Really enjoyed our stay! Staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. The lobby, cafe and rooms are charming and rich with character - exactly what we were looking for. You won't get the same over-top amenities as a 'luxury' hotel, but the ability to enjoy the neighborhood like a local and the feeling of stepping back in time into a classy cafe & inn as you enter the doors is well worth those tradeoffs. Walking distance to transit, the High Line & great food. Staff let us store our bags before check-in (AND after check-out, we had a later flight) and helped us with a ride back to the airport. Capuccino in the cafe is delicious. Bed in the room was EXTREMELY comfortable.

First, the good. The staff were extremely friendly and pleasant, the bed was incredibly soft and comfortable, the coffee in the lobby was delicious, and the location is hard to beat. That's about it, though. We booked the most expensive room in the place, which promised "dazzling views" of an "enclosed private garden oasis," by which they mean a construction site. The bathroom had paint peeling off the ceiling and crumbling tiles and grout. The advertised "plush bathrobes" were missing, as was the shower soap. I've stayed in nicer hotels for a quarter the price. None of them came with a broken typewriter in the room, though, so if that's worth $1200 a night to you, then go for it.
We stayed at the High Line Hotel for the first time, and it ended up being one of our favorite hotel stays in New York. We’ve stayed at quite a few hotels around the city over the years, but this one felt really special. The room has so much character, and I loved all the little details throughout the hotel. It doesn’t feel like a typical hotel—it has its own charm. The bed deserves its own mention. I’m currently pregnant and have had a hard time sleeping for the past couple of months, but I honestly slept better here than I have in a long time. It was one of the most comfortable mattresses I’ve ever slept on. We used to live in Chelsea, so we’ve always loved this neighborhood and would often stop by the hotel for coffee or drinks. After finally staying here, we know we’ll be back whenever we need a couple of nights in the city. Everyone downstairs/reception was genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to help with anything we needed. The whole experience went beyond our expectations, and we actually ended up extending our stay because we didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a hotel with personality, a great location, and genuinely warm hospitality.
We were a little cautious having read the mixed reviews, but were very happy with our stay. Our room was large, and included an extra seating area. Bed was very comfortable. This hotel is very much an old style hotel, quite a few years old, and a pleasant change architecturally. Rooms are decorated out in period furniture, and in some ways a little "shabby-chic" The hotel staff were very helpful. Coffee & breakfast pastries in the downstairs is by an independent service. Nice bar area outside in a garden like environment for drinks on a warm evening.
Truly, nothing could have prepared me for the warmest of welcomes from Elvis and the team. I was immediately armed with a chic water bottle, an especially good coffee and whisked up to my room. The space was generous, as in cavernous, and faced a garden. You couldn’t make up the proportions, let alone two walk in wardrobes. The robes were so fluffy and heavy they couldn’t fit in suitcase- clever on the hotels part and divine for me. The service was exceptional and the vibe cool- without trying. Bikes are available for free. The bar outside is full of sophisticated people enjoying themselves. Heaven in NYC has been illuminated.
