I absolutely LOVED this hotel! Staff was super helpful, rooms were spotless and beds were SO COMFORTABLE(though, I LOVE a good form mattress) with the exception of the pillows. They were awfully thin, when in use, due to the material. I definitely advise bringing your own. 😅 We had the loft room, so no view, but the swap to a personal and private patio was really nice. The breakfast was also delicious - crowded and busy- but delicious!

The Box Hotel was fine for what it was but it I wish some thing were just better. Either the previous guest or housekeeping didn't close the window to my room so I had to kill a few flies that got in. The floors were also kinda icky - I were my sneakers during my entire stay because when I first arrived and stepped on it before there was a stickiness to it. The shower was also really weird in that if you're over 6 feet, you'll have a hard time bathing. The shower head was very low. Overall, it was a passable stay but I found myself wanting to never be in my room. Good location though, walking distance to the train.
Extremely Disappointing Experience Our stay at The Box House Hotel in Brooklyn was disappointing from start to finish. For a hotel at this price point, the level of service and cleanliness was unacceptable. First, our room was infested with ants, which is completely unacceptable for any hotel. To make matters worse, our room wasn't ready until two hours after the scheduled check-in time. We also booked a stay that included breakfast, only to find out that breakfast service had been canceled to accommodate a private party. Apparently, hosting a private event took priority over providing guests with amenities they had already paid for. The towel situation was equally ridiculous. Housekeeping came into our room, removed our used towels, and didn't replace them. We were left without any towels for five hours because the hotel had run out. These weren't minor inconveniences. They were multiple failures in basic hotel operations, cleanliness, and customer service. The Box House Hotel has a unique atmosphere and a good location, but neither makes up for such a poorly managed experience. I would not recommend staying here, especially considering what they charge.
Not sure how they ever won awards for hospitality, because our stay at The Box House Hotel was completely not worth the high price they charge. If they are going to demand luxury rates, they desperately need to match it with actual luxury service and basic upkeep. Issues began immediately with hidden fees, as an early check-in quoted at $75 ended up closer to $100 after uncommunicated taxes and fees. To make matters worse, I paid extra to book a room with a patio, but we were given a standard room instead, and management offered zero solutions or refunds for the price difference. The room itself suffered from poor maintenance and cleanliness, featuring dirty tissues left in the corner, ripped window screens, glass cracked in multiple places, and bath towels with holes in them. Adding to the frustration, the room featured a kitchenette, but they only provided a single pan—which makes zero sense for anyone trying to actually cook. Hospitality was severely lacking as well. Aside from a helpful bellhop, the staff was unfriendly, taking over 45 minutes to deliver extra towels we needed to get ready for a wedding. To top it off, during checkout, staff members were mopping the lobby and gave us dirty looks simply for walking through. While the room was superficially okay, the complete lack of cleanliness, unfulfilled room upgrades, senseless amenities, and poor customer service make it very hard to recommend. Add their WiFi is awful!
The hotel & room were gorgeous! The staff were all super helpful, kind & funny. (They even informed us of a Saturday wedding that might be loud for a while since we were on the top floor right under the event space.) The location was perfect and the city view was immaculate. If I visit the area again, I’ll definitely be booking with The Box House!
