I stayed here for 2 nights on a work trip. Location is exceptional and the room was decent, though dated. What brought the rating down for me were the following negative experiences: 1.) There was no option for early check in without paying $70, an utterly ridiculous fee. 2.) It cost $1 per bag to store them with the desk. I’ve stayed at dozens of hotels and have never been charged for this basic service. On top of that, the guy who handled my bags sarcastically and rudely said “thank you for your generosity” when I handed him the $1 bills…as though he was expecting some sort of tip for the simple task of sticking them in a closet??? 3.) Perhaps the most ridiculous part - I took pictures of the tickets for the bag storage, and after going around the city, one of the tickets fell out of my pocket. They wouldn’t accept the picture as proof…(it was literally one digit after the other one) even though that’s worked out fine at other places in the past. The lady made me point out my bag to her, and then tested that the bag was actually mine by asking me to describe what was in it. I couldn’t believe it! 4.) The room was near a service closet or elevator used by staff. There was frequent noise that made it difficult to fall asleep, like something needed to be oiled.

The location is wonderful, but very noisy. The beds were comfortable. The room has only a TV, no appliances, not even a tiny fridge. The two water bottles were not replaced. The floor was not vacuumed well. They advertise more than they deliver. The jazz room is small and there is a cover charge, even for hotel guests.
Omg we love staying here! This is our go to hotel every time we stay in the city. The location is genius. Close to all the shows and subway stops and a nice walk to Central Park. This is such a classic beautiful hotel that is beautifully kept up to maintain its integrity. We appreciate the comfortable beds and quiet rooms & workout room! We are in love with the Friedman’s restaurant attached with the best diner coffee ever and delicious breakfasts! Try the cheese blintzes & french toast & granola TDF and very kind wait staff. Also love the amazing staff at the hotel! Shout outs to Scott & Danny and Marcos.
Excellent location, but a very disappointing experience due to noise and poor customer service I booked and prepaid the room through Booking.com and clearly indicated that I am extremely sensitive to noise. I requested a quiet room, preferably on a high floor and facing the courtyard, away from elevators, ice machines and service areas. I arrived at around 11:00 a.m., repeated my request at reception, and was told that it would be taken into account. When I returned to check in at 5:00 p.m., however, I was given a room directly above a very noisy ventilation system. I politely asked whether it might be possible to move to a quieter room. Unfortunately, the manager and his colleague responded in a confrontational, dismissive and disrespectful manner. I was told that rooms could not be reserved in advance and that I should go to another hotel. I fully understand that special requests cannot always be guaranteed, particularly when a hotel is fully booked. However, a simple acknowledgement, apology and willingness to explore an alternative (perhaps even for the following night) would have completely changed the experience. Instead, the interaction made me feel that my comfort and concerns were of no importance. Later on, the employee checking room cards near the elevators was also unnecessarily aggressive. Fortunately, Marisela assisted us the following day and was exemplary: attentive, courteous, understanding and genuinely helpful. She deserves recognition and showed exactly what good customer service should look like. The hotel is very well located, the bed was comfortable, the towels were clean, and the housekeeping team did a good job. However, the room itself felt dated. The bedside lamps were either not working or provided almost no light, the window could not be opened, and the shower design caused water to spread across the bathroom floor. The water pressure and temperature were good, but the courtyard ventilation was far too noisy. A hotel is not only a room, it is the entire experience. Unfortunately, despite the excellent location and good housekeeping, the noise and especially the way the situation was handled made this a highly disappointing stay.
I’m writing a comment on the behalf of my parents who stayed in your hotel this week. My parents do not speak English and at first they were very well treated until the end of the stay. They needed help to understand where the shuttle will pick them up, as they should have been picked up from the hotel. My mum was begging the front desk to take the call she was on, as she could not understand properly. The person Marco, Spanish and French speaking, who literally told them he will not help them if they don’t ask him to call a taxi. How dare you? How could you make people that uncomfortable, and thanks to the security guard who spoke French they had been helped after 15 min of stress. They tried to do everything in English with the little they have, can you understand that not everyone have the possibility to learn or to be taught English. They had a very great stay and they loved it, it has been wonderful but the last event is just awful. Treating people like that ?? you should be ashamed of yourself. Someone is asking you for help, you are at the front desk, they are clients. I will not recommend this hotel if nothing is addressed to that person.
