We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary in NYC and chose the Hilton Fashion District for our stay. Before arriving, I had specifically mentioned our anniversary, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade, including a room with a fantastic view of the Empire State Building. That was a lovely gesture and genuinely appreciated. Our room was clean, comfortable and had a very cozy bed. I would definitely rate the room itself 4–5 stars. Unfortunately, I would rate the rest of the service closer to 2–3 stars. I had arranged macarons for our anniversary, but they were never delivered. More concerning, however, was the way I was repeatedly treated compared to my husband. On several occasions, housekeeping staff greeted my husband warmly with a “Good morning” while completely ignoring me, even when I greeted them first. This happened repeatedly, not just once. My husband is white and I am mixed race, and after experiencing this pattern several times, it became very difficult to believe that my skin color had nothing to do with it. What made the situation particularly uncomfortable was the contrast in treatment. My husband, who wasn’t even the person who booked the room, was treated extremely warmly, while I was sometimes treated as though I simply wasn’t there. And yes, I was the person who actually booked the hotel. I cannot prove someone’s intentions, so I don’t want to make an accusation without evidence. But I can absolutely speak about how I was made to feel. As a mixed-race guest, being repeatedly ignored while my white husband received noticeably warmer treatment was uncomfortable, hurtful and frankly unacceptable. A hotel should make every guest feel equally welcome and respected. We were also disappointed by the rooftop bar, Sandbar. We wanted to spend some time there one evening, but it was completely full and we were told that reservations had to be made in advance, even for hotel guests. This would have been useful information to know beforehand. Overall, there were definitely positive aspects: the complimentary upgrade was a wonderful surprise, the room was clean and comfortable, and the Empire State Building view was fantastic. But the inconsistent service and, most importantly, the repeated difference in how my husband and I were treated left a lasting negative impression on what was supposed to be a very special anniversary stay. I hope the hotel takes feedback like this seriously, because every guest deserves the same level of courtesy and respect, regardless of their skin color.

The Fashion District location was convenient for our itinerary. The hotel was OK, although the room, bathroom countertop, and fridge were on the small side. But what really made the stay outstanding was Zahir. He took care of our car and luggage and set us up in our room when we arrived, and handled everything on our departure, providing excellent service at every step. But he really went over and above when we were going out in the rain, and the front desk didn't have any umbrellas. In the true spirit of customer satisfaction, and without any hesitation whatsoever, Zahir lent us his personal umbrella. His attentiveness and generosity turned an ordinary stay into an superior experience.
We used the Hilton Fashion District as our room block for our wedding weekend and they were AMAZING. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond in every way. We had boxes and bags constantly coming in and out of our room during all the wedding prep chaos, and they never once made us feel like it was an inconvenience, they just rolled with it and kept smiling. We were also blown away to find the sweetest welcome package waiting for us in the room with snacks and goodies, which was such a thoughtful touch. Every single one of our guests was treated with so much warmth and care. They even made sure to hand out the hangover kits we provided to our guests without a hitch. Genuinely could not have asked for a better hotel to host our people. If you're planning a wedding block in NYC, look no further!
This is an amended review in that the hotel manager Ms. Tewolde personally reached out and located the items I left behind. Thank you. I wish the staff would have done their job. The room attendant and the hotel manager did theirs. Despite the hiccup and the lack of interest from some staff members, the hotel is well managed and the other staff members I encountered were pleasant. The room though sparse with amenities, was clean and perfectly adequate. Previous review: I am leaving a one-star review in hopes that someone from Hilton New York Fashion District will respond. I was a guest several days ago and immediately contacted the hotel that I left a personal item behind in the dresser drawer. After several attempts of communication prompted by me, I received an answer of "we will check with housekeeping" followed up by "they did not locate it" . I have yet to receive an acknowledgment from the computerized lost and found submission. The room was left the spotless (except for my item left in the drawer) along with a generous tip. I'd be happy to amend my review once someone from the hotel contacts me.
I was highly impressed with the accommodations. The room was excellent and offered plenty of space, especially for New York City. The front desk staff were consistently friendly and ensured we had everything we needed, from complimentary water to extra towels. The location was also a highlight, as the proximity to the subway and Penn Station made it very convenient to travel both uptown and downtown for sightseeing. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop bar and the incredible views of the city at night. I look forward to booking with Hilton again the next time I visit New York City
