The tour was a great blend of chaos and calm. Single file through celebration filled streets for the day of god Rama, then into a quieter spot to taste and talk. We were so lucky to have guide Varun between just four of us. A completely incredible morning- you’ll need a lie down afterwards so keep that in mind.

Our tour guide, Raj, was born and brought up in Old Delhi and knows it like the back of his hand. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Old City's well as India and its culture and history as a whole. A fascinating (half day) tour, on which Raj took us to places we would never have found on our own. Lunch at the Masterji Kee Haveli was excellent too.
An amazing experience! Varun was an excellent guide who enthusiastically shared his passion for Old Delhi. All feelings of apprehension were swept away immediately! It was a quieter day as it was a public holiday and many shops were closed. We loved navigating the lanes something we would not have done on our own. Loved the street food!!! So good to be able to finally taste it. We ended our tour with dinner in a private havali, completely unexpected.the markets had really come to life as we took a tuk tuk back to our driver. If you come to Delhi you must do this your! The perfect end to a fabulous time in India.
tarting our three-week India trip with this tour was truly the best introduction we could get. Even now, after coming back home, this tour was one of the most memorable moments of the entire journey. Coming close to ordinary people in their everyday life, perfectly guided by the genuine Old Delhi citizen, Vivian, gave us an understanding of almost everything else we encountered later during our stay in India. The photo service provided was also very appreciated since it easily feels awkward to take pictures of people and situations without knowing whether it is appropriate or not. Some of Vivian’s photos during our walk were among the best of all photos taken during the trip.
A wonderful experience with Varun walking through Old Delhi & learning the history/background of the area. There is so many delicious street foods to try along the way, so make sure you come hungry! But then after walking around the area, you also get the pleasure to visit Dhruv’s BEAUTIFUL & historic private residence in the middle of Old Delhi where his wife cooks you a delicious traditional meal. This experience is full of culture, history, and a whole lot of food to keep you more than full for the rest of the day - what isn’t there to love about an experience like this?!
We went on a 4 hour food tour, it was fantastic. The hustle and bustle of old Delhi just added to the whole experience. The food was outstanding and our guide Stanley was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this tour, you will not be disapointed.
What a fantastic tour!, my friends & I, 4 of us hugely enjoyed a truly wonderful time experiencing Delhi food & the vibrant street life. We were thrust into the overwhelming yet magical world of utter mayhem, swirling sounds, vibrancy & intoxicating aromas. Venturing off with Raj Dhar our excellent tour guide, we taken on a fascintating walk through the myriad of alleyways, colourful street markets, tiny hole in the wall cafes & food stalls sizzling with spices plus the hidden corners of calm & culture around Chandni Chowk. Included a visit to Delhi’s biggest spice market laden with huge sacks of herbs & spices, giant sized jars of pickles, chutneys & nuts piled high. Stores selling anything from cinammon bark, cardamon, turmeric root to dried gooseberries & chilli in all forms & guises, wafts of it permeating the air. Raj introduced us to some of his favourite street food stalls where we ate Poori Bhajee, Somosas & various Punjabi sweet treats. Finally finishing off at Dhruv Gupta’s beautiful heritage family Haveli where we were presented with an outstanding feast of the most delicious home cooked Punjabi dishes provided by Dhruv's wife….this truly made it an exceptional & special day! To sum up our tour ‘We tasted the ‘Deli” in Deli finishing off with a fabulous meal in a Haveli, absolutely wonderful & no Delhi belly!!!'
We’re home now, in self isolation🦠 BUT this was one of the best tours I have ever been on...anywhere We were warmly greeted by Dhruv at the meeting spot, introduced to a small group (about 10 in all) & to our guide Varun. For the next few hours we were taken on what felt like a peak behind the scenes of Old Delhi. We were given timely explanations of the history and background right up to the stories of current day traders & inhabitants of this most exciting neighbourhood. Interspersed were stops at several small cafes & eateries for some of the most delicious food we had on our entire trip. There was a rickshaw ride, a visit to a small flower market, another to a spice market. Best if you don’t eat breakfast on this day as we were then treated to a visit to Dhruv’s lovely home (haveli/mansion) for a spectacular vegetarian lunch prepared by his wife & also delicious. To top off this great day we were then emailed a photo record of our day taken at random on the tour. What a great way to see this thriving old area with passionate & friendly locals who are willing to share.
A terrific exploration of food and life around Old Dehli in the capable hands of our guide. A golden opportunity to learn traditional market ways, current and historical life styles. Our guide, Raj, cared for us deep within the tiny lanes during unexpected poor weather and concerns over Covid-19. Easily organised via our entertaining host, Dhruv, who shared his unique family home. We had all questions answered and a very good time!
The organizers have gone through a great deal of thought to make the tour a comprehensive overview of this historical part of Delhi. Verun took care to provide tasty samples of the various street foods that would be compatible with this westerners stomach and he was also extremely patient with my myriad questions. The highlight was a visit to the organizer's gracious and historic haveli for yet more delicious food and tea. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Delhi.
What an absolutely incredible tour! If you’re looking for more than a cursory stop ‘been there’ check off of Old Delhi, I highly recommend Dhruv and his expertise. He brilliantly—and with a dash of humor—conveys the intoxicating mix of flavor and mayhem that is Old Delhi. As part of the tour, Dhruv intimately shares in in-depth knowledge of Chandni Chowk, interlacing layers of history with the intoxicating mix of flavors of mayhems via the narrow alleyways and twists and turns of the beguiling treasure that is Old Delhi. And, of course, the food is amazing. As an added bonus, Dhruv takes photos along the way and shares them with your after the tour, so you end up with fascinating, candid portraits from a point of view impossible to achieve on your own. I’ve been fortunate to travel around the globe and I’ve taken many tours over the years, and this one is among the very best of the best.
This is a must do cultural experience. We enjoyed the narrative and engaging style of our guide, Varun. He showed us things we would never have otherwise seen. The food was delicious and the people were extremely friendly.
Great, varied walking tour with fantastic lunch at the end. Tour encompasses a wide range of activities, with enough food sampling and breaks to give you a diverse experience of the backstreets and spice market of Old Delhi.
We decided on this tour, as we only had literally 1/2 day in Delhi, and wanted to get an authentic taste of what the old town was like. After reading all the previous reviews, we decided on this tour and we were not disappointed! From my first inquiry, Dhruv was very easy to communicate with and helped us book our tour for the day. We were staying in Aerocity. As our plane was late arriving, we chose to Uber to the old town. This was actually a mistake - traffic is terrible getting to Old Delhi - we should have taken Dhruv's recommendation and taken the subway! Somehow, our guide Varun (Co-founder of the company) found us in gridlock traffic and relieved us from our (very relieved) Uber driver and we started our tour. The food was AMAZING, the pictures Varun took on his own camera were great souvenirs (much better than we could have managed), and I can only say - this is the only way to see old Delhi. I cannot imagine trying to find our way through the labyrinth of shops, alleys, and just the general mayhem on our own! Just when we were on sensory overload, he guided us to Masterji Kee Haveli - a lovely old private mansion in the heart of old Delhi where we met Dhruv and were served a wonderful home cooked meal in his private dining room. I have no complaints with this great, personalized service - we were able to sample great, SAFE street food, and very happy to report no ill effects! Thank you Dhruv and Varum for a fantastic experience!
This tour was one of my last activities during a 2 month business trip in India and my only regret is not doing it sooner! Dhruv was an exceptional guide and led me through the streets of old Delhi all while trying delicious food and learning about the history and culture. I really appreciated trying all different types of food, many that I had not yet experienced during my stay in India. All food is very safe as Dhruv hand picks the stalls that are tried and true. After roaming the streets, we arrived at Dhruv’s haveli and had a wonderful meal that was home cooked by his wife. My favorite dishes were the cauliflower and zucchini balls. Dhruv took pictures throughout the tour which he sent me after to keep for memories. This allowed me to fully enjoy the tour and take in the sights without stressing over taking the perfect picture. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Delhi, especially any solo female travelers. When traveling as a solo female, it is usually advised to avoid old Delhi and many other parts of the city as they are quite chaotic and unsafe while alone. On my tour with Dhruv, I felt extremely safe and was so glad to be able to visit an area that I may have otherwise missed.
The tour was great and the food delicious. My family and I really enjoyed navigating the streets of Old Delhi and experiencing some of the local foods. I am planning on doing it again.
This tour was the first thing my sister and I did after landing in Delhi and I cannot recommend it enough! It was an excellent introduction to the city of Delhi, Indian culture in general, and (of course) delicious street food. Our guide Varun found us as soon as we arrived at the designated meeting place in the Old Delhi market, which was especially welcome as it can be a rather hectic area. Varun made Old Delhi come alive for us with interesting facts, history, and questions to keep us engaged. Although much of our conversation focused on the food, we also learned about Indian history and Hindu culture. I had been to India previously and thought that I had a sense of Indian street food but Varun directed us to several options that I had never tried before. All of the food we sampled was delicious and safe, neither my sister nor I experienced any digestive issues throughout our stay in India. The Masterji Kee Haveli is beautiful and Dhruv was an exceptional host. We really felt like we were visiting with friends rather than doing a scheduled tour as the conversation flowed very easily. My only regret is that I did not schedule all of my Delhi tours with Varun and Dhruv because none of the other tour guides we experienced during this trip to India came close to providing as memorable of an experience.
Well Worth It!!!! The experience, knowledge, food, candid shots were great!!! Highly recommend and would do it again!
Exceptional tour! Our guide Raj, took us on a tour of old Delhi. This tour is much more than a food tour. Raj showed us hidden places and temples that we would not reach on our own. We learned much on the culture, food and customs of old Delhi. The tour ended with an incredible lunch at Masterji Kee Haveli. We we're with our kids ages 15,13 and 9 and each one of them took something from this tour. Highly recommend.
Anju met us at he designated point and we spent the next few hours experiencing the amazing sights, sounds ans smells of old Delhi. Loved being introduced to some of the characters. Anju gave very good explanations. We had an Indian breakfast before visiting the aromatic spice market and some of the old havelis. The views from the top of the market were awesome. We completed our tour with a home cooked lunch at Dhruvs beautiful haveli. Anji was taking snaps thorough out the tour and has since emailed these to me. A fabulous and enlightening experience. Highly recommended,
Excellent trip food at Haveli was fabulous Brilliant day from start to finish . Was just amazing so much included in trip well worth the money
We have a wonderful tour starting with some original Indian breakfast and then walked around the area for quite some time while being nicely informed about the area as well as given an insight into the people, customs and culture. We took a biycle riksah to the spice market where we were given a brief seminar and sampled the goods. Afterwards we took a motorcycle rikshah and were treated to a great lunch in Masterji Kee Haveli's house. Afterwards we received a link to all the photos they took and were able to download them in high quality.
Had a wonderful time on this tour, discovering the insider's view of Old Delhi and trying some wonderful snacks. Great views from the rooftops. An absolutely delicious meal at the Helveli - what a real treat! I'd like the recipe to the Cauliflour dish, it was amazing. Thoroughly recommend this great tour.
I can't imagine seeing Old Delhi without a guide service such as this. Old Delhi is incredibly complicated, and Varun made it a very fun and interesting experience. Don't eat before coming! You will have many opportunities to eat excellent street food (they only take you to places that are safe to eat from).
We had an amazing day with Varun, who was an absolute pleasure to meet. His good humour, knowledge and enthusiasm made our first day in India an unforgettable experience. The vendors he took us to were all incredible, and the photos taken along the way were a nice touch. Thank you Varun!
We felt privileged to be given this intimate and articulate insight into what is without doubt one of the most unique and complex social and architectural environments in the world. History, context and and a sensitivity to the human condition were imparted with rel first hand knowledge and good humour. The beautiful local food sustained and nourished the experience. We had a wonderful experience on our tour today around Chandni Chowk. Raju Dhar, our guide, is knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly. His openness to questions and thoughtful commentary help make this extraordinary, dense and complex neighborhood come alive. This is a rare opportunity that I highly recommend to any visitor. The food is wonderful, too.
Our adventure with Mr. Raj began with a detailed history of Old Delhi. His knowledge of the community based on his personal upbringing, academic training, and passion made this experience extraordinary. We ate delicious food, the culmination of which was a home cooked meal at the beautiful Masterji Kee Haveli. While walking and riding rickshaws, we saw wholesale flower, spice, hardware, and eye glasses markets. Throughout, Mr. Raj answered our questions. I highly recommend this tour!
We had a wonderful tour with Varun, he was incredibly informative and engaging. We tasted many amazing foods along the way, experienced the lifestyle in Old Delhi and got to visit a beautiful haveli. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Delhi.
This is my first trip in India, I booked 2 local tours on 'Klook' which had totally different experience This tour run in small group, the guide - Varun 'your Indian local friend' will bring you walking and eating around in Old Delhi. He take photos for all of us on the way and you will get this private album afterward. The trip end with a delicious home made lunch in a beautiful Haveli which is the home of this trip's founder - Dhruv It is a great and memorable experience If you are in Delhi, try this tour, and you won't regret Po from H.K.
I feel very privileged to have stumbled across this tour! I will be recommending it to everyone travelling to Delhi. Dhruv has the philosophy of his business right, treating us like friends from before we even met. They rescheduled my tour at the last minute due to missing my connecting flight to Delhi, with no extra cost. Chander was very amiable, knowledgeable, and fun to talk to. At my request we went all the way to the rooftop at the spice market where I really enjoyed trying kite flying (the kids make it look easier than it is!). They generously don't take a commission from the spice shop like other tour companies. All the food was delicious, but finishing with a home cooked lunch at what must be Old Delhi's most well maintained traditional family home was truly inspirational (they'll even send recipes!). Thanks Dhruv for protecting the beauty of the Old Delhi culture!
Varun gave us more than a guided tour. He was generous and knowledgeable, and we relaxed and took all the impressions into our hearts. There were tastes, smells, pleasure, silence, and chaos, noise, dust, and heat. Many foreign people. Varun got us through safely and securely. It is a trip we will never forget.
