Itinerary
Explore the living historical city of Shahajanabad and experience the rich history of Old Delhi. The tour takes you on an unforgettable journey through the urban cultures of our beloved Old Delhi. Come see the past through the eyes of the present, centred on architecture, history, and tales, as well as connecting with the people that make this city so dynamic. While seeing historic old homes will provide you with a beautiful getaway from the present and allow you to experience the glorious days of Mughal royalty. There will be a visit to the Imperial Palace, the Red Fort and we will explore South Asia's first largest Friday Mosque during the 17th century. Aside from history and gastronomy, we will take you to Asia's largest spice market and other famous but old bazaars in the Chandni Chowk region.
In the Humayun's Tomb complex, first visit the mosque and tomb of Isa Khan Niyazi, a nobleman in the court of Sher Shah Suri. The mosque is exceptionally lovely, with incised plaster work and glazed tiles in green, yellow, and bright blue. Then head to Arab Sarai, built for 300 Arab servants that Emperor Humayun's widow Hamida Banu Begum brought back to India from Mecca, and look to the left to see the garden and tomb of Bu Halima. Finally, you'll see Humayun’s Tomb itself, commissioned by Hamida Banu Begum some years after the death of the emperor in 1556.
The City Explorer® will meet you at the Qutub Minar ticket Counter. As we enter the complex we will first visit the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque. Founded by the first Delhi sultan, Qutbuddin Aibak, this grand mosque is known to be the first building in the Qutub Complex. Then the guests can view the iron pillar standing at the center of the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque. The Iron Pillar is undeniably among one of the most famous heritage attractions in Delhi and within the Qutub Complex. Then comes the Alai darwaza, which was later added by Alauddin Khilji and conceived to be the main gateway to the ambitious extension of Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque.
Explore the modern city of New Delhi and the surrounding architectural elements there. This walk will explore the colonial aspects of our city focusing on the President’s House, Katavya Path, India Gate and other significant structures around the arena. The walk is about stories central to the making of Modern Delhi, a history of past, present and the contemporary advancement around the site. Kartavya Path represents a change from the former Rajpath, which served as a symbol of power, to Kartavya Path, which serves as an illustration of democratic control and empowerment.

Geeta was the best guide!!! She was incredibly knowledgeable, entertainably fun and flexible in the itinerary. We had her for 4 days, sightseeing and shopping! She made our time in Delhi an absolute delight!!!
Wonderful tour! Our private guide was excellent, incredibly kind and knowledgeable. She explained everything with genuine passion and enthusiasm, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour!
Excellent trip to Humayun tomb with team
We had an excellent experience with our guide, Raghav. He took us to several remarkable historical sites, including Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar, and provided engaging and informative explanations throughout the tour. His storytelling made the experience both enjoyable and interactive. We highly recommend Raghav to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and professional guide.
We had a wonderful first day in India with Shreya. She showed us all the highlights of Delhi. 5/5 tour ams would highly recommend.
Great tour! Very thankful for a positive experience with lots of history. Visited gate of India, Qutub Minar, and other tombs.
This was my 4th visit to Qutub, though it didn't feel like it at all. I believe that the duration of the tour could be increased as Hirat had a lot to tell us. Despite being an avid history student myself, I loved going through the rhythm of times bygone and that of how each building came into being, with Hirat. Also, enjoyed the alternate perspective related to each and every nook and corner of the complex. Thanks.
It was an extremely well organized, informative, well paced and memorable experience. The attention to detail, tells you they aren’t a fly by night operator. They are a team of experienced professionals, who know their city for its history, people, twists n turns. I would strongly recommend that you join their tours or use them to plan your next outing. We were a fairly large group and they gave us experience that will remain with us forever. Thank you
I have done the Old Delhi food and walking tour several times with guests. Aamir Ahmed is by far the best guide I have worked with. If you are zonsidering visiting Nizamuddin Dargah, I would highly recommend walking with Aarmir as his is passionately knowledgeable about his home neighborhood.
The walk was extremely fun and an enriching experience. Our guide, Srushti, was amazing and very cordial. She showed us around the nooks and corners of the place.
I really like the walk especially how shrusti di connect the heritage with gender perspective.overall it's amazing experience.
It was a wonderful experience, the spots were carefully selected by the walk planners incorporating both academic and popular history together.
We took the 3 hour heritage walk cum food experience tour of Chandni Chowk with India City Walks. It was a brilliant tour and an awesome experience. Our "city explorer" Surbhi Dwivedi was font of information and delightful anecdotes about all the places we visited. She guided us through the narrow and crowded bylanes with expertise and her explanations were clear and well delivered. For all five of us this was the high point of trip to Delhi
The team's food walk was an incredible experience, thanks to the delectable and diverse cuisine paired with knowledgeable guides. The seamless organization made it an unforgettable journey, leaving a lasting impression with numerous memorable moments to cherish. Grateful for such an extraordinary and unforgettable outing!
Humayun tomb and qutub minar .. excellent spots to visit with the super skilful and passionate guide Kazal
The walk was one of a kind experience involving history of people, food and places. The last element, visit to Ghalib's Haveli was a total surprise and loved by the entire team. The team was knowledgeable and fun. They handled the logistics part very well. We look forward to more such walks!
Excellent tour of the Red Fort & streets of Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi given by the Surbhi from India city walks. A very informative tour of the fort explained the details of the of the Mughal Empire, the emperor Shajahan's reign & his succession. She also focused on the architecture and pointed out the European influences. Kept us engrossed with her enthusiasm & knowledge. After finishing the red fort, we took a rickshaw to Dariba Kalan, the perfume, silver & jewelery street of Old Delhi. Soon after which we entered the lanes of crowded yet charming kinari bazaar. Then Surbhi walked us to Dharampura Haveli with the most gorgeous doors and mansions. Our walk ended at the beautiful Jama Masjid and she dropped us at Gumbad Cafe from where we enjoyed the mesmerising view of the mosque, sunset & the Old Delhi. Such a well spent evening, thanks to India City Walks - I recommend it to everyone visitng Delhi.
We met Surbhi on site at Red Fort. After a warm greeting and introduction, we began the tour of Red Fort and Chandni Chowk. She was a very knowledgeable guide having studied the local history academically. Very kind and enthusiastic about the tour and would recommend her for your tour of the various historical sites in Delhi. Thanks!
