Itinerary
At 2,200 acres (890 hectares), with ten lakes and 55 trails and footpaths, Rockwood Park is a Saint John destination unto itself. For our purposes (when circumstances allow), the park serves as our start/finish location, and , the tour finishes with a scenic ride along the park road, learning about its history and revel in its beauty.
Learn about some of the businesses and industries that have shaped Canada's oldest incorporated city as we ride our hybrid bikes through the rolling hills of Saint John.
Constructed in 1777 by the British and located on a towering rock offering unmatched views of both the harbour and river, Fort Howe and its associated garrison provided protection to the settlements from American Privateers and invasion through the end of the War of 1812.
Created by the interaction of the Bay of Fundy and the Saint John River, this attraction has 3 very distinct stages depending on when you arrive. At low tide the river empties into the bay causing a series of rapids and whirlpools. As tides rise they slow the river current for a brief period called slack tide. The Bay's tides continue to rise, gradually reversing the flow of the river; rapids form again, peaking at high tide. A 8.5-metre (28-foot) tide cycle is roughly 12.5 hours. Keep an eye open for harbour seals and birds playing and feeding in the currents, or perhaps even the slightly more rare but equally impressive group of whitewater kayakers who frequent this location, for which Saint Joh has been ranked one of the top urban whitewater destinations in the world.
A brewing story as old as Canada itself. Founded in 1867 by matriarch Susannah Oland, Moosehead has been a staple of life in Saint John and Atlantic Canada for over 150 years. In 2018 in our Small Batch Brewery and Taproom was opened and became their home for innovation. Join us for a 16oz beverage (included in the price of the tour) and share in the story of this Saint John icon!
Carleton Martello Tower in Saint John, New Brunswick, is one of the nine surviving Martello Towers in Canada. The tower dates from the War of 1812 and played a significant role in conflicts until the Second World War. The site now features a restored powder magazine, a restored barracks room, and exhibits in the tower and in the visitor centre. The tower's roof offers a view of the city of Saint John and its harbour. Carleton Martello Tower is one of the oldest buildings in the city and has been designated as a National Historic Site of Canada since 1930. It has been open to the public since 1963.
A series of interconnected walking and biking trails, lookouts and heritage sites that connects the north and west sides of the city to the uptown. Interpretive structures and panels offer a unique way to interpret our city’s rich, layered heritage and our extraordinary natural environment. Witness the ebb and flow of some of the Highest Tides in the World, enjoying spectacular views of Saint John Harbour's working port. If you're lucky you may even catch the occasional harbour seal playing in the tidal currents or relaixng on the rocks.
Located just inside the Saint John Harbour along what is now Harbour Passage, Place Fort La Tour has long been a strategic area for gathering, trade, celebration, and sustenance. It's history of ceremonial, commercial, and industrial uses date back nearly 6000 years.

Great easy but active ride through the town. The guides were lovely and provided great context for what we were experiencing.
A great tour around Saint John neighborhoods and highlights. Darren was a great guide and prepped us in advance on the number of moderate hills which was certainly manageable!
Our group was small - just us 2 - which allowed for a lot of great discussion. Darren had a wealth of knowledge about Saint John and relayed it enthusiastically! The tour allowed us to see so much more than we would have in our own!
Fun little tour of St John with some interesting stops. Tour guides Darren & Tony were very friendly. The tour starts near Lily Lake at the back of the building.
Darren, our guide was phenomenal. We learned a ton of history about Saint John. Beautiful views of the reversing rapids, forts and waterfront. There are quite a few hills, so your quads will get a great workout! Highly recommend this tour!
We were only two guests and Darren gave us a perfect tour, the bicycled were well maintained and Darren explained us a lot about history and Saint John. We would always do this again. Also nice visiting the local brewery:)
Here is the review I wrote, but it did not allow me to leave a detailed review, without logging in as you, which I can’t do. So can you copy an paste this as my feedback and review for the bike tour I took? Thanks! The bike tour I purchased in Halifax Nova Scotia via Viator turned out to be my favorite part of my 9-Day Canada cruise. The meetup location for the biking tour that I booked was a 45 min walk away from my cruise ship port. Since I miscalculated the walking distance to the meeting point, I was unable to make the tour. However, when I contacted them later that day, the folks at the touring company who went above and beyond to make sure that I had a great experience. They not only rescheduled me for the next day, but they came to the ship port to pick me up. Once I arrived at the meeting location, I met my bike tour guide (Doug), it turns out I got a 1-on-1 biking tour. As if that were not enough, Doug also became my photographer, helping me capture great pictures from throughout the tour. Doug was very knowledgeable and very professional and ended the tour by cycling back with me to the ship to make sure I made it back onboard in time before the ship departed. I had a great time and will book another tour with them via Viator gain when every I return to Canada.
Great tour company! Our ship was delayed due to a medical emergency but the tour company waited an hour and still took us out! Our tour guide was very friendly and informative. We biked some hilly roads with beautiful architecture and views of the port. We enjoyed a delicious beer and pleasant conversation at Moosehead brewery. My husband dropped his hat at the beginning of the tour but our guide found it later and the company delivered it to a location near us so we could retrieve it! Great customer service!
One of the most memorable parts of this tour was exploring the mansions and learning about the community, the rich history and stunning architecture or captivating, but what truly stood out was the deeper connection to the people and stories that shape the area. It left a lasting impression making this experience truly unforgettable.
This is an excellent tour. The tour operators are super friendly and helpful. The communication is great. By the end of the day touring with Darren, we felt like we spent a day biking with an old friend.
Great bike tour! Darren was an excellent guide- a wealth of historical and scientific knowledge and he was great in terms of the actual biking. He prepared us for what we would encounter on the road- hills, turns, etc. The stop at Moosehead brewery was the perfect almost ending to the tour. Highly recommend this bike experience!!!
Weather was not great but it was a fun bike tour with great tour guides! Stop at brewery was fun too!
This company is wonderful: Wanda was so helpful beforehand with answering questions and handling Viator issues (booking the right-sized bike can be tricky). Darren, our guide, was personable, friendly, knowledgeable, patient (lots of hills around the area) and easy to interact with. St. John doesn’t have a tremendous amount to see, but that being said, that’s not the fault of the company. We were happy to see the available sights on a bike rather than by sitting on a bus. Much more interesting and interactive. Thanks for a fun afternoon!
We had a great time on our tour. Doug and Darren were fun, helpful, accommodating and informative. The bikes were in good condition. So glad we chose to spend our day in port with them.
On our end we thought hybred bikes were e bikes. These gentlemen were awesome and rolled with the tide. Gave us a wonderful tour but will say remember your last bike ride and Saint John is hills on the ocean. Be prepared for moderate hills. Thank you.
Daren was a fabulous guide. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour! Some hills but very doable! It was a great day!
Darren was great. Best bike tour ever. We strongly recommend this tour and we’ll do it again went back in this area.
We were looking for an active excursion to do during our Cruise to St. John's, NB, Canada. We found this excursion on Viator and decided to book it! It was easy to get to from our ship! Our guide was amazing and it was perfect for my husband and I! Everyone who works there is incredibly nice! It was a great time! We were so happy we booked it!
Tour guide Darren was a great guy and exceptionally knowledgeable about the tour sites. Would definitely get a beer with him again!
Darren was super friendly and knowledgeable about the city. We had an amazing time! Great way to spend the day in St. John.
Wonderful time on the bike We learned a lot about St. John and the geological makeup of the area from Darren. He was fun, easy to talk to, informative, and always had our safety in mind. The bikes were in good condition, and the riding was great exercise. We would definitely recommend it.
Darren, our guide, is a local. He loves what he does. Our tour was excellent. Highly recommend. Bikes were in very good condition. Good times Thank you.
