The city is a delight and Pete’s indepth explanations made it all the more enjoyable. He is a pro and he was careful to be heard and set a comfortable pace for our group of 12. Well worth the price and he earns five stars for his tour!
Pete is very knowledgeable of the history of the area. He is a long time resident of St John and provides information that only a local would know.
We booked this tour last minute, as our ship had diverted to Saint John from a different port. We had a lovely walking tour with Pete. He is a long time local and former pub owner, and seemed to know half the people in town! It was a reminder of why we prefer to book privately instead of through the cruise ship. The advantage of a private or small group tour is that it can be adjusted to suit the preferences of the participants. Pete shared tons of historic and cultural information was a delight to spend the day with!
Thank you, Pete! This was a great walking tour where you can see and hear Saint John's history. His knowledge of the town, the stories, and his humor make it a "must-do tour." Walking through town and learning so much about the townspeople, food, hardships, and rebuilding is fascinating. Well worth your time!
The tour was very informative and touched on historical buildings and regions of St John, art fixtures, parks and history of the city including immigration and harbour changes.
Pete's walking tour was organized and informative. Pete met us outside of the Marco Polo cruise port which was just 1 minute walk. So easy. He took us for a 2+ hour tour highlighting the past and present of Saint John, New Brunswick. He brought his sense of humor and pride for his city. Pete used photos, gave recommendations and was just an excellent guide and resource. The tour is easy, but fast-paced. He was considerate of the windy and brisk weather, and was creative about how he took us through Uptown without really having to go uphill. Clever! We'd highly recommend Pete's tour if you find yourself in New Brunswick. You'll be glad you did.
Pete was very, very knowledgeable and detailed. He shared a lot of information about Saint John.
Pete is a professional and gracious guide. He knows the area well! Take this tour! You won’t regret it.
Very knowledgeable and passionate about all things Saint John. Great tour. We learned a lot and enjoyed the sights.
Pete was incredible! So knowledgeable and personable- he made the tour great! Even though the damp weather, we were looking for the next stop and historic facts. Can’t say enough about Pete! Worth every penny and more 😃
Pete is a great guide. Funny, personable and really knows the history of St. John. Highly recommend this tour.
If you are looking for charming and knowledgeable local with tons of pride for the history and institutions that comprise Saint John, the rush out and book this tour!
Pete was great and packed with local history. Seems to know everyone in town.
Pete was informative and energetic. He’s local , so he knows a lot of local history. Dress warm during the fall season.
Pete was a brilliant guide! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the beautiful city and took us to some deeply interesting and important buildings, highlighting both the city's history and its current day-to-day life. Everything was delivered with a great sense of humor that kept us engaged the entire time. What truly set Pete apart was his dedication. He even messaged us after the tour with an answer to a question he hadn't been completely sure about during our walk. I would 100% recommend Pete for this tour!
We really enjoyed Pete's Historic Walking Tour during our cruise stop in Saint John, New Brunswick! Pete was knowledgeable, friendly, and shared fascinating stories about the city's history. The tour included the historic streets, City Market, and the unique indoor pedway network. As someone who uses a power wheelchair, I especially appreciated the thoughtfully planned route, which avoided many of Saint John's steep hills and made exploring the city much easier. This tour was recommended by GoFCTA.com — First Choice Travel Agency, and it's one we'd happily recommend to other cruise passengers visiting Saint John. A wonderful way to experience the city's history and charm!
Pete was very knowledgeable about the city. The tour skirted around the steep hills on the streets. A nice slower paced walk which was a great introduction to the city. Highly recommended.
Pete was extremely knowledgeable & enthusiastic as a tour guide. We were able to learn a lot about Saint John in our two hour walk with Pete. Pete encouraged and responded to questions from friends m his tour group!
This was a great tour ! Pete was so full of great information and we learned alot about Saint John . We covered a big area of the uptown , really enjoyed it !
Pete has an extensive knowledge of saint John history and more current info about city and the residents. Very interesting;only reason for only a GOOD rating is the tour time- 11:00 to 1:30 with no lunch stop. Recommend starting tour at 9:30 or 10:00, and ending it at the city market so people can buy lunch there or at nearby restaurants.
Wonderful 2.5 hr walking tour with a local. Nice pace mostly flat and full of the cities history and recommendations for eating and local day trips. Highly recommend
This was a very informative and fun tour. Pete gave us lots of history and covered a lot of territory. Nice way to see a city we really did't know anything about.
Excellent tour, guide was extremely knowledgeable and fun to listen to. He has perfectly designed the tour to avoid climbing the steep roads in Saint John. Wonderful tour and sn easy walk.
Pete is personable, friendly and intelligent. My wife Linda and no felt Pete was very informative and well worth the price that was asked. The tour was exceptional.
Pete is a local and that much is obvious! He knows everything and everyone. We had so much fun learning about Saint Johns with Pete! There is simply no way we would have had as much fun, knew where to get the best bite, or seen nearly as much without him! Do yourself a favor and skip the commercialized tours and tour the town with Pete. You won’t be sorry and it’ll certainly be worth your time! Trying to see everything on your own won’t be as much fun, trust me!
Pete is a friendly, knowledgeable guy- felt like I was more acquainted with the city and got a feel for the history. Saint John is a very industrial city which is a bit hard to look past the smoke stacks to the natural beauty. Nice thing is, that the people of Saint John look past that and love their city- met many people there and they all love Saint John!
Loved this tour! Pete was very knowledgeable and truly seemed to enjoy sharing his love for his home town. We really felt like we learned so much about this beautiful town and so glad we were able to see it through Pete's eyes. Highly recommend!
Pete is very well versed. He made the tour interesting and fun. We started and ended on time. He planned the tour so there is no uphill walking.
Excellent walking tour with Pete. He is a Saint John local who knows the history as well as the current city. He is funny and has an engaging personality. The tour route maneuvered around the hills so it was fairly flat.
The walk is gentle with stops to sit down and this senior had no issues . The guide Pete is a delightful character
Great walk thru uptown with history. Saw the city market, mall, library, Marco Polo model, several parks and he gave lunch recommendations. Sandwiches at Jeremiah's were spot on.
2 hours of walking. Wear comfortable footwear and clothing. Walk goes through the Market. I would have loved to spend more time there, but we were on a schedule.
Such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Made the walking tour a real pleasure. I highly recommend.
Pete was a walking encyclopedia of information about Saint John. His tour gave us all the background on history all the way up to current city leaders. He led our small group through the heart of town, pointing out highlights and everyone in Saint John seemed to know him! Highly recommended!
Amazing tour! Pete is very knowledgeable about the city & history of Saint John and delivers the information clearly and energetically! Highly recommend!
It is not a tour with a guide spewing facts. Oh Mylanta, Peter is anything but.... he is committed to his craft. He is sooo knowledgeable and genuinely concerned with giving a true experience blended with well researched historical facts and levity. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. KUDOS to Peter!!
Be ready to walk a fair bit however Pete has thoughtfully removed any hill climbs. Get ready to laugh a lot as well - Pete is passionate and proud of his town and had plenty of memorable stories to share.
This was a really good historical tour. Pete is very knowledgeable and kept it interesting. He also took a path around the port area that kept us from going up steep steps or hills.
Highly recommend this tour. Pete was knowledgeable, friendly, spoke loud enough for all of our group to hear, made sure everyone was with the group when he spoke. Knows the city and history really well. And he made sure we did not have to climb any steep streets, an unexpected bonus.
Lots of interesting information and presented with humor. All things St John’s covered. A beautiful day to explore
Pete was great! He was very friendly and knowledgable. Definitely was a local who just wanted to share his city. Thanks, Pete!
Pete is a hoot - funny, charming, informative. No other guide could compare.
Pete was very knowledgeable but I think the best was how kiind he was to all and how he was aware of everyone’s needs. It was a diverse group with varied capabilities and he accommodated them all and made us feel comfortable. The weather was crazy and he made sure we were comfortable- moving us inside at one point but back out then when we could! Thank you again!!
Pete was an excellent tour guide with an obvious love of his city. Our walking tour was fun and very informative. I highly recommend this specific tour and guide to show you around the lovely city of Saint John.
Pete was a fabulous guide. He gave us a variety of historical and current information about Saint John. He was easy to hear, and took time to answer questions. Highly recommend!
Very informative and fun! Pete knows his stuff and does a great job! Saint John’s is a neat city! Highly recommend! Thank you!
Pete’s tour was fantastic. He’s very knowledgeable about his home town and loves to share with his guests. In addition he’s a lot of fun. I’m so glad we got to meet him!
Pete is an absolute wealth of knowledge! I think about 10 locals stopped to say hi during the tour, he is truly part of the fabric of Saint John. The weather turned rather wet toward the end of the tour and Pete went above and beyond for our small group. Highly recommend if you’d like to deep dive into the history of the city.
Pete gave an exceptional tour. He was a wealth of knowledge and set a good pace with many pauses at the historic sites.
