The venue refused to honour the booking, but not until they had collected us from our hotel and had taken us to the venue. We had no odea where we were or how to get vack to the hotel. They were not helpful at all. We were faced with two options. 1, being left strand there, and finding our own way back, or 2, paying again on the promise of a refund of the original booking. We paid again on this promise. Our refund never transpired though. The subsequent refund request I put in was ignored by both Jam West and Trip Advisor. I paid through a trip advisor Initially. Thankfully my credit card company took the money back off them for me in the end. Travelling to Jamaica again next year but I will never book anything at Jam West again and wont ever book through Trip Advisor again either! Shocking scammy behaviour from both JamWest and TripAdvisor.

The tour will begin with pickup from your Negril hotel. From there your tour guide will outfit guests with helmets and goggles to ensure safety. All tours begin with practice laps in the training area for the opportunity to warm up to driving the vehicle. Your professional tour guides will observe guests to see how they are operating the vehicles before heading out to the trails. Raining? No problem! The tour is even more fun on those rainy days; all ATVs have automatic transmission for easy riding. Most guests on this tour are first time riders, therefore guides are experienced at making it simple to achieve a quick and comfortable learning curve. Your guide will provide equipment boxes on the rear rack of the machine so clients can stow cameras, sunscreen, extra jackets, etc., eliminating the need for backpacks. From the super clean and new ATVs to the professional training provided by the guides, you will have a first-class experience. Come explore Negril on an ATV today.

We were assured when we arrived there was plenty of time to get two excursions completed on the schedule we were given. After over an hour of sitting around a staff member admitted it was a $hit$how. We go on the jam culture tour which is only seeing snakes, lizards, crocs , etc in janky cages. When we realized there was no way to complete both excursions and make our bus ride home the staff tried to pressure us into signing releases that stated it was our choice to not participate in the other excursion. To top it off on the way back to Montego Bay our driver ventured off the normal path trying to find air for a tire at his brothers house without so much as a heads up as to what was going on. Bad food, bad people for the most part that just want your money, all around a bad experience and nobody there or at Amstar that setup this excursion gives a $hit.
The tour was absolutely amazing. Metro was very knowledgeable af the safari abd provided a lot of information about the animals we saw, sharing with us facts we didn't know. Metro was very personable, and he made the this experience very memorable. We are goibg to recommebd this tour to all of our friends when we go vack to tge States, and we will tell them to look for Metro!!!!
Went on both the ATV and Jamculture tours. Both were awesome!!! Metro was very informative when showing us all the sites on the culture tour & a lil shot of rum never hurt anyone!!!!! Will recommend this tour to all of our friends in Atlanta.
The ATV is so fun. It has muddy holes, hills, tunnels, and a beautiful beach stop, bring phone for picture moment at beach. The tour guides are wonderful.
Travelled with my husband for the triple package, chose ATV, bobsled and jamwest culture tour. Staff were very helpful, but could feel some maybe atmosphere and unhappiness there. The activities were fun and we really enjoyed the ATV and mineral bath. Concerns... the animals.. the birds next to the bar with blaring music, most didn't have water in the bowels, only sunflower seeds and no enrichment. Saw some upsetting bird behaviour exhibited where they are stressed, frustrated and even desperate for attention and interaction. We also went on the safari which took us to the boardwalk, where there were more animals, they again were kept in concerning enclosures, we were expecting to maybe see them in natural habitats, but we saw a giant turtle who apparently loves to dig, and yet was living on concrete floor. Honestly I wanted to cry seeing animals this way, and I know it will be down to resources and funding and also paoibky differences in cultures, but I feel so upset seeing animals this way. I'm caught between if you don't recommend people to go there will be even less funding, but then I don't and can't recommend somewhere that I feel may neglect animals.
Super fun ATV trail with a beautiful view of the ocean. Very knowledgeable tour guide for JamCulture. Yummy rum and food tasting along the ride.
We purchased the ATV package and was only able to do just that. The ATVs were fun the staff was great. However, immediately after the ATVs we were told we had to leave or we would not have a way back to the resort. If this was the case we surely would not have chosen to go with this company. Again the ATVs were fun but the excursion was cut short what a waste of a day and money.
Worst part of my trip was coming here. The ride there from the resort was terrifying. Can’t even walk in good enough $5 for the locker to put the things you were told to bring by the saleswoman. Watched in real time children coming back to parents in tears from being bit by the birds. The ATV rides were awesome, but you needed someone with you in order to ride no matter what and no refund. You have to drive in a straight line and you can’t do anything other than drive the 7.5 mile trail which has no scenery. The helmets or seatbelts weren’t in compliance to anything. We were told that no phones were allowed so we couldn’t take our own ATV pictures (resonable due to safety reasons.) they had a photographer but we still haven’t gotten the photos we paid for. The Tour was okay, but unfortunately was guided by “Metro”, a person who took more interest in being kind for money, reminded me to give him tip then scoffed at the amount even though I didn’t even know I would have to continue to pay despite of already paying to get here. He even proceeded to accost me on why he did not receive more on his tip and proceeded to gaslight and basically bully me for more money as if he would come to the states and pay for an already paid for zoo ride. One old cobra, an iguana, a tortoise, and some chickens. He didn’t even show me the entire bird collection just some chickens like I’m not from Texas where we have all of those things! I would suggest going somewhere that is highly recommended than to book on your own. It’s not worth $350+ USD to get there and $100+ at the gift shop. I can respect hustle, but disrespect falls on deaf ears with me. I literally have tipped everyone that helped me since my arrival and only received a complaint from him. Metro Please don’t travel like you said you would and stay at your day job no one deserves to be troubled with such strange energy. Also you tried to steal the ladies money from the historical stop. Shady man. Pros: The hostess and the travel manager were sweet well put together young women. Didn’t have time to do the mineral bath but I heard it was nice. Rock climbing looked fun but of course couldn’t try it because I ran out of money to tip for the “free amenities”.
The ATV tour and mini safari tour were really good. You get at least a good 30 min ride with decent terrain and good scenery.
Overall quite good if a bit tame due to the amount of mixed abilities on same course However a bit miffed over being forced to buy bandanas at $8each for the dust, it was raining and no chance of any dust
Awesome 👍👍👍loads of fun. 5 stars given worth it!!!! Really was a great experience. The kids had fun
ATV was a extremely fun. I loved going through the mud and tunnel. What make the adventure even funnier is Craig and Coleen Lumsden. They are genuine and kind humans.
Was better than what I expected. The atvs and side by sides were relatively new. The ride was slow but fun. Scenery was half ghetto half gorgeous. The guide we had for the safari was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. Over all I would do it again.
Animals not treated very well, kept in small cages and staff even encouraged a girl to STAND ON THE TORTOISE!! Animals kept in direct sunlight and very little to see - wouldn’t call it a safari or any kind!! Absolutely shocking, will specifically let any friends know when visiting negril not to visit here. Shameful way to treat animals. ATV was good experience but previous “safari” really ruined it for us both.
Our driver, Craig and our host, Mario were excellent! Really enjoyed their vibe. They work well together and it tells in their service.
Very unhappy with this tour. Told AmStar rep we wanted a tour into mountains to see marijuana fields and towns. This was not the case. Rode around Jamfest property for 20 minutes in UTV that kept burning oil and would only go 13 mph. Had to make stops for staff to refill oil. Had to wait hours for bus to come back and get us to take to resort. I was told we had to wait for others that rode with us. They did 3 excursions and we only did 1. Very disorganized. Don’t waste your money.
Great people great time fun times! You will be doing 2 excursions back to back and you have an option to eat or finish!
This was absolutely amazing loved every minute of it wish u could ride the ATV for longer the safari tour was amazing experience too I would definitely recommend
I Had A Girls trip we had an amazing time at jamwest our Driver that Took us there Craig Was Amazing Cant Wait To Come Back Will Definitely Hook up with Craig to take us to our adventures amazing respectful Man
We had the best time at Jamwest! We went on the dune buggy tour as a day trip. We also got to go in the mineral bath after our ride, which was very refreshing and fun after riding around in the dirt. Chad and Orlando were awesome tour guides!
Our ATV excursion was soo much fun! Staff at jam west was very friendly. We learned a lot at the safari tour. Would do this tour again.
The ATV part was pretty fun- my husband drove and I was the passenger behind him- I've never driven an ATV before. But the guides there, were very helpful to the beginners and if safety was an issue, they just drove the guest. I felt very safe, helmets were provided as well as having to watch a safety video, and trial laps for the guides to see everyone's driving level. It was definitely rough and bumpy, so not for anyone with physical ailments, or sensitive to getting bumped and tossed around a bit. But perfect for the thrill seeker, adventurous ones! The safari was a bit disappointing, only because I was expecting to see more wildlife. It was very fun and educational. Our guide was funny. They have a part of the tour where you get out and look at some animals that are in cages, which was cool. But driving around, it was mostly just looking at the plants/ greenery. At the end there is an Aviary where you can go in w/ the guides and feed some birds- Hubby did that, I stayed outside (scared of birds). But he said it was amazing. It seemed like a lot of the wildlife was at the end, more captive than wild. It was a nice time though, relaxing; glad we did it.
The ATV was the best part. Most fun!! We all did it as a family so it mainly was just seeing who could ride the best
I had so much fun riding the atv’s and it was a cool experience for my first time doing it. I had a great time.
ATV was awesome the guides made it very fun. The safari was very informative. I learned alot of things I didn't know
Agent Tina was very rude. She was speaking with her coworker about us not knowing we understood what she was saying. I found that very offensive. I would not recommend and I would not return. The ATVs were falling apart. My ATV broke down 5 minutes in. The safari was sub par and overall a waste of money. Would absolutely not recommend.
My group came down for a birthday girls trip and we had a ball at Jam West with Joseph! Request him by name he is the best guide ever!
The mineral bath was fantastic . The guide Orlando made the trip one to remember. He was brilliant with our group and taught me to florat and over come my fears . The atv track was great . Full of fun . And the safari guid also made sure we had fun .. definitely recommend.. jade and ste
Me and my family had an amazing time at jam west. BIG thanks to Joseph for giving us a good time on the trails and also a big thanks to Lennox for coming with us! We had an amazing time, we hope to go back! Thank you every one who were there and helping us out. I would love to come again!
The Staff for the ATV ride were organized, friendly and the equipment was good but how much you enjoy your ATV ride will most likely depend on your experience level. My wife and I are experienced riders and the trip was mostly boring. I observed other guests with little to no experience have the time of there life and thought it was great. The less experience you have the more you will enjoy the ATV ride. The Safari. Don't expect to see a lot because you won't but I have to say our guide worked with what little their is to show us and we had a lot of fun. He was energetic, fun and interacted well with the group. Shout out to our guide Metro you put a smile on everyone's face.
ATV: When my boyfriend and I arrived we were rushed by one of the staff to get to the ATVs. We registered and she did apologize for rushing us. He is diabetic so he was planning on having a small snack beforehand and then going ATVing. We were then asked to order and pay for lunch since it was made to order. Which is fine, the girl that asked us was very soft spoken and seemed new. We politely declined since we were being rushed to go ATVing and was asked to put our things in a locker so I locked away my money naturally. We then waited about 20 minutes to be taken to the ATVs so it was very much a hurry up and wait where we met Rasta. It seemed the rest of our group were locals considering they were speaking patois to each other. My bf and I politely stood off to the side waiting for instruction. Rasta then let us know how it works and we were fitted for helmets. I personally don't think he did a great job of making us feel super included since he would speak to them in patois, turn to us and say a very polite, "just a moment guys" as we stood off to the side where the other staff were just chatting and staring at us. He was very clear with the rules i.e no texting when on the ATV etc. Once we got going there was a very quick tutorial, the ATV has a thumb toggle instead of a pedal, I would not recommend this for anyone that may have wrist/thumb pain like arthritis. I am not sure if they have any options with a pedal. The track itself seems short but it was still fun, I didn't really get to zip around as much as I had hoped since the guy in front of me was very obviously texting. You then stop on a beach where there is a little water/soda/beer hut. This was a bit of an awkward moment because they don't warn you about it before ATVing so if all your money is locked away you can't buy water or anything. Luckily, my bf had some money. There would have been a great opportunity to make everyone feel included, maybe with a bit of soccer on the beach but instead the other four guests chatted, as well as Rasta and the bartender. We were told our photos would be on the website's photo store and we see December 19 is up on the site but we're no where to be found. Maybe because we went with locals? Upon return: We bumped into Andel, who is the VP of sales and marketing (I tried to find him on linked in for his proper title), and he made the rest of our day turn around so quickly. We definitely ran into the right guy. From there we decided to order lunch considering we knew it may take 15-20 minutes like any other restaurant and Andel directed us to the dining area with A/C where we were greeted and served by the BEST server we had the entire trip. Miss Pauline. If you have the pleasure of meeting her you are in for a treat. She is organized, thrives in chaos (the poor woman had to deal with a very large group and they were being very unhelpful to her by changing orders etc and she remained so professional) and gives service with a smile. Once we had our food Adam was very grateful and I made sure to tip and give a very big hug to Miss Pauline specifically. Safari: Andel then was kind enough to introduce us to Metro, the best tour guide for the Safari and had a great time on our private tour of the swamp safari and bird sanctuary where we got to feed the birds! Even a duck! We got to see the Peacocks and there is a really HUGE tortoise in the back that is 80lbs! Thank you Metro for capturing our memories since the ATV pics weren't uploaded. Metro was kind, funny and took a lot of great photos for us! We then spent about 10 minutes at the mineral bath, and met Orlando. Honestly, I only wanted three minutes once I got in the water, it was so cold and I knew my body couldn't handle it. When I did get out Orlando told me to get back in because apparently I was only cold because I "stopped moving" which I never did. I'm not sure why he would say that since he walked away with another couple while my bf and I were in there. Unfortunately that same night I had a very high fever and chills the entire night. Moving forward, it would be beneficial to just allow people to get in and out as they please without making them feel bad. When we did leave he made sure to remind us that tips are appreciated for good service. All in all, when we returned we had the chance to speak with Andel again. Thank you so much for your hospitality. I am sure with the right representatives like Miss Pauline, and Metro this place could have 5/5 bubbles. They truly need to be promoted to management so that they're service excellence can trickle from the top down. Compared to all the other customer service we received they were shining stars! If you come to Ottawa, Canada, please reach out Adam and I would love to host you to some fun activities. Even if you need some Canadian representation you know how to reach me.
The ATVing across the countryside opening up to the coast was awesome! I was also skeptical about the mineral bath at first but boy was I glad I did it. I slept sooooo good that night. Thanks to Orlando for the helpful information about the bath and water properties etc. I'll definitely be going back some time in the future.
I went to celebrate my friends birthday and we had a great time. We chose the safari, ATV and mineral bath and enjoyed every minute. We loved everything there but the ATV ride was our favorite. We opted for a driver for our ATV ride and he did not dissappoint. I can not remember his name but he gave us a fun-filled ride. There was a stop at the beach where we could jump in the water or just enjoy the view. Everyone is nice and the food is delicious. I will definitely be going back during my next visit to this beautiful island.
So I did the ATV and Safari tour. The Safari tour was cool. But it wasn't what I expected. The ATV ride was awesome. It was something I never did before but it was exciting and fun. My guide Noel was awesome. He made sure I was comfortable and he was very knowledgeable about the area and the equipment. I have a great time. The only real complaint i had was there wasn't enough time to do more and The food was cold. Tasty but cold.
The ATV and the Safari were so much fun! Darrin Gunter was my driver and he was so much fun. He kept me safe while making sure I was having a lot of fun! And the mineral pool was litty!!!!!!!
Today we had an excursion with Jamwest and it was great. The activities were great! The safari was nice. I enjoyed Farrel very much as my ATV guide and Orlando at the mineral bath was so professional, informative and fun. The only thing I didn't like was there was no guidance of what to do or where to go next. However everyone was very nice and made sure you had a great time. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Had a great time at Jamwest, Kidd was very polite and hospitable during the Safari. Will return to jamwest with my family in the spring.
ATV was awesome, for my safety Cash suggested he drive because my ATV was powerful than the others, he made my experience great. I appreciate his time & patience he took with me. He kept checking in on me to make sure I was okay during the ride. I was scared at 1st but he assured me I can trust him, after that I was fine. Just wanted to take the time out to thank him "Thanks Cash"
Great combo tour for your money. Everyone was nice and our tour guide on the Safari, Metro, was awesome and very friendly.
Let me begin by saying that I convinced my boyfriend (who had never been to Jamaica before) that going to Negril is worth the travel. I promoted the “7 miles of white sand beach” etc. When we spoke to an AmStar representative, they showed us this day long (no exaggeration there) excursion that included zip lining, horse back riding, a safari (I’ll talk more about that later), and ATV rides (we’ve done this 4 times before at other countries). There were also additional activities that we could’ve done but they were optional. In addition to going to JamWest (where you’re doing all of the excursions) at the end of the day, you’ll travel to Rick’s Cafe in Negril to see the sunset. I had never been to Rick’s Cafe so I was intrigued by that. We both agreed to ride ATVs and go on the “safari”. We knew we would be out all day, leaving our resort at 9am, and not returning until about 8pm we were told. Well, 8pm was an undershoot- we got back to our resort at 9:45pm!!! Let me break down the order of events and the timing... We were picked up at our resort at 9:15, and were the first ones on the bus. “Awesome!” I thought. No, not awesome. For the next 45 minutes, we picked up another 22 people from about 6 other resorts. So the travel time, typically from Montego Bay to Negril is approximately 2 hours. So considering we were done around 10:15 picking up people, we still had another 2 hours to get to Negril. It is what it is. Our driver was extremely friendly and personable (Brian). When we arrived to JamWest, we were given wristbands for the excursions we were planning to do (e.g., blue for ATVs, yellow for the safari, etc.). We waited for the truck to bring us to the excursions we were planning to do. This wait was a little annoying because there was down time in between events, waiting for other people to join our truck after their excursion ended. Our first excursion was the “safari”. The reason I put the word safari in quotation marks is because this was a disappointing reenactment of a safari. There was no interaction with the wild animals (and I don’t consider feeding pigeons interaction- I’m from NYC and can feed pigeons anytime I want). All the animals were caged and at a distance. What was misleading about this excursion was that the pamphlet shows a picture of a person with the boa constructor around their neck. I thought “so cool! I’ll get a picture of a snake around my neck!” Our guide didn’t offer to take the snakes out of the cage. That was a bummer. The best part of JamWest for us was the ATV ride! The vehicles were official compared to other countries we’ve driven ATVs in before. This vehicle had a speedometer, and better traction than any other we’ve used before. The helmets had shields in case mud flies up into your face. JamWest was very safety conscious- we were all required to do a test run to see if we were able to drive ATVs safely. They warned us not to stand while driving the ATV or they'll be escorted off the vehicle. I really respected that! The BEST part of this excursion was seeing the sunset at Rick's Cafe!!! It was absolutely breathtaking...the actual restaurant/bar was really nice too!! Lots of outdoor seating, a balcony area, live music, cliff diving (if you're brave enough-no worries, there's a life guard on duty!) and pretty decent food. It's hectic around the anticipated sunset. You have to try to find a seat and waiter on your own. But the ambiance is great. To sum this review up...if you're looking for a real safari experience, pass. If you want to drive ATVs, I recommend JamWest.
Had an amazing time at jam West Metro our safari guide went far and above expectations Metro made the trip knowledgeable fun interesting and made me not want to leave Metro made me want to come back over and over again every time I come to Negril thanks jam west and thank you Metro yah mon! P.s metro metro metro
I enjoyed the ATV ride the most. It was wet and muddy and dirty, everything I expected. The safari was disappointing a little because There weren't many animals. However, the staff member named Metro made the experience way better. He was very knowledgeable about the animals they did have. He answered all our questions and cracked a few jokes. He's a sweetheart and definitely helped make the tour better.
We had a great time. We did the safari ride and the atv. We were very surprised to find swampy land in Jamaica. We're from New Orleans, we felt right at home with the gators & funk of it all. The driver and older gentleman who gave our tour were incredible. So knowledgeable and really made sure to get us involved. The ATVs were a different story. We were assured that as first time riders, we wouldn't have trouble with the route. Which we didn't, but my sister was slower on her ATV (not our fault your equipment isn't working correctly), and the leader chastised us and yelled at me. He was way too aggressive and I cursed back at him just like he did at me. He was so angry, it was almost scary. Completely uncalled for. He spun his atv around, with a paying customer on the back, and jumped off like a mad man to yell at me. Shouldn't be working with the paying public, or he needs serious training in customer service. Other than him, the ATV ride was amazing. It was such a fun ride through the country. We even drove up some dirt roads in a small community. Super cool waving at the locals as we drove by. I can't give it a 5 star rating because of the jerk we dealt with, but everyone else - bartender, cashier, guest service agents were all so nice and friendly. The manager on duty was very concerned when we reported the rude guy, she knew exactly who we were talking about. She was so very nice to give us complimentary photos to make up for the bad experience. We'll be back for sure. Thanks!
This was an absolutely amazing experience. My husband and I had an incredible time. All of the staff were so helpful and fun and allowed us to completely relax and enjoy ourselves. My horse guide was Mr. Shine and my horse was Aaron. Shine was pleasant, professional and delightful. He made me feel at ease and welcomed. I would definetly recommend Jamwest Motorsports and Adventure Park and I suggest Shine gets a raise!!!
I have never been asked so many times by so many different people “what activity are you doing”. This miscommunication and disorganization here is at an all time high. It took about two hours after arrival to even do the activity I paid for. Also, I had paid to do zip lining but it was heavily raining. It is understandable that is it of their control but when I kept inquiring about it, I kept getting brushed off or told “let’s see if the rain will calm down” when it was clear the rain had no intention of letting up. Although the ATV excursion was a lot of fun, I will not be returning.
We liked our ride (yes a group ride with leu leu tail) on mountain biking. Nothing super exciting but it was still good to see the different courses. The equipment was also good. However for jam culture we were quite disappointed. The guides were very friendly but the content of the tour left much to be desired. I would have liked to learn more about culture. As you can choose the activities to do, we think it would have been beneficial to do another one. Note that we booked this getaway at the hotel (package) which, in addition to three paid activities, included included activities that unfortunately we did not have the chance to do because of the shuttle departure time.
