I can only recommend doing a tour with Gihan Tours! I am alone in Sri Lanka & decided to do this tour so that I don't have to use public transport & to feel safe. Our 9-day tour through Sri Lanka with Gihan Tours in May was an unforgettable experience that we will cherish for a long time. Itinerary: Our journey took us from Negombo to Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella, and down to the southern part of Sri Lanka. Each stop on our route was well thought out and offered us a variety of cultural and scenic highlights. Particularly impressive were the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya, the cultural capital of Kandy with the Temple of the Tooth, and the breathtaking tea plantations in Ella. A special highlight was the two safaris we took: one in Sigiriya and one in Udawalawe National Park. Both safaris were excellently organized and gave us unforgettable insights into Sri Lanka's rich wildlife. Transportation: We traveled in a comfortable mini-van, which was ideal for two people and had plenty of space for our luggage. The van was not only comfortable but also well air-conditioned, which was very pleasant given the warm temperatures. Our driver and guide Ashen was always punctual and drove very safely, so we felt well taken care of at all times. His driving was calm and secure, and he knew the best routes to get us to our destinations quickly and comfortably. Accommodations: The accommodations that Gihan selected for us were excellent. We stayed in charming, smaller guesthouses and B&Bs, all of which were very clean and had friendly hosts. Each accommodation had its own special charm and significantly contributed to our comfort. Activities and Experiences: Our guide Ashen made the trip extremely varied and exciting. He organized impressive safaris where we could experience Sri Lanka's diverse wildlife and took us to picturesque waterfalls that we hiked to. Additionally, we visited numerous temples and historical sites that provided us with deep insights into the country's rich culture and history. Ashen's extensive knowledge and enthusiasm made every activity a special experience. He was always attentive, responsive to our needs, and made the trip truly special with his friendly and professional manner. Food and Drink: The breakfast at the guesthouses and hotels was always plentiful and delicious. During the day, we tried local snacks at small cafes or roadside stands, which gave us an authentic taste of Sri Lankan cuisine. was planning a trip to Sri Lanka pre Covid and had spoken to Gihan previously. As we had to cancel it due to travel restrictions . As soon as I knew that we were coming over I contacted Gihan and made plans . He had so many suggestions and recommendations to my plans that worked out so well . We had a great driver Shamath and nothing was too much trouble for him . He stopped for photos and helped us find atm and SIM cards . They were no hidden extras and surprises at the end of the trip as we had discussed payment with Gihan. We also had independence from the driver after the long trips . He was always looking out for us and even organised a great tuk tuk driver to take us from Demodara station to nine arch bridge as the train was late . That was one of our best experiences. We loved having Shamath as our driver . He knew we loved elephants so would stop if he saw any near the side of the road . Gihan also organised a fantastic guide for Yala - Shanka- he was so knowledgeable and kind and a guided safari for Habarana. Definitely go with Gihan and ask him about possibilities and he will let you know what he thinks is best . Our trip - day1 collect from Negombo- drive to Sigyura afternoon game safari Habarrana - stay at village. Day 2 - maybe climb sigyura ( we didn’t) then trip to Polonnaruwa,- ancient city ruins Day 3 - drive sigyura to Ella vis Dambulla temple . Day 4 - train trip Demodara to Bandarawela - with tuk tuk to nine arch - pm climb little Adam’s peak . Day 5 - Ella to tissaharama via falls and rock carvings of Buduruwagala.refreshment stop at the cafe near car park Then dropped off at 2pm Tissamaharama with safari driver to drop us at hotel and then do afternoon safari . Comprehensive 5 days . The places we saw and the history were incredible.

We booked a 7-day round trip with Gihan Tours. We started in Negombo and went to Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella and Tissamaharama. Our guide Kumara was a very funny, friendly guy. He is a super safe driver who made us feel comfortable at all times. The car was also super big and comfortable. Kumara was able to tell us a lot about the country, the people and the culture during the trip. Everything was very well organized and spontaneous changes were possible at any time. We had a really great, exciting time and would recommend Gihan Tour and Kumara to anyone. Thank you very much!

Gihan and his team organised a lovely 2 day trip for us. Our highlights were the Safari at Yala, Mirrisa beaches, Galle and the lovely beach stay at Unawatuna. Gihan was always prompt with his communication and organised our trip very efficiently. Kumara our driver/guide was was punctual, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We wanted to see how batik dyeing is done and he went out of his way to take us to a home where we got to see this. The undiluted praise for Gihan and his staff in earlier reviews is completely deserved. This trip was delayed for several years and had to be rearranged again and again, whether because of Covid or other reasons but this was taken by Gihan in his stride. Ultimately, we decided opon the 14 night full island experience and were delighted with the result. From the moment we arrived at Colombo to the moment of our return, we were looked after every step of the way and saw aspects of this beautiful country that those on a more packaged tour would miss. The hotels were carefully chosen and represented the best of local hospitality, the itinerary meant we saw nearly all of the island but without too many long journeys (one of the longest was the famous train journey from Nurawa Elya to Ella)), which were themselves made shorter by our incredible guide/driver Ashen. Ashen managed the miraculous trick of always being on hand when he was wanted or needed but never when he wasn't. Sri Lanks has suffered a lot in the last few years and is only just recovering. However, the land, the sights and, above all, the people remain some of the most beautiful on earth. We can only encourage anyone considering it as a destination to go as soon as you can and, to enjoy the best of the amazing things on offer, use Gihan and his staff. At first - huge thanks to our driver and meanwhile friend Kumara because he made our trip special and gave everything to satisfy us. We spent 2 weeks in Sri Lanka - 10 tour days with Gihan Tours incl. airport transfers and 5 in a beach hotel. Within 3 mails about our expectations and wishes Gihan edited a perfect planned private tour incl. all must-sees, secret spots and overnight stays with his driver Kumara for us. Without any payment in advance and our trust into him, we weren‘t disappointed in any way. Warmly welcomed at the airport by our driver he supported us in every situation, and guided us through the whole journey with his funny but also very competent being. He knows so much about country, culture, as well as religious things and stopped at many streetfood spots to invite us and taste the flavour of Sri Lankan kitchen. Furthermore he spontaneously drove us to places we wanted to go and respected also the relaxation and the couple togetherness of us. Both the planned program and also the not programmed activities and interesting spots gave us a wonderful image of country and people. In addition we felt safe at any time with him and he took over all organisational things. The van we rode was big, with all amenities and well air conditioned. Also the overnight stays Gihan organized were really good. Alltogether we really enjoyed our trip with Gihan Tours and the driver Kumara a lot and we are even a little bit sad to leave our new friend Kumara and his beautiful home country Sri Lanka. We spent three days in Sri Lanka in late October 2023. Upfront, Gihan was extremely helpful and accommodating and planned a tour for us according to our interests. He even included places we wanted to see that were previously not on the list of things travellers usually request. Our driver and guide Chamara picked us up at the airport on time and welcomed us in a friendly and professional manner. He was always happy to answer our questions about people, country and culture, very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make it a great experience for us. We requested some last minute changes to the tour that Chamara was able to make possible for us. Chamara is a very safe and considerate driver. We normally travel on our own and scout out things ourselves so having a fully guided tour was new to us, but Gihan Tours and Chamara made it a worthy experience. Accommodation was excellent, and we got Sri Lankan breakfast on request. 7 out of 5, would do again!

My wife and i decided to make our Honeymoon in Sri Lanka. We‘ve decided to book a private driver from gihan service. And what can i say? It was perfectly organized :) our driver Mr. Chamara was not just like a driver for us. He is a warm hearthed Person with a beautiful Soul and always there If you had any questions or needed help. Sri Lanka is an amazing place to visit and steeps in so much history with a really interesting culture of Buddhism with many temples to visit across the island. Now, our journey started when I started researching Sri Lanka as a potential place for my wife and I to visit in 2023. We contacted Gihan, the owner of a tour company who replied back to my tour request with a well structured tour, which we could do with one of his drivers (Kumara), the proposed itinerary looked very good, so my wife and I booked an 8 day, 7 night tour. Kumara, our driver, picked us up early in the morning, ready for us to explore. He was very friendly and made everything very easy, pointing things out and sharing his knowledge with us. If you are thinking of visiting Sri Lanka, then this is the way to do it. Book a tour with this company, you will not be disappointed, the vehicle provided we clean, well air conditioned and Kumara made sure that we had fresh water daily for our journey and also stopped along the way to get us some interesting fruits, like red bananas and lychee. We always felt safe with Kumara. I can only give 5 stars, if I could give more, then I would.

We had the most excellent experience using Gihan tours Sri Lanka. He was extremely helpful assisting to plan our itinerary and very flexible with dates, destinations and activities. He was very quick to reply to all emails and communication, and knew all the best things to do and recommend things along the way. He was an extremely safe and efficient driver, but also a super friendly, funny and informative tour guide. He gave us such great tips and help to manage our time and schedule to maximise opportunities. We had a really comfortable van (only 2 of us travelling, could fit 4-5 easily), it was very clean and AC worked perfectly (very hot here). We have just completed 10 days in Sri Lanka in what the media reports as uncertain times. Thanks for Gihan and Kamara we would never have known any of this was going on. We had an absolutely amazing trip. The safaris and the Hikes we did were like no other I've seen before. All of our accommodation was booked via gihan and we loved every place we stayed. Sri lanka is a truly beautiful country but we genuinely believe it was made as special as it was by using Gihan and Kamara as our guides. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Accompanied on our hikes, taken to the nicest restaurants, found us some lovely arrack and beers, accommodated our airport runs. And all the time with smiles on their faces and checking we were all okay and having a good time. An absolutely amazing trip that I will never forget. Thank you both for your kindness!

Right from the planning stages of our trip to being here in Sri Lanka with Gihan and Kumara, their service has been impeccable and we really couldn’t have asked for anything else. They went over and above for us, from multiple airport pick ups as the 4 of us were arriving at different times, to buying umbrellas for us when it rained, and being really flexible when we saw a beach club after our hike and decided we’d prefer the afternoon there instead! We squeezed a lot into our ten days but really saw the best of Sri Lanka with a well thought out itinerary and suggestions as to how/where to spend our down time. Easily the best holiday I’ve ever had! Gihan and Kumara are absolutely wonderful. They could not have done any more for us and I am so so glad we decided to go with a tour guide. I’d usually organise tours myself but this completely took the stress away and we got the real Sri Lankan experience. Amazing safari, cooking lesson, food recommendations, and overall the best holiday. We had zero problems (re: political issues) and they could not have done anymore for us. Both were SO genuine and sincere and they have made our holiday and I will 100% be going back to Sri Lanka again as we had an amazing experience 😍😍😍😍 thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Me, my wife and our 1 year old son have had a great 2 week tour around Sri Lanka with Janaka. Our tour covered all of Sri Lanka’s best sights in the south west. From the beach, mountains, jungle, safari and again beach. Janaka organized us a baby seat, was always on time, made sure the car (a mini bus that could take up to 10 people) was always fueled up and despite the challenges with diesel he also ensured we had jerry cans on board to ensure we could finish our almost 2 weeks tour. Apart from driving he taught us about the culture, made us try different local fruits, vegetables and also spices like cinnamon and black pepper on trees fresh from the trees we passed on the road. He helped us organize tickets for cultural events, laundry, recommended restaurants, tea plantations , hidden beaches, shared some of the history at famous sights and when the hotel we booked ourselves for Safari didn’t have a pool, he made sure we could use the pool of another hotel. We did learn that locals in most cases could get a better deal for hotels, so if you have your trip figured out I recommend the tour organization to cross check if they can get you a better deal. Our son was playing often with Janaka and was really happy. He was like an uncle to him. We hope to have the chance to visit Sri Lanka again some time soon and then visit the less explored east coast with the guidance of Janaka. Many thanks for the great experiences.

A friend recommended Gihan Tours and she was absolutely right, this was the best choice we could make. Planning the trip with Gihan via email was very easy. Our driver Manoj picked us up from the airport. He is a very safe and good driver considering the sometimes crazy traffic. The car was comfortable and spacious. Manoj accompanied us to all the sights and was a huge help during our trip. He is a polite, honest, funny and open minded young man. He always made us feel comfortable and even introduced us to friends. All of them were very kind and made us feel welcome. All accommodations were good, however we chose 2 by ourselves, which was not a problem and Manoj also arranged an upgrade for us in kandy. In Yala we were not lucky to see a leopard, although the guide did his very best to find one and even extended the tour. Nevertheless it was a great safari. At the end of our tour we were dropped off at Tangalle. And after our beachdays Manoj also arranged to pick us up and gave us a ride to the airport. Huge thank you for this awesome trip!!

Fully recommend Gihan Tours without any exceptions - from Tour Planning including communication prior to the trip to the tour itself, which was amazing. We went on vacation with Gihan Tours in March 2022 for 9 days (Negombo - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya - Ella - Yala - Utawalawe - Mirissa) with our two children (both below the age of 4). Our driver and guide was Indra. He did an outstanding job and made our stay a perfect one! He is kind, friendly, calm, very likable and provided an exceptional service level. Always flexible and open to our needs and wants. He was constantly recommending the right things whenever needed. Traveling with two young children is not stress-free all the time, but Indra always tried to look out for us and making our time as seamless as possible. Plus, he is a safe driver (as safe as possible considering the Sri Lankan driving style of all that are on the road). On top of that he handled special situations exceptionally well and made us always feel taken care of. May it be injuries of our kids or when we left some toys at our last accommodation before we went on without a driver. Indra was always doing his best to support, find solutions and was simply providing a great service (and we got our bag of toys back on our last day in Sri Lanka!! Thank you so much, Indra and Gihan!). One small caveat regarding our stay: Not all accommodations that we booked via Gihan Tours were 100% what we usually look for. But, it’s fair to add that we booked quite spontaneously and some of the accommodations were not available anymore. Just look up the places Gihan recommends beforehand and you can arrange with him to make adjustments accordingly. Anyway, Gihan Tours and especially Indra are great and were the PERFECT choice for us. @Indra, @Gihan: Thank you so much for being awesome!

We did a 8-day tour, starting in Colombo and finishing in Hikkaduwa. The experience was great since the beginning, even before travelling to Sri Lanka. We booked the trip just 7 days before flying and Gihan answered very quickly and adapted the plan to our needs.Pricing was reasonable and there was the option to book with or without accommodation. Once in Sri Lanka, the experience with Indra as a driver was the best. He took very good care of us during the whole trip. He was giving information about the country and his recommendations for restaurants and activities were excellent. Also, he was adapting the plan to fit our needs and preferences. He always helped us with communication with locals and he went above and beyond to help us solve some issues that we had during the trip. We felt very safe with his driving and he also cleaned the van daily. The van was huge and with AC. Also he got us little snacks and water quite a few times during the trip which was a very nice gesture. If we visit Sri Lanka again in the future we will for sure book again with Gihan tours and Indra, and if you are planning a trip to Sri Lanka we highly recommend it!

We did a 5 day tour in starting in Negombo, finishing in Merissa. The communication with Gihan per email was easy, he usually replied within minutes. We intended to do some change to the standard tour they offer which was also no problem. The driver/guide on our trip was Niran and we really enjoyed the trip with him. The itinerary was organised well, there was enough time to see all the attractions. It was also possible to make short-time adjustments. Also all the hotels were well selected. Our guide Niran tried to fullfill all our wishes. He bought us fresh tropic fruits so we could try them and he recommended us excellent restaurants. His driving style is calm and we never felt unsafe. Niran was always friendly, openmindet and his English is very good. We can fully recommend booking a tour with Gihan and Niran.

GIhan and GTLS tours was recommended by friends and we felt very comfortable from the beginning. Gihan responded swiftly to every e-Mail and helped us to finalise the perfect 10 day route for us. No deposit required, cancellation would have been possible in a short term notice (due to Covid uncertainty). 2 weeks prior to arrival we were informed that Jude would be our driver, and we are very happy with this! Jude is a very knowledgeable, nice, friendly and funny guy. He answered all our questions (and there were lots of them) and we learned so much about the county and the people. We really enjoyed his company! Jude is very careful driver and we felt safe at all times in Sri Lanka’s crazy traffic. We highly recommend GTSL tours and Jude and could not have made a better choice. We travelled 8 days from Kosgoda to Southcoast, Uda Walawe National Park, Ella , Kandy, Adams Peak,Dambulla, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Negombo with Gihan tours. Our driver was Mr Janaka. The service was perfect. We wer picked up on the minute and everything was organized in detail. The hotels were all very nice with a personal touch so that the stay at each location was comfortable and chilled. The driver is very experienced and showed us a lot of details along the trip often linked to people ‚ s daily life or nature. Gihan offered a variety of attractions but we could always chose and create our own program. Mr Janaka is a very nice person with a lot of empathy for his guests and a master in time management

We had our doubts if a driver would really be necessary for our first Sri Lanka trip with our 3 year old. Especially because we decided not to go on the typical driving intense round trip to the mountains, since we wanted to keep our kid's motion sickness to a minimum. We wanted a simple and easy beach leisure holiday on the south coast with some animal safari. Trip planning and communication with Mr. Gihan was incredibly smooth and quick during the days before our trip, and we felt that he respected all of our wishes. Since our 3 year old is usually not a good driving companion, Mr. Gihan made sure that we had a fantastic driver (Ashen), and a super modern Van with a children car seat, so that our kid's motion sickness was reduced as much as possible. Now that we are back, I realize that having such an amazing driver like Ashen with us was key to the perfect holidays we spent in Sri Lanka. Travelling with a 3 year old always requires a lot of flexibility and patience, and this is exactly what we got with Ashen. From improvised lunch, snack and toilet stops, excellent restaurant and hotel recommendations, useful local information and history, to most importantly, on the spot detours while the kid was napping for example, was exactly what made it so perfect and accommodated the needs of the whole family, all together with a super nice attitude. Ashen was our local security angel who allowed us to relax and enjoy our holidays in a country that we didn't know. We had a wonderful holiday in Sri Lanka (8 nights, 9 days). The tour was very well planned and even if desired, they responded immediately top. Gihan always responds very quickly to emails. The hotels booked by the travel agency also left no room for complaint. A special thanks to our driver Tushara who accompanied us for the 2 weeks and showed his driving skills! He was accommodating and very friendly and picked us up every morning with clean car and water bottles. And if he still improves his English skills you can exchange more impressions and information.

From the beginning we guided ourselves with our guide, Gihan completely comfortable and in good hands. Even before we started the trip, he supported us superbly in planning the eight-day trip a lot of love and patience. Comfortable trip in a minibus for our first trip to Sri Lanka, an absolute highlight. Gihan told us a lot about the country, the people and gave us the opportunity to try many typical things, especially the food. We explored the country as part of our 10-day tour with Gihan Tours Sri Lanka – and what can I say: it was one of the best trips we have ever made! 🥰 Everything just went smoothly from the start. From the very first contact we were able to openly express our wishes – especially our great interest in nature, wildlife and national parks. Gihan then put together an individual tour for us that not only met our expectations, but really far exceeded them. The contact was very straightforward all the time via Whatsapp and you never had to wait long for a response from him! Our route took us from Sigiriya via Kandy, through the beautiful mountains near Ramboda, on to Ella, into the Yala National Park and finally into the Deniyaya rainforest. And this last stop was actually an absolute highlight – because Gihan not only gave us the idea to stay there (which we would never have thought of ourselves), but also organized a very special accommodation in the middle of the rainforest. An experience we will never forget! Gihan himself was a real lucky man as a driver and guide. Funny, easygoing, safe, likeable and absolutely professional. He answered each of our questions with patience, was extremely flexible with spontaneous changes or small extra requests and just always had a sense of what we might like. If we ever wanted to skip something or do something differently, that was no problem for him at all. We really appreciated this simplicity. The car was top: modern, clean, very comfortable and pleasantly air-conditioned – just what you need for longer distances in a warm country. At the larger sights Gihan had organized, private tours ready for us and that at no extra charge, only a small tip for the guides was welcome. Especially cool: for the famous culture dance in Kandy he had reserved us seats in the front row, and the visit to the Tooth Temple he timed so that we arrived just in time for the ceremony. These little things make all the difference. Also the accommodations Gihan booked for us were consistently great. Everything very clean, comfortable, well located and never “off the shelf”, but always with charm and character. You can just tell he knows what he's doing and he's doing his best for each of his guests. We have travelled a lot and made some round trips, but this tour was really an absolute highlight. The mix of organisation, flexibility, insider knowledge and genuine warmth was just perfect. If you don’t just want to “see” Sri Lanka, but want to experience it – we can heartily recommend Gihan to you.

Wonderful family trip thanks to Gihan! Our trip through Sri Lanka with our two young children (2 and 6 years) was a complete success, thanks mainly to our driver Gihan. He was incredibly attentive and fulfilled every one of our wishes. Especially with children, his flexibility was worth gold. Unforgettable tour of Sri Lanka with Kumara! Our trip through Sri Lanka was simply fantastic – and we owe this mainly to our great guide Kumara! From Sigiriya to Ella to Yala National Park, he not only accompanied us safely, but also inspired us with exciting stories, insider tips and warm hospitality. In Sigiriya Kumara led us to the famous Lion Rock early in the morning so we could enjoy the breathtaking view before the tourist crowds arrived. He also showed us the lesser-known but equally impressive places in the area. Ella was an absolute highlight – from the hike to Little Adam’s Peak via the Nine Arches Bridge to the spectacular train ride through the highlands. Kumara knew exactly when and where the best photo spots were! The highlight was our visit to Yala National Park. Kumara knew the best ways off the beaten track, and we could see elephants, crocodiles and many other animals up close – even if the famous leopard unfortunately didn’t show up. Nevertheless, it was a unique experience! The organization was perfect, the transport convenient, and the accommodations he recommended to us were really good. If you want to experience Sri Lanka authentically and stress-free, you should definitely travel with Kumara – absolutely recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
