We’ve just returned from an unforgettable trip through Sri Lanka. I wanted to share how special the experience was. A huge part of what made this trip so enjoyable was our private driver Aruna Dasanayake. He was always courteous and an absolute professional throughout. He had a great knowledge of the country, its history and culture. Nothing was ever too much. He anticipated our need for coffee stops, paced the trip perfectly and made us feel completely at ease from start to finish. It was clear he took great pride in his work. If you’re considering a private tour in Sri Lanka, I can’t recommend this style of travel highly enough especially with a driver like Aruna. It allowed us to experience the country comfortably and safely and we had a very memorable trip.

From the time we landed in Sri Lanka we have had an amazing experience. Our driver Suranga was punctual every day with a clean and vaccumed car and a fresh bottle of water for each of us. We were able to adjust some of the types of our activities eg cycling and replace with an alternative easily. Plans for the next day were discussed at the end of each day. Driving in Sri Lanka is crazy but we felt very safe with him. We visited some amazing places and we were constantly surprised with the range of accomodation, 4 star but off the beaten track with stunning views. Suranga was charming and patient and ensured we were comfortable and happy at the end of each day. He also has a great sense of humour.

We have just spent 11 days travelling around Sri Lanka with BH Lanka Tours. We are very happy we chose a tour with a driver in a modern air conditioned car. We can thoroughly recommend it, the days were long and busy and our driver named Udara was wonderful, very professional, caring and a great sense of humour. It made the tour very enjoyable. Udara gave us a lot of helpful information about what would happen when we arrived at an attraction I.e. do we tip, show us where to get tickets and also what to look out for re scammers, this was very reassuring and made everything a positive experience.

This was our first time in Sri Lanka. I selected BH Lanka Tours because of their high rating. We are very happy with this choice. The eight day tour allows time to capture many of key sites and experiences, and we added the ancient capital Polonnaruwa to the itinerary (gave up a day at the beach). I chose the superior package to get the best hotels. Most of the hotels were stunningly beautiful with attentive staff and excellent buffets for breakfast and dinner. And a special shoutout to Udara, our private driver and guide. His driving skills are outstanding. He had many suggestions - such as where to have laundry done - and made accommodations for me, as I arrived with an injured hip and therefore had mobility issues. And he was always pleasant and informative. Thank you Udara!

My husband began planning our trip to Sri Lanka a year ago and after researching a number of the tour companies selected BH Lanka. We contracted for a 17 day tour with a private driver and guide. Throughout the pre-trip communications. Sanju at BH Lanka responded immediately and was very helpful and professional. At one point, we were concerned about the flooding and cyclone destruction in Sri Lanka but Sanju reassured us that the infrastructure would be repaired by the time we arrived, and it was. The hotels and itinerary that Sanju set up were great. We also thank him for selecting an exceptional driver and guide for us. We were met at the airport in Colombo by our driver, Chanuka Weersinghe. From our very first greeting, we felt at ease with him. He was so friendly, fluent in English, accommodating our needs with a smile and a sense of humour. As we proceeded through our 17 day journey, we also appreciated his exceptional driving skill (traffic can be crazy!), his knowledge of his country and ability to select the best timing and perspectives in all of the historical and natural sites that we visited. For example, Chanuka made sure that our routing missed the worst heat of the day, or if we were on a hike (9kms through Hortons Plains!), that the final part was mostly downhill and in the shade. Thank you Chanuka!! The beauty of the country and the friendliness of the people draw you to Sri Lanka. As experienced travelers, we notice when the presentation of that beauty is brought to the next level by the itinerary and guide. We took home fond memories of Sri Lanka and the credit goes to BH Lanka and Chanuka Weersinghe. .

We have had an excellent tour to Sri Lanka with BH Lanka but what made it exceptional was our guide Bhathi. The organisation of the tour was first rate, we had 19 days and so we were able to add some time into Trincomalee on the east coast, through Galle on the south and up to Colombo on the west coast taking in cultural sites, safaris and whale watching. When organising the holiday, BH Lanka suggested an itinerary that we were able to tweak to be able to cover all the things we wanted to see and do. Throughout the tour, Bhathi really looked after us, imparting his knowledge of the sites we visited and talking to us about life in Sri Lanka. He also has a lot of contacts in the places we visited and made sure we had the best seats in the house at the cultural show and on the whale watching boat. He was friendly from the beginning and we became firm friends during our tour. He also took time to teach us some of the Sinhala language, which we appreciated. He takes lots of photos that he shared with us and we always felt safe when he was driving on the interesting and challenging Sri Lankan roads!

We usually book tours through a UK operator but thought to try something different this time. BH Lanka had good reviews and were able to offer a more bespoke service. My contact was Chamini who was very patient and helpful as we defined our itinerary. Chamini was also able to reassure us that Sri Lanka was ‘open for business’ following the devastating cyclone. Our tour included the cultural triangle, the eastern and southern coasts and Colombo and we had 3 safaris too. Our favourite hotels were in Sigiriya (Kassapa Lions Rock) and Yala (Chaarya Resort). We found the hotel in Ella (Flower Garden Resort) a bit soulless but it was redeemed by the most fantastic view from the room. However the holiday has been made by our guide Bathi. He has gone above and beyond to ensure that our experience of Sri Lanka will be unforgettable. He is extremely knowledgeable and has imparted this knowledge with patience and good humour. When we expressed an interest in the commonwealth war graves he made sure we were able to visit in both Trincomalee and Kandy. On safari he was invaluable in making sure that we had front row views of all the animals - his prayer to the leopard gods worked too. He is also an avid photographer and has shared these with us throughout. Driving in Sri Lanka is an art and not for the faint hearted - we felt safe with Bathi at all times. We will leave Sri Lanka with a smattering of the language courtesy of our daily lesson. The word I will remember though is lassanayi - it means beautiful and Sri Lanka lives up to this in spades.

I have had a wonderful time travelling around seeing the many parts of Sri Lanka and coming here that was my goal to see as much sightseeing as possible. This tour allows just that and despite staying in each area for a short amount of time (for a 6 day tour) it has still allowed for the experience of many areas from safaris, to turtle hatchery, the Sigiriya rock fortress, Nine Arches Bridge, Whale watching, herb gardens, tea plantations Ayurveda treatments to allow some relaxation, and many more! Thank you for this opportunity to be able to see so many parts of Sri Lanka spaced out far apart from each other over a majority of distance in such a short amount of time! My tour driver has also been very professional and enabled me to get to and from each area safely! Thank you! The only thing I would do differently and would recommend for future travellers is to do the tour for longer to allow for a bit more time to be able to enjoy between each stay before moving onto the next part. Otherwise a very good tour to see many parts of this beautiful country if like myself you have no other option and are limited for time.

We had a fantastic time, our driver Ravi could not be any better, he was there for us on time any time and would make sure we could see everything we wanted. we had a few long days however this was needed to see everything and to beat the crowds and out of the heat. Every night we would be dropped off at beautiful hotels, so we could have a swim after the excellent days of sight seeing. The experience we had could not be better from visiting temples, forts both a safari and river safari and a sea cruise (seeing Leopards, wild elephants whales, and dolphins and a variety of colorful birds. The travelling through the mountains was extraordinary and visiting colonial and modern cities.

Simply terrific. Chanuka our driver was extremely friendly and accommodating. he had a wealth of knowledge and looked after the four of us with great care. He was allways on time and wonderfully seemed to sense when we wanted to rest. There was no stress for the entire trip and we were all relaxed in Chanuka’s company. Great and safe driver and the car supplied was large and comfortable. The selection of hotels were of a high quality as were the meals although the continual evening buffets were a bit hard to take, Really enjoyed the one a la cart meal we had. Review of Sri Lanka Tour We retained BH Lanka tours to arrange a tour of Sri Lanka. We added a few days to the 15 day tour to take a couple of extra safaris and to have more time in Galle and Colombo. The tour went well, and we saw most of the amazing sights of Sri Lanka. Our guide was Mr. Bathiya (Batty) who was extremely knowledgeable, and very energetic. He was also quite a versatile photographer, and we have a set of more than 100 pictures which he took for us and sent to us via Whatsapp. He was also on some of the safaris and has an excellent eye for wildlife. I would note that Sri Lanka driving is not for the faint of heart, and we were happy that Batty drove effectively with knowledge of the local customs. Sri Lanka driving wasn’t dangerous but the customs are completely different than on North American highways, as are the distances between oncoming cars. It must be said that all this was done starting 3.5 weeks after the worst cyclone in the history of Sri Lanka (Nov 25 cyclone and we started our tour Dec 19). Batty had to reschedule some of our activities to avoid those things that were inaccessible, or questionable. One thing travellers should be aware of is that finding credible restaurants outside the hotel is trickier than you would think based on experience in Europe or America. There are some great restaurants and many that just scrape by. It’s hard to distinguish between those two categories. It’s easy to get a Tuk-Tuk to take you there and back if you do find a credible outside restaurant (negotiate Tuk-Tuk fares in advance). In Galle fort or downtown Ella or in Negombo there are more credible outside restaurants than in many of the places one stays on the trip. In the end we did a lot each day and we were tired so we almost always ate at our hotel. We did have some very good lunches at restaurants which do a reasonable volume business for a combination of Sri Lankan and tourist customers. Notable sights were: 2 Safaris in Wilpattu, one in Minneraya, one in Yala, and one it Udawale, the temples of Anuradhapura, the temples of Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya rock fortress,the cave temples of Dambulla (this is an underrated sight), the Kandy Botanical garden, the Temple of Tooth Relic, the tea farms, our traditional village visit and meal, the train journey from Nuwara Eliya to Ella (this is highly touted and it’s actually even better than expected), Galle Fort, the 9 Arch bridge, Minneriya Safari, yala Safari, Udawalale Safari, Waterfalls We strongly recommend travelling with Batty and BH Lanka.

We have just completed a 6 night/ 7 day tour of Sri Lanka with our private guide / driver Sidath from BH Lanka tours. From start to finish the tour was extremely well organised and all the included hotels had something special about them. Our guide Sidath was amazing professional, knowledgeable and included lots of added extras that made the trip especially memorable.

BH Lanka arranged our tour with our superb chauffer guide, Janaka. We gave BH Lanka a rough idea of what we wanted to fit into our time and they pieced it together and made all the bookings at the hotels, and provided us with our itinerary, including some things we hadn't thought of doing. Janaka was a fantastic chauffeur guide: thoughtful, endlessly professional, attentive and knowledgeable. He would make sure that we were settled into our hotels, suggest places to eat, helped with ticket offices at sites and the scenic train journey booking, kept his car immaculately clean and tidy and could not have done any more to make it a wonderful holiday; we will be recommending him and BH Lanka to any friends and family who want to visit Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's roads can be a little hairy but we felt completely at ease with Janaka's driving which was always calm and comfortable, and his car clean and air conditioned. In addition, Janaka's knowledge of Sri Lanka, its history and people, and its flora and fauna was incredible - he put up with our endless questions about "What is that bird / fruit / tree?" and knew all the answers - or would find them out - and provided real insight at some of the historical sites and national parks we visited, and the culture of Buddhism and how it has shaped the country. We were very impressed with him and learning so much from him really brought the country to life and made it memorable. BH Lanka booked some wonderful accommodation (particularly in the centre and north of Sri Lanka), though we were a bit less enthused by the resort accommodation they booked us into in the south which was more impersonal and noisy - so if we were to do something like this again, we would specify to the company that we preferred smaller and family run hotels if possible - but that really is the only point of feedback we would give from the whole trip. Overall, it was a truly fantastic trip where we felt extremely well looked after by Janaka, greatly appreciated all his care to make it a worthwhile tour, and would recommend Sri Lanka and BH Lanka and Janaka to anyone.

We booked this tour 4 months in advance after friends told us what great time they had in Sri Lanka. We originally booked the 12 day Grand Tour with BH Lanka tours through an Australian company, Tour Radar, and thought we would be travelling with a small group on a bus. It seemed like good value. BH Lanka offers a wide range of tour options, which are well priced and competitive. The company reps were very efficient with good pre-tour prep. We were met at the airport by a signholding representative of the company who got us to our hotel without fuss. After our first 'settling in' day at Earl's Regent gotel, Negombo, we were met on day 2 by Nalin Dissanayake, who advised us we would be on a private guided tour with him..... it would appear that no other guests had signed up for our tour. This was a fortunate turn of events. We had never done a private tour like this before. It makes the trip so much easier than a coach tour. We recommend that first-time visitors to Sri Lanka seriously consider taking a private tour. It is cheaper than you would think, and definitely good value for money. Without other guests to worry about, we could be flexible with itinerary and timing. In addition, having someone with local knowledge and contacts makes life so much easier. Nalin Dissanayake is an extremely professional and attentive English speaking guide. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He was always thinking ahead and was kind and considerate. Nalin has good knowledge of flora and fauna and an excellent knowledge of Sri Lankan history. Our trip was an excellent experience that balanced history, culture, nature, and relaxation. There was a range of accommodation from 3 to 4+ stars. Some were excellent - see our other reviews A special thank you to Nalin for being such an excellent host. Definitely 5 out of 5.

We came to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon, and thanks to Rohan it turned into the trip of a lifetime. From the first day, he made us feel so comfortable — not just as a driver and guide, but as a true friend. Every day he surprised us with something special. We visited a tea factory and learned about the process, explored a beautiful temple that left us speechless, and even got the chance to ride elephants — something we’ll never forget. Today he introduced us to durian fruit for the first time, and let’s just say it was… an experience! 😅 Rohan always made sure we were safe, happy, and enjoying every moment. His driving is excellent, his knowledge of the country is amazing, and his kindness made us feel like we were part of his family. For a honeymoon, it was the perfect balance of adventure, culture, and fun. If you’re planning a trip to Sri Lanka, do yourself a favor — ask for Rohan. He turned our honeymoon into memories we’ll carry for a lifetime.

The tour was well organised beforehand and they accommodated our request to do the tour anticlockwise rather than clockwise, which is the usual route. Our driver and guide, Janaka met us at the airport and was excellent throughout. He suggested alternatives to the planned itinerary to improve our experience. He was very knowledgeable about Sri Lanka, as well as being a careful and safe driver. He was always friendly and polite. A few weeks before we went, I had damaged my knee and Janaka was very helpful going up and down steps and suggested trips for Ayurvedic massage, which really helped me. Overall a great experience and we would recommend Janaka as a great guide and chauffeur.

Good way to explore the island, too many tourists traps, they take you to multiple places that are far from being the true experience one might’ve looking for, other than that the logistics, the driver, accommodation (we did the 4 star hotels) were good. You don’t really have a guide guide, it’s more a driver, he does tell us some of the history of things, but we had to do some research on our own. Hopefully the company would be more transparent with the things they offer and the places they take you.

We got to see all of Sri Lanka on this tour and the whole thing was so comfortable. Our tour guide Chin was amazing as he was able to tailor our experience to what we wanted to do and was super knowledgeable.

We booked for a small group tour but were So lucky to have Udara as our personal driver. He was so lovely and could not have done more for us. He was a skilful careful driver who went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. He showed us extra places not on the itinerary which were always very interesting. He had a lot of local knowledge which he was happy to share with us. Every day was very varied and interesting. He was always prompt, always made sure we were safe and the checking-in at the hotels went smoothly. We really enjoyed our time with Udara and can thoroughly recommend him.

We have been on the road for 22 days in wonderful Sri Lanka. Our guide, protector and driver, Nishantha Kumara, had done a fantastic job. We have covered a lot of Sri Lanka. From the city of Colombo to the highlands of tea plantations, national parks and beautiful beaches. Our favourites have been walking in Horton Plains at 2000 metres just a great experience. Yala national park and the wildlife can only be seen by safari. We did a day safari in Yala and found a beautiful male leopard. Many bird species, monkeys, reptiles a photographer dream. I would definitely recommend @BH Lanka and our guide Nishantha. Now we are homeward bound but Sri Lanka is a special place. Friendly people, wonderful food and great adventures.

We did a tour in Sri Lanka and it was absolutely fantastic! Everything went as it was planned. We had a private guide-driver (Janaka) who took care of us at all moment. He was very kind and everytime that we need anything he was very flexible and made the best for us to enjoy our holidays. The itinerary was great, very complet! You can enjoy the beach from the east cost, then immerse into the Buddhism culture and sightseeing all the amazing landscapes that Sri Lanka has, then you can enjoy the safaris where you will see the Elephants, all the hotel were amazing, and the most important: Sri Lankan people is the most kind of the world. Defently we recommend at all take a tour from tour radar and enjoy this beautiful island, because it will captivate your heart .

I went on a 20 day solo tour clockwise around the island and through the cultural center. Despite the uncharacteristically rainy and windy weather to include flooding that barred access to some locations for the first two weeks and marginal weather the last week, Sri Lanka is well worth a visit. I included several national parks and some out of the way towns. Ravi, my driver and I made the best of it. He is a great guy and a good driver. Elephants, leopards, birds, happy helpful people and beautiful scenery (when we could see it). I recommend BH Lanka for your trip to SL.

Absolutely incredible trip with Janaka Priyadarshana from start to finish. So well planned and executed. The history and beauty of Sri Lanka was made so much better by having such a knowledgable, kind and fun guide. Hotels were great, everything was seamless from one location to the next. A wonderful 6 day tour taking in the main sights of Colombo with my very knowledgeable tour guide, Nish. My guide drove very safely and helped me check into all hotels. Nish has a huge knowledge of Sri Lanka’s history and traditions.

After doing some research on the Tourradar website, I’ve contacted the BH Lanka travel agency and booked the 8-day circuit - CLASSIC AND CULTURAL TOUR 8 Days – LIFE EXPERIENCE. The process was simple and always with Sachinthya's support. The circuit was done with the driver Camilas who received us at the airport and accompanied us throughout the trip. It is a very complete circuit for 8 days. The hotels chosen by the agency were very good (except the one in Negombo), exceeding our expectations. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country to discover. The food is excellent (sometimes a little spicy). We have the opportunity to personally meet people who work in BH Lanka. To all of them our thanks. We were a group of 44 kiwis from NZ of all ages and abilities. BH Lanka organised a custom 7 day tour for us all over Sri Lanka. We stayed in 5 star resorts and the food was amazing! The tour operators Uditha and Buddika were incredible. They were so flexible, always finding toilet stops of snack stops for us. Their knowledge was incredible. Everything was perfect right down to cold water every day on the air conditioned bus. We got to see elephants, whales, temples, tea plantations, spice gardens, stay at amazing resorts and eat incredible food. Highly recommend. Will definitely use them again. We had a fantastic time. We had a private tour with Heshan our guide. Heshan took us to amazing places and told us so much of the history, he was very knowledgable, very attentive to our needs and gave us good advice in the places we stayed at. We saw elephants, leopards, jackals, a civet cat and lots of other wildlife on safari. We climbed to the top of Sigariya and Little Adams peak while Heshan waited patiently for us. We caught a very crowded boat to and from an island near Jaffna. The hotels we stayed at were very good and the people are very friendly. We had everything promised and more. The booking process was very easy directly with Chamini at BHLanka tours and I would highly recommend BHLanka Tours and Heshan for your next holiday.

Although the tour was only 8 days we covered so many experiences to gain a real cross section of what Sri Lanka had to offer. We really recommend this tour for those who are time limited. Our airport pickup at midnight was awaiting our arrival. Thereafter we had a personal guide and an air conditioned private car for the remainder of the trip. Our guide Sidath was excellent navigating hectic traffic conditions safely , always on time and ensuring our experience was wonderful. His knowledge of SL was outstanding and he very patiently answered all our questions. He made it a very relaxing , enjoyable and friendly time . Accomodation and meals were as planned and communication from BH Lanka was welcoming and helpful.

We had stunning accommodation. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and he did everything we could wish for. Such an amazing experience we can highly recommend. We have seen so much from Sri Lanka.

Our experience with BH Lanka Tours has been great from the start, when we tried to decide on the type of tour that would suit our requirements. They were very professional throughout and very accommodating. Upon arrival to Colombo airport we were met by our guide for the week, Ruvin, who proved to be the best guide ever - knowledgeable, friendly, respectful, considerate and funny. We became good travel companions and had good conversations. The tour itself was extraordinary and fit our needs perfectly. We were totally overwhelmed by some of the experiences, including Sigiriya Rock, Yala Safari, Madu River Safari and others. Intensive pace but 100% worth it. We had the most amazing experience on our tour with BH Lanka and our awesome guide Indunil. From the moment he collected us from the airport he took great care of us and provided us all with a lifetime of memories of his amazing country. I can not recommend his service high enough! His driving was amazing, and he not only helped us spot the elusive leopards in Yala National Park but he showed us so much of his cultural and his beautiful country. He also went the extra distance to surprise me with a small birthday celebration which I will never forget. Our family will be eternally grateful for the warmth and hospitality he showed us. We have definitely made a new friend in Indunil. Five stars for this tour and our guide!!!

We booked the 8 day Sri Lanka Experience tour and we had a wonderful experience. We weren't sure if we would be with other people or on our own - as it turned out we were just the 2 of us and our wonderful guide, Nalin. Being on our own was great as we could be flexible in some of our planning. We always felt that we were in capable hands and Nalin was personable, knowledgeable, friendly and always prompt and professional. We loved being able to stop for curd on the side of the road, or find time to shop for a coconut broom! We learned a lot, laughed a lot and had a great time. Climbing Sigiriya at sunset, and our safari in Yala were some of our highlights. BH Lanka was excellent to work with from the beginning. Communication was excellent and all of our inquiries were answered promptly and thoroughly. Hotels were clean, service at all was great. Would book through BH Lanka tours again if we find ourselves back in Sri Lanka!

We could not have wished for a better guide. Ruvin is an exceptional driver who negotiates the chaotic Sri Lankan roads well. He is sympathetic to his guests needs and does everything possible to ensure the tour goes smoothly. We recommend him as both driver and tour guide.

We had an excellent time, everything was planned with a careful and thoughtful touch, from the moment we clearer customs and were met by our taxi driver holding flowers to the moment out exceptional guide dropped us off at the airport giving us personal mugs we had an amazing time . All the hotels were great, clean well maintained, polite and accommodating staff and all with great food. All the trips we took were well thought out and gave us a variety of things to experience. However the best part of the trip was our amazing guide! He was knowledgeable and put our needs first throughput the trip. Every minute was planned so we got the best out of our time in Sri Lanka. He made our trip perfect and we would definitely recommend BH Lanka tours to anyone.

This was a two week semi luxury tour. Great two weeks, the itinerary was wonderful with so many cultural things to see and do. Would seriously recommend a trip to explore this very scenic country. Yes it’s tiring, I don’t think we saw past 10pm on any night. If you have the opportunity to do the hot air ballon experience the make sure u do so , it’s truly amazing . 100% recommend this experience. Well what can I say. Better than I expected. It was wonderful having a private tour guide. We had the pleasure of Nishantha. What a love human being. So tentative with attention to detail. He ensured our safety and well being ALL the time. His local knowledge and history of the sites and country were great. He is a true gentleman and very good at his job. It was a pleasure being in his company and under his guidance. He helped make my wife’s birthday a stunning experience. He is I credit you your company.

Everything was perfect. Our kind driver Buddhika was knowledgable, calm, drove excellently and listened and accommodated all our needs. He was always on time and made valuable suggestions. The car was in immaculate condition.

What a great experience touring this country with Buddhika behind the wheel d the car! He obviously knows this country inside and out and knows the insides and outs and how to get around. He’s an expert in the use of the horn and weaving around took took, dogs, buses, and out elephants. We felt very safe and secure with him driving.
