Ramon Crater Jeep Adventure — 2 Hours, 4x4 With Guide

We had a very professional guide and driver, who also was a very interesting and charismatic person. Unfortunately, we could not go down to the crater because of the flood, but instead we had a wonderful drive on top and with wonderful views.

Honestly one of the best tours we’ve experienced. Naor went above and beyond. Super experience - can’t say enough good about it. And what’s more is our kids loved it even more than us!!

We took a 2 hour jeep tour of the crater with guide Na'or, who was excellent! Because my husband is disabled and cannot walk, we specifically asked for a tour in which we toured only in the jeep, without any hiking. Na'or arrived at our hotel with a large Landrover, but because it sat very high up on the axle, my husband couldn't get in. Na'or phoned the office and quickly came back with a Landrover with a programable height, so that my husband was able to easily enter the jeep at a lower height. The jeep was then raised to a height capable of maneuvering offroad through the crater. Even though we did not hike around, the tour covered magnificent areas of the crater with its colorful rock formations, and we received fascinating information about how the crater was created. This was my 2nd jeep tour in the Ramon Crater with Israel Desert Tours. The 1st, in 2024, was a 4 hour, solo tour, which included some walking about - also very intersting and which covered different areas. I highly recomment Israel Desert Tours - Adam Sela for it's wide variety of activities, the high quality of their guides, and the personal attention given to customer requirements in each and every tour.

Went on the 2 hour Mitzpe Ramon machtesh tour with Adam.Highly recommend!! Adam is friendly, knowledgeable and considerate; he did a 'show and tell' of how the area evolved geologically, and answered our many questions, including those related to biblical history.

Boaz was an excellent tour guide for our family, knowledgeable, excellent English, and patient with the kids. The maktesh is best seen by Jeep, and this tour was great.

Wow, wow wow what an experience!!!! we went on a jeep tour with Noah. It was amazing fun exciting and educational. He made everything so much fun and interesting as a by the way, he took great pics for us and at night we went for a stargazing tour with Boaz. He was very knowledgable and let us ask a lot of questions. He had answers to everything. It was a cosy experience with a nice campfire. Highly recommended.!!!

Our tour guide, Naor, was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable about the area. He was friendly and engaging and answered all of our questions. If you arrange to be picked up at the visitor center, either arrive early to do the self-guided tour or stay after the Jeep tour. It is well worth it! We had a fabulous day!

We had a really special, long visit into the maktesh led by the highly knowledgeable and fun son of the owner. Lots of wonders of nature to see and enjoy. Navigating the terrain was a special experience, certainly one to remember. Go, you won’t be disappointed!

Both the crater tour and astronomy tour were the highlights of our trip to Mitzpe Ramon. Our guides on both were kind, funny, knowledgeable, and flexible. They communicated beforehand to coordinating details, and the tours themselves were perfect. We enjoyed these as private tours, which was well worth the price to have the experiences tailored to us. We learned about the history of the makhtesh and got a first-hand experience driving and walking around beautiful parts of this natural wonder. And the stars overhead at night through the incredible digital telescope are difficult to describe. The process from booking to dropoff was relatively easy, too.

Our guide Naor was so knowledgeable and personable. He was especially focused on preserving the integrity of the area. He taught us the meaning of the word desert and encouraged us to touch, feel and smell our varied surroundings. It was an experience we will not forget!

We took a 2 hour Jeep (actually Land Rover, bigger than a Jeep) tour of the Machtesh Ramon (It's not a crater, it's a machtesh!) with Boaz, who was great! Showed us alot of interesting sights, and gave clear explanations in a way the kids who were with us could understand. At one point, he even found us a fossil of some sea shells to explain how the machtesh was formed millions of years ago. Highly recommended!!

We did the two hour tour of the crater. Naor was our guide. It was the right balance of education, humour, fun, and going up steep bumpy trails in a big 4wd. Picked us up from our hotel, dropped us off afterwards. I would highly recommend.

We did the 2 hour Jeep tour at the end of the day to include sunset. Alot of fun and very educational. Just the right amount of "bumping around" and we caught a beautiful sunset. Our guide was Nadav & he was great. Would absolutely use him again. Finally, he showed us some pictures of the astronomy tour. That's on the future to do list - looks awesome.

Everything. Adam really knows the region, its geological story, and the more recent history and landscape highlights. Having never been before, I had a lot of questions and Adam was well prepared. Excellent tour of a breathtaking natural phenomena.

I was fortunate enough to do this excursion with my Birthright group. I LOVED it!! The beauty of the surroundings were wonderful, but even more so, I enjoyed learning about the geology of the region. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and I loved the first demonstration he did with the sand, rocks, and water. I teach environmental education in the States so it was super cool to see someone else teach in this way. I had such a fun time and learned so much! Thanks so much- when my family comes to Israel we will be booking a tour with you again. :)

There are lots of tours but Chen really knows his stuff. He’s travelled the world but came back to Mitzpe because he loves it here and that passion shows. He will take you on a really interesting tour and bring it to life vividly so you really understand what you see and why it’s there. Recommended.

We had a great time with Adam Selah on this tour. He is personable, knowledgeable, funny, considerate, patient, generous and well-spoken. He is also a great driver and steered his jeep up and down and through the most amazing pathways and rocky tracks in the makhtesh (he told us it’s not really correct to call it a crater). If you are staying in the area, I highly recommend you book Adam’s tour.

A great 2 hour Jeep tour that seemed much longer due to the excellent explanations by Boaz our guide. An amazing experience which we certainly couldn’t have done by ourselves. The Jeep ride itself was exhilarating and at times challenging for three over 70s. Excellent administration by the Adam Sela office.

Great place for somebody who can appreciate the beauty of nature... especially geological beauty. However, the visit wouldn't be the same without the guide, who proved to be dedicated as well as fascinated with the place. He shared his fascination with us making the trip unique.

We had a terrific 4-hour Jeep tour of Mitzpe Ramon with Boaz in a Land Rover Defender 110. Boaz was a great guide - he was friendly, very knowledgeable, and a fun guy. We had great conversations about the local geology, local history, flora and fauna, as well as the history of the Hebrew language and its implications on the area. Boaz was great with both my wife and I as well as very accommodating and friendly with our kids, 15 and 10. I highly recommend the 4-hour tour - felt like just the right amount of time. Finally, Boaz was terrific - very highly recommend him!

What a wonderful experience this was. We booked online prior to our visit and were able to arrange the meeting point by text. Naor, our guide obviously loved his job and enthusiastically drove us around the amazing makhtesh, teaching us geology, geography and history but making it fun. We had lots of laughs and even a few spots of rain - not too exciting if you’re from Scotland though! This was great value and something we highly recommend! Just do it!

We were picked up at the hotel in a landrover, story of the area carefully explained, multiple breaks for photo ops and explanations, exciting and awesome drive through a part of Israel people rarely see.

LOVED IT!!!! Noar was so lovely, enjoyed every minute. He was knowledgable and funny. Sunset was a great time to go. Highly highly highly recommend.
