The Rosewood is the beautiful jewel of sprawling Baha mar. Just the focus put into the design of all the uniquely beautiful ceilings throughout the property is jawdroppong. Bahamar has tons of good restaurants, beaches that go on and on across the stunning bright blue Bahamian coastline. Unfortunately, this is all marred by woefully poor service and operations with an extreme focus on food and beverage margins. A short list of the issues we encountered at the supposed “ultra luxury” property- Pre-arrival concierge when asked for a scuba charter just sent a link to their water sports website which had no diving on it and refused to anything else and said anything I find third party is at my own risk. 0 interest in helping if it wasn’t a hotel offered service. Room temperature “champagne” at the airport pickup Power outage at property upon arrival Room with 12pm delivery time not delivered until 3 Placed under continuous extremely loud construction (this one is unforgivable and shows utter contempt for any affected guests. It’s a holiday weekend, pause the construction. Or at least sell affected rooms at half off with full disclosure. Selling someone a 1500$ a night room with constant drilling is essentially theft) A move took another hour after a lengthy debate with management justifying the noise due to a disclosure on their website which not delivered via Amex travel None of the IT in the entire property worked. Room service on in room iPad couldn’t complete a transaction. The Baha mar app couldn’t facilitate a login. The electric shades only half worked. The chrome cast on the tv did not connect. Even the wristband scanner Baha bay doesn’t work. There is staff everywhere but most don’t do anything. We have not found a single occupied towel station anywhere on property. You must chase someone town to setup a chair. Servers at the beach and pools are similar. Prices are staggeringly high even to someone who lives in south beach. 60$ all in for a 4 bite lobster roll on a dry roll with negligible lobster at cafe boulud. Burgers and water for four by the beach 240$ with no alcohol. I’m happy to pay for quality but the pricing here is just abusive. That being said, Shanikwah the manager was really nice and cared. We got into an impromptu dance off with no music in the lobby during the power outage and then she comped us courtesy massages after the room debacle. The spa was lovely and recommended. Justin at cafe boulud was great as well. But that brings us to the most unhinged service part of our stay. Shanikwah told me I absolutely must do karaoke in the lounge on Friday. So I did. It wasn’t really setup like real karaoke with a lounge singer having lyrics on her phone and a single mic. Anyway, we did bohemian rhapsody which she didn’t know so after a bit I just went around the bar and got everyone engaged singing and dancing. She was so enraged that everyone was having fun without her, she cut the mic. Thinking it was technical difficulties we just kept on singing. Then she went into a rant how this wasn’t karaoke and it was so inappropriate for me to leave her side and this isn’t karaoke and she wanted to sing together. That childlike meltdown really epitomizes the current state of the Rosewood- a beautiful tourist trap that is focused on the whims of staff and maximizing margins rather than delivering the promised ultra luxury guest experience. It would be a great property with professional management from the US or Hong Kong, but it most certainly does not have that

This is my second visit to Baha Mar. I’m writing this on my last day of a four day vacation traveling with my wife and infant, so the experience is fresh in my mind. First, I won’t come back. Either to Baha Mar property, or the Rosewood. It’s not really a vacation when you have terrible service and are constantly frustrated. Makes it a little difficult to unwind. To start, our room wasn’t ready when we arrived. We were early, so that’s fine, but when I went back to check-in I was asked if anyone had informed me about the guests prior to us who had requested a late check-out. Turns out our room wasn’t ready until nearly 6:00PM. Keep in mind, traveling with an infant who needs to nap and be changed. As a ‘gesture’ for the inconvenience they increased our resort credit by $250. Which I thought was nice, but not really adequate. Still not the deal-breaker. What we experienced over the next 4 days was the most abysmal lack of service imaginable for a 5-star property. Drinks ordered at the beginning of a meal would arrive after the entrees, food items were completely forgotten by waitstaff and/or the kitchen. The pool staff being out of towels. One day we had waited for over an hour to find the pool attendant to sign our bill. Then had to hunt him down. Turns out he lost it, or never rang it in. Annoying, and regrettable, but for me the true deal breaker is the TRASH. It’s everywhere. The bins by the elevator overflow, there is broken glass in the areas where you walk and play barefoot. Cigarette butts litter the grounds. Empty cups and cans get discarded into bushes beside the paths and pools. Once you see it, it’s all you see. At other resorts I’ve been to, theirs would never have been allowed. From what I can tell, there is no care or concern by staff or management. The guests arrive, pay the price, and depart. It’s disappointing - a beautiful property and resort should have an experience to match.
Nice hotel with all the luxury amenities you expect at that price point. We tried cafe boulud and the food was average with very slow service. Go to Marcus for much much better food and service. Front desk folks were not as friendly as you expect. Super small gym and I had to go to grand Hyatt everyday for gym and Starbucks. Let me shoot straight, this hotel is for people who spend money to feel they are special. For me, the value is not there. Only thing which is better here than grand Hyatt is less people.
Outstanding resort. Best service and staff in the Bahamas. Excellent restaurant options. Dominic, Anton, and Manny took good care of us at the pool. The housekeeping and turn down services were consistent and attentive. Only minor complaint is that the "ocean view" rooms aren't really ocean view. We were on floor 6 and the attached picture was our view. Lovely room but come on...that's a pool/garden view. If you want a laugh, walk into the Rolex store. I bet they tell you they don't have anything for sale and they're waiting on a shipment (same story for the last 2 years). Not the resort's fault but it's funny to ask every night if the shipment came in.
High-end hotel with the signature Rosewood quality in materials, design, food and service. I would like to especially thank the lovely staff member at reception (standing on the left hand side, so furthest from the main entrance) : she was so professional in welcoming us and promptly resolving an issue we had. She made our check in process feel smoother and more premium than at the resort we stayed previously which was almost twice the price. The room itself was extremely spacious, quiet, with a comfortable bed and even a kitchen and living room area / balcony. We got butler service with our room which meant we could text at any time for anything we needed - very useful. Out of the three hotels in Baha Mar, this is definitely the one I’d stay at again.
