Wonderful guide. nice tour. worthwile
Keiko is a wonderful and competent Tourguide.
Nara is serene and the deer, magnificent temple and shrine experience, with a great guide like Yoshi, made it memorable. The luch and Fukioshi experience and surprise tour of a vintage Japanese house and gardens combined for a memorable experience.
It was nothing short of incredible! Kazu really brought Nara to life. The rich history and deep culture, all while keeping everything so engaging and entertaining. By far our best tour in Japan!
We had the best tour experience with Kazu, from the moment he met us at the train station. Kazu was very informative and knowledgeable about this tour. Knowing the history behind everything made this tour more enjoyable.
This was a great walking tour. We loved it. Our tour guide, Azusa was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We learnt a lot about each shrine we visited. The deer were lovely and gentle until you purchase the deer crackers, then the gloves come off. I’ve never been mugged by a deer before. You’ve been warned! It was still a fun experience though. The Furoshiki was a great experience, a very useful skill and the food was delicious! Be prepared to walk a lot with some tricky steps to some of the shrines. We would highly recommend this tour.
Ichiro was an amazing tour guide with a wealth of knowledge about the Nara region and shrines within. He gave great descriptions of the history of the shrines and some of the legends that surround them. He was very also accommodating with photo breaks and rest stops. Would highly recommend as a tour guide!!
it was a wonderful experience overall! we get to know detail about so many tourism spots in nara, including the famous Todaiji. the trip also includes furoshiki which was very fun. not to forget, the lunch was fulfilling and delicious🥰✨️
Our guide Kenji was very knowledgeable and kind. He took photos of our group and shared them with us. We would recommend him again
Our guide was wonderful, local, knowledgeable and kind. She did such a great job taking us around. The grand Buddha and the fushimi practice were the highlights.
Ichiro was extremely helpful with his explanations. If I had a question he didn’t know, he would search on the spot and translate for me. I appreciated his thoughtfulness.
We had an amazing time on the Nara Highlight Walking Tour, thanks to our guide Yuko. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and very detailed in her explanations, which made the tour even more interesting and enjoyable. We learned a lot.
Amazing way to experience Nara! This tour was the perfect mix of history, culture, and fun, with great sights, delicious lunch, and a unique furoshiki experience that made it feel extra special. A very special thank you to our tour guide, Yuko, who joyfully explained everything along the way and made the experience so engaging and memorable. Her enthusiasm, kindness, and knowledge really brought Nara to life for us. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Nara!
Koji was my guide. I was his only participant that day. It was a privilege to talk one-on-one. He was patient with a mobility issue I have. He’s knowledgeable, friendly, and kind.
So cool to see such a large scope of Nara. From the Deer and shrines, to the local neighborhoods and restaurants. Hiroki gave incredibly detailed explanations of everything that both gave context but also each location's meaning to the locals.
Very interesting tour: Keiko was an excellent guide and walking through the shines we had the chance to meet the deers and feed them! We also enjoyed the Furoshiki experience and the visit to a traditional Nara house. Highly recommended for a complete overview of the city!
We had an excellent tour with our guide, Iku, she was very friendly and knowledgeable and adapted the tour to suit our needs (we're not great at doing lots of walking so she ensured we went slow and had plenty of stops). Where we went for lunch and the Fushiko wrapping experience was unique and a lovely way to end the tour with a traditional Japanese experience. We even had the opportunity to walk round a traditional Japanese house at the end as we were walking back to the station which was brilliant!
Had a great tour with our guide, Iku, she was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. My mum struggles with walking fast and going up steps but Iku was very patient with us and didn't rush us. We saw everything that we wanted to see on the tour, and the lunch and fushiko wrapping at the end was a lovely Japanese experience. We finished our tour walking round a traditional Japanese house which wasn't expected but we loved it!
Kaz gave us a very in depth tour of Nara park as well as the shrines and temples within. She was incredibly knowledgeable and had answers to my many questions. Lunch and shopping was also quite nice, it felt very personal.
While Nara itself is a must-visit, this particular tour was a major letdown. Our guide’s English was extremely limited, which created a significant communication barrier. We weren't able to learn much about the history of the area, and most of our questions went unanswered because he simply couldn't understand them. Disappointing, especially when you're paying for an informative experience.
Hiroki was a fantastic guide. He was extremely knowledgable and conversational — the whole experience felt like hanging out with a really smart friend. Can’t recommend enough!
Great guide very kind. Knowledgeable
Mika was excellent! I would have been lost in Nara without her. She did a great job explaining all the highlights and history. I was the only one that showed up due to weather but she still provided the full tour!
An interesting discovery walking tour, Hiroki San, my guide was friendly and knowledgeable on the history of ancient Nara shrines/temples where past connected to present times. Not forgetting those adorable deers roaming wild coexisting with people. Simple yet delicious Tendon lunch within a relaxing atmosphere and a hand on the multipurpose Furoshiki such as gift wrapping, carry bag and water bottle holder was amazing. We ended our tour strolling along the Naramachi thru’ souvenir shops, traditional houses and shrines. Overall it was a great day talking n listening. I highly recommend to give this 6hrs tour a go ! Thank you Hiroki San, the Furoshiki experience & delicious lunch !!
Keiko was an absolutely fabulous guide! It ended up being only the 2 in our party and she made sure to keep us constantly engaged and give us great insight and history. Highly recommend for a day in Nara!
Excellent tour! I felt that I was able to see all the must-see spots in Nara in one day, without feeling rushed. Our guide, Mikki, was extremely knowledgeable, and her insights added real depth to the experience of visiting the historical sites. We also had the chance to enjoy a traditional meal and learn furoshiki, which made the day even more special. I would definitely recommend this tour!
The experience really nice!! Learn a lot of history about nara and all the shrine and temples. Sugitani-san is really friendly and knowledgeable. Furoshiki also interesting experience.
Hiroki was the best guide and very knowledgeable.
I really enjoyed myself. The guide was so kind to explain all our questions. I also got to experience the city Nara
I have had the most fun-filled and amazing experience. The tour guide (Kikuchi-san) was the best! Arigato Gozaimasu to the organisers for such an amazing tour! Loved it 🫰
I had a wonderful time learning about Nara. Iku was a fabulous guide, she had many interesting facts to share about the Shrine, Temple, and Nara city! I learned and walked a lot! It was a great time and I highly recommend!
This was an amazing tour. We were able to see the highlights of Nara: Kasuga taisha, Todai-ji temple, and some smaller unique shrines and temples. The guide, Hiroki, was very knowledgeable about the shrines, temples, history, and culture of Nara. He was also very charming and funny. The tour felt like hanging out with a friend who has moved away to a different country and is helping you learn about history and culture. We had a great tempura rice bowl lunch too. After lunch, we did a furushiki experience. It’s a type of Japanese cloth folding. We learned how to make a bag, a small poncho, and a wine bottle holder! It was all done with folding cloth! Then we walked around the historic district of Naramachi highly recommended!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our recent trip to Nara. The entire experience was exceptional, and our guide provided outstanding service. The culinary offerings were also highly commendable.
Nice trip with my partner in Nara. We did the Furoshikin experience, and visited places in Nara together. Great to come as a couple
There are many historical and cultural information. I think I was enjoyed more than coming alone. The guide is active and fun. The lunch is local ingredients and tastes delicious.
Thank you so much Hide san, he explained for me so much great information about Nara beauty, food, history than I expected. Furoshiki is an amazing experience. Everyone needs to try it. Arigatou!
This tour was an amazing introduction to Nara, its rich history, and its unique atmosphere. Nara feels like an open-air museum, and visiting such historic sites as Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Nigatsudo Temple, and Todaiji Temple really helped us understand why this city is so important in Japanese history as the first permanent capital of Japan. One of the highlights of the day was meeting Nara’s charming deer. Seeing them freely roaming around the temples and parks was truly special and added a magical feeling to the experience. The tour was very well organized, with comfortable bus rides between locations and a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. The furoshiki experience was both fun and meaningful, offering a deeper connection to traditional Japanese culture. Exploring the historic streets of Naramachi was the perfect way to end the day. A very special thanks to our wonderful guide, Yumi-san. She was knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about Nara’s history and culture. Her explanations, stories, and attention to every detail made the tour truly memorable. Thanks to Yumi-san, the day felt both educational and warm on a personal level. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Nara.
The tour guide helped me gain a deeper understanding of Nara’s history, especially at Nara Park, Todai-ji, and the surrounding temples. The guide was very dedicated in explaining cultural and historical stories. I also enjoyed the hands-on experiences, such as learning how to fold traditional Japanese cloth and tasting authentic Japanese food, which made the tour both educational and memorable.
We went there when it was raining. At first, I thought it wouldn't be fun because I personally don't really like the rain, but the guide made it a lot better. I’ve been traveled around Japan a lot (with guides) and this trip is one of the best I’ve had experienced! And for Nara, it’s beautiful as always :-)
It was a wonderful experience exploring Nara while gaining a deeper understanding of its history and culture. Yoshimi-san was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions clearly and thoughtfully. The route was very well planned, allowing us to enjoy many different perspectives of Nara. The tempura don for lunch was delicious; honestly one of the best tempura meals I’ve ever had. All the ingredients were fresh, and the staff took great care to ensure everything was served perfectly. We also had the opportunity to join a furoshiki class, and received a meaningful souvenir at the end. The explanation of how to use furoshiki was very practical and useful for everyday life. Finally, we enjoyed strolling around Naramachi, the beautiful old town, even got to experience entering one of the machiya in town. The souvenir shops were unique and antique, and the shop owners were very friendly. I truly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it.
The tour was very fun and informative. If I had gone alone, I would not have known the history of the places that we visited. I really enjoyed the furoshiki workshop because it was very useful to know how one piece of cloth can be used in many different ways.
We had a great time on this Nara walking tour. It was very well paced and never felt rushed, which made it easy to really enjoy the temples, the park, and the overall atmosphere of Nara. Seeing places like Todai-ji and Kasuga Taisha was impressive, and walking through Nara Park with the deer was a fun and memorable experience. The furoshiki activity was simple but really interesting, and it was nice to take something home that represents a traditional part of Japanese culture. Lunch was also very good fresh, seasonal, and nicely presented. Our guide, Koji San, made a big difference. He was very patient, spoke excellent English, and explained things clearly and calmly. He was always happy to answer questions and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the tour. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does. Overall, this was a relaxed, informative, and enjoyable way to experience Nara. I would definitely recommend it, especially if you want a small-group tour with a great guide.
I had a wonderful experience on the Nara Walking Tour by Japan Wonder Travel, my guide was Koji-san. The tour itinerary was well organized and truly enjoyable. I went on a Sunday morning with perfect weather so walking around Nara was pleasant and relaxing. Koji-san was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. He was very well prepared and brought printed papers to help explain the history of Japan. He talked about samurai periods, the history of Japan, and the foundations of Buddhism in Japan. We talked about religions in Japan, Japanese people's belief and customs. We were able to understand the cultural and historical significance, making the experience much more meaningful than simply seeing the temple. The itinerary was excellent and well balanced. We had plenty of time to walk around the Tōdai-ji, see the deers, take pictures. We also explored Naramachi and visited an old traditional house. He explained and taught us Japanese words for special places in the house We enjoyed delicious tempura meal for lunch then, we attended a furoshiki class, where we learned how to use traditional Japanese gift wrapping with cloths and get to bring one home as souvenir. This hands-on activity was both fun and informative, and it was something I would never have discovered without joining the tour. I joined Japan Wonder Travel many times as a solo traveler and I ended up making new friends along the way. The group was friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend to solo travelers, as the atmosphere is always warm and social. Overall, this was an amazing day trip to Nara, and I highly recommend it to tourists staying in Kyoto or Osaka. It is less crowded than Kyoto so you can take a lot of pictures, I recommend going during autumn. Having a knowledgeable guide like Koji-san makes a huge difference. It was a memorable, enriching, and enjoyable experience. Thank you Koji san
Amazing time with our guide. We loved the history, the food, the typical home, the lunch, the cultural training. All of it was very special.
The trip was really nice. Our guide was Kikuchi san. He was really respectful, friendly and wise. We went to the shrines, the park, temples and had lunch together. I have never been to nara, so it was a very good experience. The food was good too.
Joined a nice tour, started the day with visits to Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Nigatsudo, and Todaiji Temple. Each spot was beautiful and rich with history. Lunch was delicious, and I really enjoyed the Furoshiki experience, I learned a lot about different wrapping techniques. Exploring Naramachi at the end was also a great way to see a more traditional side of Nara. Our guide was very kind, knowledgeable, and made the whole tour enjoyable. and overall it was a very memorable experience. Highly recommended!
It was such a fun experience! Before I applied, I thought it was just going to be a regular walk around the tourist spots. But it turned out to be so much more than that! I didn’t expect there would be so many fun activities and new things to learn. Our guide was friendly, entertaining, and super helpful!! We never felt bored the entire time because he made everything so enjoyable. Thank you!!!
Very good and enjoyable experience, my tour guide was kind and friendly. We had so much fun during Furoshiki session. The food was nice but it was a bit cold. Famous temples can be crowded but the old city is good for wrapping up the tour.
Excellent tour guide with Hiroki-san, explaining the subtle differences between shrine and temple with overviews on Shintoism. The Nara tour was informative about Japanese traditions surrounding Todaji temple and the tour guide was pleasant and accommodating. The day ended with a Furushiki experience (or gift wrapping) and it was a quintessential core memories made. The food (udon) was also subtle with local Nara flavors. Highly recommended.
