Raffaele led us through four ancient spiced wine recipes derived from archaeology and his own research. We all spiced our wines at home with ingredients he’d suggested in advance. I learned a lot about the history of wine, Rome and chemistry. Great fun for a virtual experience!
This was a fantastic way to experience Naples during the Pandemic. Raffaelle went through the history of blending spices and wine from Grecian and Roman times through the Renaissance, as we followed his instructions and blended two whites and two reds. They were unexpectedly delicious! We felt transported to another continent, another time.
In 2019 when we were still able to travel internationally, I had the wonderful experience to take the historic tour with Raffaele Romero with my traveling companions. It was a wonderful tour with all the mysteries and history from ancient to modern times. Longing to travel again but unable due to Covid, I discovered that Raffaele was also providing current tours during the "lock down." What a pleasure to revisit sites I had seen on the live tour and to relive the magic and mystery of Naples.
