Fun and instructional for someone who has not done any scuba diving before. The ruins were cool to see under water as well
Amazing experience with a well knowledgable crew. Highly reccommend to anyone thinkling of trying out scuba diving for their first time
We had the most incredible first dive experience. Thank you so much to Alessandra! We originally booked one dive but ended up doing two because it was so much fun. The ruins are incredible.
Fantastic experience for completely new to diving people. Very secure and professional. All equipment new and in perfect condition, great staff, all of it, everyone we interacted with was very good and helpful. We were assigned to Alessandra who was a fantastic, patient and accommodating guide. The site itself is really interesting and gives you a glimpse of what's in there and if you care to read about it beforehand many things you see make perfect sense. We really enjoyed every aspect of the experience.
We had an excellent and fun time diving and we felt well looked after. The intro talk on the geological history and archeology was interesting and set us up well to get the most of the dive and what we saw. The sea was quite choppy and so visibility was a bit reduced but we still saw the mosaics and lots of marine life very clearly. Thank you to our guide for such an enjoyable experience, we would certainly like to dive again if we return to Napoli.
You want to experience an underwater archeological site and see the remains of a Roman townhouse with mosaics, columns, a Roman heating system and marble floors? Then go for this program: Very dedicated and professional staff, excellent preparation, stunning dive: Pure value for money! I had no scuba experience whatsoever, but they guided me along in such a way that I always felt in good hands. Six stars!
A fantastic couple of dives at Baia with a lovely team of guides to see the sunken city remains! Walls, marble slabs, columns, amphora and many beautiful, intact mosaics. To preserve the latter we had to sweep the sand off them to look, then put the sand back - it was like discovering them for the first time! Also saw an Octopus and a Barracuda - brilliant!
We had a really nice and relaxed afternoon at SuBaia Diving Center! We did enjoy two great dives with presentation to the sides beforehand.
The staff was so helpful and knowledgeable, and made Diving as easy as possible. We saw numerous fish and the mosaic tiles were incredible..
The ruins were amazing. That made the trip great. The experience with the Diving Center was average. Not great. Zero positive energy. Not engaged with us as clients about to live an adventure. They did not care about the people The equipment in good shape. They were efficient. Over all they provided us with a safe diving. In my case, I would not repeat the experience with this diving center.
Nadia and Enrico are very good guides and hosts. They speak very good English and made us comfortable. They gave us good instructions and equipment, also for kids (13 and 11). Easy to find (by car), and parking for 8 euro's just 200 meters away for the whole day. The view was amazing. Boattrip for approx. 5 minutes and the snorkling was great. Many thanks for this great experience and wonderful memory. Fré, Yara and Senn (The Netherlands)
The diving was great, saw lots of ruins and even a little octopus. Well worth doing. The instructors and team are very kind and helpful. Also a great opportunity for beginners as they really take their time with you.
Very little to see (and on this particular dive the viz was awful, 3 - 5 feet) Saw a few nice tiles, barely distinguishable fallen pillars, very few fish. I would never fly here for this dive, but I was already in Naples so this was a fun side trip. As a child I was intent on becoming an Aquatic Archeologist, so I'm all about these kind of dives. I seek them out, from Greece to Egypt. The people at the dive shop are great, the town is quaint, and like everywhere in Italy, plenty of good food. Only after I booked the dive did I look it up on youtube... and it is accurately represented. Showing little to see, even when trying to hype it.
Having a later-age crisis at 64, I wanted to do something I'd never done before. And I wanted to see something in Italy that the vast majority will never see (aka: no crowds!) The instructors were great - and very patient. And the underwater park was very cool. The equipment and wet suits, in particular, were perfect. I would recommend that you invest in a dive mask with ear covers. I knew about an ear drum injury from childhood, so I had no problem diving with the covers. My friend, however, discovered he had ear issues. The staff stuck with him and assisted him with snorkeling, so I could continue and fall in love with Diving! This was a GREAT starting adventure. Perfect for beginners!
We had an amazing experience with Subaia, we did 4 dives there, the sites were incredible, the team was so welcoming and friendly! Highly recommend!
Diving the sunken ruins of Baia was truly amazing, seeing the mosaics and remnants of walls and columns under the sea. SuBaia made the whole experience really easy and enjoyable from the start with gear and dive briefing then onto the boat where we were helped with gearing up and into and out of the water. Our guide, Vitoria was fantastic both as a dive leader and also showing us the sites underwater. The dive team were easy going yet professional and I felt we were in good hands. Would thoroughly recommend.
This was a truly amazing experience unlike any other dive I’ve ever done. The team at SuBaia was very helpful and I’d highly recommend this to any diver traveling to Napoli.
I am an avid diver and a historian so the combination of diving and seeing Roman archeological remains was unreal. The dive team is super friendly and forthcoming. Clear dive instructions and even a small presentation about the history and geography of the area. They chose two spots to dive at and all I had to do was follow. As it was my first time in the area I trusted their knowledge of choosing the most interesting spots. I am blown away with how well the mosaics are preserved. You do have to wait a bit while the guide clears away the sand (which protects the sites from algae and fish), so a controle of your buoyancy is recommended. If you like diving and are even partly interested in history/ antiquity this is an amazing must do dive!
Subaia ROCKS! Nadia was a fantastic guide and everyone was incredibly knowledgeable about both dive safety and the specifics of the site itself. Nadia guided us through two Roman villa complexes and showed us some absolutely gorgeous mosaics. Thank you again Nadia and Subaia I absolutely will be back!
Friendly and relaxed hosts in a beautiful small village near Naples. We didn't get great weather for the dives but underwater was still brilliant. Good visibility and fascinating insight into a snipper of Roman history. Plenty of fish around too.
Some of the strangest and coolest diving I’ve ever done. The organization is top notch, with very talented, kind, considerate and professional staff, and well maintained equipment. As a bonus, even on a lovely Saturday morning there were very few other divers - I was one of three in our group, and I only saw one other boat out there. A very affordable, VERY interesting dive that I would do again in a heartbeat.
SuBaia prepared us well. They were extremely organised and looked after every person in the water, making sure we saw as much of the Roman archaeological finds as possible.
Incredible experience. The divers were very nice and explained everything in detail. They make sure you are safe and have fun. I would recommend this excursion. I will definitely be back when in town.
An amazing experience, well combined with a proper archeological explanation about the place and profession staff in site.
Incredible experience and wonderful guides!! Alex, Carlos, and Matteo who were with us in the water were patient and fun. The ruins are amazing and also got to see octopus, various fish, and a colorful sea slug.
Our dive instructor was excellent and we had a wonderful time but we were very disappointed that we didn't get to see any underwater statues as they were in a different dive site. We enquired beforehand and were told we should have requested that site in advance but the ad for the dive experience did not mention this and deceptively gave the impression we would see everything pictured in the photos.
The instructors were very patient with us as we had essentially never done Scuba before. They were very supportive throughout the process. The dive locations were wonderful and you could touch the artifacts! The advert shows the statue but we did not end up seeing that - we knew that before we went out to dive though as the educational video/presentation made it clear what we would see. I was very nervous about doing this but it was great!
My daughter (12) and I had never been scuba diving before so we were both apprehensive but had heard from friends about how amazing the submerged ruins and mosaics were. The whole team at SuBaia were so professional, competent, kind and patient, particularly Carlo who stayed with us during the dive. It was just amazing - we can’t wait to go back and do some of the other dives!
“Carlos” and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They took time to explain things despite me not being able to speak Italian. I forgot my dive computer charger and they even took time to charge it for me. The 2 tank dive to the ruins was fun. Warm temps. Only wore a shorty with layers. Visibility was 40-50 feet. This was a fun and easy dive. SuBaia was a great choice to dive while on my work trip.
My young daughter and I went snorkelling and had a fantastic experience. The staff were very helpful, and our guide was very patient with my daughter, who had never snorkelled before, giving her loads of help and reassurance. They provided wetsuits so we were kept warm during the trip. We saw plenty of the ruins and mosaics and took pictures, making it a very memorable day.
Seeing the stautes and Mosaics. And my dive buddy Alice, was great. The briefing of both dives, what we would see and the fact that we had wetsuits that kept us warm.
They cancelled the tour the day before. When we answered back asking for other options, they took two days to answer "no".
Really well organised, highly enjoyable half day activity with 2 dives. Scubia dive centre is located immediately behind the row of restaurants on the harbour and is literally a 3 minute walk from their dive boat. Tank(s), weights, fins are loaded onto he boat for you therefore you dont have to hump the heavy stuff. Dive sites are in the harbour just the other side of the marina which takes less than 10 minutes in the boat. Its super easy and well organised. Points to note: 1. Scubia are a really well organised crew who fit you out with excellent condition equipment (we dived in October which is end of season and they were quiet but the kit was excellent). They are really nice people but professional, makes your time really relaxed. They give you an excellent powerpoint briefing about the sites before departure which is really valuable to know what to look for. 2. Technically this is the easiest dive you will take at circa 4m the whole time. I did the two dives on one 15 litre tank and im heavy on air. 3. I did the two dive option, which is a must as the site with statutes is second and the better of the dives (I think most people would be disappointed if they missed this dive) . You return single dive and snorkellers back at the harbour between dives but because its so close this is no drama. 4. We did 09:30 -13:30 session which was great and there are some fantastic restaurants immediately on this small harbour. We went to Riccio restuarant which is amazing but not cheap, that said worth every penny. In summary great time and Scubia are professional and great people BUT take the two dive option otherwise you may be dissapointed.
The pictures are misleading, they show a lot more ruins and statues, but can't see them , only at some times , they never give us an option to choose what you want to see , so it was disappointing
I really had a great time on my dive! The crew was nice and very knowledgeable! Will definitely be back!
Excellent organization. Very competent guides. The boat is very nice and all the rented equipment is in very good shape. We did just a single dive in the Villa a Protiro site and the view of mosaics is breathtaking. We’re planning to go back in October when the visibility is going to be better.
It was a great experience, the team Is extremely professional and extremely nice , I would recomend this to everyone Fantastico! I ragazzi sono professionali ed estremamente simpatici, una esperienza fantastica da fare e ripetere
Loved it!! Unique experience. Absolutely amazing to dive amongst ancient ruins. It was perfect to early in the morning. Alex was the most amazing instructor and the team were awesome to deal with. An absolute must!
had a great time with this company party of 5 two who were new divers ..spot on for safety but also friendly and well organised...would highley recommend regards phil williams and family
It was a very nice experience! The Subaia team is very helpful and skilled. They gave us a good explanation of the history of the place and what we would see in the dive during the pre-dive briefing. The ruins are very interesting! I recommend the dive. The access to the place is not very easy, either by car or public transportation. Be aware and plan to go well in advance.
We had such an awesome time diving the ruins with Subaia. Our guide Alexander was great, and we were glad to be on a small boat with only 1 other diver in pur group. We had passed groups double and triple the size with other companies. The mosaics were absolutely incredible- this was the coolest thing we did in Naples. We are Open Water divers with ~25 dives under our belts and felt very safe.
My wife Gosia went on the archaeological and ruins scuba dive and thoroughly enjoyed it, the team were patient and friendly and very helpful, getting you fitted up for your equipment and running through the training properly, then out on to the boat to do some training exercises before going into the proper dive, they make sure you are ready to dive before going on with the tour. The tour itself was great seeing loads of ruins and mosaics, I would 100% recommend and will be coming back again with friends, ps you could also just snorkel and you can hire a go pro from them, there is parking right behind the meeting centre too that will cost 10 euro all day and some restaurants too with a good selection of sea food
Our guides were great and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I could see just from the snorkel trip.
I've been able to go scuba diving in other countries, and while other waters may have a little more fish, Baia was by very far my favourite experience. Far from being a tourist trap (which I feared at first), there's something absolutely magical about seeing roman ruins under water, especially the huge and beautiful mosaic. I also really appreciated the geological and archeological explanations we were given beforehand. It was very helpful to make the most of the dive. A big thank you to the whole team for their welcome, their patience and their help. I hope I can come back.some day!
The pre-dive talk was vey useful as Ornella explained the equpment and the signals we would use underwater to communicate with the guide. We then had a short explanation of the history of Baia and the dive route over the "Villa con ingresso a protiro". We reached the dive site after a short trip in the boat and put on the equipment. I had a lot of difficulty submerging and the guide, Alex, adjusted my buoyancy so I could dive underwater. Alex led us around the dive site and pointed out things I should record on my GoPro. The mosaics were in amazing condition. Overall a great experience and I would like to thank the team, especially Alex, for taking such good care of me. My only recommendation to get more out of diving the ruins is to get qualified before you go, then you can concentrate on the ruins.
I was really disappointed with my experience there after seeing so many great reviews! Then it made sense, as we were leaving the general manager was asking people to leave positive reviews on tripadvisor! i’ve been scuba diving before but felt extremely unsettled in this place after constant unprofessional behavior from some of their employees on the boat. Some of the instructors speak better english than others and seems to be luck of the draw. The archeological park itself is nice but this place just wants to milk tourists. You spend about 2 hours watching videos and doing light prep about the dive. They are only able to rent the boat for 1 hour so you only spend about 45 minutes in the water. Oh and they do not actually bring you from naples, and they charge $60 euros ONE WAY in a taxi which is extremely overpriced. Take the public transit if you do decide to go with them! And don’t rent the gopro for $30 you won’t see anything!
This was a match made in heaven for me… Roman ruins And the ocean. Great value and fantastic staff. The water was a little murky but that can’t be helped. As it is so shallow we managed to see things clearly. Phillip
Great experience. They reviewed the history of the area with us. I had a little trouble submerging but Alex was very patient and helpful. Once in a lifetime experience!
If you love to dive and to discover archeological sites, this is for you! I visited Portus Julius and the Villa unknown: both sites were really nice to see. There were many beautiful mosaics and some surprises which were amazing ;) The instructors are nice, here for any questions you might have and their historical presentation is interesting :) It truly was a wonderful experiment and I loved it ;)
