Snorkeling Among The Submerged Archaeological Finds Of Baia Da Napoli

I went on the Baia snorkeling trip in Naples, and it was a decent day out on the water, though we ran into a couple of hiccups. Once we got into the sea, my friend's mask unfortunately broke. This happened on a previous trip with this company. The crew didn't have a spare backup mask on board, so she wasn't able to participate in the snorkeling part of the trip, which was a bummer. Additionally, the guide spoke very broken English, so it was a bit tough to communicate at times.The tour itself was okay, but having a few extra supplies.

Super guides and safe parking nearby. We had a wonderful experience.

The waters were murky, in the bright sun it was very hard to see without free diving. The guide was great, not his fault but the water wasn't as clear as it was on the advertisement.

The pickup / drop off was a little bit of a mess (was a taxi, taxi was late, tried to charge more than advertised, tried to charge round trip rate upon drop-off to event) but the experience itself was very neat! The history behind the ruins, seeing the detail and character, was such a neat experience!

The staff was very attentive and the equipment in great condition.

There was very limited visibility and therefore the experience was a bit of a disappointment. Felt safe with the guides

My teenage daughter and I did the ‘Try Scuba’ and my husband did the snorkel trip. There is a pay parking lot behind their building. We checked in in different rooms for gear, we’re together for the presentation and boat ride, and then with separate guides for diving. My daughter and I went with Nadia, a marine archaeologist, who was outstanding!!!! She communicated everything with us before and checked in throughout the dive. The sites were amazing - several mosaics, villa walls, and pottery pieces, along with more sea life than I’ve seen in the several times I’ve snorkeled around Capri and Ischia. I highly recommend for someone looking for an adventurous activity in Naples.

My husband and I are certified divers already and we took our 18 year old to Italy for vacation in July 2025. He had never been diving. We had Alex as our dive master. He was awesome! He had a fun, relaxed personality. The boat ride to the site is literally less than 5 minutes from the dock so that was very convenient. The whole team was great and I loved the presentation ahead of the dives on the history and lay out of the site. Would recommend!!

My husband and I have dove before but thought this would be a once in a lifetime experience while we were Italy, and it was! We took our 18 year old son and it was his first dive and he thought it was perfect. Carlos was our dive master and he was awesome! He has a great personality and even better sense of humor. His English was great as well! Can’t recommend this tour enough! The boat ride was only a few minutes from the dock. The depth max was 20 feet so a very comfortable depth for beginners. Max time on one of the dives was 39 minutes. In mid July the water temp was 80 and perfect.

The instructors were amazing! We had so much fun. Before the dive, they give an overview of the history and layout of the archeological site. I would recommend this to anyone interested in archeological finds.

Outstanding service. We were taken snorkelling by Victoria who showed us all of the sites of the sunken villa. The presentation beforehand was extremely helpful in preparing us for what we were about to see and Victoria was outstanding in supporting our mixed ability group which included a guest who suffered from seasickness. Highly recommend.

We're beginners at scuba diving. We were looked after in a very professional and well-supervised way, by a fantastic team. There was no room for stress in this environment, with an extraordinary dive site. And with a reminder of the historical and geological context before the dive. To be recommended without moderation

Very enjoyable dive, to include history explaining how the city sank and what we would see. The staff was very frank Andy and helpful. Would recommend for anyone regardless of scuba experience.

We did the snorkling. Amazing. The guys are full of life and totally professional. The level of service was outstanding. They organised taxis to pick us up and drop us off from Naples. It was all so easy. Such a unique experience. Why snorkling over ancient roman ruins isn't much more famous than it is I'll never understand. Just fabulous.

Really great day exploring the Baia ruins as a family with a mix of Scuba and Snorkeling! The team were relaxed, competent and friendly and would recommend to anyone.

Awesome experience, lovely people. Went on a morning dive, I was alone and got the full attention of the staff. As a first time diver, I needed it. Getting there with public transport can be tricky, the bus is unreliable, but there is a train 2 villages away, if you don't mind the walk, it's a safer option.

Amazing people! Great ecperiance. We are beginners and felt very safe. They explain everything and make sure you understatement. No stressa goes slow if you never done this before.

This was our first time to experience diving, and we were a tad nervous. But the incredibly professional, kind and patient crew at Subaia made sure we felt secure every step of the way and did everything they could to make sure we had fun. And we had a GREAT time! Matteus accompanied us on two dives, and took special care of our youngest family member, patiently and gently getting him in and under the water, and accompanying him all the way. Everyone we came in contact with at Subaia was just fun to be around, and very professional - we absolutely loved it!

Visiting the submerged Roman ruins of Baia was a fantastic experience. Everything ran smoothly and I found the personnel of the SuBaia Dving Center particularly friendly and attentive. Grazie mille!!

This tour was amazing! I was a first timer with an oncoming cold and had a guide with me the entire time to help me keep my balance underwater and learn the basics. The ruins were surreal to see and touch irl and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. The team was kind enough to take some selfies on my go-pro to remember them by ;) Stay cool guys! Even though we were a bit unlucky with the weather, we managed to do an amazing dive with the Scubaia team. Our instructors were great and explained everything in detail for us. Highly recommended!

The SuBaia team are amazing. My daughter was very nervous on her first dive but Alex was patient and encouraging to help her through her nervousness. Second dive she'd found her confidence and loved it. The dives are really interesting. Not your typical 'coral and fish' dives but beautiful mosaics, clearly discernable ruins and no shortage of fish, octopus and eels. If you're in Naples area, you really are missing out if you don't join this tour.

A MUST thing to do while being in the area!!! Its so rare to see that close original antiquities!!! Very good diving center!!!

This is truly a spectacular dive tour, unlike any other. The dive team is extremely kind and patient with everyone and knowledgeable about the ancient city. Before the actual dive they give you a presentation on what the city of Baiae was like 2,000 years ago AND a blueprint of exactly the ruins you'll be diving. The depth is fairly shallow so there’s no stress and the water temperature is fantastic. Can’t stress enough how nice and accommodating the entire staff was. I would highly recommend this dive to anyone who’s interested in Roman history.

Very unique dive opportunity to immerse yourself in ancient history! Mosaics (and reef life) was a real treat to see. We had a thorough digital tour of the sites before we got in the water to show us and explain the history of exactly what we were going to see. That really enhanced the experience. In terms of dives themselves, they were very shallow (15-20ft) and visibility was okay. It seems like you should be able do it as a public shore dive, but it's actually a protected area, which requires special federal permits to enter, and hence you need a guide. Additionally, the pictures make it look like everything is pristine, but in reality it is covered under sand, coral, and rubble. Which in hindsight, should have been expected, but to have the team, actually uncover the ruins, let us take pictures, and then recover them to preserve them, made it a slightly different experience than I was expecting. Half our family snorkeled and were only able to see anything because we were down there diving and uncovering the relics. Definitely still worth it, just a little different than expected. We also saw a lot of wonderful marine life, including, fish, eel, octopus, brittle stars and other lovely creatures. The dive team was super awesome, very friendly, patient, polite, and had nice gear for us. I would certainly dive with them again in the future, but I'd rather dive a reef than these same sites again. Highly recommend to do it at least once for the experience though! And bring a camera.

Very professional dive shop. Staff that were friendly, helpful, and informative. The dive is very easy. The mosaics and ruins are stunning. The water visibility was low, but that was not a concern as you are focused on the seabed and the site itself, not the surrounding water. Highly recommend to any divers looking to do something different in the area, even those with a limited interest in archeology. And for those who are interested, there is an enormous archeological site on the hill across the street from the dive centre!

I don't dive, and I was able to see A LOT underwater: frescos, parts of the city wall, vase, marble, sealife! All the folks there were cool, ALEX WAS AWESOME, this company teaches you the basics & the guide is with you thee whole time in the dives! Bring a waterproof camera & plan time to visit the ruins nearby dive site, there's also GREAT food nearby! LOVED THIS TRIP & we're an older couple in our 50's!!

The tour was just in the dirty harbour. We were transferred by boat for just three minutes. The visibility was very poor. We were taken out with some scuba divers who, when we could see anything, obscured what we could see . The whole operation was overpriced and unprofessional. I would not recommend this in any way.

I completed the 1 day introduction to scuba with my wife. From start to finish we felt safe at all times despite our inexperience. We are both in our fifties and had no trouble with the activity that I would recommend to people of all ages. We had one instructor between the two who guided us around both the archeological sites (doing the two dive option is a must) I cannot endorse this professional company enough and would jump at the chance to do it again if we had the time. Whether staying in Biaie or making a trip to the team at Subia you will not regret it.

Amazing experience. Highly recommended. Thousands at Pompeii but a very limited number of people experience Baia. The Staff and the Divers are great. We're so glad we found SuBaia and had this experience.

The dives and instructors were great and the sites were amazing to behold. Good value for money. My one issue was that when I rented a gopro from them, it stopped functioning halfway through the day but I was still charged full price.

Loved my day learning to scuba dive. It was a small group - only me and one other woman, and we saw the replica statues and several mosaics on the two dives. The team made us feel safe and looked after, and explained everything in detail. I wondered what the difference was between this Try Scuba course and the more expensive one and I think the only difference is the other one offers a pick up from a fixed point near Naples. I found it easy to get to Baia by train from Naples, and then a 15 walk down to the marina. The Try Scuba office is easy enough to find.

The service of the team was very good, the equipment as well. Unfortunately the weather was not optimal that day, what did the experience a little rough. Anyway, a very cool vacation trip.

Excellent dive guides. 3 of us are divers, one undertaking trial dive. unfortunately the trial dive didn't go very well. the visibility is not great but it is very impressive to see sunken town that is over 2000 yrs old.

We've never been scuba diving before, but both my husband and I enjoyed the hell out of this. The staff was so patient with us. Carefully explained all the bits and bobs and everything we needed to know during the dive. Gave us enough time to prepare and helped us every step of the way. I really cannot express how magical this experience has been. It was worth every dime and every minute. Next time we will surely do two dives and we'll most definitely go to SuBaia. I really cannot recommend them enough.

We've never done scuba diving before so we were scared about how professional they will teach us but no problem! As first-timers amateurs, we've got our own instructor Rico who really took his time to explain us everything on the coast as well as training with us how to properly use the equipment in the water at the boat before we dove into the water. He answered all of our questions really paid his full attention only to me and my boyfriend the whole time. So there is no need to worry even if you've never scuba dived before! The team's English is also really good so the language barrier is almost non-existent. Really awesome experience! Fully worth the money. My boyfriend and I, we were both so excited and thanks to a GoPro we borrowed we have so cool video for instagram too :)

It was an amazing experience!Although I was quite stressed before the first dive as it was our first time trying scuba diving,our instructor Alex made me feel completely safe during the dive.I definitely recommend the two dives as during the second one I was much more relaxed and the mosaics we saw where definitely worth it!Very professional and friendly,definitely one the highlights of our trip!

Professional team, explained well the history. We rented the used of their equipment which was without fault. Very easy dive at 5m depth. Visibility was ok on the day we went. Overall - interesting experience. In my head, I was expecting the extend of the ruins to be more grand but that does not take away from what the experience had to offer.

Great team, good preparation. Nice sites to see. Very easy to do since so shallow. Really nothing to complain, I would dive with them immediately again.
