Private Scenic Amalfi Coast & Pompeii Day Tour

Our driver picked us up at our B&B and took us on a private tour to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. Our driver was an excellent driver, navigating the roads of Naples on Amalfi Coast. We felt safe with our driver. The trip was enjoyable and very comfortable.

My friends and I are well traveled and were looking to do something a little different then what the cruise ship had to offer. Our Driver Edwardo delivered. When had a great and entertaining 6 hit tour of Naples.

Perfect in every way. Avoided crowds and considered our preferences for the day including a suggestion for local lunch.

Our tour was supposed to start at 0930 but we didn’t get picked up until after 1130. The communication between our tour guide, Viator and our group was sub par at best. We ended up only being able to go to Pompeii and not see any of the Almafi coast due to poor planning. Would not recommend using this complaint or Viator

Had a great day and a great guide, overall, but some unnecessary stress. Driver showed up and said the company had told him nothing about the day. We headed to Pompei- he called the company several times on the way to ask about our tickets. We ended up having to buy our own after the company called back hours later and told us to do amalfi first (it would have added hours of driving because of their lack of communication). Guide went out of his way to show us a nice time for the rest of the day, and Viator refunded us for the tickets we had to purchase ourselves, but the stress wasn’t great. We asked them the night before what we needed to know, just no great communication.

This tour was wonderful! Our guide was amazing and the Amalfi coast is absolutely beautiful. Great tour!

Our tour of Pompeii was amazing and so worth the time and money. Our guide, Carmine, was extremely knowledgeable, and you can see how much he loves Pompeii and sharing it with others. Our driving tour guide, Alfonso, was so kind and knowledgeable. Both guides were extremely patient and kind with our large group, including 2 small children. We were thrilled with Pompeii, both guides, and the lunch Alfonso arranged for us. My biggest complaint about this excursion is that the ad says you will get to tour Pompeii, Sorrento, and Positano, but we did not. The ad also makes it sound as though you will get to drive along the Amalfi Coast, but we didn’t. We spent 2 hours in Pompeii and then had lunch. We got to take a far away picture of the Amalfi Coast and spend maybe an hour in Sorrento. We were told we could not tour Positano, because everything would be closed. The whole reason we booked this tour was to see Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, AND Positano. It was very disappointing that we didn’t get to see and spend a good amount of time at each location.

This was a wonderful tour. A private minivan with an excellent driver/ guide made it possible for us to see Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, visit Positano and Pompeii. Only thing I would suggest is better communication between local guide, Viator and myself- if you have any issues with cellphone connectivity, this can be quite a challenge. Nicolas was a very helpful guide and made every minute count. We are very happy we took this tour!

Our driver/guide was Michele. This was such a beautiful experience! We loved the privacy in being in the car and being comfortable. Michele timed our tours within places to places so effectively that even though we only had about 12 hours for the whole tour since we were part of the cruise, and even though we had to rush through -- it still did not feel as rushed. We had to skip Amalfi because of the distance and he anticipated the traffic which was a good call because going back we saw the huge traffic and we were glad we weren't stuck in it! We visited Positano first then Sorento, then Pompeii. He really took care of us and was very knowledgeable of history. We had such a good time and lunch in Pompeii was great! We made it back to our cruise ship with still an hour to spend. Thank you Michele for taking care of us and making sure we were safe and had a good time!

We LOVED our private tour guide in Pompeii, Danilo, was fantastic!! Very knowledgeable and showed us so many things! Our private driver, Alfonzo, was fun and lots of energy. He told us all about Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Coast. He took us to a local restaurant with an amazing view of Sorrento Coast line. We highly recommend both!

Our driver Chiro was exceptional, his knowledge, his humor and his driving skills were second to none. He took us to all the places we wanted to go to, booked us a table at a restaurant in Pompeii, of course we asked him to join us. He made our day so much better and we highly recommend him.

Naples was our first stop on our Mediterranean cruise and it was fabulous! Alfonso, our tour guide, is extremely talented. Not only was he a great tour guide, his driving skills were amazing, he is very funny, and has an AMAZING singing voice! Our family of 6 was laughing and having a great time throughout the whole tour. We were pleased with how much we saw throughout this tour, such as Sorrento, Positano, and the area around Pompeii. Positano was definitely the highlight, as it is such a picturesque town. It truly felt like we were in a postcard! Our tour guide, Alfonso did an amazing job with the timing of the various stops along the tour. Because we were in Naples on a Sunday, he anticipated lots of traffic towards the middle of the day at the Amalfi Coast. Therefore, he made sure that we went straight to Positano when he first picked us up, and on the way back towards Pompeii in the afternoon, we saw the traffic on the one way street going towards Positano/Sorrento. Overall, we would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who has only one day in Naples, as it was a great introduction to this beautiful area of Italy!

There was a road issue resulting in an excessive delay getting to the Amalfi Coat, so our driver recommended we remove that part of the tour. We appreciated the honesty and attention. However, we were advised that if we didn't go to the Amalfi Coast due to the road conditions, we would be refunded respectively for that part of the tour. That did not happen, and multiple attempts to contact the tour company were unsuccessful. All in all, loved our trip.

Alfonso (our guide) was as much of the experience as the sites. Beautiful Amalfi coast Positano, Sorrento, and ending with a visit to Pompeii. Alfonso obviously has pride in his hometown and his home country and is an endless reservoir of information facts history legend. He kept us engaged. The entire tour was very thoughtful about making sure we Were able to see everything we wanted in the time allowed. He did more than show us the sites. He taught us, the culture, the history and more about pizza than we ever thought possible! He arranged for lunch at a quaint little pizzeria, where we were embraced like family To sample Naples cuisine. Cannot recommend this tour or Alfonso five stars plus From our family of six age 10 to 49.

Tony was an amazing guide. Naples was one of our stops on our cruise. I was a little nervous that we wouldn't have enough time to explore the coast, but Antonio (Tony) made it happen. He was very good with the communication - messaging us the night before. He came prepared with a booster seat for my son and he was waiting right outside the terminal when we arrived (we couldn't miss him!). We had a great drive down to Positano. He filled it with tons of interesting information of things as we passed by - he even taught our kids a little Italian. He made great photo stop recommendations and made a great stop for limoncello. The drive was smooth and comfortable and he waited for us during our little boat tour. We also drove through Sorrento and then to Pompeii. Tony made some reservations for us in advance at this small restaurant in Pompeii. They were already closed for the day, but he managed to pull some strings and we had the best pizza and lasagna of my life. We ended the day with a 1 hour self-guided tour through Pompeii and he got us back to our cruise at the perfect time. It was a great tour and we will definitely be back.

Our tour guide Alphonso was absolutely wonderful! The best tour guide ever! He took us to beautiful sights, was very knowledgeable and funny. After I told him my family came from Naples area, he went out of his way to explain all the wonderful food that comes from Naples. The tomatoes and buffalo Mozzarella were fantastic. At the end we even sang some Italian songs. He totally made my family trip memorable!

The tour was amazing. Our driver Alphonso was personable and provided lots of history about the region. Due to our cruise ship changing dock schedules we had to skip Positano. However, Sorrento was beautiful. We had time to tour Pompeii and squeeze in a great lunch. Alphonso serenaded our group of five with Frank Sinatra tunes and made sure we made it back to the ship on time. We all want to go back to visit the Amalfi Coast. Highly recommend this tour.

Alberto was awesome! Really great driver, friendly and patient guide. He took us to Positano, Sorrento, and Pompeii. The traffic was a little hairy at times but Alberto knew what he was doing and kept us on schedule. Highly recommend!

Our tour of Pompeii was fantastic and our tour guide was great. With that being said I don’t think this tour is worth the money for the entire experience. We did the tour of Pompeii and then we went to Sorrento. The drive to Sorrento was long and SO much traffic. It ate up all our time. Then we were told there was no time for the Almafi Coast which was the entire reason I booked this tour. We only had an hour and 45 mins in Sorrento. Then he took us back to Naples for 15 minutes. Yes 15 mins!! No time to do anything. Our driver was nice but didn’t tell us anything about anything. For almost 1K I would have rather done something else. My family was not happy.

Shout out to Enzo!! I put the trip start time as 8:30 but our ship arrived 7am in the morning. Even though I informed the agency ahead, I was not expected our tour could start earlier. But Enzo waited us at port at 7am already just in case if we wanted to start earlier! He made the trip so relax and fun. He made a good plan for the day so we avoided most Sunday traffic. His driving skill was amazing! He found great spots for the pictures. He gave clear instructions of how much time we had at each location and where to meet. Overall it was great trip. I’m so happy that I booked the tour!

Our van drivers - enzo and dominic were very respectful and gave a lot of information while they were driving us around! They stopped in beautiful spots where we could do our picture taking. We truly appreciate them, and we were glad we met them! But it was quite traffic getting from place to place but we were very comfortable. Our pompeii guide, Dan was excellent too! It seemed that he truly enjoyed what he was doing, he was funny too! He gave us a lot of information, gave us a good picture of the glory of Pompeii and rebuilt a picture in our mind.

The entire day was wonderful. Great driver and tour guide. Views and lunch and olive oil and wine tasting was wonderful! We accomplished a lot in one day.

Alphonso was an amazing excursion guide. Very personable, provided great information about all areas we traveled through and to, sang Frank Sinatra while sitting in traffic, provided a quick and amazing lunch option so we could see more sights. He was very diligent in making sure we were able to see all we wanted in the 8 hours we had with him without feeling rushed! Great day spent w a great guide!!

Alfonso is a terrific tour guide! He's so friendly and knowledgeable! We had an amazing tour of the Amalfi coast and Pompeii with fun stops in Positano and Sorrento. We all want to go back to Naples (Italy in general) thanks in part, to our great experience with Alfonso. He arranged for a delicious luncheon just outside of Pompeii and it was one of our most memorable meals on our 10 night vacation of Greece, Italy and Turkey. He took wonderful photos of our group too. You will be in great hands with Alfonso!

I was ok car was nice and driver was nice. English was a little broken but he tried. Main concern was lack of focus and thought about my wheelchair bound 81 year old mom. would have preferred that he though about how to make it easier for her

The entire tour was wonderful! Our driver was excellent especially with the winding roads and traffic in Amalfii. Our ship changed the schedule and he was very accommodating to get to see everything with a shorter time allotment.

We met our driver Alphonso at the cruise ship dock. My wife is in a wheelchair. Alphonso tailored our day to her abilities. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and extremely helpful and kind. We started by touring Positano and then Sorrento. We then visited Pompeii. One of the highlights was lunch in Pompeii. We had a four course meal featuring the local cuisine. After lunch we returned to Naples to visit the highlights. Thanks Alphonso. It was a memorable day.

Alphonso was very personable, shared local history and pizza tips! He even sang us a song! We had a very experienced guide in Pompeii, whose English was also good.

Our driver was amazing and worked with our time schedule from the cruise ship. He also secured a last minute private tour of Pompeii instead of just our skip the line tickets we already had. Which is absolutely necessary because otherwise we would not have known what anything was. He took us to a great lunch spot even though it was a tourist trap. I would skip the limoncello stop though because that was definitely an overpriced tourist trap and we could have had more time on the coast or in Pompeii instead.

This was our first visit to the Amalfi Coast. Our tour guide, Mario, made the visit exceptional. He is a bigger than life personality with a beautiful singing voice, which he used to serenade us on a few occasions during the tour. Sorrento is a gem of a city and we definitely want to come back and explore the city some more. Our tour guide at Pompeii was incredibly knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable.

We had wonderful experience. Our only problem was we were told to be ready to be picked up at 8. The driver was here at 7:30 to pick us up and because we didn’t know, it through our day off. I showed our driver/tour guide my paper work to prove what we had expected to be our pick up time. I wish we knew to be ready earlier. The driver did his best to make up for the lost time and we had to make some adjustments. We loved the tour but wish we could have started off correctly

The bus ride scary..,, narrow.streets. The views spectacular. Our tour guide was really great! He explained many things.

We had a great experience! Hector was waiting for us with a clearly marked sign. He helped us plan a beautiful day in Sorrento and Positano!

Mario was an energetic and amazing guide. He catered to our individual needs and new all the sneaky ways to get everywhere fast and make the most of our day. He had us all singing Italian songs as we drove. Such a fun day.

Our driver Edwardo was nice and informative. He did a great job driving and giving us information. The only things we did not like was that we were picked up in a old BMW car instead of a van. Which was hard for us having a 1 year old baby with us. Other than that I find it hard to be able and complete the entire itinerary they have on Viator with how long it takes to drive to the places.

Ricardo contacted me the day before the pick up. Very assuring. Very personable and knowledgeable! Restaurant and food were good but would have preferred to have choices for lunch.

We booked this tour so that we could visit Pompeii in the morning with our allocated guide. When our driver picked us up he said Pompeii was at 2pm which didn’t suit us at all and they did not manage to change it because the guide couldn’t do it. Sorrento was lovely and our driver was fine but the whole day was not great as once we got to Pompeii it was crowed and boiling hot even though the guide was fantastic. Overall the day was okay but could have been great if the tour was as it was advertised which was Pompei first. No refund was offered if we went earlier without a guide either. We did 4 private tours and this one was probably the worst unfortunately

It was great to have a driver take us to all the spots who knew his way around. We had a great time.

Unfortunately, this was the worse tour we have ever booked in our years of travel!!!!!!! We were looking forward to touring Pompeii and the Amafi Coast. I paid for the “skip the line” service but when we arrived in Pompeii no arrangements had been made. Also, Kelvin suggested we visit Pompeii towards the end of the tour! I am so happy we insisted on visiting first before the crowd and elevated temperatures! We were force to spend an additional 150 euros for a private tour guide. Thankfully, Charolette was extremely knowledgable and the highlight of our tour. The driver “Kelvin” is definitely not suitable to be a tour guide or driver. It was a VERY ackward experience and a disappointing way to end an amazing 15 day vacation. He didn’t utter a word unless asked a question and the response was very short. He suggested we only visit Sorrento because of the heavy traffic in Postiano. When he picked us up he did not even ask us if we had a good time in Sorrento. I have never ever encountered this level of disconnect. I was forced to repeat questions to him because he was extremely disengaged!!!!!!!!! This is the first time my husband did not tip the driver or tour guide. We are extremely generous but could not tip him!

Our guide Mario was incredible! The tour was amazing and Mario really made the excursion special. I highly recommend. He is pictured with the Naples local hero, Diego Maradona. Great trip, well planned by Mario. Grazie mille.

I can’t recommend this tour enough! Our guide, Mario Calabrese, was perfection! With only a day to see the Sorrentine Peninsula, we decided to spend the money in order to maximize our opportunities. Best decision ever! Mario was a wealth of insider tips, from where to eat and shop, to back stories about the culture, communities, and even celebrities. We were entertained the entire journey and felt we saw and experienced more than we could’ve possibly anticipated with only a day’s time. Additionally, our guide at Pompeii, Anna Girau, was just the right guide for our skip the lines tour that got in and beat the cruise ship rush. Anna was intelligent and knowledgeable, insightful and kind. She led the ideal tour of the fascinating excavation that is Pompeii. We felt privileged to have to have her as our guide for she was well studied in the art and culture of historical Pompeii. We loved her!

Pietro picked up my wife and I from Napoli Centrale and promptly took us toward Positano. There was traffic which lengthened the ride there. But Pietro has a great sense of humor and great taste in music, so the ride did not seem as long. We had one hour in Positano (which is more than enough in our opinion) and then made our way to Sorrento and view of the Gulf of Naples. We had another hour to spend here and it is a perfect amount of time to get a taste of this great city. On our way to Pompeii, we stopped at a Lemoncello factory to sample the product and to have a great picturesque view of Sorrento. Now came the highlight of our trip, Pompeii. Pietro told us we had up to two hours to tour at our leisure and my wife and I got to finally see a bucket list item of ours for years. Two hours is not enough to really explore, but it gave us enough to whet our appetite until we return again. Pietro gave us one last treat before dropping us off at the train station and that was a quick city tour of Naples. Some might think that between the three places, that this would not be enough time. I would agree with that sentiment as traffic and the day of the week can alter that. My wife and I went on a Saturday (a day that most people head to the beaches for fun) so traffic was heavier. My wife and I like to be punctual so we kept track of our time in each location and managed to see and eat our way through Positano and Sorrento. Our real desire for this tour was Pompeii, so we had the mindset of seeing the rest as a bonus. We both feel that we got real value from this tour and had a great driver in Pietro to get us to and from Naples. We would gladly do another tour with him as our driver, any day. Thank you!

Unfortunately on our day in Naples, traffic was extremely heavy so we did not see the sights we had planned for. We had hoped to go to Pompeii but our driver discouraged because of traffic. Seemed like we had a difficult time making a plan at the start of our day compared to other private tour/vans we had booked. Also be clear in what you are wanting from your day when discussing with driver, we mentioned shopping, meaning small local, inexpensive items but our first stop ended up being a fairly expensive jewelry store/museum, there was no high pressure to buy, but it was not what we were hoping for at all. We also told him initially we were hoping to make a quick stop somewhere at a local cafe for breakfast, but it was nearly 2 hours into our tour that we got to a village to eat. Restaurant recommendations were fair. After it seemed we would not be hitting any of our destinations, our guide was able to make arrangements for us to have a wine tasting at a local vineyard during our afternoon and that was nice. It did had an additional charge per person for our group of 5. Ultimately this experience felt a bit more like a transport service than a private tour compared to other bookings we have completed but again some items were out of our driver's control.

Edwardo was an amazing driver and was so kind. He stopped at many places we didn’t know about and was very informative.

Our driver, Mario, was most engaging, helpful and entertaining. Our Pompeii tour duide, Viviana, was excellent and we had the good fortune to enter the ruins through a different entrance than we has used previously so we got to visit parts of the site we had never seen in prior tours.

Our driver Pietro was very bubbly and polite, he explained perfectly pick up points for each stop, our guide at Pompei (all the other guides called him Michael?) was very knowledgeable and passionate about Pompei he brought it to life and made it a wonderful tour. Was definitely worth the extra to do this private tour, very well arranged, picked up and dropped off directly at the Port, and at all points they kept check to ensure we were back to our ship in time.
