Private Day Tour: Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi And Ravello.

In May 2025, our family booked a private tour of Pompeii. Our guide hired Manual to pick us up from our shop and be our driver for the day. It was a great day! This year, June 2026, we returned to Italy. I contacted Manual for a full day drive of the Amalfi coast. He did another beautiful effort! It was very easy to communicate directly with him for planning prior to our arrival. He was punctual, patient, kind, and very respectful and of my two teenaged daughters! I would recommend him and his family business for all your transportation needs!

Exceptional drivers and overall wonderful people! Umberto helped us so much in planning the Almafi logistics before the trip. Extremely responsive and knowledgable of the area. They transported 8 of us from Naples train station to Praiano and back with a lunch stop in Sorrento. Manuel also led our full day trip along the coast. He was attentive, punctual and friendly while pointing out the local sights. We changed plans at the last minute along the way and he secured us a lunch reservation for 8, at a beautiful and delicious restaurant on the coast. Gratzie mille gentleman, for making our Amalfi trip the best it could be! I hope we see you again in future travels!

Our experience was exceptional. Umberto helped us plan our time and arranged a guide for visiting Pompeii. Manuel was our driver for two said of visiting the Amalfi Coast. Excellent drivers, great advise on which sites to visit and recommended wonderful restaurants. Wonderful trip!!!

It was nice to travel the coast with minimal traffic. I was able to notice things I missed on previous trips. I was a little disappointed the towns were not really decorated for Christmas. Other than Sorrento, the coast is very quiet in the off season.

Umberto was a pleasure to work with and a complete professional. His team provided transfers and an Amalfi Coast tour in comfortable Mercedes Benz Sprinters for our group of 10. Great conversation, history and background music made the Amalfi tour a truly great experience. The young adults had a great time with Umberto's son Manuel. Umberto delivered on everything he promised and I would highly recommend! Can't wait to do it again.

My wife and I did a 9 hour tour with Antonio and it was spectacular. Extra points because I contacted him less than 24 hours from when we needed the tour and still pulled through smoothly. Highly responsive and open to what we wanted to do. We were picked up right on time and were on our way to the Amalfi coast. Throughout the journey, Antonio gave us a ton of explanations about the region, lifestyle, etc. The car was very comfortable, a Mercedes Benz van. We visited Positano and Sorrento, and had 1 hr for a great lunch at a restaurant recommended by Antonio. If you're looking for a private driver, look no further. Highly recommended! We can't wait to come back and book another tour with him.

We have used Umbertos car and tour service before and were extremely happy with it so chose it again; this time with Manuel. We had an excellent time. Manuel was very knowledgeable of the area and very entertaining on route and had us laughing all day. They arranged a restaurant for us and we saw and experienced a beautiful part of Italy. Let me tell, normally I don’t write too many reviews but Humberto and both of his sons Manuel and Antonio provide an excellent service. On time, informative, pleasant, clean Mercedes Benz vans, speaks English and sings all the familiar Italian songs at a fear price. His Facebook page is called ItalyDriver, you won’t be disappointed. We first visited Herculaneum and had a private guide which was wonderful. The second day we did The Amalfi coast shame about the weather but our driver lovely Manuel made the trip fun and enjoyable. My family and I visited Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast this past week from the US, and were fortunate enough to have found Umberto and his family to be our hosts and guides for our first visit to this part of Italy. Umberto was friendly, helpful and responsive as I worked with him to plan our itinerary (probably asking him too many questions along the way) and flexible when I changed our arrival flight. No ask was too big, or too small, and each was greeted with the same patience and kindness he showed throughout. One of Umberto’s colleagues, Alfredo, met us at the airport in Rome (patiently waiting for our somewhat late flight) and quickly whisked us and our bags to the car for the drive to Sorrento. The drive was easy and he pointed out sites along the way. The 3+ hour drive couldn’t have been any easier for us. The next day, Umberto’s son Manuel was our personal guide to the Amalfi Coast. He arrived early in the hotel lobby, and discussed a tour that would be best for our family. We saw Positano, Praiano and Amfali, with us having more than enough time in each location. Manuel spoke perfect English, had a wonderful personality, and entertained us while the educated us on the region. He accommodated any request and took wonderful pictures for us throughout the journey. Umberto also helped arrange two separate tours through other companies for us. The first, was a day trip to Capri with “You Know” (www.TripAdvisor.com/recensioni). Just like Umberto and his team, Federico, the captain of our boat was phenomenal. He made sure everyone on our small group tour understood the sites as we sailed around the island, and gave us a chance to swim twice. Federico served snacks, drinks and lunch, while also providing great advice on how best to experience Capri. I cannot speak highly enough of Federico and You Know! On our last day in the region, Alfredo once again picked us up at the hotel to take us to Rome for the next leg of our journey, but along the way we stopped in Pompeii and Vesuvius. Once again at Pompeii, Umberto arranged for our private tour, this time with Rosella Sommella, who truly made the whole place come to life. She shared vibrant stories, great insights, and knew the ruins so well. We learned so much, and had fun while doing it. After Pompeii, we had the opportunity to hike up Vesuvius before making the drive to Rome. Once again, Alfredo treated us so well, and even helped us bring our bags into the hotel lobby in Rome. Grazie Umberto, Alfredo and Manuel. You made the start of our vacation in Italy perfect, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else but you to my friends and family.

We had the pleasure of using his service on 4 occasions during our recent trip to Italy and his service is second to none! His son, Antonio, drove us on 3 separate occasions to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast and was an excellent driver - always on time - and his company was so enjoyable! Positano was beautiful but I didn't expect so many people. I was very impressed with the company we booked with: Umberto/Italy driver. I accidentally booked our trip for the wrong day and discovered it the day before. Umberto was so accommodating and made some changes to get us booked for the correct day. He also replied to every whatsapp very quickly. Our driver Paulo was also very nice and fun! Bottomed line, Positano was too crowded for my liking but very beautiful. I would highly recommend Italy Driver for any private excursion!

We did 2 tours with Umberto. First was Pompeii and Vesuvius with lunch at a winery. The lunch, wine and whole experience was fantastic, first class. and cost much less than expected. The next day we toured the Amalfi Coast. He also drove us from and to the train station, which was a blessing for a group of 8 with luggage. Umberto is friendly, funny, flexible, very organized and easy to deal with. We communicated a lot before and during our trip via whats app and email. In our case, that included hotel recommendations, guides and tickets for specific attractions, excursions to Ercolano, Pompei, Capri, and an unforgettable Amalfi drive. We booked a ride from the train station in Salerno to Sorrento and had the pleasure of meeting Umberto who was amazing! He gave us some tips and because of his suggestion of seeing the entire Amalfi coast, we extended our trip and called to see if he could help arrange a driving tour around the coast. Manuel, his handsome, chivalrous and sweetheart of a son picked us up and we not only saw the beautiful coast, but we jammed out to our favorite songs and had the best time!! We have booked Umberto’s service for 2 trips: one private tour on Amalfi coast and a very early morning (4.30 am) transfer from Sorrento to Naples airport. After I’ve contacted Umberto, he replied us very fast, providing very clear information and all the necessary details regarding our trips. A really interesting and fun experience! Me and some friends would like to know a little bit more about this part of Italy, and so, we hired this service. Manuel was an excellent and funny driver, who gave us a lot of useful information about the places we visited! We felt really supported the entire time, and did not have to worry about anything besides enjoying these lovely towns. We had an all day tour from Sorrento to Ravello with stops at Amalfi for lunch and several other picturesque stops along the way. Umberto was very knowledgeable about the area, recommended the best places to stop, but is flexible if you want to see something else. Manuel is a driver in his own right, and was equally helpful and a great photographer. We got some cooking tips and sang a few Italian songs. Memorable day.

We arranged our private day of touring of the Amalfi Coast before leaving Australia. The day before our planned tour Umberto contacted us at our hotel in Sorrento to confirm all our details to go ahead. Next day, our driver, Enrico, was waiting for us as we finished our breakfast and we were off....off on a spectacular day. Enrico was excellent, a great driver of the Amalfi Coast road, patient with our constant questions and provided us with a great insight to the coast and it's surrounding history. Special treatment was Enrico ringing ahead to Amalfi to reserve a great table for us at a beachfront restaurant. Although our weather wasn't perfect, Enrico made this a great day without exception, finishing off with superb pastries in Minori, before heading back to Sorrento. We were a group of 3 couples who speak little to no italian. Having Umberto was a delight and reassuring as he not only speaks English he was also very friendly, accommodating, and very professional. He made sure we were comfortable, he pointed out sites and scenes not obvious to novice travelers. He maximized our travel time as well as site seeing time without feeling rushed. That reserved parking is a tell, he cares for his customer. He is also local to the area, so he knows local establishments that are not a tourist trap. Overall, you will not go wrong with Umberto. Btw, he got us a reservation at Da Fillipo in Sorrento, best local restaurant, great food, ambience, and priced right.
