Pompeii Sorrento Positano Drive

The tour was great! Very small and personal tour provided by our guide, David and his trusty car Titina, who drove us to Sorrento and Positano. During the cool and comfortable drive, David shared the history behind these both great and popular cities. We later met up with Grace, who walked with us through Pompeii. Though it’s very hot, she was very sweet and gently guided us through this beautiful and devastating story of her home, Pompeii. Her love for her city and its history really come through in her tour. Both guides did an amazing job sharing their love and knowledge of Italy. It was 10/10 fantastic experience and I would definitely come back for another tour. Would bring comfortable shoes, a backpack with water and an umbrella to stay out of the sun.

We are so glad to book the trip with Amalfi Coast Day Tour. Rosy is very responsive and answered every question of ours. Our driver Carmine grew up locally so he knows everything along the route. The biggest benefit is the flexibility. Carmine helped with booking tour guide in Pompeii and he constantly kept in touch with the guide to adjust the our schedule. so we did not rush our pace. The Pompeii tour guide Grace was wonderful too. She lives very close to Pompeii so she can be very flexible to match our schedule. I highly recommend her so that your can visit as many highlights as possible in short time.

Francesco was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information. Would definitely recommend this tour as a way to see several towns across the Amalfi coast. So nice to have pickup outside our accommodations too! We were set up with a guide, Grace, in Pompeii and she was excellent and very knowledgeable too! We had a great time!

We had a lovely day with John on our tour. Despite the weather, he was really great and accommodating to our family (we travelled with two adults and two younger children). He helped us get an English speaking guide at Pompeii and was very informative around the various areas of Naples and the Amalfi Coast. We'd thoroughly recommend booking this trip!

Carmine was an excellent guide and driver throughout, was very entertaining and knowledgeable of the locations we were going to and was a great guy overall. He looked after myself and my friends and was very accommodating and flexible to our needs. We had Grace as our Pompeii guide and she was amazing. She was very intelligent and spoke well and in a way that created a story of the highs and lows of Pompeii’s history in the lead up to the eruption. Could not recommend her enough, a guide like her is definitely needed for the Pompeii tour or else you would be mindlessly walking through ruins without a clue.

Johnny was a great driver & host and Grace was a very informative guide for Pompeii. He communicated effectively so we had extra time to explore Sorrento.

We were picked up promptly from our hotel by our Giovanni who was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable throughout the day giving us lots of information about Naples and the areas we were visiting. His driving was really good as the roads in and around Naples can be quite scary the way people drive. He sorted us out a guide for Pompeii at short notice which was invaluable as we wouldn't have learned as much as we did in Pompeii if we had gone on our own. Everything ran to time and we got back to our hotel after a lovely day with Giovanni.

We had Daniele who had great English and was very knowledgeable of the coast. We were driven in a small black air conditioned Mercedes Benz and we were able to set the pace for our day as we wanted. Daniele recommended we go to Positano first, so we beat the tourist rush. He was spot on - because as we were leaving, there was a huge one lane line of traffic that went for kilometres. We then went to Sorrento for a lovely lunch. We did Pompeii on the way back. We fit in all 3 areas with ample time in each in our 8 hour tour. It cost us 320 Euros and although a bit pricey, we think it was worth it. We only had a 10hr day at port from our Royal Caribbean cruise and we did everything we wanted to do in that time. We could not have achieved that with a bus tour. Highly Recommend this tour company as they were friendly and reliable all the way through from booking to tour on the day. We paid them at the end of the day, so no deposit was needed. They prefer cash, which suited us.

We completed our tour in early September 2019 and absolutely everything was perfect. It started with planning. We knew we wanted to see Pompeii and the coast but weren’t sure what else, etc. Every communication with the company was so helpful and friendly! Our day started with Amalfi Coast Day Tours started after a train ride to Naples. Gianluca called us as soon as we were off the train and helped us to locate him quickly. He was friendly and helpful from the outset. The van was clean and nice and air conditioned for a hot day. He informed us that the Amalfi coast road had been closed the night before and he recommended completing that first in case the road got closed again. During our drive he told us all kinds of history about Italy and the coast. We got to stop at multiple lookout points and he even took photos of our whole family together. He recommended a great place for lunch...affordable (and delicious) food with an amazing view! We also stopped for shopping at a few places and enjoyed all of them. During our conversation early in the day he asked if we had a tour guide for Pompeii. We had not arranged one because we weren’t sure we needed one. He immediately offered to call his sister, Grace, and arrange a tour of wanted. What a blessing that was. Grace was excellent! She was knowledgeable and even worked with my family’s mobility issues and helped us combat the heat! My sister and I wanted to stay and hang out with Grace! Our day ended with a return trip to the Naples train station. Again, Gianluca was polite and answered all our questions. He also gave us some travel tips for the train station and train back to Rome. We’re hoping to return to Italy one day and would LOVE to visit with Gianluca and Grace again! Highly recommend any tour (but especially a private tour) with Amalfi Coast Day Tours!

We've recently returned from the most incredible trip. Our cruise docked in Naples and Francesco met us promptly to take us on this wonderful full day trip. We had a super comfortable large executive SUV for just myself, my husband and my 10 year old child. We started in Amalfi coast to ensure we got back with plenty of time, followed by Sorrento and finished off in Pompeii. It was perfect, by the time we got to Pompeii it was super quiet and we managed to walk around without all the crowds. The guide that they got for us was Grace who was the most incredible guide ever. Although both myself and my husband had visited Pompeii before (in a large group with a guide) we learned a million times more AND my 10 year old said it was the best part of the whole holiday (that’s saying a lot). Grace and Francesco were incredibly flexible and allowed us to tailor the trip to our liking - when we were tired or wanted something else, it was never a problem. It was wonderful to be greeted by Francesco at the pickup points each and every time not even a second late - how he does that i have no idea. To top it off he would greet us with some much needed ice cold water too. Gave us great advise of the non-tourist restaurants and what local delights to try. Honestly it was outstanding. We had an amazing day with Francesco touring the Amalfi coast and Sorrento. It was a glorious day and Francesco was so terrific. He took us to beautiful Positano and we had an hour then off to Sorrento for lunch on our own and time to walk around. Then he took us to meet Grace our private guide in Pompeii. Oh my goodness we cannot say enough wonderful things about this lovely young woman. She made Pompeii come alive and she was truly amazing!! We scooted around large tour groups that were on the same ship as us as Grace knew just how to get us around to see all the important things in the 2 hours we had scheduled. In no time we were done with our tour as the time flew by. We were amazed by her knowledge and deep connection she has with Pompeii. Of all the tours we have ever had Grace ranks right at the top!! I arranged this tour a year in advance as we were taking a Mediterranean cruise. It was seamless and we are so glad we didn’t arrange a tour through the ship.

This is one tour I would extremely recommend. Our driver, Amedeo, was both personable and professional. We took many tours this week and this was one of our favorite ones. Amedeo shared many of his personal stories (which we loved hearing) as well as history of this beautiful part of Italy. He listened to what we asked for and made it happen. You will not be disappointed by booking your tour with this company!

Francesco made this tour a very memorable experience! He was punctual, super friendly, and knowledgeable! We were picked up at our hotel on time and spent the day driving to several destinations where we had free time to explore on our own. Francesco made great recommendations and was an entertaining and attentive guide. The tour took out the hassle and stress of getting from place to place on very narrow and windy roads. Gianluca was the perfect guide and host for a wonderful day trip taking in the highlights of the Amalfi Coast. He tailored the day to our interests and always had something interesting to say without ever seeming to try too hard. Gianluca was a safe and confident driver in some pretty difficult situations and we always felt safe and well looked after. My family and I were on a 7 day Mediterranean cruise and knew we had to see the Amalfi Coast from Naples. From the moment I sent the first email the company was responsive and professional. They answered every question I had regarding the day trip. Once at the port we were met on time and with a 12 passenger van to fit our entire group. Our tour guide Grace was personable and full of knowledge. We stopped along the way for pictures and was able to adjust the time we had in the three locations. We all got back to the cruise ship thoroughly pleased with our day. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We will be using them again when we return!

We engaged Amalfi Coast Day Tours for a day tour. The company was professional and considerate from the outset, staying in contact throughout the process, from booking and leading up to the tour. Rosy, the lovely lady we dealt with in organising the tour was warm and professional and accommodated our particular needs and made adjustments to the standard program. Our assigned driver Paolo was amazing. His professionalism as a driver, knowledge as a guide, warmth and good humour as a person all combined to make the tour a most excellent experience. With impeccable English he shared his knowledge he drove us to our destinations, providing insight into the culture, history and even geology of Naples, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. He pointed out places o visit and to eat and was an utter delight. I highly recommend this company.

The communication beforehand was wonderful. They were quick to respond to questions and adjustments we wanted to make to the tour and always cheery. We had bad weather the day of the tour and they had umbrellas for us and made sure to help us see the best views with the least amount of hassle in the rain. We still managed to see an amazing part of Italy and they made sure we had fun and learned a lot along the way! I booked this trip with ease a few weeks before our stay. Our guide Angelo met us outside our accommodation at the time confirmed in a lovely Air conditioned Mercedes vehicle. We headed to our first stop Positano and Angelo stopped at the best vantage points along the way to take photos of the magnificent coast line. He drove us patiently, as the traffic was heavy, down into the centre of Positano and we had about an hour and a half to explore. We the did the same in Amalfi and the little picturesque town of Ravello where we stopped for a couple of hours and had a superb lunch with limoncello spritzers which were simply delicious! The view from the restaurant was breathtaking! After a lovely lunch we headed to Pompeii to see the archeological site. Angelo waited for us before a journey back to our accommodation in Sorrento. I would thoroughly recommend booking this trip as a taste of the area to then go on to explore more.

We had an amazing day with our wonderful driver and guide Paolo. Paolo met us off the ship in Napoli and took us around the Bay of Naples to Sorrento. Being local to area Paolo had an amzing knowledge of the region. He has a wonderful sense of humour and kept us smiling all day. We stopped several times along the way to take advantage of stunning views. We had an hour in Sorrento and what an amazing town, just exquisite. Then we traveled on to the Amalfi coast. As expected very beautiful and quite stunning, Positano must be almost unique. The scenery was breathtaking. We tarveled through the mountains to get back to Pompei. Paolo arranged lunch and displayed a knowledge of 1980s scottish football that was second to none! Pompei was awesome, but I think we quickly realised that you cannot "do" Pompei in two hours. there is so much to see. so next time plan a full day and hire a local guide. This was the highlight of our week in the Mediterranean. I will definitely come back. Stay in Sorrento and take the day trip to Pompei and Napoli. Gracie Paolo!! Ciao Graeme

We booked a private family tour for 7 people, including 2 children for Pompeii Sorrento and Positano. Our guide Antonio, is kind and informative. He was always on time. He is helpful, he made suggestions in each spot. He even stopped at various locations for photo opportunities along the coast. This company was easy to communicate and book with. Today we enjoyed a wonderful tour of Naples Italy we enjoyed Pompeii which was absolutely wonderful. We also saw Sorrento and Positano. It was so romantic and also historical discovering Pompeii. We’d booked a private tour to visit Pompeii and get around the Amalfi coast. Gianluca picked us up outside our hotel in Sorrento and guided us with knowledge and a pleasant smile all day. We had a very good day, and we also had an amazing lunch at La Tagliata above Positano. We’d never find that place on our own, and Gianluca booked us a great table with a spectacular view. yes, we had a wonderful day, enjoyed the company of Marcelo, a very patient man, humorous, good conversation, safe driver, and I am sure he enjoyed showing us the highlights, finishing the day at a private winery for a tasting of wine and cheese.

We did a full day private tour with these guys and we weren’t disappointed. It was a great day and our guide was excellent, speaking very good English. His knowledge of the region and its history was second to none and I would highly recommend these guys for anyone wanting to travel in the area.

We traveled in August as three adults in our late twenties/early thirties. We had a private van with a driver and a tour guide/translator (Gracie). Our day began with a pick-up at our hotel which was located at the top of a large hill in Sorrento. The driver was prompt and patient with us as we were off to a late start. We drove to Pompeii which we collectively decided was our favorite part of our trip throughout Italy. Our guide (which was an added service through our booking) was friendly and spoke perfect English. She was a paleontologist and was extremely well-versed. I wish we had longer in Pompeii but I think you would need several days to see it all. We stopped at a grotto on our way to Amalfi and it was beautiful. It was an extra 5 euro or so but well-worth it. We then traveled to Amalfi, all the while learning about the coast from Gracie, our young and vibrant tour guide. We learned about local spots and nightlife. THe roads are very windy and daunting in Italy but our driver was skilled and expertly navigated the road. We felt completely safe and at ease. We were given our own time to explore Amalfi -- definitely visit the church and stop at the bakery to get some delicious treats. After Amalfi, we went to Positano. We were POSITively exhausted by the end of our day but it was incredible. Our trip ended with some Limoncello, courtesy of Gracie and her driver. So sweet!! :) The booking process was clear and Rosy in the office was expedient and very friendly. We would all recommend this company to anyone who is visiting the coastline. The whole experience, from booking the tour with Rosy to the final hug with Gianluca at the train station in Naples, was just incredible. You will not be disappointed. Being in a private car and stopping wherever and whenever we wanted made the difference. We did Positano first, followed by a great pizza lunch in Positano. The most exciting part of the trip was Pompeii for my two boys. From our full week in Italy, this day was by far the best we had.

<p>We are a family of 4 w/ a 4 year old and a 6 year old. Our guide's name was John. He was very accommodating to our needs specially with two young kids. He basically was very flexible with the itinerary. At first we wanted to see Amalfi and Positano, but when we got to Amalfi, we decided we would let our kids just enjoy the beach and asked if we could just spend half the day there instead of going to other towns. He let us know what time we should leave Amalfi so we could check out Pompei later in the afternoon and we basically had the day to ourselves in Amalfi. When he took us to Pompeii, John dropped us off at De Vivo Pasticceria where we had some awesome gelato. Knowing we had kids with us, he also dropped us off at the back entrance of Pompeii where there was no line to get into the old city. If you have young kids, private tours are the way to go!</p>

<p>Mario was waiting for us when we got off the ship. He was very knowledgeable and personable. We drove to Positano and walked thru the streets. Lots of shopping and restaurants to enjoy. Then we went to Sorrento to a lovely restaurant il LeoneRosso where we enjoyed a fabulous lunch. Then more shopping! We finished our trip walking thru Pompeii which is a must see in my book. We could have used more time to explore and definatley recommend getting a guided tour. We got back to the ship on time with no problems.<br/> I can't say enough about our driver Mario. His English was great and it was like we had been friends for years. <br/> Thank you for making our day so special.</p>

<p>Very knowledge guide. Had to hire separate guide for Pompey. The guides handler or boss tried to rip us off a little. He increased the price after the tour, not a lot but a little. But he had a good smile while he was doing it.</p>

<p>We are a family of 4 from Omaha, NE traveling overseas for the first time with our teenage boys age 14 and 17. We wanted some of our cruise excursions to be different or smaller than the cruise ship offerings. We chose this tour and were so happy with our calm, proficient driver, Nikkoli sp? and his assistant, Grace. Both are from Pompeii. I so appreciated that Grace did all the talking with us so that our driver could focus on the road. We drove straight to Positano and worked our way back to Pompeii which I HIGHLY recommend. The highway gets busier as the day goes on. Plus Pompeii can be very dusty. It's better to start fresh in the shopping towns before going to the dust and heat of Pompeii in my opinion. : Great day!!</p>

<p>our driver/guide was excellent and was a great driver, especially on the small roads in the Amalfi Coast. If you want a taste of all 3 sites this is the tour for you. You do not have more than a few hours at each spot due to the time it takes for driving to each place. It was worth it to see all 3 cities.</p>
