From my first email with Diego, the experience was top notch. We booked a private pick up from our hotel, a private skip the line tour of pompeii, lunch at a winery followed by a tasting at a second winery. Our day began with a prompt pickup and a great smile from Mario and the day only got better. Mario is knowledgeable and passionate about Pompeii and the surrounding areas. Diego and Mario made our Naples to Pompeii day trip incredible. Diego picked us up right at our hotel, texted ahead of time so there were no surprises, and had water in the car for us. Super comfortable ride, and he was so kind. He pointed out things along the way to Pompeii too, which was a nice bonus. He handed us off to Mario, who had already grabbed our tickets so we didn't have to deal with any of that. Mario's knowledge was next level. He explained everything in a way that was really easy to follow, not overwhelming at all, and kept pointing out little details we would've totally missed on our own. Asked him a bunch of questions and he had an answer for everything. 2.5 hours flew by. Honestly Pompeii ended up being the highlight of our whole trip because of him! Then Mario handed us back to Diego for the ride home, and he gave us some solid food recommendations for Naples too. The whole thing was so easy start to finish, we didn't have to think about a single detail. Highly recommend both of them if you're headed that way.

We went to both Pompeii and Herculaneum. Diego was our driver and Mario was our guide. Both were excellent. Diego was knowledgeable about the local area and gave us great information on the drive, and Mario was an incredible tour guide. He actually spent a year in school digging at Pompeii, and was so interesting and had a true love for the area and the history. Amazing team. Well worth it!!

Here’s a version that stays positive and appreciative while gently mentioning the itinerary issue without making it the focus: We had a great experience with Visit Amalfi Coast. Communication before our trip was easy, and they worked with us to plan our itinerary in advance. Enrico, our driver, communicated with us that morning and was incredibly friendly, warm, and welcoming throughout the day. Our private guide in Pompeii was excellent and customized our tour to 90 minutes because of the heat and our schedule while still making the history interesting, engaging, and fun. The only hiccup was that our prearranged itinerary didn’t completely match what happened that day, but Enrico was flexible and took us to some beautiful lookout points and a couple of areas we hadn’t expected to see. We were also able to walk to Spaccanapoli from our ship on our own. Overall, we really enjoyed our day and appreciated everyone who helped make it a memorable experience!

Pompeii is huge and it is impossible to see it all in a couple hours. It is still an active archeological site. Our guide Marcello was incredible. An archeologist/anthropology professor. He gave us a marvelous tour and was so informative. He chose some major highlights and a few new discoveries. Answered questions and just gave us a marvelous experience.

Diego our driver was fantastic. he was extremely clear and communicated and his English was very easy to understand. When my United States cell phone broke in the middle of the day, he took extra care and effort to make sure that we could find each other. And he recommended a fantastic pizza place in Naples afterwards and even went inside to make sure they would still serve us. The Pompeii tour guide Ludviga it was also wonderful, warm and knowledgeable and took her time to explain so many details about the historic site. This tour was by far the best one we had in Italy. Our private driver, Diego, picked us up promptly at our hotel and provided his personal insight on Napoli and various sites along the way. We then met up with our tour guide, Mario, I. Pompeii. Mario provided us with an excellent tour catered specifically to the whims of our family. We also did the Herculaneum tour after lunch with Mario and that was a nice touch to conclude the history of this area. I highly recommend Diego and Mario. This two men go above and beyond.

We recently completed a full day private tour of both Pompeii (AM) and Herculaneum (PM). Our guide, Mario was fantastic! He brought a deep academic knowledge and passion to the tour and really painted a vivid picture throughout our journey covering each incredible site. On a tour of six, ages 10-70+, Mario kept everyone captivated by his recounting and storytelling of the rich history and profound events surrounding each location. The whole day, the whole experience was wonderful, I can’t say enough good things. Mario was GREAT. Our 12 and 13 year olds are obsessed with Percy Jackson and all things Greek and Roman mythology. Mario leaned into it and didn’t flinch when our daughter asked about 1,000 questions (only some related to Pompei ) Pickup was easy, Fabio was easy to find, kind, talked baking with me and even showed some pictures of his homemade pasta as inspiration for my new hobby. 100% would book with them again and hope to see them again in the future.

Eugenio Gentile was our driver and he was great! Super knowledgeable and friendly throughout the day. We actually did the mount Vesuvius and Pompeii combined day (wasn’t an option when selecting), and this was super fun! He also saved us from potential disaster: we were getting picked up/dropped off from Sorrento, and there were protests blocking the roads, that Eugenio learned about the day before. When discovering this, Eugenio contacted his boss to get us boat tickets from Sorrento to a dock in Naples. This boat ride was only 45 minutes to save us from ~3h of traffic. This proactive problem solving separates good from great business. I understand that this service is expensive, but they deal with all the tickets, guides, driving, and most importantly issues that you might run into. This potentially horrific situation ended in an amazing day and no stress when touring around. Also, I should mention that we were picked up by Giovanni from the airport without issue! He was super nice as well, and was very pleasant when we were tired and on edge from traveling for the last ~15hrs. He even had waters in the van!! Overall, I couldn’t recommend Eugenio, Giovanni, and this company highly enough.

This was a private, half-day guided tour of Pompeii which included a private car from our hotel in Naples. I cannot praise this experience highly enough! From start to finish, we spent a wonderful afternoon touring Pompeii with hassle-free travel. Our very courteous and professional driver picked us up at our hotel right on time and delivered us to the entrance of the site where we were met by our outstanding guide, Mario. No waiting in line, just straight into the tour. Mario was extremely knowledgeable and poised, and guided us through the site seamlessly. He had personal experience working with archaeologists at Pompeii during university, and his insight and perspective were priceless. You could easily spend days at Pompeii and never see it all, but our afternoon was focused and targeted to particularly interesting locations. Had we done an audio tour or a large group tour, or attempted to explore on our own, we would never have had the unique understanding and appreciation that we gained from this tour. We followed this up with a visit to the National Archaeological Museum in Naples on our own the next day, which had amazing artifacts from both Pompeii and Herculaneum, truly adding to the overall experience. We cannot recommend Mario enough. He is fabulous and a third generation guide in the Naples/Amalfi Coast area. We had 5 people (me, husband, brother, sister-in-law and adult niece) for a tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum, ending with lunch at a winery on Mt. Vesuvius! Mario picked us up in Salerno at the hotel and was so personable and knowledgeable from the first moment. He asked at the start if their was anything specific we wanted to get out of the day, so he could tailor our tour. We did not have any specifics, but Mario was able to show us so many amazing sites and places, even though we were there in February (a very slow season). We joined up with Marcello once in Pompeii and you could tell both of them knew so much about these ancient cultures and just loved sharing their knowledge with everyone. We had an amazing lunch at the winery. We highly recommend that you book a tour with Mario for any tour. We loved the Pompeii/Herculaneum tour, but we also did a tour of the Amalfi Coast with him.
