By the turn of the first century A.D., the town of Pompeii, located about five miles from the mountain, was a flourishing resort for Rome’s most distinguished citizens. Elegant houses and elaborate villas lined the paved streets. Tourists, townspeople and slaves bustled in and out of small factories and artisans’ shops, taverns and cafes, and brothels and bathhouses. People gathered in the 20,000-seat arena and lounged in the open-air squares and marketplaces. On the eve of that fateful eruption in 79 A.D., scholars estimate that there were about 12,000 people living in Pompeii and almost as many in the surrounding region.
This was awesome. We had a little trouble finding the guide but once we did it was excellent moving forward. Angela and Gino were on point. We even had a few minutes to grab an authentic Napoli snack.

The tour guide and experience was great. The shuttle driver was almost 20 minutes late picking us back up at Pompeii and it was raining hard.
Just ok. Not that it was bad but somewhat disappointing. I’m not sure what would have made it more interesting but for me, it just missed the mark so to speak. Oh well.
Very organised tour. Small group of 21 people which made it very enjoyable. Luigi was funny and helpful. The tour guide in Pompeii was very knowledgeable and funny too. My only criticism would be not enough time in Pompeii to look around on own. We had 25 minutes to look at an expensive gift shop which would be better used looking inside the ruins.
This was an amazing small tour. Our driver was right at the exit to the terminal to pick us up with a sign with our names. Only one other couple with us. Gulia (sounds like Julia) was so knowledgeable and passionate about the information on the history of Pompeii and its sad demise. We arrived right before the site opens so even got to have a cappuccino and also did a tasting of limoncello at a little restaurant right at the front of the entry to the ruins. She took us thru all of the highlights always knowing where to go for a great photo. I highly recommend this tour.
We went on this tour and enjoyed it. The port meeting area is extremely hectic. There were many hundreds of people looking for their tours. It was frenetic. Our group meeting place at the port was tucked around a corner and difficult to find. We contacted the tour provider and they did have the tour guide contact us to help us find the meeting spot. The larger group at the port was divided into smaller groups by language, and we were with the English speaking guide, Anna. Anna is very knowledgeable and explained each site well. We felt the 2 hours inside Pompeii was fine, but it was a bit rushed at each site. It is difficult to walk on the ancient stones and sturdy shoes/sneakers are advised. You can get a very good sense of Pompeii and its history in two hours. This is a worthwhile trip.
We were met just outside the port gates, exactly where they said they would be. The trasportation was really good and our guide was amazing. Would definitely use this company again.

This is a fantastic tour! Christina was an amazing guide. She would keep ahead of the crowds and she is very knowledgeable and fun. The tour for us was an almost semi private experience as it was only my Wife and I and one other family in the group. This small group experience made it fun and more interactive.

Perfect tour. Very well organised by Discover Italy company. Got picked up right at the cruise terminal and dropped back to same location. Julia had our tickets so we skipped all the lines. She gave us a very interesting and knowledgeable tour of Pompeii. I recommend this excursion.
Perfect tour! I booked this tour via Viator as a shore excursion while in Naples. The driver met me directly outside the cruise terminal and drove me to the archaeological park where I was greeted by Julia and met the rest of the group, 9 of us in total. As Julia had our tickets on her phone we skipped the queues, which were already busy before the park opened at 9, but which were crazy by the time we left at 11. During the two hour walking tour Julia told us lots of historical stories and answered all our questions. It was clear she really enjoyed teaching people about the history of Pompeii. We stopped at highlights of the park and Julia really helped me to understand the significance of the artefacts and ruins on display. After the tour was over, Julia walked us back to our drivers, and I was dropped right back to the cruise terminal. I highly recommend this tour, Julia and Discover Italy company!

Julia gave us a great insight into the wonderfully interesting Pompeii. Julia got us first in the gates and knew all the shortcuts to see the best of Pompeii. Happy to answer all our teenagers questions and really enjoyed by us all. The transport from Nicholai was seamless and also lots of interesting information given along the way. 100% recommend.... Very enjoyable tour with easy pickup/meeting point. Bus guide Mery and Pompeii tour guide Mario were very informative and shuttle driver Mathias gave us a fun example of Neapolitan driving! Pompeii is large but if you don’t have two days to spend going over the whole site you can get an excellent sampling with this tour.
We had a 2 hour tour of Pompeii with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide Christina. Pompeii was quite an impressive city. The tour was well paced and informative. Would highly recommend. The day was overcast and cool. Perfect for the tour.

Our guide, Fabio, was knowledgeable and exuded excitement in telling the Pompeii story. Pompeii is amazing, I encourage anyone who visits Naples to do this tour. One somewhat negative thing is that I was under the impression we booked a private tour but another person was in our group.
