We really enjoyed this tour! Gennaro was the best tour guide. He remembered all our names, was incredibly knowledgeable, and was so friendly and approachable. He happily answered any extra questions we had, which made the experience even better. The pick-up and drop-off points were great, and we felt completely safe with the driver throughout the trip. We enjoyed an absolutely wonderful tour with Ginaro. He provides a great deal of information, and he’s very funny! We were able to spend a lot of time at Herculaneum and a little less time in Pompeii but honestly, Herculaneum was our favorite. The time at the mall for lunch (food court) was easy and the toasted cheese sandwiches we ordered were really good (and huge!). It was a nice break in between the two tours. We thoroughly enjoyed our day! Note: For anyone with mobility issues, there is a lot of walking on large stones up and down hills and steps. Bring walking sticks or maybe do a self-tour so you don’t feel rushed to keep up with the group.

Our guide, Gennaro, was exceptional. He was knowledgeable, considerate, helpful and amusing. He kept the tour moving but was able to impart a lot of information.

It was an incredible experience, unpacking the lives and stories of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Michele was an amazing guide - he barely took a breath as he poured out expert knowledge all day long. He was so kind as he answered all our questions and led us around all the key sites in a very controlled and intentional order to optimise the journey and our education. My partner and I had a fantastic tour lead by Raphael who was incredibly knowledgable and also incredibly funny!! One of the best guided tours I have been on. Well worth the money compared to other large and chaotic looking groups! We got to see both sites in one day with a good lunch break. Highly recommend!

This is a great introduction to the two archaeological sites. Our guide Michele gave a very interesting overview of the events of the day that created these frozen cities and a fascinating look into ancient Roman life.

The initial scene in front of Starhotel was a bit chaotic with multiple tour operators, including three groups for this tour all meeting in the same place. After some initial confusion where none of the three Askos guides could locate our reservation, we departed about on time. Rafael was an excellent, knowledgeable guide. He managed to keep our large group entertained for the full day tour.

Well organised tour with just the right amount of information and time at each destination. Mario was an excellent tour guide. He presented information very well and in way that it was easy to follow along. He was genuine, positive and welcoming. Our driver (Vincenzo?) drove smoothly and calmly (not in the usual Italian fashion 😉). Our tour guide in Pompeii was great as well, an archaeologist, who covered quite a bit of Pompeii, how its citizens lived and the volcano eruption. I'm sorry I don't recall their name. My only suggestion would be to have lunch at a small restaurant rather than a shopping centre, but I understand that this gives people more choice. All in all a fantastic tour, which I would recommend to anyone.

It’s an all day experience at both Herculaneum and Pompeii but well worth it our tour guide Alfredo was fantastic and very informative.

Michele L. Has studied Pompeii and Herculaneum and was an incredible, knowledgeable tour guide. He showed us the highlights of each place and really made it a wonderful experience. I highly recommend him and Askos Tours.

Our guide was Rafaello. He was friendly and professional and obviously is very knowledgeable about the sites and loves his work. We learned all about Herculaneum and Pompeii. It is hot with minimal shade, especially in Pompeii. I recommend sunscreen and a hat or umbrella. And bring a water bottle. In Pompeii at least you can refill in many places on the tour from the fountains. The water is safe and very good and cold. I highly recommend this tour. The only negative is that we could have used more time to eat and look at shops. There is a 50 minute lunch which was just long enough to eat and two 15 minute free times. I feel an extra 30 minutes in each place would have been helpful and preferred.

We did the 3hour tour of Pompeii with Sara Incaruato. We really enjoyed Sara’s guidance and commentary. She really brought to life the experience. Highly recommend.

Our tour was well organized and convenient. Our guide Gennaro was very knowledgeable and informative. We toured Ercolano first and took a break for lunch and then traveled to Pompeii. Both sites were fascinating and we enjoyed the insights provided by our guide.

Luciano Leone, our tour guide was outstanding. We saw so much in the 2 hours. We probably, no very likely would not have noticed any or the intricacies and historic expansions Luciano provided. He was animated, knowledgeable and you can see he loves what he does.

This guided tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum was absolutely fantastic. Our guide truly made the experience special – incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the history. She brought the sites to life in a way I would never have experienced on my own. Everything was perfectly organized, and the whole tour was both fascinating and enjoyable from start to finish. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!

Great guides, very knowledgeable and fun to listen to! Come with appropriate footwear for walking a lot and a bottle of water to stay hydrated!

We wanted to see both Herculaneum and Pompeii without the transportation hassle. This tour fit the bill as we were picked up/ returned to Naples near the train station. We felt that our guide, Gennaro, was knowledgeable, but I’m not sure he was an archeologist as described. The group was larger than I had hoped, and seemed rushed at times. Overall, I would still recommend because so much would be missed at both sites without a guide.

Long day of walking so wear good shoes but I couldn’t ask for a better tour! Vinny was our guide and Giuseppe was our driver they were prompt and always ready for anything. The ride was comfortable and Vinny was so great at explaining everything we saw in so glad we did this tour it made it so easy and so much more than it would have been without them. I learned so much and seen all the sites I was hoping to see! Thanks guys for a great tour!!!

This was a great way to see two historic sites in one day. It was a nice way to compare the two sites. Family had a good time. Keep in mind that in the summer, it gets very hot. Bring water.

Excellent. Informative and entertaining, especially Pompeii. Our guide Gennaro knows everything :-) and was able to pass some of it on to us. And often in a humorous way, too. We started in Herculaneum, which was a good build-up to the main event - Pompeii.

Brilliant visit, really informative and interesting

Nicoletia was our guide today. This was a small group tour with about 12 people in it. This was a great size as it was just enough for her to explain everything to us as a group. We started at our floor level which was great to be able to take photographs from the town below. She was excellent at explaining the details of the town when it was excavated and why only part of it has been excavated. We went into many villas saw the frescos paintings, the marbled tables And stonework. We saw original wooden doors and she explained how they are still intact today. There is more ruins to see in this town than in Pompeii and she explained why. It’s a fascinating couple of hours walking around a town over 2000 years old. There is also a little museum well worth a visit whilst you’re there and is included in the ticket price

Michele was superb at guiding us through both sites pointing out archeological finds which we would never notice on our own. Michele, who has worked as an archeologiest in Herculaneum, provided an indepth understanding of this site. Paulo, our driver, got us easily and safely to and from the sites.

Great tour, Gennaro was a wonderful and informative tour guide.. The difference between Pompeii and Herculum was interesting and worth the time. Lunch stop was brilliant..a stop at the local mall for the food court...time to eat and lots of choices, plus a dancing water show in the background.

Our family had a terrific time with Michele and Giuseppe on our tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum! Michele is an archeologist, and he did a wonderful job of bringing history to life for us! He helped us to understand what life was like before Mount Vesuvius erupted, what happened when the eruptions occurred, and how archaeologists are excavating and analyzing the ruins. They were extremely warm and attentive, frequently pointing out opportunities to fill our water bottles and take restroom breaks. I stumbled and fell (I wasn’t looking where I was going!) and Michele was genuinely concerned and made sure that I was okay. This really is a top-notch tour!

Educational, but helpful if you do a little research first. There are some good YouTube videos too. Wear good walking shoes.

Our tour guide, Giovani, was excellent. Not only was the tour on time, van new and clean, driver great, but Giovani had answers to any and all questions. He was very knowledgeable and clearly loves Herculeum and Pompeii. Pick up was at 9:45am (there were 12 of us on the tour) and we were back at Naples Central Station by 4:30pm. We went to Herculeum first. In my opinion, Herculeum is a must, and not to be skipped. It is a much smaller site than Pompeii with more intact frescoes and mosaics. We spent ~90 minutes there, and then our guide took us to a mall where we had 45 minutes to get lunch. It was nice to have a break and fuel up for Pompeii. We then arrived at Pompeii, which is huge, where we spent ~90+ minutes. The highlight was walking an elevated ramp above an active dig/restoration. Amazing. Highly recommend Asko tours, and Giovani.

Visiting Pompeii and Herculaneum have always been a bucket list visit, and this tour did not disappoint. Raphael was a great guide, very knowledgeable. I would do this tour again, it was that informative.

Our guide, Gennaro, was excellent — incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the history of both Pompeii and Herculaneum. He kept the group moving at a comfortable pace while making sure we saw all the highlights and understood what we were looking at. Our driver, Stavolo (spelling?), was also fantastic — calm, professional, and made the transportation between Naples, Pompeii, and Herculaneum smooth and stress-free. The van was comfortable, and it was such a relief not to worry about logistics between the sites. We had about an hour for lunch, stopping at a nearby mall with a food court offering plenty of choices for everyone. The overall length of the tour was perfect — not too long, not too short — and visiting both Pompeii and Herculaneum in one day felt very doable and worthwhile. I’m usually a DIY traveler, but I’m so glad I chose a guided tour for these sites. Having Gennaro’s insights made the ruins come alive — without a guide, it would be easy to miss so much of the fascinating context and detail. Highly recommend this tour!
