Our guide Sergio, and driver Santalos were both exceptional. Pick up and drop off at our hotel were perfect and Sergio was by far the best guide I have ever experienced. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly , patient and he spoke perfect English. He chose the best locations to give us an amazing overall experience of life (and death) in Pompeii and Herculaneum. I couldn’t recommend him more highly. 3 hours in Pompeii, lunch at a fantastic restaurant, and 2 hours in Herculaneum. Our small private tour, although more expensive, was well worth the extra money, allowing us freedom to choose what we wanted to experience, to interact with our guide freely and ask many, many questions. We noticed that we were also a much more agile group than the bigger tours and therefore able to move more quickly around the sites and consequently experience more. Overall a great day.

Seing both Herculaneum and Pompeii was great! Pickup was smooth and tour guide made him self known for pickup. Michele Maria Lamberti was excellent, very knowledgable about the tour and history of the area as an archeologist himself. Our driver of the day Giovanni was excellent and punctual for pickup and drop off. Although we found the tour very interesting and informative, the 2 hour stops in both locations was a little too long in our opinion, but also could have been due to extreme heat conditions of the day with lack of shaded areas in the exploration area. Overall would recommend the tour with our tour guide that we had! Gracie mille!

We had a wonderful full-day tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum with Askos Tours from Sorrento. Transportation was easy and convenient, with pickup from a local meeting point in Sorrento on a comfortable small bus. Our tour guide, Lily, was fantastic! She was extremely knowledgeable and provided fascinating, informative commentary throughout the day. We spent about two hours exploring each archaeological site, which gave us plenty of time to see the highlights without feeling rushed. There was also a nice lunch stop midway through the day. We highly recommend Askos Tours, and especially Lily as a tour guide. She made the history of both sites come alive and made the entire day enjoyable and memorable!

Our guide, Michele, and driver, Giovanni, made this a fabulous day! Michele was very knowledgeable and shared much information and answered questions throughout the day at these amazing sites. The group was well-organized and timely - we kept moving but did not feel rushed during this full day. The day was very hot and lunch was a good time to cool down and be ready for the second part of the tour. I am sure I got more out of my visits to both sites than I would have on my own.

This whole tour was set up so well. In addition to the tours, yhey handled our transportation and a lunch recommendation, which was much appreciated since the whole experience is about 5 hours for Pompeii and Herculaneum. We booked the small group tour directly with Askos Tours, and it was the absolute highlight of our trip. Our guide, Diego, was phenomenal throughout the five-hour tour. As an expert Archaeologist, he brought both ancient cities to life with storytelling, facts, and historical context. The weather was extremely hot and humid, but Diego managed it well finding shaded locations for us to pause and look around, which made the entire experience doable despite the heat. Walking through the remarkably preserved streets of Herculaneum right after Pompeii gave us a complete, unforgettable picture of this ancient history. Highly recommended!

We just completed the Herculaneum and Pompeii tour with our guide Anna S. and driver Pasquale, and it was truly a highlight of our time in Italy. Anna was exceptional. An architect by profession, who guides visitors through the ruins in her off-season or spare time, she brought an extraordinary depth of knowledge and perspective to the experience. Her insights into the history of these remarkable cities, the architecture, and the painstaking reconstruction and preservation efforts were intelligent, nuanced, and deeply engaging. Beyond her expertise, Anna was bright, cheerful, warm, and wonderfully approachable. She guided our group of 18 at a relaxed and comfortable pace, making sure no one ever felt rushed or overwhelmed. Her passion for the sites and for sharing their stories was evident throughout the day. Special mention as well to our driver Pasquale, who made the day smooth and stress-free from beginning to end. We highly recommend this tour. If you book with Askos, absolutely ask for Anna S. She was terrific.

This tour was absolutely brilliant, picked up and dropped off near the termini in Naples by the lovely Pasquale , who delivered us all there and back safely. Michele was our guide who knew everything about everything!!! He was patient and knew the answers to all our questions . So glad we added Herculaneum too , it’s a smaller site but just as fascinating , we got quite emotional learning about people’s lives etc. We came away knowing so much more than when we started all due to Michele, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone , certainly worth the money and a truly great day out .

Francesco C. our driver was Excellent. Sergio our guide was good. Group size was larger then expected. Audio headsets had connectivity issue when group was spread out. Pompeii tour was good. Herculaneum tour was the best. July heat! Mall stop was not our cup of tea, but due to the heat it was understandable.

Asko Tours set up a great day for us. Our driver, Francesco, was professional, prompt and friendly. He also setup lunch for us at a local restaurant in Pompeii for delicious local cuisine. Our tour guide, Jasmine, was the best! Her knowledge of the area and sites was detailed and she made everything very interesting. There was a lot to see and she was great at showing us the most important parts. This was the highlight of our trip to Italy and I highly recommend Asko Tours. The exploration of pompei and hurceuleam can only be brought to life by the knowledge and insight provided by an archaeologist. We had Sergio who was superb. Without his explanation of the sites and pointing out specific features that only a trained eye could do, I don’t think we would have enjoyed the visits half as much. Sergio was very knowledgeable and his communicative style was very clear, well structured and captivating. He explained key archeological highlights using storytelling techniques which really does keep your attention and makes the tour incredibly interesting. Supporting the tour on the day was Francesco Calenda our driver who was very friendly and made our journey as comfortable as possible. He also did a great job in picking out key points of interest along the journeys between sites. Thank you Sergio and Francesco for making our day great and a memorable one. Highly recommended

Our driver Luigi was very sweet. Waited for us even though we were a bit late. Francesca who took our tour in Pompei was outstanding. She was fun, very knowledgeable and so enthusiastic.

(This tour was booked through GetYourGuide) The guide made the tour great. Diego was the name of our tour guide. He was knowledgeable and considerate of the group. There were older individuals in the group and he often asked if the group wanted to press on. The transportation was fine, but the back left wheel made a sound on turns that caused many to have concern. However, other than this, everything was great. The weather was rainy, but overall pleasant and the group took full advantage. My tour was on March 13, 2025. Diego made Herculaneum and Pompei come alive. The headsets provided ensured that Diego could be heard even if you were far away from him. Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much)

Visiting Pompeii was an absolutely breathtaking experience! Walking through the ancient ruins felt like stepping back in time, offering a fascinating glimpse into daily life in a Roman city frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The preserved streets, houses, and even mosaics were incredibly well-maintained, making it easy to imagine what life was like nearly 2,000 years ago. The highlights included the Forum, the Amphitheater, and the haunting plaster casts of the victims, which were both moving and surreal. Having a guide or an audio tour is definitely recommended, as the history behind each site is so rich and full of incredible details. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as there’s a lot of walking! Overall, Pompeii is a must-visit for history lovers and anyone traveling to Naples or the Amalfi Coast. It’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

Really enjoyable day starting off at Pompeii and the Herculanium in the afternoon. Guide/ Archealogist Michele Lamberti was excellent at bringing the historical sites to life and very friendly. Would highly recommend

We did a private tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum with transportation from Rome. The private van was definitely the way to do this with 6 people (2 of whom were much older) - while we encountered some traffic on the way back to Rome, we had the ease of getting around on our own schedule and we could easily include Herculaneum. The van was a luxury Mercedes six-seater (we faced each other and could chat or nap, complimentary water and wifi). Our driver was great and we met our tour guide in Pompeii - she was very knowledgeable and also toured us around Herculaneum (Herculaneum is a real highlight! Don’t skip that!). We spent 2-3 hours in each place with a lunch stop in between. We didn’t express a preference for lunch, so the lunch place was just ok - if you have food preferences, definitely let the driver know to find a better option! Great tour for the price, very good value. It’s a long day, but do-able from Rome and worth it.

We had a wonderful experience on this trip. The tour company was able to work with us on adjusting the time since our ship came in later than most do. Luca, our driver, was easy to find and waiting for us. Our guide, Alfredo, was incredibly knowledgeable about Pompeii and Herculaneum. He was able to answer all of our questions while providing a detailed and interesting tour of both cities, as well as being patient and helpful with some mobility limitations in our party. We also had to make some itenerary changes for scheduling reasons, but we saw everything we wanted to, had a great trip, and got back to our ship with plenty of time.

Both our tour guide, Diego and driver, Giovanni were excellent. Giovanni was on time and navigated the traffic expertly! Diego was very knowledgeable about Pompeii and Herculaneum, giving us insights to the art and the history as well as the archeology. There was so much to see. Herculeneum has more that we would have liked to have explored but time and physical exhaustion didn’t allow for it! I might suggest starting there rather than Pompeii. Overall, an excellent trip! Fantastic guided tour with Sergio! Lots and lots of information and explained everything well along with welcoming questions - extremely professional especially whilst dealing with an unreasonable tourist. The think it would be helpful to make it a little more obvious where the guides were at the beginning and would’ve liked slightly longer in Pompei, however as we were also experiencing Herculaneum (highly recommended) I appreciate time was scarce.

It was really good. First, our driver Giovanni was excellent. He worked hard on his English to communicate and he negotiated the curves and hills of the Amalfi Coast safely. Our guide was also excellent. He knew his stuff and tailored it to our interests. The ruins themselves were unbelievable. It is hard to fathom how large Pompeii is without being there. Highly recommend both the tour, the company and the driver and guide.

Pompeii and Herculaneum tours were superb! Reading about the tragedy and seeing what used to be, is mind boggling. Our tour guide Mena was excellent, very knowledgeable. I recommend using one of these certified tour guides, you'll get a much better understanding of how things happened.

The tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum led by our guide and archaeologist, Raphael, was amazing. I am a history teacher and had some background on these two tragic cities, but I still learned so much. The Discovery Channel (or its competitors) would be wise to employ him as a host of an archaeology program. He was charismatic, funny, and entertaining. One would never tire of his Italian-accented English. He would truly give Josh Gates some decent competition.

What an amazing tour! Our guide Dr. Daniela was so knowledgeable, informative, and kind. The history about Pompeii and Herculaneum is incredible. This private tour is worth every penny! Daniela took us to all the major sights while avoiding the crowds. A lunch break was offered, but we decided to skip. By skipping lunch we were able to see most of Herculaneum before the bus crowds got there. Highly recommend!

Amazing tour! We had three teenagers with us and they loved it too. Ivan was our tour guide and he was, not only extremely knowledgeable, but also so great to our entire family! Wear comfortable shoes - it's a long day. Bring water and snacks because you are walking a lot! I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
