Antonio was a wonderful guide for our trip down Amalfi coast. He was able to avoid the heaviest areas of traffic so we saw more than expected. He also arranged a beautiful and delicious lunch (all of us agreed our favorite meal in Italy this far) and made sure we had time for a quick trip to Pompeii. Great family memories!

The driver was a very nice person and drove safely. For $600+ for two people, I expected more. We reserved for 7am but received a last minute note the night before saying the driver would arrive at 9am. While I expressed disappointment over this, I agreed to make the adjustment to our schedule. However, at 7:51 the driver texted and while we would have appreciated to leave earlier originally, we made plans to wake up later and have an extended dinner the night before. Because of the unexpected early arrival, we did not have time to eat breakfast before leaving the hotel. I do not blame the driver as I believe he was misinformed by his management so we carried on, although slightly frustrated and hungry for the first hours of our trip. As stated, the driver was very nice and did a good job with the road, although he did get into a minor collision with another driver while we were in the car. Luckily, it did not cause delay on the trip and everyone was OK. Almost all shops and restaurants were closed in Positano when we arrived and so while it was beautiful, there was no shopping to be had and only one option to grab food. We also had to walk significant down and back up hills as the driver could not (or would not, unsure which) drive the vehicle closer to the bottom of the city where he recommended we go. Our second stop was Amalfi which thankfully had many more shops and food places open, but with only an hour for stopping here you had to make a choice: food or shopping. The last stop was Pompeii and unfortunately there was no offer for help to secure a tour guide and with only 2 hours, it was definitely impossible to get through anywhere close to the good view of the ruins. We had to be very hurried and didn’t know much about where to go or what to do so we winged it. Again, I want to emphasize the driver was very nice, but there was no help for recommendations for food to eat when we did stop, and with so little time, we forfeited eating most of the day in order to stick to a tight schedule. He was very kind and unexpectedly gave us a large water bottle to share after Pompeii that was very refreshing. Overall, I think you are better off to rent a car and do this drive yourself.
Our day trip with Amalfi Coast Day Tours was absolutely phenomenal! We had a seamless pickup from our hotel and were driven around Amalfi, Pompeii and Positano by the lovely Carmine. He gave us great historical facts throughout the drive and was great to just chat with! We also got a private tour of Pompeii by a native, who spoke so passionately about the historical landmark it made us jealous we weren't from there as well. Grace's passion and love for Pompeii was one of the highlights for us! Do not hesitate in using this company for any of your tours!
The drive was the most amazing part of this - the winding road with incredible views as far as the eye can see. Also it makes the Amalfi coast accessible. We were able to visit (briefly) Positano, Amalfi and Ravello and see what they each have to offer. Our driver customized our trip for us, so that we spent more time in those places and just about an hour in Pompei. He was incredibly friendly and shared interesting history about each area.
It was a truly memorable experience. Our guide Carmine was well organized, knowledgeable, entertaining and super flexible. He made extra stops whenever we wanted and gave us as much time as we wanted to explore the Amalfi coast. For Pompeii, they organized us a private guide (get Grace if you can!) for a very insightful two-hour-tour through the impressive ancient ruins. And pick-up and drop-off in Naples worked perfectly as well. Plus, we were lucky with the weather, considering it was mid-November. It is a great time though to avoid the massive crowds of high season. A highly recommended day-trip.
We had a Tour with Jon he went over and beyond. He made us feel like locals picking us up in Naples and explained everything on our way to Almafi and Pompei! We had a great tour guide in Pompei and Jon waited for us patiently since our tour went over time! This was a great day and recommended highly!!!!
John with Pompeii Car Service was fantastic. We was very flexible with what we wanted to see in the Napoli region. He also offered a few recommendations and added an hour stop in Sorrento. It’s definitely worth the money! One word of advice - do your research on what you want to see in the area and they’ll do their best to accommodate. We’re very pleased!
This is a small company and it’s obvious that they want to give a thoughtful and comprehensive experience. We only had one day to do the Amalfi coast and Pompeii, and this was really the only way to do it. Our driver, Francesco, picked us up from our hotel In Naples and gave us an AMAZING guided drive all the way through the Amalfi coast. We stopped to take photos, and for about an hour in amalfi, and 1.5 hours in Positano (enough for lunch), before ending the day at Pompeii. Don’t be an idiot like me and drink the night before- the road up amalfi has a lot of twists and turns...beware if you get carsick. Francesco is an excellent driver, but you should know what you’re in for! I would HIGHLY suggest paying the extra 120 € for a private tour of pompeii if you’ve never been there. It’s gigantic and has hardly any signage- and we learned so much on the tour (if you’re lucky enough to get Grace as your guide!!) in two hours you can really only see the highlights, but it’s excellent. It’s hot in summer so bring appropriate Clothing- but there are water fill up stations. Going in the afternoon was actually great because it was cleared out of tourists by the time we got there. The tour cost doesn’t include admission to Pompeii. The guided Pompeii tour (optional), or lunch. Everything else was included. Picked us up at 8, we were back at hotel by about 4:30
As part of our cruise, we opted for the Full day Pompeii & Amalfi Coast as a private excursion. Having done plenty of cruise ship excursions in the past, we really wanted to maximize our time in port and check off our two must see places: Pompeii and Amalfi Coast. This tour did not disappoint and was one of the highlights of our Med cruise. While the price of the private tour may be a little a more than your standard cruise excursion, we found it well worth the investment. Our guide (Francesco) contacted us prior to the day of our excursion, letting us know that he would be waiting outside the cruise port holding a sign with our name on it. Francesco recommended starting our day at the Amalfi Coast since the traffic can be crazy in the afternoon. We had lunch at one of the towns and then Pompeii later in the afternoon. Our driver (Francesco) arranged for a private guide for the Pompeii (~120 e) which was worth it. Francesco was awesome. Very clean car, and felt safe the entire time as he told us the history of the area and navigated through the curves and turns along Amalfi. Tips: - Bring good walking shoes since many of the towns can be quite hilly - We opted for a quick lunch to take in more of the sights - Bring ~120 e if you wish to have a private guide for Pompeii (did not see this as an option for booking) - Pompeii was hot, but having the guide helped focus on the highlights (its so big you could spend a day there) Tour company was thru
Fantastic driver/guide - Francesco. Wonderful day on Amalfi Coast followed by tour of Pompeii with Grace. Lots of opportunities to spend time in Amalfi, Positano and Pompeii, enjoy the scenery and have our many questions answered. Highly recommend this local company from Naples,
Our visit to Pompei was extraordinary! We learned a lot of history about its ruins from our passionate guide David and despite the scorching hot day it was well worth it!
Wonderful experience on our recent visit in Naples, Italy. The tour exceeded my expectation. I highly recommend Amalfi Coast Day Tours. Our tour guide, Francesco, is a local in the area and he has so much knowledge about the areas. He made the tour very organized, enjoyable and relaxing. Amalfi and Ravello are so beautiful. In the afternoon, we also visited the archeological sites in Pompeii and this company partnered us with the wonderful tour guide, Johanna. She is so passionate with the place and has bounty of knowledge that she shared with us.Both Franceso and Johanna are so wonderful and very conscientious of my mom. They ensured that the whole group are enjoying and comfortable with the trip. Forget about the cruise tours.Private tours are the best. It really made a big difference since my mom had a knee procedure couple of years ago, this tour made it possible for my mom to enjoy and have a relaxing experience. No big crowds to follow, one on one interactions with our guides, no feeling of being rushed, perfect personal private experience. I highly recommend Tours Amalfi Coast.
I can't speak highly enough of this full-day tour of the stunning Amalfi Coast. Francesco picked us up near our accommodation an our journey began. Such a wealth of real, in-depth knowledge of the areas that we visited. I am a photographer and have been planning to photograph this region. Francesco's knew all the best viewing platforms and I wasn't disappointed. I would highly recommend Amalfi Coast Day Tours to anyone who only has a day and wants to take in all the pleasure that it provides. Amalfi and Positano are simply breathtaking whilst Pompeii more than satisfies those with an archaeological love. A brilliant day!!!
Johnluca our tour guide was fantastic. This is a small family tour and limousine business that really cares and ensures you and your family are well informed and get to see as much as possible. Our guide was very polite and made sure my family were very comfortable through out the whole tour. Thanks johnluca I will be recommending you and your company to my friends and relatives coming to Positano and Amalfi. Cheers Darren
We decided to do a last minute tour of Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. We found John via Trip Advisor and booked a tour starting from Napoli Centrale. John was an amazing guide throughout the trip. He was on time, to pick us up at the station. He planned our itinerary according to the time we had available. He first took us to Pompeii and afterwards took us to Amalfi coast. We went on a beautiful drive via Positano on the way to Amalfi along the coast overlooking the Mediterranean sea. The views were gorgeous and he stopped at the perfect locations where we could spend some time and get great pictures. Each picture looked postcard perfect because of the spots he chose. He also made great suggestions for shopping and took us to a local ceramic factory which was one of a kind. He also suggested local popular food and restaurants that we would like. It was great to go by his advice. Very friendly and a dearth of knowledge about the area. Overall one of the most memorable trips. This is easily one of the most memorable excursions I have had.
What a lovely day Franchesco took us all around and we got to see beautiful views of Pompeii the Amalfi coast and the whole region a very knowledgeable and experienced friendly Guide. This is definitely a must do. Wonderful memories were created thank you Franchesco for giving us a wonderful view and tour of the region. We were VERY happy!!
We went on our tour on 9/30/18. We trained from Rome to Naples, our driver was waiting for us at the platform with a sign. We visited all along the Amalfi Coast and had a chance to walk around, our amazing driver stopped multiple times to take photos of the beautiful scenery. We were dropped off for lunch in Positano. Next we drove through Sorrento and visited Pompeii. We hired a private guide to show us Pompeii which I highly recommend. We drove in a very comfortable air conditioned van, our driver handled the van so well. I would not ever try to drive to Amalfi myself because the roads are very windy and tight.
We booked a private tour with Amalfi Coast Day Tours in July 2018 for our family of four, and had a wonderful time. We took a train from Rome to Naples, and were met at the station platform by John. Our plan was to visit Pompeii and some spots on the Amalfi Coast, including Ravello, and then head back to Rome by train. We had been to the Amalfi Coast before (Sorrento, Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri), but there were other parts of the coast that we wanted to see on this trip. We also prearranged for a private tour of Pompeii through Amalfi Coast Day Tours. Upon meeting us at the station, John listened to what we wanted to see and do, and then planned out our itinerary. John was great at planning our day, so that we got to do everything that we wanted to do and see as much as possible. We spent the most time in Ravello (beautiful little town), and stopped for lunch at a great little restaurant with an amazing view of the ocean. John even stopped the van to buy us freshly made Italian lemon ices from a roadside stand, saying that we just had to try it--and it was really great. We also stopped at a few lesser known villages along the coast between Salerno and Positano, and then headed over to Pompeii, where we met up with our Pompeii tour guide, Anna. We spent a couple of hours touring Pompeii, and we really enjoyed our time there. Anna was quite knowledgeable and was an excellent guide. Everything went off without a hitch, and we all had a great time. The van was spacious and comfortable for our family of four, and John was a great driver and guide. We made it back with plenty of time to catch our train, too. We would highly recommend Amalfi Coast Day Tours to anyone who is looking for a great private tour of the Amalfi Coast.
There are 8 of us and the driver picked us up from Port of Naples on Jun 21. The driver was punctual. Car was clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was cool and ready for us and the driver kept asking if the car was cool enough during the trip. We appreciated very much especially during the hot heat wave. There were many little things done and treated us like Royal. The driver is knowledgeable and have answered all questions we asked. He stopped at the most scenic spots for us (who likes photography) for photo taking. Restaurant recommended for lunch was excellent, tasted the best Pizza. On the route, we also tasted the sweetest fruits and tasteful mini -strawberry tarts. He made the trip unforgettable.
We had an excellent time taking the tour on the Amalfi coast and Pompeii! Although the weather was less than perfect on that day, we cherished the drive across the milky mountains to Amafi, while stopping at a few points including the beautiful little towns of Amalfi and Positano. It was a very enjoyable experience for all of us including the 2 teenagers. Many thanks to Grace and the driver who made every effort to make sure that we were comfortable while narrating the interesting facts at various points. Their hospitality touched us dearly and we felt at home while spending the day with them taking the scenic and picturesque drive, and strolling along the beautiful alleys and stores in the little beach towns. Marco, the tour guide at Pompeii, was very pleasant, who showed us the key points of interest even in rainy and wet conditions!!! Thank you Grace, Rosy, John and team for the lovely experience. We carried back many great memories!!! We will certainly recommend this tour to our friends and colleagues.
All smiles after a great tour of the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii thanks to Angelo, our driver and host for the day. He took the time to make the day very special, finding special activities and stops that our five year old son would enjoy, too. We saw a lot in a short amount of time, including a fjord and grotto, shopping time in Positano, the lemon cello factory, and a locally owned pizzaria with fantastic views. From there, we traveled to Pompeii where we enjoyed about 90 mins touring the ruins. While this wasn’t enough time (we could’ve spent an entire day), it was enough time to know we will return someday when our son is older. Everything about this trip, from booking to the drop off at our cruise ship, was easy and perfect. Thanks for making our first trip to the region so amazing!
This was the PERFECT way to see the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii in one day while staying in Rome. We took the early train from Roma to Napoli station and arrived 08:30 and were greeted by Gianluca. The vehicle was a newish Mercedes Van that was very comfortable. He knew exactly how to make the best use of our time and ensure we would not be delayed by traffic. He stopped at all the perfect vistas for photos and shared interesting information about the area. We had ample time for a beachside lunch and shopping. The day was ended with a tour of Pompeii by Francesco. He is an archaeologist by training which made our visit much more interesting. Francesco had a great sense of humor and we were very fortunate to have him lead our tour. I would highly recommend this group and this tour in particular.
We took the express train from Rome and really enjoyed our time with John. He met us at the train station in Naples and we were off. Positano was our first stop - breathtaking! Then to Amalfi to Pompeii. Pompeii was our highlight- totally worth the extra fee for the local guide to go with you.
We found the company online after read thought lots reviews. They are the excellent communicator and provided every details we asked for. We were still not hundred percent sure till we arrived at the port of Naples. Antonio, our driver and guide had been waiting us with signs. He is kind and friendly with professional manners, speaking fluently in English. It was raining heavily that date but Antonio brightened up our day!.He explained lots local culture, traditions and stories to us. Due to the bad weather condition, we stopped by at Positano, Sorrento and Pompeii, did not go to Amalfi because our cruise ship would be leaving at 5 pm. we did see a lots. Positano and Sorrento were our favorite and sure we will come back.
Gianluca was already at the hotel, ready to go 15 minutes before our pick up time. He was very professional, clean cut and spoke English well. As we drove out of Naples headed to the Amalfi he pointed out & mentioned historical sties and facts about the city & Pompeii. Perfect clear day for a drive along the coast we stoped at different look out points for breathtaking photos of the landscape. He was knowledgeable of the region and helpful taking pictures for us, etc. In beautiful Sorrento & Positano he let us do what ever we wanted and suggested the best way to take advantage of our time there. He was very flexible with change of plans on the fly and came to pick us up where ever we happened to be when we were ready to keep going. He got fresh tangerines for us during the day, water on the way back and we even got some limoncello as a parting gift. The Mercedes van was very clean and new. I could not think of one thing that was not to our liking. Car was big enough for 5 large adults (2 in back, 2 in 2nd row and 1 in passenger seat) and could easily fit two more small adults or children. I highly recommend this perfect tour!
A great day trip from Naples. Our guide Carmine not only knew everything about the region, he was also very entertaining and super flexible. Extra stops were possible at any time, longer stays as well. For Pompeii, they also organized a private tour: the highly competent Grace not only brought us closer to life in ancient Pompeii, but also all the historical details surrounding the volcanic eruption. At sunset, the old ruined town is particularly impressive, so: Amalfi Coast in the morning, Pompeii in the afternoon. Mid-November is also an ideal time to avoid the crowds of the high season – and we were lucky with the weather. Highly recommended!
It's worth it. Go with willingness to walk, arrive early and bring plenty of water, sunscreen, cap and a good tennis. Do a research on the history of Pompeii. Fantastic walk.
