Pompeii & Herculaneum Day Trip From Naples With Lunch

A fascinating experience visiting both historic sites. I would advise visiting the Archaeological Museum in Napoli BEFORE visiting the sites as some people on our tour were left a little deflated with the lack of artifacts in Pompeii and they enjoyed Herculaneum more, which was a bit surprising as Pompeii is really eye opening and amazing. The artifacts found in Pompeii are housed in the museum. Both tours were superb and both tour guides (Francesco for Pompeii and Maria for Herculaneum) were very knowledgable, friendly and fielded questions throughout. A big thanks also to Rebecca Pasquale (sorry couldn't remember your full name!) as she has only been with the company for a couple of weeks but she was very helpful, friendly and professional.

A very well-organised and enjoyable day from Naples. Visiting both Pompeii and Herculaneum in the same trip was a fantastic experience, as the two sites complement each other perfectly and give a fascinating insight into Roman life. The tour was well paced, the guide was knowledgeable, engaging and clear, and everything ran smoothly throughout the day. We particularly appreciated the explanations and historical context, which made the ruins much more meaningful than simply visiting them on our own. Lunch and transportation were well organised, making the whole experience easy and stress-free. A full day, but absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Naples who wants to experience both Pompeii and Herculaneum in one day.

The tour was too slow. First of all, they changed our time. Later we understood why. From one group in English and other in Spanish, they made just one. The explanations from guides were too slow, and they repeated all twice, in Spanish and in English. This is a torture under this sun and heat. It was a moment I decided to go by myself and it was the best idea. Maria, the old lady in Ercolano, missed many points. My family stayed with her and they missed the best parts. I could see more things because I did it by myself. Also, it was a french family that had nothing in french. I had to help them with the translation. At the end they went also by theirselves. A shame. I will not recommend at all this tour.

Great experience doing both cities in the one day! Very hot, so remember to bring water and sunscreen :)

Christian and Pasquale were great! We had such a good time learning about Pompeii and Herculaneum. With the summer heat, these tours were more than enough time in both places. The hotel pickup with a well air conditioned ride was so convenient and worth it! Definitely recommend!

Christian and Pasquale were awesome! They were very friendly and did a great job explaining to us in fluent English what was going on at each step of the way. They even modified to pick us up a little early when everyone was done. Would do again, 100%!

Went to Pompeii as a child and always wanted to return Just had to wait 65 years It did not disappoint Our tour guide Monica was excellent She provided lots of information It was a very hot day and she kept the right pace and tried to provide shade Pompeii is an amazing place Herculaneum was also a fascinating place to visit Much smaller than Pompeii but so well preserved

A well-structured tour, first to Pompeii where we joined a larger group with an English speaking guide. Fascinating and informative descriptions of life in 79 AD. Then a three course lunch. We proceeded to Herculaneum where we used audio guides to explore this wonderful site. An excellent tour!

An excellent day tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Guide Cristian and driver Mundabo took great care of us. In the morning we joined a larger group tour with an official guide who was very informative. After a 3 course lunch we visited Herculaneum where we did a self-directed tour with audio guide. Fabulous day - we saw and learnt so much!

Great tour. Aldo was fantastic answered all our questions. Car trip was nice and smooth. Guide at Pompeii was great and spent a good amount of time at each spot. Lunch was included and was nice.

I appreciate the good communication even before the trip .. Meetup with Christian was on time .. gave us history of Naples & noted a famous church up the hill along the way to Pompeii .. checking on us to make sure we are good .. Ricardo has a very clean vehicle & made jokes to cheer us up after tiring day in a very hot summer heat .. thank you

This tour mostly accomplished what it set out to. Our hostess Ivanna was very sweet and walked to pick us up at n front of our hotel even though the van couldn’t drive there. I wasn’t happy with several more stops, some with long waits to locate other passengers. We didn’t arrive to Pompeii for a solid two hours after pickup even though the drive was only 30 minutes from Naples. We were directed to a toilet in a cafe just outside the entry while tickets were purchased. This too awhile, but we still weren’t successful in traversing the little by bathroom line. I’m not sure why there was such a wait to buy tickets. Matters improved from there. The guided tour of Pompeii was excellent with an on site guide. We then had a great lunch in a pre-purchased meal at a hotel within Pompeii. Subsequently we drove a quick 15 minutes to Herculaneum to be led by another on site guide. She was very good, but the tour kept better interrupted as she switched from Spanish to England for half the group. It was a long day with a fair amount of waiting, but we did see both Pompeii and Herculaneum as promised along with transport door to door. Although expensive, it was a good value. Perhaps it would have been more efficient on a less crowded day.

Liked that confirmation was quick and details were useful and accurate. Pick up exactly on time. Tour guides made experience worthwhile. Price worth it. Length of day just right. Avana great.

I booked this for my family based on a past trip to Pompeii & Herculaneum -- I knew I didn't want to handle the logistics nor did I want a hungry child on my hands, but I did want to go to both places as they are both fascinating and unique in their own regard. Overall, this was exactly what I wanted -- I loved that they pick you up at your hotel, they handle transport there, you get a guided tour of Pompeii, then lunch, then transport to Herculaneum. For this mom who didn't want to manage the whole labor of figuring all that out, it was absolutely worth it. Great communication was much appreciated. One surprise, not a criticism but just something I didn't expect, was that our facilitator was not our guide in any way. I guess I had expected that would be the case based on my previous trip, but they really just facilitated everything - transit, coordinating meeting times and such. I had thought they would lead our tour and/or do lunch with us, but that was not the case. At Pompeii there was a guided tour, Maria the tour guide was lovely and gave us a great overview. You could easily spend many days at Pompeii, this wasn't an in-depth tour - but if you want just the highlights, it's a good one. Our lunch was fine, you could select pizza or pasta and a salad, and there was time to visit the gift shop. Herculaneum we had only an audio guide which maybe I missed in the booking, I thought we'd have an actual tour guide but we didn't. We had 1.5 hours there which wasn't quite long enough in my opinion - I think 2 hours would have been perfect. My kid (8yo) is an absolute history buff so the pace and tours were great for him; if your kid isn't into history or has a super short attention span, you might stick with just Pompeii. But it's truly an one of a kind experience and makes history so real, I definitely recommend it. I think we went with Sabrina and our driver was Salvatore; they were both wonderful and I very much appreciated that they organized everything for us so that we could just enjoy our trip. The other travelers in our group were wonderful as well. It's pricey but in my opinion completely worth it to have them manage the logistics. Thank you for a wonderful day we won't forget!

Great day trip, our guide, Aldo was friendly and informative

I wanted to like this tour but there were a lot of hiccups. We arrived by cruise ship and the communication with the company was great via WhatsApp. Pick up was a little late because of previous passengers..no big deal but on the van they were telling people that they booked the tour without the entrance fee. (Why sell a tour that doesn’t include the entrance fee. Do a separate shuttle option) When we booked we made sure this was included and when they came to me I let that be known. The pickup staff wasn’t aware of who had paid or not. Next we get dropped off and get free time while we wait for the guide to show up. We stood around for about 30 minutes. Following that there’s words said between an Italian guy and the guide because we believe he booked the wrong tour or the company didn’t have a tour strictly for his language so our tour guide ended up having to do it in two languages to accommodate. I feel that took away from the group since this was supposed to be an English speaking tour. The guide was knowledgeable but hard to hear with so many other groups. The little microphone that some companies use would have been helpful. Our tour included lunch and the restaurant that they take you too is good. We had a choice between chicken, pasta or pizza. If you wanted more than water you had to pay for that. What we didn’t like was the tour group drops you off at the restaurant and gives you the number to call the driver to pick you up. Not everyone has international calling and one person ends up feeling like a den mother till everyone is on the van. At Herculaneum the drive walked us in and got the ones that didn’t have tickets to get their tickets and got us audio guides. You were free to walk around the site at your own pace and listen to the guide as you wish. We had about an hour and a half to explore which was perfect for us. Might could have used a little longer so we could check out a few more areas but we were happy with this part of the tour. Our driver was also amazing for the fact that he talked to us and told us about the area, gave suggestions, and showed us the castles.

Great day. Worry free experience. Picked up and escorted, warmly and expertly. February may seem unlikely time to visit these sites but for us the temperature on a clear sunny day is lovely and the sites are free of crowds. Christian was our guide enroute, really informative. Dario our driver, we were in safe hands throughout. Highly recommend this stress free day. Lunch was good too!

This was a great excursion even though the last stop was mostly closed. More time in Amalfi would have been great, less time in Rovello.
