Capri & Anacapri: Blue Grotto Or Boat Ride Options

Chiara met us on time at the designated spot off of our cruise. She got our ferry tickets while we stood in line to go to take the ferry to Capri. We went on a boat ride around Capri and after she had a car waiting for the 6 of us to go up to Anacapri. We took the chairlift to top, had lunch, shopped and driver took us back to the ferry. We had an amazing day with our guide Marisa. We took the hydrofoil from Naples to Capri and then a small private bus from Capri to Anacapri and took the chairlift to the top! Super fun and a little scary! Enjoyed the views at the top. Came back down and did some shopping. We then took the small bus back to Capri. Get some amazing Caprese sandwiches, boarded a wooden boat and explored the waters around the island. The seas were a little rough. We didn’t wait the line for the blue grotto. Enjoyed the delicious sandwiches. Next swam in the sea. It was our daughter’s 16 yr birthday and Marisa lit a special candle and brought some champagne for us to celebrate! Wonderful day!!

Dear Paola, What an absolute PLEASURE to meet you today! You are bright, beautiful, and so kind! We were so lucky to have our paths cross. We LOVED your informative tour, and with our questioning, loved hearing about your family. Thank you so much for sending the pictures. PLEASE come to the United States, either New York or Chicago...we will NEVER forget you! (And thanks as well for taking care of us during the seasickness). Everything's good now, and back to normal. This was our first time to this part of Italy. I read about the crowds in Capri. We decided to take a fully escorted tour so we could leave the hustle and bustle to someone else. From the first moment we met the guide we knew we were in good hands. The day went flawlessly. We saw and did everything we wanted to do. And! Saw so much more than we would have seen if we were on our own. The guide understands the traffic patterns and crowd flows and was able to steer around it when possible. We were far more efficient and more nimble with a guide than we could have been on our own. A narrated boat ride around Capri with a chance to swim. Delightful (and they provide towels). Can you do it on your own? Of course But why bother.

Our family, Mom, Dad and 3 Adult children booked this tour off of a friend’s positive experience. It was everything we hoped for and more. Paolino was our bubbly, knowledgeable and prompt guide. We did not want or need anything on this trip. Very Relaxing and educational. From the first time we reached out to the company to the end everyone was very communicative and nice. Loved it!!!

Paola was FANTASTIC! Truly the best tour guide and tour we have ever taken. She was so educated, extremely on time and everything went so smoothly. She was very genuine and made our tour the best it possibly could be! As for the tour, it was absolutely stunning and very well planned, we can not recommend this enough- 10/10! Had a fantastic day on this tour - made some great memories . Our guide Paola was brilliant - was so friendly and made us feel very comfortable and knew so much about the Island . She gave us options so we could decide how to get the best out of the day and all her recommendations were excellent ! Was much nicer being in a smaller group. Definitely recommend !

We took the private Capri boat and island tour from Positano. Our guide was Patty and she was amazing! She met us in Positano to take us to Capri on the ferry. She purchased the tickets and held onto our return ferry tickets to ensure we didn’t lose them. She asked if anyone had problems with sea sickness, which some did, so she took us to the pharmacy to purchase gum that helps with the sickness (it worked perfectly!) She also adjusted our tour schedule because the captain said the seas would be rougher in the afternoon. We started with an approximately 2 hour boat tour of the island which included swimming if people wanted to stop. Prior to the tour we were asked if we wats to book lunch or purchase sandwiches from a deli on the island. We choose sandwiches to maximize our time on the tour and I highly recommend this choice. Patty ordered the sandwiches while we’re on the boat so we could quickly pick them up and continue with the tour. The next stop was the land tour starting in Anacapri. We had the choice of staying in the town, going on the chair lift or visiting the villa. We had a group of 11 and everyone had the option to do whichever they preferred. The final stop was in Capri and we had ample time there as well. Overall, there is nothing that could have been improved with our experience and I cannot say enough good things about our guide Patty and her extensive knowledge of the entire area!

We had a wonderful day with Chiara. She was terrific. She was patient and totally flexible, willing to do what we wanted. She knew the best places for pictures and was a pro in getting the transportation we needed to get where we wanted to go. She also made sure we got our lunch in record time. I would highly recommend her to anyone securing this trip. We really enjoyed the tour, we just wished we had more time. Thanks again for helping us make this happen - it was a perfect day.

We toured Capri with Mondo tours and guide Paula. The tour included ferry from Sorrento to Capri, taxis around the island to see Anacapri and Capri, the Monte Solaro Chair lift, and a boat tour. While there, we could tailor the tour as we desired and also chose to shop and tour Villa San Michele. We loved the beauty and quiet of Villa San Michele. The boat tour around the island was so much fun! It was quiet, peaceful, and the water was so clear and just right for swimming. Paula was a fantastic tour guide: personable, knowledgeable, and patient (travelling with family we weren't always sure ahead of time exactly how to proceed and she helped us work through it). Mondo tours did a great job prepping a Capri trip. I really enjoyed what they did, but as far as Capri goes, it is beautiful but be ready for a lot of people.

What an amazing and personalized experience with our guide, Paola !! She was incredibly friendly, ensured that our tour was catered to our exact desires, and was very knowledgeable about the entire island of Capri. (She also took fabulous pics for my wife and I.) I would highly recommend that you try and personally ask for Paola whenever visiting Capri !!

We booked a private tour (4 people) so we could maximize our day on the Sorrento peninsula - there's a lot to see and as we were only there during a cruise, we wanted to do as much as possible, and I'm pleased to report that Mondo absolutely delivered the best day possible, not a minute was wasted and the tour organization was incredibly well delivered. I made contact with the company a couple of months prior to our visit, and had a general idea of what we wanted to see - Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri - which was an already ambitious schedule given the time available. Mondo (Dario & Alexis) were very responsive to e-mails which were out of their working day, and gave us lots of options, from group tours to a private guide with drivers. We ended up with the latter, and they put together an itinerary for us which I must confess thought was optimistic - Essentially, we were to be picked up from the dock in Naples, whisked to Pompeii, then Sorrento, then a ferry to Capri, quick tour there, then boat trip around the island and back by commercial jet ferry in time for our cruise ship to depart. It didn't seem to leave much margin for error, but I was assured all would be well, and indeed it was! Further confirmation of the plan and to easy my mind was made over a Whatsapp call, unfortunately I can't remember who I spoke to but his English was better than mine and I'm English! The day before we docked, I had confirmation of our guide's name, Paola, and she also connected with me through Whatsapp that evening. At this point I knew we were in good hands. Sure enough, Paola was waiting for us as arranged and we were whisked into a car by the most urbane and sharply-dressed driver, who wasted no time in getting us out of the Naples traffic and to Pompeii. Here we met the irrepressable Patrizia, our specialist guide - more of this in a separate review. Needless to say Pompeii and Patrizia were both amazing. After the tour of around 100 minutes, our driver magically appeared and we were off to Sorrento. Paola, who has an irrepressable smile and is effortlessly charming and engaging, kept us entertained and informed as we mostly sat in traffic on the very busy Sorrento road. With a ferry to catch, and the traffic eating into our time, we had about 40 minutes in Sorrento, which we hope to come back to and explore in a more leisurely way some day, but this was enough to grab a coffee, do a little shopping, and get a feel for the place, as the centre is quite compact. Next stop, the 30 minute ferry ride to Capri, Paola discreetly arranging the tickets for us. On the island, a further driver awaited to wind us up the "Mamma Mia" road leading to the town square half way up the island, via an excellent sandwich shop on route. There's very little road on Capri, and that which exists is best suited to maybe a couple of donkeys, so you will appreciate his skills. Back down to the dock, and, like magic (and, I noticed, some discrete calls by the driver and Paola), a beautiful boat (actually more like a sleek wooden launch) draws up and we are off on a tour with Captain Ciro. It was a little choppy on the North side of the island, so the famous Blue Grotto was closed, but the scenery was spectacular and Ciro was adept in maneuvering his boat into the narrowest of caves and inlets so we could see some caves and the legendary blue waters in other places. Paola was ever-present with information and there were refreshments and the previously-mentioned sandwiches. The boat tour was a definite highlight of Capri, but had the weather proved too much, Mondo had another plan for us (we would have driven further into the island to AnaCapri). Back after a couple of hours to the dock and the confusing scrum of the port (with about 8 ships leaving within 10 minutes of each other, we were all glad to have Paola to get our tickets and ensure we got on the right boat (with a decidedly non-English approach to queuing which Patrizia also used to great effect in Pompeii!). The jet ferry back to Naples was about 50 minutes and bang on time, and conveniently docked right next to the Cruise terminal, so we had 30 minutes before gangplank went up to say goodbye to Paola (who by this point felt more of a friend than guide). I really can't thank Mondo enough for organizing this tour, everyone we dealt with from admin staff to our drivers and guides were truly fantastic, and the organization was clockwork. They took care of everything and we didn't have to stress about anything. We'd had a fairly terrible experience taking another company's tour to Cinque Terre only a couple of days prior (similar price, no guide, a driver who had little English and hadn't actually been to one of the destinations before) and this was the absolute opposite - perfect in every way and I can't imagine using a different company in future - thank you all at Mondo!

Our virtually all-inclusive private Mondo tour of Capri - led by Paola, our knowledgeable and thoughtful guide - was fantastic! Our group of six began from the port of Sorrento, took a hydrofoil to Capri, and then boarded a private boat for a complete circumnavigation of the island. The views from the water were absolutely spectacular. Following that we boarded our van for a trip up to Anacapri, which is a delightful town filled with an assortment of retail shops and restaurants. Plenty of opportunities for free samples of the local food products! We then took the van down to the town of Capri, and toured the area under Paola’s expert guidance. Amazing stores and restaurants, and even more amazing photo opportunities! We concluded with a return on the hydrofoil back to Sorrento to re-board our cruise ship. In every respect, it was a wonderful day - not to be missed.

We enjoyed an amazing day in Capri thanks to Paola from Mondo Tours! She was so friendly, informative, and interesting. She did a wonderful job of anticipating the interests and needs of our group, and she kept our tour active and engaging (two things that are so incredibly helpful when traveling with teenagers:) We really appreciated her attention to individual hopes (for example, she made it possible for our 17-year-old son to hike the stairs to Anacapri while we drove and met him, which he was so excited to do). She also did a wonderful job balancing showing us around with giving us time and space to explore on our own. The whole tour was very engaging. We learned so much but also (and more importantly) relaxed and had fun! Everyone in our group agreed yesterday was one of our favorite experiences of our entire trip to Venice, Rome, and Naples!

What an amazing shared boat tour from Sorrento to Capri. The captain and tour guide were amazing. We toured completely around the island of Capri stopping at the blue white and green grottos experiencing breath taking views of the coastline. When arriving in Capri we were provided with delicious caprese sandwiches and allowed 4 hours to explore the island and were given detailed navigational instructions to maximize our time. On our way home we got to enjoy a swim, champagne and limoncello. What a great day with a very professional and friendly crew.

We very much enjoyed our boat trip to Capri. Our captain Damiano and our guide did a great job describing the sights and made sure we were always comfortable. We were not able to see the blue grotto due to the choppy weather conditions, but Damiano took the boat around the entire island and made numerous stops to see other grottos and even a waterfall! We had 4 hours on Capri to check out the island on our own which was nice. We also made a stop to allow some of the group to swim before heading back to Sorrento. Would definitely use them again!

Wow! What a fabulous experience we had in Capri!! Our family of 8 spent the day with the wonderful guide Serena for a dreamy day in Capri. She was a fantastic guide full of information and charm. We saw the highlights of Capri with the exception of the Blue Grotto. In all fairness, we were given the choice to wait our time (up to 2 hrs for the Blue Grotto guide) or continue around the island seeing other beautiful sights. It was worth every penny! Highly recommend Mondo Guides for making the process very easy and seamless. Serena guided us impeccably throughout the entire day.

We had a wonderful day despite cooler weather. Serena did an awesome job, very knowledgeable and a wonderful person spend the day with.

Today's trip was excellent. Even better than expected. We were picked up promptly at our hotel and delivered back to it by the end of the day. Dario and Andrea were knowledgable and entertaining and extremely competent at their jobs. They provided us with lunch and refreshments and a bit of Andrea Bocelli, just at the right time. In their lovely boat were were able to enjoy all of the sights to, from, and around the island of Capri. We also had free time on the island with clear recommendations about transportation on the island. We had a day full of beauty and relaxation. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Our full day Capri shared tour really delivered. Wonderful captain & crew (1st into the Blue Grotto when it opened!). They gave us interesting facts and history, plus plenty of time to simply enjoy the beautiful day on the water and on the Isle of Capri. The tram in Anacapri is not to be missed. Good company with a small group of fellow travelers from all over. Great value for the money. We also did the Mondo Shared Tours 2-hour Pompei tour. Knowledgeable, fun guide - we would have been absolutely lost trying to see Pompei without a guide. Worth far more than the 15 Euro price for the tour.

What a fantastic trip! Fun and knowledgeable guides who went out of their way to make sure that all of us on the boat had a great time (which we all did). We got up close to a number of caves and grottoes, were able to swim into/through a couple of them, spent a few enjoyable hours on the island, and made it into the fabled Blue Grotto. They also threw in drinks, lunch, and transport to/from our hotel. All in all it was a wonderful day and a very good value. Book this tour! I can also recommend Mondo Guide's Pompeii tour. We took the train up from Sorrento and met our guide, Mafalda, at the entrance. She was great! Super fun and we learned so much about Pompeii.

So impressed with this tour company, not only from the time we booked but including after the trip. The guides, Niko & Chiarra were outstanding, as well as the front desk. They all went over and above - a must is swimming in the green grotto and boat into blue grotto. We felt like family with them. Chiarra even jumped in the water to get my hat that flew off. We greatly enjoyed our Mondo Guide tour to Capri from Sorrento! The guides made the trip so much fun and gave us some information about the area and how to get around the island. We went to the Blue Grotto, toured the island, and had plenty of time to see Annacapri and the town of Capri. Afterward they stopped so we could swim from the boat. The next day we did the MondoGuide tour of the Amalfi coast from Sorrento. We were very pleased with that as well. A lovely drive with enough time in each city to check them out. We highly recommend both tours!

We book a shared Rick Steves tour, with only 12 people on the boat, after looking at many options. Excellent email communication between me and the guide, as we were worried about the weather. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the marina early in the morning. We really wanted to see the blue grotto and it gets crowded later in the day. We were the first boat to arrive. It was closed in the morning but the boat took us back after our visit on the island to see if it was open. We were given 4 hours to tour the island with instructions on which bus to catch to go from AnaCapri to Capri town. Cost was 15 euro but we could take any bus that fit our time frame. We took the chairlift in Anacapri, and the view was amazing. Had Capri sandals made in AnaCapri. We headed to Capri town and took the funicular back to the harbor to board the boat in the afternoon. We then took a wonderful tour around the island to see the green and white grottos. We swam in the sea after contemplating the water temperature, but it was perfect even at the end of September. They had a shower on the boat and we were able to change clothes. Then we were taken back to the marina in Sorrento and a bus took us back to the hotel. A great value with no crowds and a more personal experience. Valentina was excellent and we all shared Prosecco to end our visit.

Thanks to our guide Serena and the experts at Mondguide, our trip to Capri was perfect. They took the stress out of the transportation to & from the Island, which is absolutely breath taking. Thanks to their knowledge of the Island and the contacts that they have there, they were able to get us in the Blue Grotto with no wait time. This gave us more time to boat around the island & swim. They arranged for a wanderful lunch overlooking the cliffs, and then we drove around the island experiencing even more. The day was absolutely perfect. Lisa O.

This shared tour was the best tour we had in Italy!!! Our captain and mate(Attilla) went above and beyond to make sure we had the best trip ever!! They were so informative and treated us to things we didn’t know were included❤️ I highly recommend it!! Worth every penny!!!

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. The boat was very nice and comfortable...we enjoyed the ride upfront to get great views. We had an excellent captain and the skipper Francesco was very friendly and had great suggestions for our time on the island. The cruise around Capri at the end was gorgeous! We enjoyed seeing the green grotto and famous rocks while sipping Prosecco and limoncello. Highly recommend!

Serena was our guide and we had a fabulous day. We arrived at Capri and the boat for our trip around the island was waiting. The boat operator was great, pulled us right in the caves. Then our van was waiting to take us to Anti-Capri. We shopped and saw sights, all the arrangements were so smooth and taken care of. Serena is very knowledgeable about Capri and made our day perfect.

Perfect day to explore Capri by land and sea. I had been to Capri twice before but had never taken a boat tour around the island and i really felt you can't fully appreciate the natural beauty without seeing it from the sea. We were a group of 5 and had a small but very comfortable boat take us on a 2 hour ride around the island. The boat was well stocked with drinks including prosecco, towels and comfy seats. I was concerned the boat had no cover to protect form sun but then I realized that was necessary to get up close inside the grotto , a bigger boat would not fit. Our guide Serena stayed with us for the whole day and had great knowledge of the island history and best places to eat and shop. We really enjoyed our tour and would recommend to anyone visiting Capri. Get away from the crowds and learn from a local to make the best of your day!

This was a glorious trip, on a gorgeous day, during an overall breathtaking trip. From beginning to end exceeded expectations. Pick up from our hotel was timely and comfortable. From the minute we set out on the boat, our guides were friendly, funny and full of fun facts. The hour long tour around the island of Capri was the highlight of our day, and frankly, our trip. It was worth every dollar and every moment, and I am beyond thrilled with the experience. The grottos, the sea, the island of Capri and Anacapri above it, did not disappoint. When can I go back?

We thoroughly enjoyed our boat trip to Capri. The sea was beautiful and Johnny highlighted all the grottos and interesting geographical sites along the way. We had time to swim and plenty of time to explore Capri and Ana Capri. This was definitely a highlight of our trip!
