I booked this experience as a private day tour to Amboseli and it was an amazing experience. I totally enjoyed everything from beginning to end. Amaboseli was wonderful, loved watching the elephants and the Mount Kilimanjaro. My guides were amazing. I had Peter and Daniel, who were my guides and everything was just amazing. It was like hanging out with my friends and I felt totally safe with them as a solo female traveller. I highly recommend this tour and I recommend Peter and Daniel.

Great day trip to visit Amboseli park from Nairobi. Very early start as the drive is long and traffic unpredictable, so prepare to spend many hours in the jeep. Our guide Peter was amazing. He managed to show us a range of wildlife in the park and he had good knowledge of the animals. Surprisingly Amboseli is full of wild birds and we had great fun with Peter showing us all these rare and beautiful birds. Peter navigated through the traffic with ease and got us home on time and safely We had stops for breakfast and lunch - lunch was excellent local cuisine with curries, vegetables and chapatis All in all an excellent day and very different to our safari experience in the Masai Mara. We would recommend the tour and ask for Peter!
It was amazing trip with Peter. Five stars
We had a bad experiencem with this tour oporator which completely ruined our experience of Amboseli national park. In the morning of the tour, a tour guide arrived to our hotel with a broken car which had an issue starting. We hardly managed to leave the hotel. Instead of changing the car, the tour guide proceeded to Amboseli part. It's 5-6 hrs drive (NOT 3-3,5, don;t be fulled !!!). As a result, 30-40 km before we reached the park, our car broke down and could not start. The tour guide sough help from the locals to push the car. We lost almost 1 hr trying to start the car. Finally, we managed to get almost to the park and the car broke down completely 500 m before the entrance. The tour guide ABANDONED and remained with the car. So, we went to buy the entry tickets with a Masaai guy who kindly agreed to drive us in the park in his own vehicle. At the entrance, we were requested to pay entry fee for 2 of us ( 180 USD which was fine and liste on booking) PLUS for the Masaai guy, his car and game drive. Total amount paid- 214 USD which was not what we expected, but the tour guide was not with us to check the price with him and the Masaai guy said nothing gerarding the price. He drove us around the park in his small pick up truck which had only ONE seat for 2 persons (my huisgand is 105 kg ! ), so I had to sit on his lap, otherwise the driver could not use the gear stick. It was terribly uncomfortable. Before going into the park, I asked the tour guide if he could agree with other tour operators to put us in their safari car which he did not do. I appreciate that we were ultomately taken into the park and did not have to drive to Amboseli again, however a small run down pick up truck with 1 seat for 2 adults - was NOT what we paid almost 600 USD for. Upon return from the park, the tour guide and the company manager (don't know his exact title) confirmed to us that we should not have paid extra 34 USD for the Masaai guy, his car and game drive as it was included in the tour price. However, they REFUSED to reimburse us the overpayment which happened due to the tour guide abandoning us in the middle of the road, and REFUSED to PARTIAL refund of the tour price which I believe we are entitled to due to improper vehicle in the park (no safario vehicle which we paid for). Picture of the truck is attached. Not to mention, that the tour guide did not give is lunch vouchers and upon arrival to the restaurant we had issues with getting free lunch. No water was provided to us by this tour operator, despite being listed on the booking. I am giving 2 star rating to the tour guide because during the drive, he provided NO information about the park or Kenya, we drove in complete silence.
My wife booked this trip one day before and we were picked up on time Peter was well known of this park. Well explainga but and animals. I recommend
Our private day tour to Amboseli National Park was absolutely amazing! The highlight was seeing the huge elephant herds with Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background – just like the postcards. Our 4x4 was comfortable and the guide was very knowledgeable and found us lions, zebras, giraffes and so much wildlife. The day was well organized from pickup to drop off. If you want to experience Amboseli and Kilimanjaro in one day, I highly recommend this tour. 5 stars!
Long drive but worth it. Small group, we only had 3! I booked the tour to see Kilimanjaro but the real star of the show was actually the game park! We saw game within 3 min of being in the park, so so so many elephants! We were also so lucky to watch a cheeta while preparing for a hunt! Feat. Maasai walking past!
Pick-up was punctual and seamless, only criticism was that it would have been nice to have been advised in advance who would be picking me up at 5:00AM, still dark. Was surprised and happy to see the same guide I had for a day trip to Lake Nakuru the week before. Peter is truly awesome and if you have the good fortune to have him as your guide, you will not be disappointed. While only the peak of Kilimanjaro was visible during our visit, Peter was in constant communication with other guides to ensure I saw everything that was happening during our time in the park. He is knowledgeable, friendly and an excellent driver. The ride back to Nairobi was an adventure as well!
This Is a second time I went to Amboseli with Rocks Tours. I decided to use Their offer In January due to good previous experience. Everything was organized top notch. Guide picked Us up from apartment and drove safely All the way. On the way he made short stops where Something interesting was nearby (animals, particularly nice kilimanjaro view etc.). In park we spend great time and guide was answering All of our numerous questions.😅😅😅 highly recommend the trip. If possible ask for Peter As your guide!
Very early pick up followed by a long drive with a breakfast stop before reaching Amboseli. We saw lots of birds and animals and the observation point gave a fantastic view of the park. Late lunch followed by the long drive back. Nairobi traffic terrible!!! Weary after a 14 hour day, but thanks to Francis for being our driver and guide
I was staying in Nairobi and booked this day trip. No regrets at all. It is a long day but well worth it if you are short of time. It is a 14 hour day and the roads are not for the feint hearted. Book a Jeep upgrade it is well worth it as there is a lot of corrugating on the tracks to and in the park. Big thank you to Joseph my driver he was first class very SAFE and very knowledgeable and friendly. Saw loads of animals up really close got some outstanding pictures.
Peter was an excellent guide: smart, engaging, full of good advice. He arrived on time, drove us to the park, and we managed to see all the animals on my list plus a bunch more! So many baby elephants 😍. Thank you!
Many thanks to our solo guide and driver Kelvin. He made us feel great within the bad experience in Nairobi. He is kind, thoughtful and well knowledged. Thanks Kelvin. Great job 👍
An unforgettable African safari experience!” My solo safari was nothing short of amazing! From start to finish, everything was well-organized and seamless. The landscapes were breathtaking, the wildlife sightings were incredible, and the entire trip felt like a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. A special thank you to John, my guide, who was absolutely fantastic. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about what he does. His keen eye helped me spot animals I would have otherwise missed, and he shared fascinating facts about each one. I felt safe, well taken care of, and in great company. Highly recommend this tour and especially John—he truly made my safari unforgettable!
Valley Rocks Tour was 10/10 for the service, guides, options of destinations and also very safe for solo traveler and first timer like me. Would totally recommend to all of my friends who want to go to a Safari in Kenya!!! Special thanks to Masi and Julias for the trip!!! 🤗🫶🏼
Worst day out in my life! From the start it was a nightmare and then all the way through. Believe me you never want to go one this tour ever! Highlights of good and bad- 1. Told me 5 am pick up then turned up at 6.30 am leaving me waiting in reception whole time. 2. Guide watched tiktok and spoke loudly to driver for entire day. Tiktok videos are now the background noise on all the videos I took of animals for the day. 3. The driver drove like a maniac on the roads constantly texting and driving, overtaking on blind corners and even nearly crashed into another game viewer at a sighting because he was texting. 4. The "included lunch" was served at 4 pm on the way home which meant no food at all from 5am to 4pm that day. 5. The 4x4 vehicle was not a 4x4 and actually a combi so most roads we had to reverse and couldn't do and their radio was broken so no help finding animals (part of the whole point of having a guide) Pros 1. The driver was kind and nice and tried hard even tho his buddy in the passanger seat had absolutely no manners etc.
I had a wonderful day exploring the Amboseli National Park with Francis (a very good and careful driver - more on that later!). Pick up was easy (from my hotel and exactly on time) and then you have the first part of the trip along the busy Nairobi - Mombasa highway. It is a relief to leave it (2.5-3 hrs) so that you no longer need to overtake the slow-moving lorries (part 1 of why having a good driver is critical). There’s a breakfast stop with delicious fried mahambri but, as I got a breakfast box from my hotel, I only got an (over-priced) tea from there). After that, you are fuelled up and ready for the bumpy roads to the park. To enter the park, stop at the gates and then go inside to pay the fee. It’s easiest if you already have an e-citizen account but if not, Francis helped with that too. Note that there are a lot of Masai selling beaded bracelets, carvings etc. We spent a glorious 4+ hours going all over the park, stopping when either Francis saw something or I wanted to stop. Francis could answer my questions of what things were / or behaviours we saw, and he was able to predict where the elephants would walk so we saw them from a safe (but close) distance as multiple families ambled by. While the big cats eluded us, we saw elephant, warthog, gazelle, wildebeest, buffalo, hippo, ostrich, zebra, giraffe, and more. On the way to lunch, we came across a jeep that had rolled onto its side as the wheel had come off it (literally). No-one was hurt and it’s part 2 of why a good driver is essential - I learned from the passengers that their driver was speeding along the bumpy, potholed, roads. I felt safe while being taken around by Francis. Lunch was back at the same breakfast place and they offered a buffet of various meat/veg options. I’m vegetarian and it was easy to find things to eat. Lunch was served with a lovely juice. And then it’s back to the city. I would recommend trying to stay awake during the drive so you can see the towns and countryside you pass through. Thank you Valley Rocks and Francis for a memorable day!
Francis was spectacular. He made the experience rewarding. We saw every animal you would want to see in the park. Francis knew the ins and outs of the park so well we were able to be efficient and targeted in our visit.
Great tour! Beautiful scenery. Kelvin was very kind and knowledgeable. We spotted many different animals. I can only recommend it!
Kilamanjaro is magnificent. Worth seeing. We did the safari and stayed at the lodge. Ours was okay (will not name) but I highly recommend you do deep investigation on the lodge you select. Some look good, but rooms are not that great. Another warning: Be prepared for extremely bumpy roads at an entire new level. One day of doing these roads is a workout. Be sure your safari vehicle is in good shape. Ours was not.
This tour and our guide was phenomenal! The best experience I have ever had on a tour. I normally don’t write reviews but I had such an amazing time and want everyone to know. Kelvin was the best guide you could ask for. We started the morning a little rough with a flat tire but he was so efficient and fixed it within minutes and we were on our way back to the Amboseli national park. He answered all our questions and kept us entertained from 5 AM until drop off at 9 PM! It was such a long day and his personality and patience made the long day seem like a breeze. I did this tour with my 4 year old and she loved Kelvin! He was truly a joy to be around. This company is definitely a smaller and overlooked than the bigger named Safari tour guides but, I promise it’s worth it!! They’re so personable and truly care about their customers. Please book with Valley Rocks Tour. Kelvin was the ABSOLUTE BEST TOUR GUIDE!!!
Great experience. Beautiful scenery. Peter was very kind and knowledgeable and patient. I would go again in a minute.
While day trip with driver Kelvin, who was really helpful and accommodative of my needs. Amboseli itself is definitely great place though it is matter of luck what you will/will not actually see. However, I believe the driver did maximum for his side. It is truly whole day trip, 4.5 h transport, 4 h game drive, 4.5 h transport back.
Their service and explanation are very awesome, especially John and Mercy have good combination. They set up all schedule on time and arrange good resultant! I feel they also good vibes and love animals so much! John knows Safari because of his long time career and drove so safety. Mercy explained about history of Amboseli clearly and more detail for each animals here! We really do appreciated their perfect guide! When we coming back here, we definitely ask them to guide Safari again! Respect for Valley Rocks Tours‼️
During my volunteering experience in Nairobi, I had a free day and decided to go on a day trip. Originally, I planned to do the tour alone, but the organisers contacted me the day before, asking if someone else could join. I didn’t mind, so it ended up being a lovely lady, also from Italy, and I. The visit to the park itself was fantastic. We saw many animals, and the driver/guide shared a lot of interesting facts about them. He was very kind overall, also stopped to let us take pictures of the Kilimangiaro along the way (even if you couldn’t really see it clearly) since he knew it wouldn’t be visible later on because of the clouds. However, I wasn’t particularly fond of the stop at a shop/restaurant along the way. We spent quite a bit of time there and were constantly pressured to buy something as we walked around. Later, we returned to the same place for lunch at around 4 pm, as the trip took longer than expected. This wasn’t an issue, but had I known, I would have brought a packed lunch and eaten at the park’s picnic site instead. We also visited a Maasai village, which cost an additional $30 to be paid in cash directly to the villagers. Since I wasn’t aware of this in advance, I didn’t have any cash on me. Fortunately, the lady I was travelling with kindly lent me the money, allowing me to join the visit. The experience was interesting, but I felt a bit pressured to purchase items from their market. I ended up spending 4,000 KSH on three beaded bracelets and a giraffe keychain. Later, I saw almost identical bracelets being sold in Nairobi for just 300 KSH, which made it clear this was a typical tourist trap. The overall experience was nice but I would probably change the schedule a bit to make it better!
I booked a Private Day Tour of Amboseli National Park with Valley Rocks Tours and had an amazing experience. I was sharing the tour with another person, who I didn't know and initially I was going to do the tour solo, but it was great to share the experience with someone else equally as excited as me. Our brilliant tour guide was Esborn. He was super friendly and extremely informative about all the animals we saw - and there were a LOT of animals! Several families of elephants with some lovely close-up encounters, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, wildebeests, buffalos, ostriches, and... we were lucky enough to see the king of the jungle! It is apparently quite rare to see a lion roaming around, so we felt very lucky about that. The tour starts with a 5am hotel pickup, then a 2-hour drive to the first stop for breakfast and toilet break, then another 1.5-hours to the park. It was great to open the roof of our vehicle so we could stand up and take in all the surroundings. The weather was very hot, but we were mostly in the shade. Sadly, Kilimanjaro was covered by cloud for most of the day, although we did glimpse the peak in the morning when we first arrived. Overall, it was a fantastic day and one I'll never forget.
Great tour! Seeing Kilimanjaro from afar was cool and I was lucky enough to see a family of 6 cheetahs!
This was my first tour in Kenya. My guide, Glen, was very professional and I could lean a lot about wild animals and game drive. I watched many animals there. Good start in Nairobi, and thanks a lot Glen!
This was my second trip with this company, Peter was the guide this time but the first trip was John. Both guide was well known of ecosystem of park and well educated regards animals, I recommend this to any one to this company.
This was my second time booking with Valley Rocks after a great experience last time. Day trip to Amboseli was amazing, saw so many animals, was totally worth it despite the very early start time to make it all in a day. Driver&guide Peter was very friendly and knowledgeable. Recommended!
If you love elephants, zebras, hippos, buffaloes, wetlands and birds, Amboseli National Park is the best. Brian, my tour guide, picked me up at my hotel and after almost 3.5 hours drive we saw the Kilimanjaro and entered this beautiful park. It was a long journey back and forth from Nairobi but it was totally worth it. Thank you again Brian for this amazing trip and letting me have this unforgettable experience.
Given that it was my last day in Nairobi, I booked this last minute so I can get close to see Kilimanjaro. It surely did not disappoint. It was a very pleasant surprise to be picked up by Peter even if it was so early in the morning. The long drive made me catch up on some lost sleep. Upon getting to the park, Peter knew the routes perfectly to see the big (& ugly) 5. The highlight was seeing herds of elephants cross right in front of us with Kilimanjaro in the background. Truly a picture-perfect moment. Peter took his time driving around so we can see more of the park. I didn't realize lunch was at the nice lodge in the park. It was a much-needed break for some good food after the long day. We had a not-so pleasant encounter with some other patrons in the lodge, but that was handled well by the manager of the restaurant. It was another long drive to Nairobi where I was able to catch up on lost sleep again. It was a long and tiring day for me coming from days of traveling, but it was all made better having Peter as the guide. Thanks, Peter!
The trip was well organized. There is a clear and professional communication with the organization. After the pick-up at hotel in Nairobi, it's a drive for about 3-4h untill Amboseli park (over the bumpy Kenian roads, with a quick stop at a souvenir shop. The park is really nice with plenty of wildlife, which you can see from nearby or trough binoculars. The guide explains all the animals and searches actively in order to see as much as possible animals. The lunch at the lodge is really good (buffet). For people with a bad back, it would be advisable to take a full jeep instead of the van .Because this is a real safari on bumpy roads. I would advise the organization. There are friendly and responsive in case of questions or concerns.
I had the best experience with our driver John that I could have imagined! He always took our wishes into account and adapted the game drive to our needs. He always asked if we wanted to stay or move on and drove at the right speed. You could really tell that he was enthusiastic about his job and all the animals. The highlight of the day was the birth of an elephant, which we were able to see right from the start, thanks to John. This experience was so unique, I will never forget it for the rest of my life. I was so happy with John that a few days later I went on another safari with him in Lake Nakuru National Park. I've already told John and I'll say it again here: John was the best safari driver I had in my 2.5 months in Africa and I 100% recommend him to everyone!
Fabulous trip. Kilimanjaro clear as anything. So many animals to spot it was almost overwhelming. Great communication. From company re pick up and drop off times. First class.
It was very nice! The guide was very friendly and cool! The visit to Amboseli Park was very incredible. My only observation is regarding the speed at which he drives! Very fast! :/
Highly recommend this tour by Valley Rocks Tours. John was our guide, he was right on time 4:40am. Traveled safe, very punctual and new all the places to go in the Park. You must understand that Amboseli is 99% about elephants, the chance of spotting cats is rare and there are no rhinos. Once in a lifetime experience - we witnessed the birth of a baby elephant. Incredible and speechless. A great day of elephant watching and a big thanks to John. John also arranged a private market tour in Nairobi for me which was unbelievable. My demands of "off the tourist track" were exceeded.
Our driver, John, arrived early and was ready to go as soon as we were. He drove us to amboseli, where we saw many animals up close. We had a few bathroom stops (and he was nice to make extra stops for me since I was a little sick) . We had lunch outside the park and arrived back at our hotel in time for dinner. The guide helped us with the admission tickets and was knowledgeable about the animals. Very kind and helpful and we felt safe with just me and my 16 year old daughter
Valley rock,I proud of you for nice joney, thank you for every animal we seen, I need to go with you all game park in Kenya because I like it, thank you valley rock.
Full price for a tour that was not private and forced to pay for extras not agreed upon in the tour.
Found this group tour (although it says private) quite at last minute and loved it! Our young , smiling, guide Peter was fab. He had lots of funny anecdotes. We started and ended on time. Only regret was that We didn’t see Kili due to the clouds 😔 But ..Overall a fun day out despite the annoying beeping sound from the jeep.
Great overall tour. Lots of animals but no view due to weather. Still great nevertheless less. Long drive and John was awesome getting us there and back despite roadblocks due to demonstrators. It added to the overall experience. Highly recommended tour.
Our trip to Amboseli park with John was wonderful! He is very knowledgeable and a really nice guy. We enjoyed learning about the many different animals we saw. It was the rainy season which we didn’t mind, even more so because John knew the roads and terrain really well which made the trip all the more unique. Asante sana!
The tour guide was very kind and extremely helpful to provide the tour members a unique experience. I would recommend this tour to a friend of mine. Beautiful long views, animals in free life, and starting from Nairobi, you will get lots of impressions during the drive as well.
We had the best trip ever. We had a chance to see many elephant in a family group. Also we had a chance to view Mt Kilimanjaro. I recommend the driver guide and also the company itself since they have the best price ever. Kudos team Valley!!
The safari was splendid,I had a chance to spot literally every animal and the guide was so good at it.I would recommend this company for wonderful safaris
That was an absolutely amazing Safari. My driver and tour guide Julias was a very friendly, helpful and nice person. He could spot the animals in the park from big distance. He also communicated with the other drivers and we could get to the best spots to see the animals. Even though the trip from Nairobi to the park was pretty long, but it was definitely worth! I highly recommend this agency. Thank you for the fantastic experience!!
Peter is one of the most hardworking guides I have ever met. He was super sweet, shared his culture and was up from 4am in the morning to help all the way to almost 10pm at night. During my tour, he got us bananas and made sure we got incredible pictures of the wildlife. He also shared knowledge of wildlife, Kenyan culture, and specific ideas about must-do's in Kenya. He is an absolute incredible guide and he deserves a 10/10, five stars, and you should ask specifically for him. I do reccomend doing the fee for Ambesoli Park before going on the tour. Be sure to ask them about that. You cannot pay at the gate with cash or card. We did not get a free tshirt like the description says, but everything else was awesome.
Amboseli national park was more amazing with background of mount Kilimanjaro, we spotted may animals... lions with cabs, bufaros, giraffe and may more. Ecosystem af the park James was more amazing I recommend it and I wish I had more days to explore at this park Big up James for the good job.
We saw a herd of lions cross the street directly in front of us. It was awesome! Peter was our tour guide and he was so nice. Very knowledgeable and got us to and from the park safely.
