Nairobi National Park Private Half Day Tour With Pick Up

My wife and I booked a private Nairobi National Park safari for October 23, 2026, paying $190 for two people with a scheduled 6:00 AM hotel pickup. Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful morning began with significant organizational failures. Instead of the private transportation specifically included in our booking, we were placed in a shared vehicle that made additional stops to collect other passengers. We were then taken to the East Gate, despite having been instructed by the operator to purchase our park tickets for the Main Gate. We arrived at the park at 6:46 AM, but our private driver was nowhere to be found. I contacted Mo, the tour operator, repeatedly throughout the ordeal. He acknowledged that private transportation had been arranged, assured us another vehicle was coming, and repeatedly apologized for the delays. At one point, a park customer-service representative contacted our missing driver, who hung up when asked for his location. Our private driver finally arrived at approximately 7:55 AM, nearly two hours after our scheduled pickup. We had spent more than an hour waiting outside the park instead of enjoying the early morning wildlife viewing we specifically booked. To be fair, once our private safari finally began, my wife and I genuinely enjoyed the wildlife experience. Nairobi National Park is beautiful, and we were grateful to experience it together. I also initially appreciated Mo's response to our concerns. He acknowledged the failures in writing, accepted responsibility, and agreed that a partial refund was reasonable. After several respectful discussions, Mo personally proposed a $43 refund, which I accepted. He promised to send the payment on Monday, October 26, after receiving his company's payout from Viator. Unfortunately, as of October 28, the refund has not arrived, and my follow-up message has gone unanswered. I have now contacted Booking.com for assistance. What makes this particularly disappointing is that we worked hard to resolve the situation amicably. I accepted a substantially reduced refund because I believed Mo genuinely wanted to make things right. I understand that mistakes happen, especially in tourism. However, a company's willingness to honor its commitments is just as important as the experience it provides. The safari itself was enjoyable, but the transportation arrangements, substantial delays, and unresolved refund have left us disappointed. I hope African Mo Dream Safaris takes this feedback constructively and improves its organization, communication, and follow-through for future guests.
