Just completed a half-day Nairobi Park and Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage tour and the variety of wildlife was amazing: enormous dazzle of zebras cautiously drinking at the lake, three lions slinking past our vehicle as they hunted an impala, a huge crocodile incubating eggs, two white rhinos napping on the side of the road, and so much more. Our guide was happy to provide knowledgeable answers to all of our questions and was amazing at locating wildlife. I absolutely recommend this company.

My family had an amazing safari ride with Kelvin! He was easy to communicate throughout the process. He picked us up promptly on the day of our safari. First animal that we saw was a rhino!! Nairobi National Park is a sanctuary for white and black rhinos. The highlight of the day was visiting Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. The daily feeding time each day is 11:00 AM to noon. Kelvin got us there in plenty of time and guided us to the perfect viewing spot!! We thoroughly enjoyed the feeding and hearing the rescue stories about each elephant. We highly recommend Kelvin and Rustic Nature Tours!!!
Had a great experience with Kelvin. He picked us up early, at our request and made sure we got to the elephant orphanage in time to have a front row of the animals. He was very knowledgeable about the all the animals we saw. We saw all 4 of the big 5 that are present at the national park. We saw black and white rhinos, and a pride of lions. And he also took some amazing pictures that he shared with us later. I highly recommend booking with Kelvin.
We just finished 3 AMAZING days with Kelvin and Rustic Nature Tours!! Kelvin was a wealth of knowledge and so much fun to be with!! He knows ALL the great restaurants and places to visit to get a great visit while in Nairobi! He was also FANTASTIC with our 3 grandsons!! I HIGHLY recommend this tour company!!
Kelvin was great. Very knowledgeable about all the animals. Good driver. Highly recommend Utamandani courtyard restaurant for lunch. Went in May so park wasn't too full. Grasses were high though because of rainy season limiting view of some animals. Great for a half day excursion when in nairobi. Not the same as going for an overnight on serngheti though
Douglas was incredible! Prompt pickup, great, comfortable, perfect vehicle for viewing wildlife. Great knowledge of the animals and a seem knack to find them. We had an incredible day and would highly recommend!
Booking was very smooth, quick feedback and informative (and helpful in customizing to our needs). Kelvin was a great guide, super knowledgeable and very service minded. Pick-up on time, comfortable jeep - in short our strongest recommendations in using Rustic Nature Tours (and ask for Kelvin as your guide)!
We had a fantastic time on our safari with Rustic Nature Tours! We only had one day in Nairobi and the Safari tour of Nairobi National Park covered everything! We saw all the animals we wanted to and even more we didn’t think we would get to see! Our guide was super knowledgeable and was amazing at getting us the best vantage points to see the animals. He was lovely and took great care of us throughout the day. Rustic Nature Tours were incredibly easy to book with, even though we booked fairly last minute. Would definitely recommend for anyone thinking of doing this tour!
Douglas was such an amazing tour guide. He was very informative. I would highly recommend this tour with him. He made the trip memorable.
Highly recommend this tour! Our audience, Douglas, was very knowledgeable and we saw so much in the national park during our drive. Douglas also got us a great spot for the elephant orphanage, which was also a great experience. This tour is also a great option if travelling with young children
Incredible experience start to finish. Kelvin is super friendly and knowledgeable about wildlife. His expert knowledge of the park meant I was able to see a wide variety of wildlife including Zebras, Lions, Rhinos, Hippos and more. The stop at the elephant sanctuary is a must where you can see 15 rescued baby elephants. Highly recommend Kelvin for this tour, he did everything he could to make sure I got some great views and pictures.
Had an amazing experience! We saw lions, rhinos, giraffes, zebras and many more. Kelvin was a very knowledgeable, professional and friendly guide. He told us about all the wildlife and made sure we got the right angles for the best pictures. He also got us to the elephant orphanage in time to get a really good spot at the front. Can’t recommend Rustic Nature Tours enough!
I was very happy with the tour. Our guide Douglas was friendly, knowledgeable, prompt, and very helpful. The tour was even better than I hoped it would be. We saw a wide variety of animals, and ended with 4 lions trying to get a baby rhino away from its mother. (They didn’t succeed!). I highly recommend this tour and our guide, Douglas.
We had such an amazing day! Kelvin was on time, kind and extremely knowledgeable. He did a great job trying to get us the best views of animals across the park. We mentioned that one person in our group was interested in birds and he taught us many new species. It’s hard to think how the day could have been better. Thanks so much, Kelvin!
Wow! What an incredible trip, and most definitely the best safari that my wife and I have ever taken. I don't say this lightly, and we have travelled extensively throughout Africa. Joel is a tremendous guide with extensive knowledge of wildlife. We told him what we'd really like to see and he did everything possible to deliver! We have been trying to see serval cat for so many years, and as soon as we entered Nairobi National Park, one popped up in the dawn grassland and walked towards our vehicle!! A once in a lifetime wildlife experience and an absolute highlight of years of natural encounters. And we had the experience all to ourselves!! We went on to see over 10 rhinos, both black and white, incredible! The amount of mammals Joel managed to locate was unbelievable, varying from slender mongoose, through all the various antelopes one could imagine, to giraffe zebra, hippo, buffalo, you name it, Joel found it! My wife and I are also extremely keen birders, and Joel is most knowledgeable on all species. We were lucky to connect with local rarities and had very close views of black crake. So many raptors too, including black winged kite, brown snake eagle and eastern chanting goshawk! My wife really enjoyed getting close-up shots of purple grenadiers. We were really pleasantly surprised by the duration of the national park part of the tour at over 4 hours, which really allowed us to seek out the most wanted species. It is worth pointing out that Joel is a safe and considerate driver, which on the busy roads of Nairobi is extremely welcome for peace of mind! Following our national park safari, we went to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, and Joel was quick to ensure that we had the ultimate views! What an incredible place to visit, and we highly recommend that everyone does go, and ideally with Joel! We had a welcome tea/coffee stop and finished our tour at Kobe Beads and Leather...another incredible place and we felt privileged to be able to watch the women at work creating such amazing pieces. Joel dropped us back at our accommodation and I only wish we had been aware of him earlier on our holiday as we would have undoubtedly used his skills for other adventures! Indeed, we are already looking at checking out Samburu with him next year! Thanks so much Joel, you are a star! 🌟
I had such a great morning exploring Nairobi National Park and the Elephant Orphanage with Kelvin. I saw so many rhinos, elephants, hippos, giraffes and incredible birds. Kelvin was fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable and made sure I got the best views and photos. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Highly recommend!
Had a wonderful trip to the wildlife park and the elephant orphanage. Calvin managed to locate lions, which I really wanted to see, as well as rhinos and many other iconic animals. At the orphanage he secured a perfect spot among quite a big crowd. He also was very helpful with craft buying. And we had a fascinating conversation and UK/ Kenya politics. I would recommend Calvin very highly indeed.
I approached Nairobie national Park with scepticism given its close proximity to a major city. Within 10 minutes of arriving we had already seen hippos, ostriches, rhinos and a variety of other wildlife. Our driver Kelvin was super passionate about the wildlife and his job as a guide and shared a wealth of information with us. The stark contrast of city vs wilderness was amazing but this national park is truly a hidden gem. By the end of the day we had seen 4 of the big 5. If you have limited time for a prolonged safari then Nairobi national Park will get the job done.
Had the best time with our guide Kelvin, he let us decide what to do and leave whenever we want. Elephant Orphan Sanctuary was an incredible experience and Kelvin made sure we had the best spot to watch them play around. Also at the Giraffe Center we were first row and Kelvin made sure, we had enough food to feed them 😊 Highly recommend!
Magnificent tour. Kelvin was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable and also personable. Highly recommend this tour! We would give 10 stars if we could
Today was an amazing day! I never thought I would have such a close experience at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and giraffe sanctuary. We were thrilled with our guide, Kelvin and would book any experience with him in the future. Thank you again Kelvin for helping me see a bucket list wish come true!
We reserved a private tour through Rustic Nature Tours and Douglas was our guide and driver. We visited Sheldrick and the Nairobi National Oark. Both visits were exceptional. Douglas was able to guide us into Sheldrick for excellent viewing. Then in NNP we had a variety of unique sightings. Our guide Douglas was patient with our photo taking and persevered in making sure we saw Rhinos (our highest priority). Please make sure you request Douglas as a guide for an exceptional experience.
The safari was fantastic!! Douglas was an incredibly attentive and knowledgeable guide. He made sure we saw plenty of animals and guided us in the best spots. We couldn’t find tickets for the elephant orphanage with other tours, but they were able to accommodate us even if we booked last minute the day before. It was a really wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend it. I hope to be able to come back and do a longer tour to other parks.
Joel was a great guide! He was prompt and the day moved seamlessly. He made sure we saw a lion and ensured we had all of the right photos. He was very welcoming. Would recommend him anytime!
Our one-day safari in Nairobi National Park with Kelvin exceeded expectations in all respects. I’d highly recommend this safari to anyone looking for a quick but highly rewarding safari experience in Nairobi.
Where to begin… I had the most incredible morning on safari with Kelvin from Rustic Nature Tours. From the moment he picked me up at 6am, he was warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. I was travelling solo and had assumed we’d be collecting others along the way, but to my surprise, the tour was just for me – a completely private experience! We reached Nairobi National Park just before sunrise, and it was immediately clear that Kelvin was a true professional. He navigated us swiftly to the front of the queue and once inside, his knowledge and passion for wildlife absolutely shone through. I learnt so much throughout the tour – from animal behaviour to conservation efforts – and Kelvin always knew the perfect spot to position the vehicle for the best views and photo opportunities. His instincts and experience meant we often arrived at prime viewing spots before other vehicles, including when we tracked down a pride of lions. He was incredibly patient, never rushed, and made sure we made the most of every moment in the park. Afterwards, Kelvin took me to the elephant sanctuary and once again ensured I was in the best possible spot to see these beautiful animals up close. I didn’t realise the sanctuary only accepted cash (unlike most other places in Nairobi that prefer card), but Kelvin kindly covered my entry fee and later helped me find an ATM to reimburse him. That level of care and thoughtfulness really stood out. This was a truly unforgettable experience – seamless, inspiring, and deeply rewarding. I can’t thank Kelvin and Rustic Nature Tours enough for such a magical day. Highly, highly recommended!
Wow!! I can't even say enough good things about Kelvin and Rustic Nature Tours. I was picked up promptly at my hotel at 6am. We arrived at Nairobi National Park just as the sunrise was starting. Not even 2 minutes in, Kelvin spotted a hard-to-see hyena. Then we found a giraffe and it's baby, followed by hippos, ostriches, rhinos, impala, and crocodiles. Kelvin is so knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and helpful + he can find the animals with ease. Near the end we tracked 2 lionesses for about 35 minutes with them ambling alongside us through the savanna. Breathtaking. If Kelvin hadn't encouraged me to be patient and with his knowledge of what the lions would do, we would have missed it (they were initially just sleeping deep in the grass.) Everything else was great too - elephant rescue, lunch together, etc. etc. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. It was even more than I expected. I'll say it again, wow!!
Our guide Kelvin was great! We saw many more animals than we expected to see on our safari including a cheetah. The park is fabulous. It was a trip I will remember and treasure forever.
This was an awesome tour. Kelvin our tour guide was so informative and kind. We learned a lot and saw lions, lion cubs, black and white rhinos, giraffes and so many more animals. As well as the sun rise. This is can’t miss if you visit Nairobi!
I had a great time on this tour. Kelvin was an amazing guide and knew exactly where to go to find all the animals. He picked us up at 5:45 AM so we could get to the park when it opened at 6:00 AM, and we made it back to our hotel a little after 2:30 PM. I would recommend this tour 100%.
