Enthusiastic guide who knows the city. Sometimes a little difficult to follow the guide’s explanations because of his accent and the hearing impairments of his elderly customers. Enjoyed the tour in spite of “our” problems.

Itinerary
After a brief introductory meeting with your local guide, head off to explore Nairobi! Walking through the streets of Nairobi and travelling by public transport provides plenty of opportunity to mingle with the locals as they go about their daily lives, making this a pretty solid local experience in our books. Your Nairobi walking tour will kick off with a stroll through Uhuru Park, right in the heart of the city, before wandering past the parliament buildings and the mausoleum of the first president of Kenya, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
This Nairobi tour continues with a look at the Kenyatta Conference Centre.
August 7th Memorial Park, which was built to commemorate the bombing of the US Embassy. We'll also give you the opportunity to visit the Kenya National Archives and various other sites within the city centre, based on your interests and our route. Another key local experience is food, so it's no surprise that this Nairobi city tour includes the opportunity to sample local cuisine at lunch at a local restaurant. Eat like a local, chat with locals, see Nairobi like a local...soon you'll pretty much BE a local! (well, not quite, but you know what we're getting at...)

Had an absolutely fantastic full day tour with Mike exploring Nairobi including the Giraffe sanctuary (Mike had great insider tips and told us a lot about each giraffe), lunch at a fantastic spot in the city and a walking tour or historical buildings, markets and viewing points. A party bus was arranged to take us back to the hotel. The conversation and info was fantastic and we felt really safe and engaged the whole time. One of the best city-tour experiences we've had, would 100% recommend to anyone.
Wonderful walking tour showed us many sites. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and very engaging. He led us at an easy pace. Visiting the August 7 memorial was particularly emotional like the US 9-11 tragedy. We highly recommend this tour.
The walking tour of Nairobi was thorough and informative. I got to experience the culture, history and flavors of Nairobi. I recommend it to see the city of Nairobi.
This was the perfect introduction to Kenya and Nairobi. We had a day free before we went on main Intrepid trip around east Africa so this fitted perfectly into our plans. I have travelled with Intrepid lots so I knew it would be quality, safe and an authentic experience. Mike was full of energy, ‘good vibes’, and knowledge - great guy. We went to a range of places in the administration district as well as the public district which was so vibrant and bustling. The tour around the archives/ museum was a bit too long and complex and we asked for a coffee stop so we could sit down in the shade for a bit so a half day tour actually ended at 5pm once we had lunch too. Make room for lunch as it is huge platter. Worth the money and time. I really recommend it.
Six of us had just one day in Nairobi and wanted to view the diversity and life of Nairobi, and Michael certainly gave us thee most amazing day from 9am until we returned to our hotel late afternoon. (Please note we are a group of 60+ years old!) We were buzzing from our Nairobi experience: the wonder of the city and its culture, the noise, the music, food of this busy bustling city . We were traveling with our Photography Group and had very good equipment, Michael was very attentive to our safety, security and well being, amidst the fun and laughter. Thank you Michael you gave us a terrific experience, especially the fantastic Rap and Disco bus. How amazingly creative and colorful are Nairobians. I highly recommend this day tour, and ask for Michael, you will get on so well and have a very memorable day🤩
Michael has a very well run tour encompassing the city of Nairobi would highly recommend
Michael aka city boy tour guide is fantastic.. based out of a few hotels but we stayed at hillpark. He even arrange a city party bus to bring us home (option extra) This man is so friendly I wish he was our main guide for the whole 14 days in Africa
Michael and Derrick with incredible. Worth every penny! An all day experience that ends with a unique surprise.
An Amazing Introduction to Nairobi – Ask for “City Boy” Michael! My husband and I had the most wonderful day exploring Nairobi with Intrepid Tours before heading off on our safari, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to this incredible city. Our guide, Michael — who affectionately calls himself “City Boy” — was absolutely fantastic! His knowledge of Nairobi was exceptional, and his passion and pride for his city really shone through. He was friendly, funny, informative and made the whole day so enjoyable. We learnt so much about Nairobi’s history, culture and everyday life, and Michael was always happy to answer our questions. We saw so much during the tour, including the vibrant markets, museums, historic parts of the city and many of Nairobi’s main attractions. It was wonderful to experience the city from a local’s perspective rather than simply passing through as tourists. The city disco bus was another highlight — so much fun and a great way to see even more of Nairobi. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and had plenty of laughs along the way! Lunch was also fantastic. The restaurant was lovely, the atmosphere was great and the food was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect chance to sit back, relax and enjoy some wonderful Kenyan flavours. This tour gave us such a memorable first taste of Nairobi and really set the scene for the safari that followed. We would highly recommend the Intrepid Nairobi City Tour, especially if you’re visiting Nairobi for the first time. And if you can, ask for Michael — “City Boy”! His knowledge, personality and genuine love for Nairobi made our day very special. We’ll definitely remember our time with him for a long time to come. Thank you, Michael, for showing us your amazing city! 🇰🇪❤️
We are a family of four from Canada and had a great day touring the city with Michael “city boy”. He was enthusiastic, engaging and thoughtful during our tour, frequently checking in with us to answer questions and ensuring that we were close by in crowds. We had originally booked a half day walking tour that included the National archives but he presented us with a full day option that included a matatu bus ride, giraffe experience and bead workshop. Everything went smoothly - we learned a lot about the city and history of Kenya and had tons of fun on the bus and feeding the giraffes.
My tour guide Michael was knowledgeable good energy and fun made the tour quite enjoyable along with a delicious lunch
My guide Michael was amazing extremely knowledgeable and kind. I enjoyed my day.
Excellent tour! Our guide Michael gave us an excellent experience & we highly recommend him via Intrepid. We also organised other tours with Michael & he did everything to make us see the sites we wanted to & have an excellent experience. Thank you.
We had an incredible time on this tour, and our guide, Michael, was beyond amazing! His energy was contagious from start to finish. He showed us sides of Nairobi we never would have explored on our own, including the vibrant matatu culture and the bustling business district. We also visited the giraffe sanctuary and the bead factory—which turned out to be beyond interesting! I honestly wasn't sure what to expect with the bead factory, but I was so pleasantly surprised by how fascinating the whole process was. Michael is exceptionally knowledgeable and went above and beyond for our group—he helped us find ATMs, reliable FOREX bureaus, and great local souvenir shops with fair prices. Most importantly, he made sure everyone felt completely comfortable and safe the entire time, effortlessly managing crowds and street vendors so we could simply enjoy the sights. Experiencing Nairobi through the eyes of such a skilled local guide made all the difference. Highly recommended!
We had an awesome time and Michael took us out of our comfort zone in order to experience the local culture. The morning included the highlights of the city, followed by a walk through the local streets including visiting the large area of textile workers. Michael ensured we were safe at all times and booked us a bus ride on one of the public ‘entertainment’ buses. The loud music, rocking bus and driving around the roundabout 4 times was an experience we will never forget. The visit to the Giraffe centre, although very crowded with tourists, was informative and enjoyable. A wonderful day out! Thank you Michael
A bit of a miscommunication as to where to be picked up from but that was resolved after a short while. Initially thought it would be a half day tour but very happy to do the full day and the price was acceptable. Michael was very knowledgeable and mixed the events to cover cultural, historical and local. The museum was very interesting and the guide was good too. The local bus was something I’d never have considered but it was very memorable (and LOUD) lol The giraffe sanctuary was quite crowded but so great to be that close to them. All in all a once in a lifetime experience ✅
This tour was a great way to see Nairobi safely with a local. There were only three if us on the tour so Michael was able to tailor some of the tour to our interests. I particularly liked seeing the fabric stalls and tailors, the Maasai market and the busy streets of Nairobi with the noise, the people, the food and the colourful buses. Lunch was included which was great. Michael was an amazing host and made sure everyone got what they wanted out of the tour. I also saw Michael at my hotel where he checked to make sure my airpprt transfers were looked after.
We had a fabulous day with Michael(foundly nicknamed Mick 🤣). He was so informative, positive and showed us everything we wanted to see and more! We booked a 2nd tour with him the next day and; again has a fabulous time. Highly recommend Michael! Thanks so much for your time 🌟🫶🏾🎉
Michael took exceptional care of our group of 16 travelers! We got an amazing and detailed overview of Nairobi, visited multiple sights and museums - we did way more in a half day than we would have accomplished in a full day on our own. Michael is incredibly passionate and caring, the best guide you could have!
The tour was about five hours, yet well-paced and balanced i.e. we covered a lot, but it didn't feeled rushed or tiring. Michael is super street smart, so I felt free to enjoy the vibe. He also has a lot of stories about everyday life in Kenya, which set me up well for the rest of my trip :)
Amazing walking tour with Michael. Would highly recommend
Michael gave us a great day out in Nairobi. Told him what we were interested in and what to leave out. He is very charismatic and we had great craic engaging with the locals we met along the way. We felt totally safe and he was very attentive to our needs. You are in good hands with Michael.
Michael was a great guide his passion and knowledge of the city shined through He was attentive and continually watched over us through the diversity and chaos of this vibrant city. He tailored the stops to fit the groups wishes and took us to an amazing Somali restaurant for lunch - included. I would strongly recommend this tour to any one travelling alone and wanting a safe way to experience the real Nairobi. Thanks Michael for a great day 😊
The tour was amazing! A real and in-depth tour of Nairobi, it was much better than I expected! Great guide! The best part was the local bus, I loved it!
We had a great Nairobi City Tour booked directly with Intrepids with Michael as our guide. We would highly recommend the tour and in particular Michael as an amazing, knowledgeable and generally great guide with a great sense of huomour. Even though we have lived in Nairobi we still learned a lot. Thumps up!
Booked with Intrepid. Our guide Michael was really great and gave us a great introduction to the country and the city. We honestly had one of the best days ever and are so greatful. Michael is a really charismatic and lovely man
The combination of city tour including local bus ride and visit to the Giraffe Centre in the afternoon was a really great way to explore Nairobi in one day. All thanks to Michael who made this day such a great experience.
Michael is a great guide. He knows what people want to experience in Nairobi, he is willing to adapt if you are interested in different things and he is super knowledgeable. I appreciate our time spent together.
Not just walking tour and lunch, we also took the party bus and went to feed the giraffes. Michael is THE BEST guide. Knowledgeable and friendly, he helped us with many other adventures in Nairobi, including booking us at the best restaurants and arranging transportation anywhere we wanted to go.
Michael is an amazing guide. He will customize your tour. The pick up and drop off are flexible. He checks in throughout the tour to make sure you’re having fun and your needs are met. The lunch stop was amazingly tasty!
Have always thought the best way to discover a new place is on foot and Nairobi with Michael is no exception. A great day out exploring markets, buildings, history, great snacks and restaurant. P.S. leave space for the Somali restaurant at the end of the day. Delicious food.
Overall it was a good tour. The itinerary could be adjusted in some ways so the day is broken up differently. There were some great aspects, and the busy public area walk was a highlight to do with the local guide.
Michael is the real deal - what an awesome person and an even better tour guide. He has so much knowledge and experience in Nairobi, making me and my dad feel so safe and welcomed by the city. We saw all the important parts and had an amazing meal with him, feeling comfortable and reassured in our every move. Top notch experience in Nairobi with him - couldn't recommend this tour with Michael enough.
I can't recommend Michael and his tour enough! From the get go Michael was very accommodating of my needs and went out of his way to help me sort out anything that I needed help with, even outside of the formal urban tour. He was very approachable and made me feel like a local easily. The tour itself covers essential aspects of Nairobi day to day life as well as key landmarks that you shouldn't really miss if you are visiting. The tour felt organic in the sense that I got to live through the organized chaos that some parts of Nairobi provide, and Michael always made me feel safe while doing so. He is really passionate about his job, and it shows. If you are visiting Nairobi you should do this tour and meet Michael, you won't regret it!
I had a great city tour with Michael. He provided an authentic experience and shared local stories that really brought the city to life. Michael is extremely passionate about his job, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout the tour. His enthusiasm made the experience memorable, and I highly recommend him.
The tour was a great start for my trip in Kenya! My guide, Michael was amazing. Super informative, friendly and helpful. I couldn't hope for a better guide to show me Nairobi.
Michael was an amazing guide! He’s very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. He gives great insight into the history, culture, and people of Nairobi. The tour was a very good mix of important and fun sights, and it went on for about 7 to 8 hours. We went to see quite a few government buildings, a market, a memorial, and more! Michael honestly went above and beyond in his tour, and I would genuinely recommend him to anyone looking to do this tour. My favorite part about the tour was the party/music buses. I was honestly having such a blast. The only times that you have to pay extra is with entrance to one of the buildings, if you get drinks during lunch, if you buy anything from the market, and tipping.
Michael was one of the highlights of my trip to Kenya. He was friendly, accomodating, knowledgeable and I felt like I could switch off my brain and just enjoy. I would seek Michael out if I were to be in Kenya again, he is an asset to intrepid and I wish him all the best that life has to offer. Its always a great thing to see when people are passionate about what they do and this is Michael through and through. Thank you for the tour!
I had a great day out in Nairobi. Michael's passion and knowledge is unbeatable. I saw way more of Nairobi than I expected and really got some local experiences. Thank you so much Michael. I wish you an amazing life 🙏
The Nairobi experience tour was absolutely incredible, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! Michael gave our group the best tour of his amazing city. From start to finish, he went above and beyond to make sure we had the most memorable experience possible. Not only was he knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but he always always kept us safe and feeling completely secure throughout the entire adventure. His guidance, warmth, and genuine passion for Nairobi made the whole experience truly special. I had the best time, and I want to sincerely thank Michale for all the care, effort, and heart he put into making this tour unforgettable. If you’re considering this city tour in Nairobi, make sure you go with Michael, you won’t regret it!
Micheal was the greatest thing to happen to us in Nairobi , the tour was excellent as well as the food, our guide Micheal knew everything about everything. Would highly recommend this experience.
Erick was an incredible tour guide! I had so much fun and learned a lot. He was very caring and even gave helpful advice on other activities to try in Kenya!

Michael has a wealth of knowledge and is such a fun and engaging guide. It’s a fantastic way to experience Nairobi - an eye-opening blend of history, culture, and everyday life that will humble you at times, yet leave you smiling throughout.
I arrived for my tour early and had the pleasure of meeting Michael, who sorted me a custom package across 1.5 days. He was amazing, his knowledge and passion really shone through. He gave me great insights into Kenyan culture and made all of the activities unforgettable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Had a great tour with Michael who is very engaging, knowledgeable and happy to share his local perspective. The tour stops were interesting and the lunch was fantastic. The tour seemed a bit longer than expected with a late lunch, but highly overall highly recommend.
This tour was so so so good. I highly recommend doing it! Michael was superb. He is so knowledgeable about the history and politics of the city, and obviously so passionate. I could have listened to him all day. I felt very safe and looked out for, even travelling by myself. I would recommend just taking snacks and water with you. The lunch is a little bit later and I started to get quite hungry. But the food was well worth the wait! I am also gluten free and the restaurant was very accomodating. A MUST DO while you are in Nairobi.
Great tour with Michael! He was knowledgeable and ensured we were well taken care of. Our only suggestion would be to move lunch up to an earlier time (closer to 12pm or 1pm) during the tour. The tour went a bit longer than advertised which we weren’t prepared for but excellent experience overall. Highly recommend the tour and our guide, Michael.
