David and Daniel were excellent, the tour itself was great. If you like hiking it's a must. We also spotted giraffe, zebra, buffalo and gazelle, which were a surprise 🫢

Itinerary
Drop into the rift valley and arrive at the Mt Longonot national park for your Hike up to the crater. The hike requires medium physical fitness and you will climb through the gulleys that dot the sides of this mountain. You can make some rest stops at the designated places on the trek. You will get to the rim of the crater and look into the awesome crater below. If you have the strength for it, you can go round the rim of the crater.
You will make a scheduled stop at the view point on the side of the escarpment to enjoy the view of the Rift valley floor from a birds eye view. The rift valley system was formed 5 million years ago and the rift runs from the red sea through Ethiopia and Kenya and Tanzania. The rift valley is an active volcanic area and has some of the most interesting features including more than 8 lakes, dormant and active volcanic mountains and hotsprings and geysers like the Olkaria geothermal wells and Lake Bogoria geysers. You can actually see the volcanic Mt Suswa and Mt Longonot from this high place with their evergreen craters and the undulating green rift valley floor. The view from here is just amazing. Make sure to take as many photos from here as you can
12:00pm: - Mt. Longonot –Lake Naivasha Descend from the Longonot mountain for the base at the park headquarters. Relax for some while and take on the drive to Lake Naivasha. 1:00pm: - Lunch at Marina Camp Arrive at Marina camp and enjoy a sumptuous lunch at their restaurant by the lakeside while watching the lakes beauty and the birds flying by. 2:30pm: - Boat Ride in Lake Naivasha Go on an hour boat ride in this wonderful rift valley lake. The boat ride will take you to see the hundreds of birds in this lake including the diving African fish eagle which dives in the water to catch fish without ever missing. You will also go to the hippo pool and see the hippos as they swim and bleat inside the water while opening their mouths to over 180 degrees.

An excellent and highly memorable tour!! The excursion was absolutely worth it and is something everyone should experience and we had never seen before. A special thank you to our driver, Patrick, who was incredibly accommodating and attentive to all our needs. He happily made stops for us along the way to withdraw cash, grab coffee, or take breaks, which made the entire journey relaxed and comfortable. Our guide, Joshua, was fantastic — knowledgeable, attentive, and supportive, he supported us while climbing. He accompanied us to Mount Longonot in a calm and Professional way and made sure that we felt safe and well taken care of throughout the hike. Overall, it was a very well-organized tour! We would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area.
This day hike was very challenging and strenuous, but very rewarding. Next time word of advice to everyone to not book a 6 AM hike and go out the night before lol. My tour guide made sure we got all the way to the top and all the way back down. I didn’t feel rushed during the hike. I would not change this whole experience.
Great experience to hike the mount longonot. Views from crater rim are incredible. The boat ride on lake naivasha was also very nice.
It was such a wonderful one-day trip outside Nairobi. We got picked up on time by Jane, a very experienced driver and tour guide. She is very lovely and took us to the Rift Valley viewpoint and arrived at the Mt. Oloonongot for hiking. We met Steve who walked with us to the summit. Lucky it was such a lovely day, sunny, and we had clear sky. Really enjoyed the scenery of the valley and of course the crater at the top looked spectacular! Walking down was faster, and Jane was already there to wait for us. We also took the Lake Naivasha boat ride tour after. It was a good combination of two activities in the area!
This is not a tough hike, the driver Jane is a steady driver , she knows the short cut way for avoiding bad traffic. We took 4 hours to complete the whole journey but we didn’t complete the whole rim of the crater because we feel the view is about the same .
This was an excellent tour! Our driver Patrick was very punctual, kind, and professional. At Longonot, we had a guide Joshua who was also great - he was very friendly and he helped motivate us to complete the hike around the crater. The actual hike was beautiful and well worth the money! We also did the optional Lake Naivasha trip which was fun as well. Overall this was a great trip that I highly recommend!
My mom and I went to Mt. Longonot and Lake Naivasha, and we had such a a good time! Patrick (our driver) was amazing! He told us so much about about Kenyan history and answered millions of our questions from tribal culture to who to give tips to and the general amount given. His optimistic and friendly attitude made us feel at ease the entire day. At the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, there was a lot of fog in the morning, which unfortunately prevented us from seeing very far. The view was pretty, but we only saw up to Mt. Margaret. Our guide on Mt. Longonot was Joshua, who is also amazing. He was so encouraging and walked at our pace. We talked a lot about the surroundings of Mt. Longonot and about other close by mountains, so the hike was very enjoyable. The crater rim was absolutely beautiful, and we spent a while up there while Joshua showed us 2 more mini craters and gave us a better understanding of how the volcano erupted and what animals are currently inside and outside of the crater. Lake Naivasha was also beautiful, and the boat ride was very relaxing. Our lake tour guide (Nixon) showed us many types of birds, and we also saw hippos, giraffes, water backs and impalas. It seems that throwing a fish into the water and getting an eagle to eat it is popular, and Nixon tried 3 times until the eagles finally noticed the fish. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the hike and boat ride, and the guides made us feel safe while we got to experience the beautiful views and wildlife.
The hike was quite taxing but the experience was incredible & I recommend it. Don't underestimate it though if you haven't been physically active in a while. The route can be pretty challenging. David was an incredible driver & has singlehandedly prevented us from being stuck in standstill traffic that could last hours or even overnight. He even manage to keep to schedule & arrived back at my hotel at the expected end time.
Had a wonderful day at Longonot and then Lake Naivasha! The driver David was friendly and very kind, and went out of his way to make the day a success. The trail guide Moses was local and very knowledgeable and quick to take tons of photos in key spots :) The full rim hike is definitely worth the work; it is absolutely gorgeous. There’s nothing like walking along a trail with a lush prehistoric-feeling crater on one side, and a valley on the other. And we saw tons of hippos and pelicans at Lake Naivasha, the guide had a very keen eye. He even threw a fish to get an eagle to swoop near us.
Seamless organisation. David was professional and it was interesting to discuss with him Mont Longonot & the boat trip on Naivasha lake is a perfect combination for a day out of NBO
We are very satisfied with the trip. Up to the mountain, our guide Jaafar, a young erudite, told us about Kenya, Nairobi, the county's economy, about the mountain/lake, at the same time we admired spectacular landscapes from the car and the climb up the mountain offered us picturesque landscapes including Lake Naivasha, and Jaafar helped us climb the mountain more easily, it seems he knows every path. The lake offered us equally pleasant moments, beautiful flowers, we caught the hippo family coming out of the lake to eat. On the shore of the lake we saw a lot of birds, and on the hills around the lake we saw a lot of gazelles, zebras, and animals that we had not seen in Nairobi National Park. David, the driver drove the car carefully, even in the rain. The operator is reliable, we recommend it with confidence.
Enjoyable and fabulous trip to Mount Longonot, accompanied by one of the best tour guides and driver called David. We recommend anybody to take journeys from this tour operator.
We took a day trip to Mount Longonot and had a fantastic time. We were collected by Harrison (our driver) and David (our guide) at 6am for the drive out to the mountain. They were both engaging and shared info about the area, Kenya, etc on the drive up. On the mountain, David was a great guide. We particularly appreciated that he seemed to be enjoying the hike as much as we were (despite the fact he'd done it a number of times in the past)! We had a great time and we were in very capable hands! The hike took about 4 hours, and had beautiful views. We were back in Nairobi by about 14:00. Would definitely recommend this trip if you are looking to get out of Nairobi for a quick trip into the countryside.
We had an excellent day climbing up Mt. Longonot and taking a boat ride on Lake Navaisha. The hike to the top viewing area of Mt. Longonot is a climb, not a leisurely hike! It is 2 miles to the top. There are amazing views all along and the reward at the top, seeing the inside of the crater, is well worth it. My guide was David and he was very patient with me as we slowly made our way uphill. (Going down took 1/2 the uphill time). We saw interesting vegetation, many birds, and wildlife off in the distance. Our driver was Alex who maneuvered us through traffic adeptly and safely. Driving in Nairobi is not for the faint of heart. Throughout the car ride Alex and David shared stories and facts about Kenya, which was most interesting. I was the only one on today’s excursion and I appreciate the both of them for making me feel safe and welcome.
Amazing day trip with two fantastic guides David and Harrison. Fantastic personalities and an all in all great trip. The Mount Langonot is a hidden gem that I can fully recommend to everyone visiting Kenya. And if you do so, please go with these guys and their your company as they really made my day so special and memorable.
We had a lovely day expertly guided by Harrison. We stopped at a viewpoint of the rift valley as the sun was rising then continued to meet our mountain guide, Stephen, who led us up mount longonot. We passed really close to giraffes on our way down! The walk was more tiring than expected due to the altitude but still a lovely 4hrs to go up, round the crater and round again. (Make sure you take plenty of water) Lunch was a simple buffet and then the boat ride on Lake Naivasha was well worth it to see hippos and loads of other animals and birds on crescent island.
Gorgeous hike to the top of a crater volcano with views of the rift valley and lake Naivasha. Jaffar and Harrison were a great team and everything was organized perfectly. Lots of thoughtful touches. Thank you!
We booked last minute to climb Mt Longonot. The guide was informative and flexible, picking us up at 5 am on our request instead of 7.
This was an amazing experience. Hiking (Mt Longonot), biking (Hell’s Gate), and boating (Lake Naivasha) in a 2-day trip. The driver Festus Kazungu took care of everything and made me feel safe all the time. I highly recommend.
Amazing and efficient day to hike the mountain and see the lake. Great guide who not only answered questions about the area, but also alot about his own country. Great for single travelers who does not want to arrange a car, entry and hiking by them selves. Note that the National Park where the mountain are only let you bring reusable bottles, not single use water bottles.
It was really perfect tour with the guide "Jaffar" and driver "Stephen". the guide was also a delightful travel companion and he is also knowledgeable about "Mount Longonot National Park". After hiking we went to Nivasha lake. It has alot to see like hippoes and a lot on kinds of birds. Thank you Jaffar and Stephen
I had a fantastic time exploring Mount Longonot National Park with Safik as my driver and Joshua as my guide. Joshua’s expertise in the local ecosystem, including the park’s geology and wildlife, was truly impressive. He not only provided invaluable insights but was also a delightful travel companion, introducing me to some hidden gems around the mountain. Safik’s company was equally enjoyable, as he was willing to take time to take me to areas that were not initially part of the day’s itinerary. In sum, it was a highly enjoyable experience with the added flexibility to tailor the programme to the client’s needs.
It’s a good trip for holiday. The guide is friendly. The vehicle is good. Cycling time is not very hard. The only pity thing is that the Gorge is closed because of the flooding.
I had an incredible experience with this tour company. Denis picked me up at my hotel at 6 a.m., and off he drove to Mount Longonot for my hike. Denis was pleasant. He is knowledgeable. The drive was enjoyable as Denis provides you with information about what you can see along the way. As to my hike up to the crater, I was accompanied by Joshua. Another knowledgeable person you want to hike with you. After the hike, Denis took to me to Lake Naivasha. I had one of the best fish lunch there. Then I did the boat tour, and there I met Nick, who navigated the lake with his wealth of knowledge. I was pleased with the 3 gentlemen who were gracious to show me a part of their country. Make sure to request for them if you ever find yourself visiting Nairobi. Thank you, Denis, Joshua, and Nick.
This is a perfect day-trip outing to stretch the legs, see some of the countryside and LOTS of wildlife. My driver, Denish, has lots of local knowledge, drove very calmly/safe, and was nice to spend time with. I also had Joseph as a hiking guide and highly recommend requesting him - really knowledgeable and very pleasant to hike with.
The guide (Douglas) was really friendly and helpful. They picked us up at our hotel and then went directly on tour. On the road, he explained and informed us more about the country and it's tribes. Really interesting and entertaining! He was kind all the time, a really good guide and funny at the same time. We visited and did a circle around Mt. Longonot and a boat cruise with wild animals to see and admire! 🐤😁 The experience was exciting and lovely ! I recommend to everyone who wants to start a sportive morning on the big dormant volcano and a relaxing afternoon by the lake on a boat. For the finish, a nice meal ! Miam.
The tour was great! Our tour guide albert was very friendly and gave us a lot of information. He made sure we were always feeling fine and adapted to our speed. Overall it was a very nice experience and great hike. We can definitely recommend it!
The trips starts early, it might seem like trouble, but it makes the trip great ! You get there first and get the chance to see all the animal life before they leave because of seeing people. The Tourguides made the trip worth it! With great conversations during the commute and a lot of motivation to make it up the mountain! They have extensive knowledge about Kenya and I leary a lot ! Great experience!
Much recommended tour. Great hike, not that hard in terms of views what you get to see during the activity. Amazingly caring and very very intelligent guides, it is great pleasure to discuss any matter with them.
The view from Mt. Longonot was spectacular. Looking down on the opposite side of where we had climbed, we could see numerous cracks in the ground, and we could see that there are many more faults in the Great Rift Valley. I'm glad I came because I was able to see a view that you can't see from ordinary viewpoints. Our guide, Jeffrar, was friendly and talked to us about various things, so I had a great time. It's a bit expensive for one person, so it's best to come with someone else if possible.
