I had a wonderful experience with Lauren! He picked me up from my hotel and took me all the way to Hell Gate Park, explaining everything along the way and sharing so much interesting information. He had everything perfectly organised, including a lovely lunch for me, which made the experience even more special. Lauren was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, thoughtful and friendly. He made me feel comfortable and welcome throughout the entire trip. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended! Thank you, Lauren, for such a lovely day !!!

The whole trip was very well organised by African Beast Tours and Safaris. I booked directly on their webpage. The tour operator sent a driver (Patrick) to my hotel; he was very punctual and did a brilliant job of taking me to and from Hell’s Gate. He was always mindful of my comfort and chose a good restaurant for my lunch break. Access to clean toilets was also provided. At Hells Gate Park, he handed me over to the guide, Peter, and I was allowed to choose a suitable bike. Peter took me to see zebras, giraffes, buffalos and impalas, and he also looked after me very well on the hike through the gorge. I had plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the scenery. As I’m used to cycling every day in Germany, these 16 km were no challenge at all. It’s quite dusty on the roads, but that’s all part of the safari experience, really. This was followed by a boat trip with Dennis over to Crescent Island. Dennis made a few short detours so that I could get a good look at the birds and take photos of them (especially pelicans and fish eagles), and he also stopped at a spot where hippos were bathing. On Crescent Island, Fred was my guide. He accompanied me throughout the whole tour and explained everything there was to see. The giraffes were particularly impressive; I was allowed to get very close to them and take some lovely photos. The island itself is a place to relax and enjoy a leisurely stroll. The schedule for the whole day was very well organised; there was never any pressure or rush. I was picked up from my hotel in Nairobi at 7.00 am and was back by 6.00 pm. It really was a lovely day on safari and I can highly recommend this tour operator.
This was an amazing experience from start to finish. I was picked up from my place and was picked up by David and Lawrence who were my guides for the day and it was amazing. Everything went smoothly and when we got to Hells gate, I totally enjoyed the bike ride with Frederick he was amazing. I had such a great time and a private Bike Ride experience. That was really good. I saw the animals and the views were incredible and I had such a great time and I will never forget this experience that’s for sure so I do highly recommend that you book this experience with this company and that you book with Frederick when you go to get your bike for the Bike Ride. I also recommend getting a an electric bike because it just made the whole biking experience enjoyable. Lake navaisha and crescent island were always amazing.
This was an action packed day and totally worth it. Its so unique compared to the regular safari’s because you get to walk, bike and boat right next to animals! Our guide at Hell’s Gate was Gomez, great guy and very knowledgeable on everything. Highly recommend asking for him when you go. We took our time biking and he went at our pace and always looked out for us. Mr Kamau was our boat driver. Great guy. Nicholas was our crescent island guide. He was super nice and funny, I highly recommend him. He made the experience fun and he knows a lot about animals. Our driver for the day was Stephen. He was really nice and gave us fun facts along the way about the area. Dont miss out on this day trip!
We absolutely loved the tour! It was perfect for our first day, and we got to see so many incredible animals. Nuru, our driver and guide, was amazing. He was with us throughout the whole experience, kept us informed about the schedule, and was always happy to accommodate our requests. He also took us to a delicious place for lunch and was always friendly, helpful, and in a great mood. Thank you so much, Nuru!! We also had a guide who accompanied us on the bike tour, which was exhausting but so much fun, and another guide who took us on the boat tour on Lake Naivasha, which completely exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended! Great experience and very good value for money.
This tour was booked for my first day in Kenya activities. It was absolutely perfect and a grwat way to start a 18 day adventure. African Beast was amazing to work with planning the day. Joash was my driver/guide. He made my day wonderful. The drive thru Rift Valley was unique and beautiful. It is a long drive from Nairobi to Hells Gate, but you get to experience some of authenticate Kenya which I loved. At Hells gate I got a electric bike and had a separate guide for that. Joash organized everything for me and waited at the end. Then we went to lunch at a beautiful restaurant with extremely reasonable prices. Then I went for a boat ride on Lake Naivasha and walking tour on Crescent Island. Seriously amazing experience. The drive home was nice visiting with Joash about the amazing animals and things I did throughout the day. He dropped me off at hotel and the first day in Kenya was perfection! Only recommendation I would share is make sure to bring plenty of tip money for the bike guide, lake Naivasha boat guide and Crescent island guide... and obviously plenty for your assigned driver/guide. Tipping isn't required, but they are all so amazing you will want to be prepared to bless them with a tip.
We really enjoyed our trip to hells gate and cresent island. Our driver, Jane, was fabulous and gave us lots of helpful information. our guides throughout the day (Robert, John, and Paul) we're all very knowledgeable and we found the tours so interesting, I would definitely recommend!
We had an amazing day. Jane was an incredible driver and tour guide. Gave us so much good information about area and slandered our many question on the drive to hells gate She was very thoughtful in helping us order lunch on way to bike ride so we could eat lunch before boat ride and island walk. Sammy was fabulous at Hells gate. He was very patient with us and was so encouraging to me on hike down to gorge. Just so many perfect details to this fun filled day. The guides on boat and on island were also so knowledgeable and patient. They gave us plenty of time to take pictures. And pointed out so many birds and animas My one suggestion is Including bottled water would have been helpful and appreciated. . The day is long, hot, and dirty. I think the price we paid per person was a bit high but I have not checked what the entrance fees for the various places cost. For the amount of money we spent better bikes, snacks, and water should have been included.
All went very well with Joash.
I would totally recommend this your , lots of experiences -Ebike ride to the gorges . The gorges and waterfalls beautiful . We saw many animals. The lunch was delicious , the boat and island walk was relaxing was saw many animals The driver was incredible we felt safe he was so informative, communication was excellent 200/10
Brilliant day full of new experiences, we hired an e bike to ride through the park, the gorges were stunning . Our tour guide was 200/10 , communicated well with pick up details, felt safe with his driving, his knowledge was brilliant , always happy to assist us , we had lots of laughs , a great day
This company used the rift valley road instead of the main highway. Traffic condition was very bad with countless of trucks and dangerous takeover.
A fabulous experience visiting Lake Navisha and crescent island! So much to see and it’s so beautiful. Shout out to our guide Joash who drove us from location to location - he is not only informative, but kind. Plus, he has a great sense of humor!! Don’t hesitate and book it!
Great trip Island walk absolute high light.
I had the best time today. David planned out my full day journey. He arrived to pick me up at the hotel right on time after confirming with me the day before. We drove to Hell's Gate stopping at a scenic overlook with incredible views of the Rift Valley. We then drove to the Elsa entrance of Hell's Gate National Park. Before entering the park we met with a pre-arranged park guide and selected a bicycle small enough for this vertically challenged old lady. The park guide chose a shorter 5 mile ride at my request followed by a hike of about 2 miles. Note: e-bikes are only a $20 upgrade but since I booked last minute, they were sold out. We saw so many animals, all roaming free, and it is amazing. First up was a water buffalo and we ended up seeing a lot of them. We saw gazelle, impala, zebras, wart hogs, wildebeest, ostrich, giraffe, baboons and so many interesting birds. There are rest rooms available. We next stopped for lunch at a beautiful lunch where David pre-ordered my food. After lunch was a short drive to Lake Naivasha where I had a boat tour. There were so many beautiful birds at the lake. My guide on the boat was very interesting and informative. He was able to identify all of the different species we saw and he even spotted a school of hippos on land, grazing in the shade. The boat brought us to Crescent Lake where there is a game sanctuary and like Hell's Gate, the animals roam free, except for an aggressive male ostrich. On the island I saw several giraffes, including a baby and a young juvenile. There were many zebras, gazelle, impalas, waterbuck, wildebeast and elands. There were velvet monkeys where we boarded boat. This tour exceeded all of my expectations. David my guide was great. As a solo female traveler I felt very safe, the car was clean and comfortable. I loved that all of the park fees, bibycle rental fee, boat ride, were included in the tour fees. I can't think of anything I would change. If you have a free day in Nairobi, this is the tour you want to take.
The drive to Hell’s gate was very educational. We saw many small towns where tiny homes and stores were built with corrugated aluminum. We experienced the heavy truck traffic on the road to Uganda. While the traffic was very heavy, David navigated it like a champ. Hell’s gate had some very interesting geological formations, zebras, baboons, gazelles, warthogs, and elands. There was a big rock wall that people were climbing, but that wasn’t our idea of fun. Most people were riding through the park on bicycles but, again, not our thing, so David drove us through. Then we went to Lake Naivasha where we got into a boat and were shown the many, many species of birds living around the lake, along with hippos. Then the boat took us to Crescent Island where we could walk freely among zebras, gazelles, waterbuck, and ostriches, since there are no predatory animals on the island.
Experience was good all were managed by bookings except rock climbing in Hell's Gate and Lunch. Pro Tip: Carry 5 L water with you. Hot water spring, Lion king setup cave and mountain and bicycle ride in Hell's gate will amaze you will be one of the best trip in your life. Driver josh was very good with other guide also amazing.
Enjoyed an amazing one day trip experience. Joash was very professional, helpful, and ensured a safe and pleasant travel throughout the trip.
Hells Gate. Wonderful bike ride and hike. We upgraded to an e bike. Great decision. Losts of wildlife. Great scenery. David was our overall guide. Beyond excellent. He took care of us. He found ways to answer issues to came up due to a national strike. He got us to Crescent Island even when the roads were closed with strikers. We had a wonderful exhausting day. He had Gomez guide myself on the bike ride. He was also excellent. My wife had a medical issue and stayed back with David. They also had fun while I was riding.
A last minute request evolved into an amazing weekend of adventure in Hells Gate and Cresent Island. Patrick and Reagan gave non stop educational tour that was so entertaining. Definitely worth another visit with this group!
Our day trip to Hell’s Gate National Park, Lake Naivasha, and Crescent Island was nothing short of fantastic, thanks to the seamless coordination and expertise of our guides, David and Gomez. The highlights began at Hell’s Gate, where Gomez led us on an incredible bike tour. His deep knowledge of the local wildlife was impressive; he pointed out and shared fascinating facts about hyraxes, warthogs, giraffes, zebras, and gazelles. The hike through the gorge—complete with monkey sightings—was a thrill, and Gomez ensured we felt informed and engaged every step of the way. David was the backbone of our excursion, managing all the logistics and transportation with professional ease. He ensured the transition from our gorge hike to the next leg of the journey was perfectly timed. Lake Naivasha: We enjoyed a beautiful boat ride where we encountered hippos and a stunning variety of birdlife. Crescent Island Sanctuary: The walking safari allowed us to get remarkably close to the animals, providing a unique perspective on Kenya's natural beauty. From the rugged landscapes of the park to the peaceful waters of the lake, this was a perfectly paced and highly educational day. We cannot recommend David and Gomez enough to anyone looking to explore the breathtaking scenery of this region. Thank you both for an awesome experience!
Wonderful trip to Hells Gate and Lake Naivasha with Patrick and Rigan. They were excellent company and extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour.
We had a wonderful experience. We saw a lot of animals and had excellent guides. A special shoutout to Jane. She was amazing. Particularly recommending we ride there and Jane arrange to have our bikes picked up at the end of the ride. It saved us a lot of time and headache. Riding back the way we originally planned would have ruined our visit to Crescent Island. Thank you very much!
We had a fabulous day with Jane! She let us have a later start time as we had attended a wedding the night before. She took us to Hells Gate, organized our bikes, and took care of all our transportation and entry fees for the day. She is funny and great to chat to. She had no reservations about suggesting we only bike the 8kms down to Hells Gate, instead of the 16km round trip which was definitely the right choice and greatly appreciated! She picked us up at the bottom and we drove by lots of sweaty, struggling tourists on the way back up. She took us back to our hotel for lunch, and to crescent island after lunch. Both spots were amazing for wildlife and such a nice way to do some physical activity, while still seeing animals, before our 3 day safari in Masai Mara. We definitely recommend her services!
We used Africa Beast tour company for a full day of hells crater and crescent island. It was an amazing and memorable day and Jane was an amazing driver and guide. She promptly picked us up and kept us smiling throughout the day. Would highly recommend :)
It was a long day, but oh so worth it. It was amazing getting up so close to the wild animals. All the guides were incredibly knowledgeable and informative. I strongly recommend this trip!!! Special shout to Stephen (my driver for the day), Victor at the Hells Gate cycle hire and (Captain) Kevin for the tour around Lake Naivasha - lovely, lovely people. Thank you again, guys! Note for future trip-goers: take water or there are plenty of places to buy it along the way, and prepare yourself for a long day travelling on some pretty bumpy tracks and roads.
What a lovely day. David picked us up promptly at our Hotel in Nairobi and drove us to Lake Naivasha. He was professional, friendly and an excellent driver. He gave us lots of information about the area. (Kenyan roads are like no other you will encounter!!). Our tour guide on Cresant Island was amazing! We learned so much and saw lots of Hippos. The bike ride in Hells Gate was really fun and we saw Zebra and Giraffes. A great day well spent.
Very excellent. Thank you. Bring your umbrella when are you going to boat - it was hot weather! I’m gutted about not bring my umbrella. Good communication
My friend, Isaac.. he was a really good gentleman. I learned lots of things from him to understand about Kenya. Of course, he guided me very well during the trip.
We had a fantastic day at Hells Gate. Isaac and Innocent were excellent guides. The bike ride is great, and you are able to get pretty close to zebras, impala and other animals. If you take the boat trip, you’ll get the chance to see dozens of hippos. Lunch is good. Remember you will have to pay for it separately.
It was a fun-filled and pleasant day-trip. Isaac was professional and warm. He made us feel comfortable, and served as an excellent intermediary with other people who offered services during the trip.
The journey was incredible, like in a moovi with very kind and professional people from top to bottom perfect tour ✨️ I had a chance to see many animals, explore the wildlife, discuss with everyone who was sharing experiences warmly and I felt like so much joy and guided from wonders to wonders all day !!
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It is a 12hour day and physically strenuous but our staff was supportive throughout the experience. I want to especially mention David, Gomez and Grace. They were phenomenal. PLEASE BE AWARE that you will bike 11-12 miles, hike a mile with steep incline to get into the gorge and then have lunch. You will then take a short boat ride followed by a 1hour walk on Crescent Island. Make sure you have the cardio capacity for this activity. Post trip thoughts: You don't need a swimsuit. I wish I had brought more water. They gave me a bottle and I brought a 32oz of my own but it's hot and I needed a little more. I was super excited to be taken to the inspiration for several scenes from Lion King (this should be included in the listing and may make more clients likely to book). We visited echo rock, pride rock and the gorge where samba was chased by the wildebeest. The tour also stops briefly at the rift valley overlook. You can grab coffee and artifacts here as well as take cool pics. Lunch was at Naivasha Resort Lodge: although not included in the price it was a decent lunch. We saw an array of animals and we were educated throughout the experience. If you love nature and physical activity, I HIGHLY recommend this experience. You wont regret it.
A wonderful day and special thanks to lovely driver/guide Jane who was not only great company but also took very good care of me!
Amazing experience and very different to a driving safari. Our guide for two days, David, took us on the long drive to Hells gate national park where we jumped on some bicycles and cruised 5 miles passing zebras and giraffes two name just two! The hike after the cycle was fun and insightful. Then the 5 miles back, be prepared if you are not used to cardio exercise. Fun cruise around lake Naivasha but the icing on the cake was crescent island a walking safari not to be missed. And one of the highlights of our trip to see these animals so close up.
My trip to Hell's gate and the lake was great. It started being collected by my driver Nuru, who is a really nice and fun guy. I got to learn so much about Kenya talking to him on the journey there. He is also a very safe driver which I appreciated. Cycling through the Hell's gate park was really enjoyable, seeing the hyrax up close, the numerous animals close by. It's nice to experience being in a safari environment outside a vehicle - more authentic. My guide Gomez was a great and fun guy, and made the experience very enjoyable. The Lion King sites were very cool to see. Walking the gorge provided great photos. Later the boat trip onto the lake and seeing the island from the movie Out of Africa was very interesting to witness. Overall the day trip was very enjoyable and highly recommended.
Everything was smooth. The tour operators took care of everything and the drivers and guides were really nice! That walking safari is awesome. Highly recommended!
If you're in Kenya you should absolutely do this one!! This whole day was amazing! David and Fedrick were such amazing guides. They are very knowledgeable and passionate about Kenya, the animals, and the park. They also took more than an amazing care of me as a tourist! I really couldn't ask for a better experience. Talk about Kenyan welcome and kindness!👏🙌 I'm already looking forward to booking my next excursion!!🙌 Thank you very much for an AMAZING day!
I definitely recommend visiting hells gate and crescent island. Being that close to nature was really a once in a lifetime experience. Meshack my driver was very nice, he gave me information about Nairobi and Kenyan culture. He also saw I was sleepy in the morning and stopped for coffee! I recommend bringing lots of snacks on this tour because I didn’t eat lunch until 3.30pm. This is because of the heavy rain so I went to crescent island before lunch in case the boats stopped to the island. There was confusion about what was included and I ended up paying $25 out of pocket at hells gate, but the tour company arranged a refund of that extra expense afterwards and were very professional.
Our family of four (parents and two kids) are greatly satisfied to have booked this trip. Jane Kale was our driver and main guide: her peaceful demeanor and insightful explanations made our trip pleasant. We were picked up timely in the morning at the hotel in Nairobi and dropped off safely at the end of the day; the scenery on the two-hour trip from Nairobi to Naivasha was magnificent (vast, expansive landscapes); our guide let us make a few stops on the way to take pictures and get souvenirs. The highlight of our trip was definitely the bike ride in Hell's Gate Park: absolutely beautiful and breathtaking mountains and rocks, and several animals (giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, etc.)! We enjoyed great food at the local restaurant recommended by Jane (do order a mixed grill, you'll enjoy it!). The boat trip was also nice: we got to see the "ugly five" on leaf-bare trees (movie-like scenery), hippos resting (much fun!), as well as giraffes, zebras, and other interesting sights on Crescent Island (I do wish the boats were bigger, but the canoes were safely driven to and back from the island). Overall, it was an unforgettable experience and we are grateful for the beauty of Kenya!
David our driver picked us right on time and also gave lots of information about Kenya on the way. We loved the landscape of Hells gate and had a wondeful hike to gorge with our guide Innocent. Then we had a boat ride in Lake Naivasha and ended our day with walking safari on Crescent Island. We saw Giraffe, Zebra, Hippos and Ostrich. It was a very memorable day and definitely worth the visit.
A really special day out of Nairobi with driver Patrik. We headed to Hell’s Gate and did the cycling trip with Innocent as our guide. He was so knowledgeable and gave us lots of tips on the wildlife and geography. Then onto Naivasha and Crescent Island which was brilliant…highlights included watching a fish eagle swoop for fish. It was a fabulous day … and worth the crazy bonkers traffic and obligatory stop for curios! Patrick is just delightful - you will be safe in his hands
Isaac and Lewenei were both brilliant guides. They were incredibly knowledgeable and kind throughout. We really enjoyed seeing all the wildlife and the cycle through Hell's Gate. Would definitely recommend them
This day tour included the places that I wanted to visit desperately. I was so happy to find out this day tour on their website and the driver 'David' took me to tour sites without any hesitation or confusion. He was very kind and tried to take care about me a lot, which was absolutely thankful for me. I highly recommend that every tourist who visit Kenya should experience this journey which was perfect for adventurous travelers who love both exciting things and peaceful atmosphere.
Got picked up on time by my driver, Nuru. He was very nice and good at explaining where we were at. We stopped at the Great Rift and enjoyed the lookout. From there we headed to hells gate. I decided to take the bike ride. When I got back from the 16 kilometer bike ride, I was able to relaxe abd we headed to lake navisha for my boat ride. After the ride, we enjoyed lunch and talked about the day. I was back at my hotel in a timely manner. I would recommend this company and Nuru as a driver.
This was an incredible tour, in no small part thanks to our amazing guide and driver, David. He picked us up from our hotel and drove us to Hell’s Gate, where we did a breathtaking bike ride and hike through Hell’s Gate. After that, we had a delicious lunch, then a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, followed by a guided walk of Crescent Island with David. It was an amazing way to spend a day. Thank you, David!!
Joash did a great job navigating to get to the Hell’s Gate and Lake Naivasha. They are amazing places to visit- I’ve visited the Nairobi National Park, but there is something so different about being able to bike and get close to those animals rather than behind the glasses and metals in a car. Lake Naivasha is so unique and interesting as well- and I’m not a bird person but learned to appreciate them there! Would come back with my kids when they’re older.
The driver Joash was amazing. He had a save driving style and a happy attitude which made the car rides very nice! All parts of the Tour were very interesting and the tourguides very good. I would especially recommended Crescent Island as we lernt alot there.
Nuru the driver was very accommodating. The bike ride through Hell’s Gate was amazing. The guide was helpful and had excellent background information to support or experience. We had the opportunity to photograph zebras and giraffes from the ground.
I had the most amazing experience visiting Hell’s Gate and Crescent Island! The landscapes were absolutely breathtaking, and being able to walk among the wildlife was truly unforgettable. The combination of adventure, nature, and stunning views made this trip one of the best I’ve ever had. A huge shoutout to David, my guide—he was exceptional! His deep knowledge of the area, wildlife, and history made the experience even more enriching. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also super friendly, patient, and passionate about what he does. David made sure I felt safe and comfortable the entire time while sharing fascinating insights along the way. I highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure, and if you get the chance, make sure to have David as your guide—he’s truly the best! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
