Itinerary
"Home of the African Elephant” Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, the Amboseli National Parks is one of Kenya's most popular parks. The name "Amboseli" comes from a Maasai word meaning "salty dust", and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands. They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

Great and enriching experience- despite being just a day-tour, so much was packed in . Mwose was extremely knowledgeable and offered great views of the key jungle inmates - shame we couldn’t sight the royals. The visit to the Masai village provided invaluable insight to their culture and traditions.
We had an amazing time on the safari seeing elephants and lions up close. Obed is an amazing guide who is super knowledgeable about the animals you see. If you’re going to Amboseli Park you need to go with Obed.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 out of 5 stars) Day Tour to Amboseli National Park and Maasai Village – October 21, 2025 (Booked through Viator) My friends and I recently took the Safari and Maasai Village tour while visiting Kenya. Our day started early at 5 a.m. when our guide, Obed, greeted us with a big smile and genuine enthusiasm, which immediately set a positive tone for the day. The morning was cool, and the van only had one blanket available. Two of my friends shared it while I used my jacket. Our first stop was a local market. A word of advice for future travelers — the prices here are negotiable. You gather items in a basket and then bargain with the seller. This “let’s make a deal” approach wasn’t something we particularly enjoyed, and it would’ve been helpful to know in advance. We also noticed coffee being served and assumed it was part of the tour, but later learned it was $6 USD for a small cup after it had already been prepared. Once we arrived at the Amboseli park gates, Obed suggested putting the $90 park fee on one credit card to make things easier. We preferred to pay individually, and although he mentioned that it would take longer, we opted to do it that way regardless. The safari ride itself was very bumpy — far rougher than we expected. If anyone has back problems or health concerns, this could be an issue. We were excited to see the animals, and while the experience was incredible in many ways, we were disappointed that no lions were seen. Lions were a major selling point in the tour description and one of the main reasons we booked. Obed explained that lions are typically only visible very early in the morning, but that detail was not disclosed in the booking information. It was a big letdown, especially since seeing lions had been a lifelong dream of mine. After the safari, we realized we were never offered the bottled water that was supposed to be included. Next came the Maasai Village visit, which completely turned the day around. This part of the tour was absolutely amazing. The Maasai people were warm, welcoming, and eager to share their traditions and lifestyle. It was the most authentic and memorable part of the entire experience. One helpful note — the Maasai prefer Kenyan shillings over U.S. dollars for any purchases or contributions. Because it was an extremely long day and no meals were provided, we decided to skip the planned market lunch stop and head back toward our hotel. We had to ask for a restroom break along the way, and while we eventually stopped for drinks and snacks, we were surprised that no food or water stops were offered automatically. Overall, this tour was just okay. The Maasai Village experience truly made up for much of the disappointment, but the safari portion didn’t meet expectations. Between the lack of communication, missing amenities, and no lions, I can’t say I’d book this particular tour again. Still, I’m grateful for the cultural connection, the warmth of the Maasai people, and the chance to share such a unique experience with friends.
A perfect day with Safari and Masai Village visit. Highly recommended. Tour guide told every stories during the tour. Thanks for everthing.
We did the tour with Obed and it was amazing! We saw lots of animals, and Obed always stopped the van for as long as we wanted. He was so kind and shared many details about the animals, Kenya, and the local tribes with us. He also took us to a local restaurant where the food was delicious and the people were really friendly. We 100% recommend him! We’ll definitely book with him again and recommend him to all our friends and family.
Moses is exactly the kind of guide you hope to take you on safari. Patient, knowledgeable, having good relationships with the local people you’ll meet on your travels and the ability to make your trip special by showing you small details you might not have noticed on your own, or pointing out wildlife in one place while you were looking in another. He has a great sense of humor, was happy to move at our pace, and was kind enough to pull over in traffic on our way back to the hotel to help me find a snack after a long day, even though we’d already been gone as long as our tour was allowed for. He was awesome to travel with.
The first thing you need to know is Amboseli National Park is a long way from Nairobi, approx 4.5-5 hours drive, so almost 10 hour round trip! We left at 5am and got back at 7pm. Obed, our driver & safari guide was great. The vehicle is comfortable and there was a stop half way. The safari was great! We saw elephants, giraffe, zebra, hippos, gazelle, buffalo, wildebeest, kori bustard bird & a coloured beak stork. Unfortunately missed out on seeing the lions. The tour of the Masai village was interesting. We would recommend this tour.
I spent an exceptional day with Obed, a passionate, friendly and extremely professional guide. Right from the start, he put me at ease with his smile and clear explanations. Amboseli National Park is simply magnificent! The visit to the Maasai village was an authentic and enriching experience. A well-organized day, full of discoveries and human exchanges. I highly recommend this excursion with Obed to anyone looking for a real Kenyan adventure!
Tour guide was awesome and made sure we saw the “big 5” Felt so at ease while he was driving as well. Also stopped along the way for great photo ops of Amboseli and Kilimanjaro.
This was an excellent tour my friends and I had. Obed was great to us and was an excellent tour guide. The lunch was very good and the Masai village tour was the best part for me. Make sure you know that the $60 park entrance isn’t included so be prepared to pay with credit card. The ride is bumpy so bring meds if you get motion sickness.
Our day tour to Amboseli Park was unforgettable! We were picked up at the airport and taken directly to the park, where Obed, our guide, impressed us with his knowledge and friendly demeanor. We saw a stunning variety of animals up close, and I even captured an incredible video of a giraffe among zebras – straight out of National Geographic! The lunch was excellent, and visiting the traditional Maasai village afterward was truly exceptional. Highly recommend this experience!
What an amazing experience it exceeded all my expectations. Obed my tour guide was unbelievable he made sure I saw every animal in the national park. He raced from one end to the other so I wouldn’t miss out. He was so knowledgeable and an absolute gentleman. Make sure you ask for Obed when booking this tour
This tour was great! The tour guide was amazing. We got to see many animals and the food at the buffet was great! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and patient! The only down side is Amboseli is marketed as seeing the Big 5 in some places, but you won’t see the big 5 here. Other than that, it was great! The Maasai tour was BEYOND amazing!!! Everything about that part of the trip was perfect! Comfortable drive, friendly driver, super nice! Book him! He’s great in comparison to some other experiences I’ve heard about!
Great safari experience. Obed did a great job throughout the tour. He’s very knowledgeable about the land and its history. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide.
We had a PHENOMENAL Amboseli National Park Safari & the Massai Village Tour with Obed. He was so knowledgeable and friendly — we will absolutely be taking additional tours with Kenya’s Best Safari Experience when we return to Kenya in the future. We saw so many animals, and Obed did a great job of educating us about Kenya, its culture, and its wildlife, and answering all of the questions we had along the way. He found all the best spots in the park, and we saw hundreds of zebras & wildebeest, tons of elephants & hippos, birds, crocodiles, and more. The buffet lunch at the lodge that was included in the package we got was UNMATCHED. The food quality and flavor was amazing. There was a good variety of items and it was just what we needed at the halfway point of our day. We enjoyed the Maasai Village tour and learning about their customs, diet, healthcare, and schools. They had a huge variety of crafts available for purchase so bring cash (dollars or Ksh). At the end of the day, Obed navigated us safely back to our AirBNB despite multiple road closures on the day of our safari. 🙌🏻 Asante sana Obed! 🇰🇪
Obed was amazing! He picked us up at our hotel and he made the entire day an incredible experience. We had the opportunity to see almost every animal we had come to see, and all in nearly the same place! Zebras, elephants, giraffes, wildebeest, birds, monkeys, hyenas, and even 7 lions on a kill!! The lunch was at a nearby lodge. The lodge itself was beautiful! Then we met Erick, the Maasai chief's son at the lodge. We talked for a little while and then we headed to the village. What a memorable experience that was- being prayed over, welcomed, danced with, and taught about their village and way of living... WOW!! After our tour was a long trip back, but Obed made the drive super relaxing, allowing us to get a nap even. He also was so entertaining and funny, and helped to continue to teach us about the animals and Maasai people. It was such a fun experience and one that I will remember for the rest of my life. I plan to have Obed help with future trips when I visit Kenya. 🥰
A fantastic tour!!! Obed is one of the best tour guides I ever met in my life and might be really the best. Very accommodating and kind. He went way beyond what could even be expected. We got to see Kilimanjaro with its top which was my dream. Tons of animals and birds. His van is comfortable with a convenient roof for safari, very clean, and well-equipped, with great WiFi which was needed, blankets, water. He is also a great driver!! We did a Nairobi city tour with this company as well and were so happy with it, too!
My guide'Steve is very very kind. And I enjoyed Amboseri park. Lunch is very nice and delicious. I saw Mt.kilimanjaro clearly and many many elefantes. ナイロビ国立公園には象がいないのですがアンボセリ国立公園にはたくさんいました。象が見たい方はぜひ、アンボセリ国立公園へ!
Obed was great. Would definatly recommend him. Give him 5 stars. Saw Elephants were the main reason i went and he didnt dissapoint. Saw several families from different distances but he kept searching till we saw one close by. Also saw flamingos, cheetah, Big hippo right by the road, baboon, monkey, gnu, antelope, gazelle, zebra, giraffe and many different birds. The lunch was nice too. Thanks for a good day out.
I was traveling by myself for only one day tour and Hubert welcomed me kindly. Amboseli is the National Park in Kenya you don't want to miss. The iconic mountain with savvanah landscapes and all kinds of wild animals you can see close or far is definitely worth of the drive. Within about two and a half hour of game drive, I saw more than the big 5, lots of elephants, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, wildbeests, flamingos, monkeys,....everything but lions/predators. Caution that it's dusty during safaris, wearing a mask would protect your lungs. The lunch was in a wonderful resort and greatly appreciated to be included in the tour. Afternoon is welcomed by the Masai Village with indigenous knowledge and traditional living with nature. Highly recommend to bring sufficient cash and support the Village to afford them sending their children to schools. Hubert is super knowledgeable, responsive, and professional; so is the vehicle. Highly recommend this tour.
The pick up was right on time. The drive to the destination was smooth and enjoyable. I got exclusive locations at the camp to view and capture a wide range of animals from birds to Buffalos, Elephants, Hyenas, Hippos, Giraffes. The snack came in handy before I went to the viewing point. I enjoyed every bite of the delicious lunch from the appetizer to dessert. My trip to the Maasai village was educative and I enjoyed their traditional dance and special prayers. Overall, i give this trip an 11/10 and I recommend everyone to book and enjoy the same experience.
I had an amazing safari experience in Anseborg National Park in Kenya. It was the best safari game for guides looking for points to observe animals. He was concerned about my health, and after lunch, he drove me to his hotel in a hurry.
