Itinerary
Day 1
1
You will have a morning departure from Nairobi, preferably around 8:00 AM, to make the most of the day in Tsavo West National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch and an optional afternoon or evening game drive. Tsavo West is the most visited section in the Tsavo National Park, offering many attractions apart from its wildlife. The foremost is the famous Mzima Springs, where up to 227.3 million liters of cool, crystal-clear water flows out of the ground through porous volcanic rocks. The water is believed to originate from Chyulu Hills via an underground river. Here you will also meet the vast red-dust elephants, among other wildlife species such as lions, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 2
2
After breakfast, we will have a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. One noteworthy place we will visit today is Roaring Rocks, which gets its name from the sound of the lions roaring when they are in the area. The views over Tsavo from the top of the 98m rock face are beautiful. You can expect similar views from Poacher's Lookout, a hill in the center of the park. You can also visit (and climb) the Chaimu Crater Viewpoint, a volcano less than 200 years old and composed of black coke. This area is an excellent place to look out for klipspringer, a small antelope that is as agile as its Swahili name refers to mbuzi mawe, or mountain goat. In the southwest corner of Tsavo West National Park is Lake Jipe, which has the Kenyan-Tanzanian border running through it. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 3
3
We will get an early morning game drive following a delicious breakfast and drive to Amboseli National Park. You will go on an afternoon game drive after checking in at your accommodation and eating lunch. Amboseli National Park is situated south of Nairobi. Most of the park consists of a dry, ancient lake bed and fragile grassland with patches of acacia woodland. However, in the southern area, there are several small, rocky, volcanic hills. Around the Ol Okenya, Ol Tukai, and Enkongo Narok swamps, the vegetation is lush with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 4
4
Rise early for good views of the scenic Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit. Despite its changing habitat, Amboseli National Park is the best wildlife area in Africa to experience elephants at close range. Elephants feeding and bathing in the swamps form the highlights of any safari! We can plan an optional visit to a Maasai village after breakfast. You will see the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 5
5
In the early morning, you will drive to Lake Naivasha, the highest and the most beautiful Rift Valley lake. Located at 1910m (6200ft), the water is fresh and fringed with dense clumps of papyrus (ancient Egyptians once used this to make paper). Kingfishers use the papyrus as a perch, and herons hide in it while searching for food. Lake Naivasha is another area famous for bird watching (over 400 species have been recorded). It is also a favorite weekend retreat for Nairobi residents, who come here to sail, water ski, and fish. There are no crocodiles in the lake as the water is too cold for them (due to the altitude), but there are several hippos. Along the lakeshore, vineyards produce grapes for the country's fledgling wine industry. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the resort.
Day 6
6
Across the equator, southwards of Bogoria, lies the Great Rift Valley and the famous Lake Nakuru National Park. The park is known worldwide for its flamboyance of flamingoes and its alkaline lake; it is also recognized as one of the world's natural wonders. It is also a rhino sanctuary, harboring a population of over 40 black and over 60 white rhinos. The flamingoes, of course, have always been the main attraction. At times, almost two million of them may be in residence, forming a stunningly beautiful deep pink band around the edge of the lakeshore. You will arrive here in time for lunch and then go on an afternoon game drive. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 7
7
Today you will go on an early morning game drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. This reserve is one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed in the numbers that were once common across all the plains and forests of Africa. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and predators. You will arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 8
8
After breakfast, we have a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve—lunch will be a picnic. The reserve is well known for its black-maned lions and abundant wildlife. This is one of the few places where it is possible to see the Big Five during a morning game drive. Many cheetahs are so tame they seek shelter from the hot sun under vehicles. Several even climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey! For bird enthusiasts, there are almost 500 species have been recorded here. Among these include 16 species of eagle, many hawks and falcons, six species of vultures, eight species of storks, four species of bustard (including the kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird), and nine species of sunbirds. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at a campsite or lodge.
Day 9
9
Have an early morning sunrise game drive before you head back to the camp for breakfast. Check out, take your trip back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch en-route. You will be dropped off at your city hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. End of your tour.

Just had a wonderful 9 day safari + beach trip. I worked with Janet from Apodiformes for about 9 months from when we booked our trip to when we traveled. She was communicative and helpful at every step of the way. We had issues with two lodges on our itinerary that were unable to honor our original reservations and she worked with us and the lodges on other equivalent options very quickly. Our guide Isaiah was then the star of the show during the safari. He was both knowledgeable and kind, getting us great views of the Big 5 and sharing good info on the animals. Whenever we wanted to linger a bit longer or stop to get pictures he was happy to oblige. We spent lots of time in the car over the 6 days we were on safari and traveling to different parks and enjoyed it all - even the "African massages" from the bumpy roads. Would recommend the company and Isaiah to those interested in safari. Will leave each of the lodges separate reviews on their pages but would say be sure to get Ol Tukai in Amboseli on your itinerary if you can!
It was a wonderful experience that we will doit again. For me it was to short but next time I would make it better.
Our safari with Apodiformes Adventures was absolutely amazing and exceeded all our expectations. Syprose was incredibly helpful before the trip and did a wonderful job organizing everything for our honeymoon. She made sure the safari matched what we were looking for, which made the whole experience feel very personal. Sebastian was an outstanding guide and was one of the highlights of the trip. His knowledge of the animals was impressive, but what really stood out was his ability to find them! He somehow spotted animals we would never have noticed ourselves and made sure we got to see everything we had hoped for. His explanations were detailed, interesting, and made every sighting even more special. We came away with so many amazing memories from this trip. Thank you to Syprose, Sebastian, and the Apodiformes Adventures team for making our honeymoon safari such a wonderful experience!
Our safari with Apodiformes Adventures was truly an unforgettable experience, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our honeymoon. From the very beginning, Syprose from the office was incredibly helpful and attentive, taking the time to understand what we wanted and tailoring the entire experience perfectly to us. Our guide, Sebastian, was absolutely outstanding. His knowledge, patience, and incredible ability to spot wildlife made every day special. He somehow managed to find all the animals we were hoping to see, and his detailed explanations gave us a much deeper appreciation for the wildlife and the environment around us. Everything was beautifully organised, personal, and stress-free. We felt incredibly well looked after from start to finish. We highly recommend Apodiformes Adventures to anyone looking for a truly special safari experience — especially for such an important occasion as a honeymoon!
Our recent safari in Kenya was absolutely unforgettable, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The entire experience was seamless from start to finish. A huge shoutout to our guide, Sebastian, who was the absolute star of the trip. He is incredibly experienced and has an almost supernatural ability to spot wildlife. Beyond his knowledge, he was incredibly accommodating, making sure we were comfortable and getting the best views at every stop. The accommodation exceeded our expectations—clean, comfortable, and perfectly located to make the most of the wilderness. I also want to mention the Silas, the organiser, who replied to every message with impressive speed and made the booking process stress-free. We had a wonderful time and have come home with memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you!
We enjoyed working with Apodiformes Adventures from day 1. Janet helped us with all bookings, making arrangements for any custom requests and making recommendations. Our guide and Driver Songe was very accomodating of any last minute requests and was always present few minutes ahead of planned departure time. He is resourceful and knowledgeble of all the National parks that we visited. I will give him full credit for locating different animals. Overall we are very satisfied with the whole experience.
We had an incredible trip to Kenya, and we can't thank APODIFORMES ADVENTURES enough for organizing such a memorable experience. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, and the hotels they selected were outstanding. Each one was comfortable, well-located, and offered excellent service, making our stay relaxing and enjoyable throughout the trip. A special thank you goes to our driver and guide, Isaiah, who truly made our safari unforgettable. He was always polite, friendly, and genuinely caring, making sure all of our needs were met every step of the way. His knowledge, patience, and dedication ensured we had the best possible wildlife sightings, and he always went the extra mile to position us for amazing views of the animals. His passion for what he does really made the experience even more special. We would highly recommend this travel agency to anyone planning a trip to Kenya. From the excellent accommodation to the exceptional guiding, everything exceeded our expectations. Thank you for giving us memories that will last a lifetime!
Very beautiful and unforgettable experience. Easy, fluent and quick communication with the kind staff during booking and planning. Flexibility to adjust the planning from the initial proposals based on personal needs, desires and attitudes (eg. itinerary, days). Very comfortable accomodations (eg. location, food, staff) as well as clean and spacious vehicle. Very strong guide during the trip, punctual, respectful of environment and animals, competent and passionate.
We traveled with Apodiformes Adventures for a 9-day safari from September 15–23, covering Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli, and Diani Beach. While the landscapes and wildlife were breathtaking, and our driver Sebastian was outstanding, the overall experience was marred by poor communication and unexpected challenges. Pros: Sebastian, our driver, was the highlight of the trip—professional, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. Masai Mara and Amboseli offered unforgettable safari experiences. Ol Tukai Lodge and Diani Sea Resort were excellent accommodations, providing comfort and a much-needed sense of relaxation. Cons: Communication was inconsistent and often unclear. From visa guidance to tipping expectations and baggage policies, we were left to figure out many things on our own. Health accommodations were lacking. One of our guests, undergoing cancer treatment, did not receive the support we expected despite notifying the agency in advance. Unexpected costs added significant financial strain. While some reimbursements were made, they were partial and required persistent follow-up. Arrival and transfer logistics were confusing, especially at train stations and airports, which added stress to the journey. When we raised concerns, the agency responded but often defensively. While they acknowledged some issues and promised improvements, the tone of the replies made us feel unheard and unsupported. Final Thoughts: Apodiformes Adventures has potential, and parts of the trip were truly special. However, for future travelers, especially those with health needs or tight budgets, clearer communication and better planning are essential. We hope our feedback helps improve the experience for others.
Avoid. The sales person planned more activities than the guide was willing to deliver. Guide skipped first day’s safari without any communication. Despite this, we gave generous tips for the first 4 days. To avoid the same issue on day 5, we asked explicitly to fulfill the itinerary. The guide decided to respond with passive aggressiveness and didn’t speak at all for the rest of the journey - extremely unprofessional and rude. Last 3 days effectively ruined, half of the group not willing to participate the safari any more and preferred to stay at the hotel. Avoid unless if you want office politics during your holiday…
The 9-day “luxury” Kenya safari was extremely disappointing, and I believe a partial refund is warranted. There was nothing luxurious about this tour. We were provided an old, broken-down vehicle (windows would not close, and it broke down multiple times), and the guides offered minimal service—poor communication, distracted by cell phones during game drives, and little effort in spotting animals. The advertised itinerary was misleading. Instead of morning and evening safaris as promised, nearly half the trip was spent driving long distances between hotels. On the very first day, we wasted 3.5 hours in Nairobi while the guides ran errands to outfit the vehicle—something that should have been done before picking us up. While a few hotels were excellent, others were not up to standard. To be fair, the hotel staff everywhere were warm and welcoming, and we did manage to see incredible wildlife. However, the overall experience fell far short of what was promised, and I could not recommend this company to others.
Me and my wife booked this safari for our honeymoon. It was all we could have imagined and more. Apodiformes adventures were very helpful in n the lead up and during the safari. I wanted to say a special thank you to our amazing safari guide Sebastian. He was the nicest guy, very knowledgable and really showed us the beauty of Kenya. Without him it wouldn’t have been the same. So thank you Sebastian. We have 1000s of photographs from this amazing trip. Please feel free to follow our Instagram page @kmphotojourney for the insights to this magical safari and message if you have any questions as I cannot recommend this safari enough.
Our recent trip to Kenya was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, thanks to Silas and Dickson. I am grateful to Silas for accommodating a requested date change for the Safari, when an unexpected family emergency arose. His professionalism and flexibility was greatly appreciated. Thank you! Dickson was an outstanding Safari guided and spotted the big 5, as well as other significant wildlife. He was very knowledgeable about the animals and shared fascinating facts about each one. The accommodations on the trip were fantastic, with each lodge having its own unique history. The meals were delicious and I looked forward to experiencing new dishes from Kenya each day. We were very impressed with our Apidiformes Adventure and would recommend booking a Safari trip with them.
I highly recommend Apodiformes Tour Operator, who organized our unforgettable luxury safari adventure. We spent 10 incredible days exploring Masai Mara, Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, and Lake Naivasha. From the very start, Frederick was extremely responsive, patiently answering all our questions and seamlessly handling all the bookings. He also ensured our specific requests were met—including arranging for our amazing safari guide and driver, Dickson. Dickson was exceptional—courteous, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. Thanks to his expertise, we not only saw the Big 5, but also the Big 9 and the Ugly 5. His deep understanding of Kenya’s wildlife, parks, and even plant life made each day educational and engaging. He truly enhanced our experience and made our time in Kenya both memorable and enjoyable. Every lodge that Frederick selected was beautiful, with warm and welcoming staff who made us feel right at home. This truly was a trip of a lifetime, and we’ve returned with countless unforgettable memories. I wholeheartedly recommend Apodiformes to anyone planning a safari in Kenya!
Unbelievable experience in Tsavo West and Amboseli. Thanks to Fredrick for booking great accommodations. But who really made it unforgettable was our guide Joe. He took so much time and care to ensure we felt included in the experience, were seeing everything we could ever dream of, and that we were comfortable and cared for. He went above and beyond, and was so knowledgeable of the landscape and animals. Not to mention he had us laughing the whole time! So important when spending that much time with someone you’ve just met! 100/10 would recommend requesting Joe for your next safari!
Fredrick and especially our guide, Tom provided my wife and me an unforgettable honeymoon experience. Fredrick was available around the clock, putting together an incredible itinerary and selecting lodges that matched the destinations we wanted to explore. Tom was a true professional throughout our journey, ensuring every moment was enjoyable and seamless. After 6 days with Tom, he felt like family and could not have asked for a better guide and person to navigate our adventure. While I had some initial concerns due to a few negative reviews, I can confidently say that Fredrick and Tom exceeded our expectations and delivered on every promise. Thank you, Fredrick and Tom, for an amazing Kenya safari—truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
I recommend 100%. My guide was Sebastian and he was very profesional, he knew a lot about animals and everything. I just had to relax and let him guide me.
Thanks to Apodiformes and our guide, Dickson, we had an incredible time. Dickson was sensitive to all of our concerns, questions, and desires. He anticipated our needs and was both personal and professional. We always felt safe and well cared for. He was also an expert at finding animals for us to see and photograph. Our hotels were first-rate, the service was terrific, and the flexibility of the private safari made the trip very enjoyable. We saw a diverse and multitude of animals, including both the big and ugly five. We cannot recommend Apodiformes enough. This was the trip of a lifetime!
Amazing experience with APODIFORME ADVENTURES. We could ask for a better program and the driver Kevin was excellent. If we come back to Kenya, we will definitely choose APODIFORME.
We contacted Sailas way back in 2021, and he provided us with a very good package. However, we decided to keep that on hold and go to Egypt as our son was just 2 years old then! We contacted him again in 2023 November...he had saved our number and immediately answered us with our names! This time we requested him to give us a package not for 3 but for 8 ..our whole family! A dream vacation! We kept on bothering sailas to give us a good budget along with a wonderful experience. He changed the iternary as per our requests and preferences. We landed in Nairobi admist political demonstration. Sailas ensured that we were safe and introduced us to our tour operator, which changed our expectations and experiences. We met Gibson odeyo. Our superstar. Friendly, positive , funny, and very hard working. Gibson took care of my parents, who are senior citizens, just like his own. Gibson went out of the way multiple times to ensure we get to see the big five. He drove for hours without being tired. My son, who is 5 years old, was having fun too! We used to tell him 'Gibson we want to see a rihno'. He would try his best to ensure we see the one! Gibson ensured we got rooms closer to the dining area as my parents can't walk long distances. Gibson ensured we were relaxed and happy! Our luggages were take care off and while we had breakfast, our bags were already loaded in the car. I and my whole family are satisfied with sailas and his ream and especially Gibson.... Please ask for him and have a relaxed tour in kenya! We stayed in sentrim stavo, elimentaita, nakuru and mara all the sentriuns were neat and clean. As Gibson said,' There is a problem ... that there is NO PROBLEM'.
Our recent trip with Apodiformes Adventures was truly unforgettable. Their itinerary was perfectly planned, leading us to our dream hotel and providing just the right mix of adventure and relaxation. They responded quickly to our inquiries and made sure all our needs were met efficiently. A major highlight was our guide, Sebastian. His sharp eyes could spot distant or hidden wildlife, making every safari thrilling. He was gentle, knowledgeable, and answered all our questions, teaching us a lot about Africa. Even on days with long transfers, Sebastian's planning ensured we always had a safari, making each day exciting. The trip was filled with many memorable moments. Although we didn't see a cheetah this time, the amazing experiences and knowledge we gained have only fueled our desire to return to Africa.
Just finished my Safari journey and returned to Shanghai. Reflecting on my 9-day trip in Kenya, I feel a deep sense of longing and gratitude. Fredrick’s efficient coordination and prompt adjustments were amazing. He was enthusiastic and always responded to my questions timely and in detail. Additionally, he helped ensure Sebastian as our guide, which was one of the reasons I chose Apodiformes Adventures. Special thanks to Sebastian, the best guide ever. He was everything I hoped for—experienced, nice, patient, and responsible. His extensive knowledge of the animals and interesting insights into their habits taught me a lot. Sebastian’s well-planned daily itineraries made each day of my Safari wonderful. On the day 7, we saw all of the Big Fives and saw very closely with lions, including the male. This was my first Safari trip, and I hope to explore more in the future and see my favorite animal, the cheetah. Many thanks to Sebastian.
Our 9-day, 8-night safari trip was a very enjoyable and unforgettable journey. When booking the trip, Fredrick responded quickly and warmly, adjusting and communicating promptly based on our needs and questions. Our guide was Sebastian, and I have to say, he was the key to our perfect experience. His driving skills were superb, fast, and steady throughout. Communication with him was comfortable, and he had a great personality. Each day’s itinerary was comfortable and personalized. On the first morning of our safari in Tsavo, we saw many lions, which was especially thrilling. Whenever we received information, the immediate rush to the spot was exciting. On the morning of the hot air balloon safari, Sebastian picked us up directly at the bush breakfast location, which was very thoughtful and saved a lot of time. This travel experience was perfect, and we were reluctant to part ways. Looking forward to meeting again next time!
Silas lies and cheats. Never follows the agreements in the contract. Hotels were horrible and not the ones we agreed upon. Safaris were always shortened for one reason or another. Silas is a bad news. Don’t believe all those positive reviews, we unfortunately did.
We had the safari adventure of a lifetime, 4 wonderful game reserves in 8 days. Michael our guide was brilliant driving us comfortably in some challenging conditions on roads and tracks around Kenya. He was very skilled at finding the best wildlife photo opportunities and was always planning ahead to avoid any overcrowded areas of the parks The accommodations and guest services and meals where all absolutely perfect for us the people who worked in all aspects extremely welcoming and helpful The wildlife viewing was super. !! I highly recommend Silas organization skills and Michael’s guidance brilliant !!
Very memorable journey. Fredrick is a good travel planner and always responds to our messages promptly. Our driver Wycliffe is a very good guide, attentive and experienced and easy to communicate. We would recommend it to our friends! We will choose again if we come again!
