Amboseli Was Such a Vibe! ❤️ Amboseli was an absolutely amazing experience! From the breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro to seeing elephants up close, every moment was unforgettable. The scenery was beautiful, the atmosphere was incredible, and the memories were priceless. A huge thank you to our amazing tour driver-guide, Ben, for making the trip so enjoyable. His knowledge, hospitality, and great energy made the entire adventure even more special. Special thanks to Pappa Johns for making this wonderful experience possible. Everything came together beautifully, and Amboseli truly exceeded my expectations. The elephants were busy doing their thing, Kilimanjaro was showing off, and I was busy posing like I owned the park! It was a perfect mix of adventure, laughter, and unforgettable moments. If you're planning a Kenyan safari, Amboseli is definitely worth visiting. I would do this trip all over again without hesitation. Thank you, Pappa Johns, and a special shout-out to Ben for the fantastic experience. You made this adventure one to remember! Amboseli, you stole my heart. ❤️

Itinerary
Day 1
1
Today, you will be picked up from the airport or your accommodation in Nairobi by our company representative. After a brief introductory session, you will be handed over to your driver-guide to begin your safari towards Amboseli National Park. You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. After lunch, you can enjoy the camp's facilities and activities before embarking on your first afternoon game drive, returning to your lodge or hotel at sunset. Amboseli National Park is renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world and the highest peak in Africa at 5,895 meters. The park is also an elephant paradise, where large populations of African savanna elephants roam from swamp to swamp, grazing throughout the day. The observation hill provides stunning views of the mountain peak and the park’s plains and swamps. The varied wildlife in the park includes giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, wildebeest, buffalo, and many more.
Day 2
2
Leave the camp after breakfast, carrying your packed lunch to enjoy in the wild. Spend the whole day exploring the marshlands and swamps of Amboseli, which are fed by subterranean water channels. Water is abundant throughout the year, as is the pasture. Elephants and various other herbivores can be found here. After a long day of exploration in this 392 km² park, you will return to the lodge late in the afternoon. Alternatively, you can start the day with an early morning game drive to search for animals when they are most active. Then return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast and lunch. During the hottest part of the day, take some time to relax in camp. You can read your favorite book, write in your journal about the safari, or listen to your favorite music while observing the birds. Don’t worry; the animals will be resting too! In the afternoon, head out again at 16:00 for another drive through the park. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
3
After enjoying an early breakfast, you will depart from Amboseli National Park and drive towards Nairobi. Along the way, there will be a stop at the renowned Carnivore Restaurant or Tamarind for lunch. Next, you will visit the spectacular Great Rift Valley viewpoint, where you can stretch your legs and capture photos of the contrasting landscapes, including Mount Longonot and Mount Suswa. Following this, you will continue on to the Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort (or a similar venue). In the afternoon, you have the option to take a boat ride, offering a refreshing experience as you explore the diverse birdlife and wildlife around the lake. Alternatively, you can choose to relax by the poolside in preparation for a busy day filled with outdoor activities the following day. Please note that the activities mentioned above are not included in the price and are optional. Payment for these activities should be made directly to the suppliers.
Day 4
4
Get ready for a day filled with outdoor activities! After breakfast, pack your belongings and head to a nearby animal sanctuary for a walking safari. Alternatively, you can visit Crescent Island, where the animals are less wary of humans, allowing you to take pictures up close. After exploring the sanctuary, drive to Hell's Gate National Park (Optional). You can choose to cycle, walk, or drive through the park, as it is one of the few national parks that permit these activities. Following this adventure, enjoy lunch before setting off for Lake Nakuru. You will arrive in the late afternoon and have a game drive on your way to your lodge, which is located within the park.
Day 5
5
After having breakfast, you will begin your first early morning game drive. Despite the early start, morning game drives are incredibly rewarding, as you can spot animals when they are most active. Lake Nakuru is home to flamingos, black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, buffalo, and the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. The southern end of the lake is the best place to observe wildlife. Following the game drive, you will exit the park and return to the lodge for lunch (you can choose to carry picnic lunch boxes if you prefer). After lunch, you will drive through the Rift Valley floor to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by Maasai warriors who will escort you on a cultural walking safari, including a visit to a Maasai village to learn more about the community that has coexisted with the Mara wildlife for centuries. You will return later in the day.
Day 6
6
Spend a full day game viewing in the renowned "Eighth Wonder of the Animal World," the Masai Mara. This area is famous for its large herds of plains game, including leopards, cheetahs, and lions, as well as numerous elephants and nearly every other type of wildlife found in Kenya. You will embark on a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve. For lunch, enjoy a picnic lunch under a flat-top acacia tree in the savannah while watching animals graze nearby. Afterward, continue your game viewing on the way back to your camp, arriving in the late afternoon after thoroughly exploring this vast grassland savannah that spans 1,500 square kilometers. Additionally, you have the option to book a hot air balloon ride that takes off early in the morning. After landing, the crew will assist you out of the basket and escort you to a beautiful setting for a bush breakfast. This experience is unforgettable and well worth the price.
Day 7
7
Today after a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred back to Nairobi and proceed to the Carnivore Restaurant for (optional) lunch/dinner. Later, be dropped off at your hotel in Nairobi or at the airport to mark the end of your safari. Note- If you have a late departure, we can arrange for a visit to the Giraffe Center, home to a towering crew of the endangered Rothschild giraffes. Alternatively visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, a rescue and rehab center for orphaned baby elephants, open to the public for one hour between 11-12 a.m. for viewing mud baths and feeding. Note- We can also arrange a flight/train from Nairobi to the coastal beaches of Kenya Diani or Mombasa if you wish to extend your trip to Kenya's white sand beaches when booking this trip.

Before our trip, I got in touch with three different tour operators on Safaribooking. Camptrek Safaris responded the fastest out of all of them. I must give a special shout‑out to Margaret. Even with the time‑zone difference, she replied to me really promptly, and she even has WeChat. Margaret adjusted our itinerary according to my preferences and budget, and briefed us on all travel arrangements well ahead of time. The operator was extremely reliable for the whole trip. All pick‑ups, transfers and game drives took place exactly as planned. Before the safari started, she even gave my friend and me each a custom‑printed mug with our names on it, which really touched us. Our guide Robert was very experienced. He gave detailed briefings on wildlife and had wide‑ranging local contacts across the African savanna, which helped us locate the Big Five. He manoeuvred the vehicle into perfect positions for wildlife viewing and photos. Robert was a great driver. The savanna is full of deep potholes and the roads are incredibly bumpy, but he slowed down and tried his best to steer clear of those holes for us. The safari vehicle was comfortable and clean, and plenty of drinking water was provided in the back seats. One minor point: Robert’s photography skills could be better. Total straight‑guy aesthetic, hahaha. When it comes to value for money, we thought the price was reasonable for a private custom‑built safari. The recommended accommodations fit our budget, and every service stated in the contract was provided in full, with zero hidden charges. This trip was truly unforgettable. While travelling, we heard bad experiences from other Chinese tourists regarding unreliable tour agencies. Some landed in Nairobi with no one to meet them, and there were even cases of operators disappearing entirely. If you are planning an East Africa safari and want a dependable operator with transparent communication and high‑quality service, Camptrek Safaris is strongly recommended. We would definitely book with them again and recommend them to other travellers.
7-day Amonoseli to Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru to Masia Mara Bring binoculars! Even when you're close to the animals using the binoculars makes it feels like you are living in an episode of a nature documentary. We selected camptrek after getting 5 quotes and from our research they were the best pick for a balance of luxury and cost. You'll be staying at the same spot as other groups so it really comes down to price and your driver. You can look up the resorts individually and spot which companies charge more for cheaper rooms, we found camptrek had the best value here. https://kibosafaricamp.com/ ^this set the bar so high. The dinning area has a giant tree growing out of it, an ostrich went swimming with us, and there's a nice walking path. https://www.lakenaivasha-soparesort.com/ ^wildlife everywhere (giraffe, zebra, hippo, etc.). Close runner up for favorite. https://www.sopalodges.com/lake-nakuru-sopa-lodge/the-lodge ^Great room with good view. But top two offered more. https://zebraplainscollection.com/zebra-river-camp/ ^this was a wet blanket after the other spots. It just didn't have the same wow factor. We had seen hippos from our room at Naivasha so the viewing tower was cool but not the same level. The fans were so loud we just slept without any covers. The hot water had no pressure and there were no locks on the doors. The live music and staff were good but couldn't compensate for the place itself. Neither could the food, which was the best we had all trip (inc. Radisson Arboretum and Kempinski*) but much less of a selection then other resorts. *This is meant for business people and we had just come off a 5 day trek. Don't stay here unless you want to "feel fancy," go to Radisson Arboretum instead for a better overall experience. We had a great time with our driver Ben. We always felt safe around the animals, driving between resorts, and at resorts. A lot of the time you can see all the other resort vehicles around you, and I can confirm that we were always near the front of the pack able to see. Often even the closest to the action. The two books he had in his car are worth flipping through and keeping track of what you have seen/learning about the animals/birds. Read the forwards in the books to really appreciate what they took to make, no AI garbage back then. The wildlife is striking and the scenery something to truly behold. A good mix of tropical and desert. The two lakes felt very different from Mara and Amboseli, creating a unique experience each day. The food is buffet style and some items are great others only okay. The desserts are "European style" (low sugar) but this grew on us a lot. Kenyans, the subset we interacted with at least, call fruit dessert so appreciate the health benefits and buy oreos/similar at a rest stop if you need them (which we did for ice cream, my greatest vice). The hell's gate bike ride and lake boat tour are definitely worth it. The walking safari at Naivasha was good but it does take some time that might be better spent enjoying the cool Naivasha Sopa Resort! So if money/time allows do it but don't feel you have to. Masia tribe visit was very quick then they want you to buy things. Supporting them is worth it but you could cut this and not miss much. Note with 7 days and 4 locations you move frequently and spend 4-6 hours in a car regularly moving locations. This is unavoidable without adding more days or reducing locations. The driving took it's toll but we wouldn't change what we did, although if you have the time/money add a day or two!
We had an excellent experience with Camptrek Safari from start to finish. The entire trip was well organized and exceeded our expectations. Rose, who helped plan the safari, was extremely communicative and detail-oriented. She provided clear, timely information throughout the planning process and made sure all our questions were answered, which made everything feel smooth and stress-free. Our driver and guide, Erick, was truly outstanding. He was highly knowledgeable, patient, and an excellent driver across all terrains. Thanks to his expertise, we were able to see all of the Big Five, witness a real hunt, and capture incredible photos. He consistently positioned the vehicle perfectly for wildlife viewing and photography and never rushed us. Overall, Camptrek Safari delivered a professional, memorable, and high-quality safari experience. I would highly recommend them and would absolutely book with them again.
Our first safari and it exceeded all expectations! Though you cannot control nature, you can control which company will be your safari guide and we are very happy we chose CampTrek. Ben was a phenomenal guide and very personable. He taught us a lot about the animals and always had a keen instinct for putting us in the best position to get great photos and videos. He was not only a great guide but a great friend throughout this journey. I encourage anyone looking to get the most out of their safari to play an active role in your journey, it’s so much fun to stand up in the landcruiser and scour the vast landscape for even the most elusive creatures. My wife and I were fortunate enough to find a leopard, many lions, a cheetah, and some of the most beautiful birds I’ve ever seen. The trip was honestly one of the greatest I’ve ever had, and I travel a lot, and I would not hesitate to do this again.
Our driver Ben gave us the most amazing holiday! While we were waiting for the wildebeest to cross the river during the Great Migration, he didn’t just have us sit and wait around — instead, he took us to explore nearby areas, like the border and rivers where we could see hippos and crocodiles. It made the whole experience so much more fun and exciting! Ben also shared so much knowledge about the animals — how to tell different types of gazelles apart, and the habits of leopards, cheetahs, and lions. He’s absolutely incredible at spotting wildlife. Many times, he’d point something out, and it would take us a while before we could even see what he was looking at! Every time we made a wish, Ben did everything he could to make it happen — taking us to see big cats hunting, or finding all sorts of adorable baby animals. We can’t recommend Ben enough! We’re already dreaming about coming back soon for another safari adventure with him.
Camptrek Safaris gave our relatively large group the experience of a lifetime. John Njoroge and his team worked with us to design a tailor-made tour both in terms of the time, what we saw and experienced, and the cost. Communication with them was seamless and prompt even though we all live half a world away. John and Lucy answered every query thoroughly and with good humor within hours of being asked. And they provided excellent direction and support for obtaining documents and other issues. The safari itself was superb. We covered Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, Nukuru, and Masai Mara. The accommodations were very good - glamping at its most fun- and came in on budget John and the drivers who accompanied us—Pili Pili and Benson—clearly strove to give us a maximum experience by exposing us to all the wildlife possible. They worked tirelessly to ensure each sighting was better than the last and everyday was full. And they succeeded! Importantly, Pili Pili and Benson are highly skilled and careful drivers over exceedingly challenging terrain. Most of all, John and his team made this almost an extended family safari. They were caring and attentive and we learned so much from them both about the animals and about Kenya. I highly reccomend Camptrek.
Rose (our travel coordinator) was very responsive and communicative from the beginning when we started planning our trip, which I really appreciate Geoffrey (our safari guide) did a wonderful job ensuring that my friend and I are comfortable throughout our tour, and made sure to ask what start time we are comfortable with for the following day every evening. He is an excellent and highly skilled driver who is quick witted—he had kindly offered help to another safari guide (after getting our agreement of course), who had found himself stranded as his vehicle was stuck in mud. In the course of assistance, our vehicle had gotten stuck too but instead of giving up Geoffrey then walked to the nearest tree to get some dried twigs and leaves to help maneuver our vehicle out of the mud, which he successfully did in due course! This incident also spoke to Geoffrey’s character as he offered help with no hesitation. Most importantly, Geoffrey’s eagle eyed vision has helped us encounter so many animals during our tour! This is such a crucial aspect of one’s safari tour, and the skills of a guide can vary greatly — in this case we really lucked out! Accommodations arranged by Camptrek was fine — but our first stop at Eliata Bush Camp could have been arranged better by offering my friend and I separate rooms, or a family room, for example, given that the room was quite small and it wasn’t the most comfortable to have 2 people and 2 luggages in the room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Enkorok Mara Camp, which was a luxury camping experience. The other 2 accommodations we had were fine — comfortable enough stays in hotels. All accommodations served excellent meals and we met very kind and hospitable staff everywhere, which is something I really appreciate in Kenya! Overall, I’m happy with the safari for the price paid!
Best possible choice for a great safari , very personable and knowledgeable drivers/guides . Perfect planning and choices of lodges
All arrangements were perfect, from the itinerary, the room type, the hotel, to the Safari, the detailed explanation, the nice relationship during the travel. My kids like staying with our driver and guide Mr. David, who is very patient with my 10 and 12 years old boys. During the travel booking, Ms. Rose also are very nice lady who helped us on all questions and pre-presentations. The team of Camptrek are really good and professional and I do like the travel this time. Looking forward for another time with Camptrek at Amboseli and Mumbasa.
We chose Camptrek Safaris at first because it was recommended by a friend, and it also had great reviews online. While discussing our itinerary, Rose, the coordinator, was very willing to help us make adjustments. Everything we wanted to do was perfectly arranged by her. Once we arrived in Kenya, the team at the agency took care of everything, allowing us to start our journey smoothly and comfortably. Throughout the trip, our driver Ben took excellent care of us. Although the drives were long, he always made sure we had enough time to rest and provided plenty of water. The vehicle was new and clean, and even with six of us in one car, it was still very comfortable. We especially appreciated that Ben cleaned the car every day — we really liked that detail. During the trip, Rose continued to check in on us regularly, so we never had to worry about anything and could simply enjoy the safari experience. We are truly grateful to Camptrek Safaris for their thoughtful arrangements in helping us fulfill our dream trip to Kenya. Highly recommended!
" Camptrek safaris" is very trustworthy and delivers what it has promised. It has to be one of the best tour operators in Kenya. We went on an 8 day safari and everything from the jeep vehicle to accommodation and game drives was perfect and exactly the way Margareth described at the time of booking. The response was quick and very helpful. The tour guide/driver Steven is awesome and make our safari experience at his best. His experience makes us always get the best view of the animals and we easily saw the big 5 multiple times. Highly recommend. I highly recommend camptrek Safaris for a great experience in Kenya. Trust me they will find a way to help you in the best way.
Amazing, had an amazing time, the price was extremely good value and we had the one of the friendliest people I've ever met as our driver, Eric.
As our first trip to Kenya we were unsure on how to properly plan a trip and what company to choose. Luckily Margaret was super responsive and designed our trip according to the dates, flight times and our preferences. After a warm welcome at the airport she introduced us to our tour guide Eric who was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Hotels were nice and staff welcoming. However, the last hotel might need some updating and requires stocking of the bar (no soft drink, no beer no wine and no brew coffee - we were wondering why they bother to open the bar) - but this not reflect on Camptrek as a company. Thank you Margaret and Eric for making this trip wonderful and memorable.
My wife and I have booked a 7-Day Wildlife Adventure & Outdoors Activities (UPPER-Mid-Range LODGES) in Kenya. From the consultation with Kennedy and the offer to the billing and safari execution, everything worked out wonderfully. All the information and tips from the staff were helpful and accurate. The accommodation was fabulous. We were rebooked because some of the camps we had booked were being renovated due to the storms. We actually improved on our original booking in terms of the location and comfort of the accommodation. With Jamu, we had a very experienced and experienced driver who not only drove us safely through Kenya, but was also very familiar with the animals and plants in the parks. He also taught us a lot about Kenya and the people who live there. We have been on many safaris, but have never seen so many animals as closely as on this tour with Camptreck. We can therefore recommend Camptrek without reservation.
