Full-day game drive at Masai Mara from 0700hrs to 1700hrs This day will be spent on viewing Kenya’s finest wildlife park in search of Africa’s Big Five, they include the African elephants, lions, leopards, Cape buffalos, and rhinoceros. The expected animals in Mara are giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, wildebeest, zebras, and hippos It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common. A picnic lunch box will be provided by the hotel and after the game, the driver return to the hotel for dinner.

We did a group safari of Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru and a private safari of Amboseli and Tsavo West. Everything - since the beginning when we planned the trip - was perfectly arranged, on time and beyond our best expectations. The guides (David and Brian) were really amazing and we learnt a lot about wildlife. Lucy from Savannah was following our trip checking on us and I would recommend to anyone this tour operator!
Lucy was extremely communicative from the start. We had to cancel an earlier booking in August last year and postpone it to January due to health issues. Lucy was nothing but understanding - she even charged us less than the initial quote since we were going off season. The guide we were given in Masai Maara was also the best. He was super fun, very accommodating and gave us the best times and spots for pictures. The places to stay were amazing and super comfortable. I would totally go back with Lucy and Savannah Woods again :) recommend the team 10/10. We saw the Big 5 even though we went in January 😁

We had the best experience ever. This was our first safari and it truly exceeded our expectations. We saw lots of animals and our driver Kevin was very knowledgeable about all of them. He made sure we saw the animals up close. This is a must do when you visit Kenya. We did the 3 night Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru tour.
A truly amazing experience from start to finish. We were picked up in Nairobi by Kevin on day 1. He dropped us at the airport on Day 4. Throughout we were treated like kings. Kevin is an excellent driver and extremely knowledgeable about everything we saw. He was able to show us animals and experiences that were beyond anything we pictured we’d be able to see. We actually gained a greater appreciation for everything Kevin was able to do when we took a dawn balloon ride. While the ballon flight was well worth doing, we expected to see great amounts of animals from the air, but saw very few. This shows how skilled Kevin is at finding the truly spectacular sights. We really didn’t picture how close we would be to these animals when we booked this trip. On our way to the Maasai Mara, we stopped at a Maasai village where we were greeted warmly with dancing and learned about their culture. Working with Lucy was smooth and Savannah Woods was very accommodating as we booked everything via email and internet. She booked us into the Entim Private camp which was simply amazing. Fantastic views, spectacular food and their service was worthy of any 5 star hotel in the world. Nightly visits from hippos, elephants and lions rounded out the experience. Lunch beside an acacia tree out on the savannah was only topped by the last night’s “sundowner” where we enjoyed wine and snacks as the sun was setting. All arranged by Savannah Woods Safaris.
We had an unforgettable trip at the Mara with our guide Kelvin. He loves his job which made the trip more enjoyable for us. His knowledge on the animals of the Mara and even the bird species was great to experience. Equipped with a Camera, seats and a table, he chose the perfect spots for Breakfast and Lunch where he captured picturesque moments of us and the beautiful Savannah. Mara Sopa Lodge had great service and the food was good. We had a great time and we left with amazing memories! We will definitely recommend Savannah Woods and Kelvin to all our friends and families.
It was a great and pleasant experience dealing with Savannah. Lucy helped in all the arrangement in making this trip smooth sailing. Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to postponed our trip, she was very understand and accommodating Our guide, Peter had an incredible ability to spot animals we never would have notice on our own. The game drives were interesting and fun. He was at his best to fulfill all request, and very patient in answering all our questions. That said, we experienced issue in time management. For both mornings we did not pick up on agreed time and there was no update. Despite this, we still had a great time with Peter and we enjoyed the services provided by Savannah.
I want to split my review into 3 part. First of all, Savana Woods is the real deal! A professional company with the best customer service I have seen! Lucy is just amazing! Always available, happy to help, proactive I am just speechless! I had issues here and there, she took care of every little thing I had with such patience and grace it was just pleasure! Second is the trip, highly recommended! We saw plenty of animals even on the low season, cheata hunting, plenty lions and lioness, elephants, giraffes, hippos and many more! Evans the tour guide was always helping, considering and fun. Third the mara sopa lodge was a good option in a good location, the food was great with many options and the food biz for the Safari day was also excellent! From the moment we decided to visit Masai Mara for our honeymoon and my wife’s birthday celebration, we wanted an experience that would be unforgettable. After looking at different options, we found Savannah Woods Safaris, and it was the best decision we made. Ms. Lucy took care of everything, from our pick-up in Nairobi to our drop-off, making sure every detail was perfect. We stayed at the beautiful Jambo Mara Lodge, where our rooms were decorated and we had a cake-cutting ceremony with Maasai warriors, who sang their traditional song for us. The surprises didn’t stop there! Ms. Lucy arranged a sundowner in the middle of the savannah where we enjoyed champagne while celebrating my wife’s birthday in an unforgettable setting - It was like a dream. Mr. Kelvin, our guide, made sure we had an amazing and safe safari. He helped us spot all the Big Five (we were lucky enough to see them all!) and shared his love for birds, showing us his bird log. My wife and I went to 3-day private safari to Maasai Mara, and it was an absolutely incredible experience, we couldn’t be happier with how everything was handled from start to finish. 1. Booking and Communication: From the very beginning, the booking process was seamless and well-organized. The communication with Lucy, the manager, was prompt, clear, and professional. We were provided detailed information about the itinerary, accommodation, and what to expect, which made planning much easier. All payment questions were also solved quickly and smoothly. 2. Transportation and Comfort: We opted for a 4x4 jeep, and it was the best choice we could have made. The ride was smooth even on rough terrains, and the vehicle was well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. As it was a private safari, we had more flexibility in planning the routes - huge advantage as well. 3. The Driver/Guide: Our guide Kelvin was simply outstanding – knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly skilled at spotting wildlife. His deep understanding of the animals, their behaviors, and the landscape made the safari even more enjoyable. 4. Accommodation and Food: We stayed at Jambo Mara Loudge, and really liked it. The cottage was clean and cozy, the staff was always welcoming and attentive, the food was nice with a lot of options to choose from. 5. The Safari Experience: The game drives exceeded all our expectations. Despite the low season, we were fortunate to witness breathtaking wildlife encounters, including lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, and even a cheetah hunting. The landscapes of Maasai Mara are also incredible. To sum up, this was one of the best experiences we had ever, and we are grateful to the team, especially to Kelvin for making it so memorable!

From booking experience to the actual safari itself, Savannah Woods has exceeded my high expectations. The service and communication has been superb - something that I weighted heavily when choosing operators. I price shopped across many different vendors, and this company provides much better bang for buck value. Alvin was my private guide for the past 3 days and is amazing. His experience and driving skills is clear when you are in Masai Mara. I highly recommend him as your guide, you won’t be disappointed. I saw leopard, cheetahs, and a bunch of lions because he knew where to go.
Although I had many concerns since this was our first trip to Africa, Lucy & Josphat have gone above & beyond to meet our needs. We kept communicating on WhatsApp the entire time and even found a driver for us in Mombasa. Our safari lasted 3 days and it was what I dreamed & some more. We were very lucky to have a driver like Kush, who has 15 years experience with safaris and basically knew every single bird I asked about. :) He is very well organized, drives well and has a really good sense of humour. On the first evening he took us to a 2h game drive and he knew exactly how to park the car so we can take the best shots. He really had patience as myself and another team member wanted to take many photos. :D We witnessed the most beautiful purple sunset (see pictures attached). At dinner my husband arranged a surprise with the stuff and a group from Maasai Mara brought me the cake and sang to me on my 40th birthday. ;) On the second day we had 12 hours of game drive, my husband and I were happy to see all the big 5 except the rhino and many other animals. The most amazing part was that we saw the leopard twice in one day, although this happens extremely rare! Kush took some very nice photos of every person on the safari car, we ate the meal packed by the hotel and he also took us to the Mara river, where we had a short tour to see the hippos & crocodiles. On the last day we visited the Maasai Mara village where we learned a lot about their culture, we danced and also bought some souvenirs. Then we went back to Nairobi and had a flight to Mombasa for a week of relaxation on Diani beach. It was an amazing adventure and I encourage everyone to try it at least once in their life!
At booking time I had all the needed information from Lucy, communication was good from the Cristina begining and all along the safari she was checking with me if everything was ok. We spend 4 memorable days in Massai Mara and Nakuru, our guide Moises was kind and really experienced, he put us in the best place to see the animals. We saw a lot of them, of course big 5 and lots more. He was always taking care of us and he did a great job. I definitely recommend Savannah woods Safaris!
We had such an amazing trip. Communication and planning with Lucy was great and she found us exactly what we wanted. Alvin, our guide, was so knowledgeable about the animals and made sure we saw loads. Cheetahs, lions, giraffes, elephants and lots more. He recommended a hot air balloon and hippo boat tours as extras which were incredible. We had a great trip and if (when) we go back we will definitely use Savannah Woods and will ask for Alvin!!
Savannah Woods Safaris did an amazing job! The whole trip was catered to our needs and the driver and car they provided for the safari will leave an unforgetable experience. The Mara in December this year was a little wet with rain. However our driver/ guide Kelvin Maina was amazing. He went out of his way to ensure we saw lions, cheetah and also a leopard. It was a really good experience. We went through the mud. The whole ride was just thrilling and fun. We stayed at Ashnil camp. As usual they are amazing. The only thing is vegetarian food is limited choice on the buffet, but the chef Mike, actually goes the extra mile with dietary requests.

We booked our dream Safari for our Honeymoon with Lucy. Lucy was from the beginning till the end very professional, kind and made our wishes come true. Our driver and guide Alex was excellent! He was always in a good mood, brought a lot of energy, told us very interesting facts about each animal, about Masai Mara and Kenya in general. We enjoyed the trip very much, learnt a lot and had an amazing time! We stayed at the Jambo Mara Safari Lodge in a Glas room, which we really loved. The safari booked with Savanah Woods was super organized from the first contact. First, a detailed itinerary was sent to us, with which one knew exactly what to expect and when. The communication was smooth, fast, and very friendly. Everything was carried out as described in the itinerary. In particular, I would like to highlight the guide "Mr. Alex," who was always friendly, warm, and always strived to provide the best safari experience. Thanks to him, we were able to experience not only the BIG 5, but even the BIG 9! A little more direct communication about what is happening on the same day (travel times, duration of a stop, etc.) is the only thing that could be improved. Vacation trip with my family organized perfectly by Lucy. The lodges and resorts booked were all beautiful. The best part was the Safari at Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Naivasha, we saw all the big 5.
