Imagine going on a bicycle safari alongside incredible African wildlife! This experience was simply amazing and will stay in my memory forever. David, our driver, was outstanding: extremely informative, an excellent driver, and always making sure we visited every place promised. Darius, our guide at Hell’s Gate National Park, was equally fantastic, explaining everything perfectly and making the experience even more special. Cycling alongside zebras, buffaloes, monkeys, warthogs, and many other savannah animals was an unforgettable adventure! Both David and Darius are highly professional, knowledgeable, and perfectly qualified for their jobs. After the incredible bike safari, we enjoyed a boat trip on Lake Naivasha to see hippos up close, followed by an excellent lunch at a restaurant recommended by David. Everything was perfectly organized, from beginning to end. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re visiting Kenya, don’t hesitate for a second—book this tour with your eyes closed! We had a great time going to Hell’s Gate Park for the day. David was courteous and helpful and the ride was super comfortable. We were able to request for stops (like for drinks or bathroom) as needed and he helped to coordinate the tours/entrance tickets and activities for the day. Darius was a great guide in the park and explained a lot of interesting facts about the history and highlights of the park. All in all, it was a great way to get out of the city for the day.

David picked us up on time and handled the difficult drive (one-lane road with lots of lorries) very well. During dry times, pack a second set of clothes, the bicycle ride will be an extremely dusty (and partly sandy) affair. We would have liked to be told that in advance. The destinations were top-notch, though, and the views fantastic. Especially the boat trip on Lake Naivasha at the end of our trip was absolutely magnificent. Such a surreal, beautiful place. Absolutely recommend this trip, time well-invested.

Gomez and Stephen were excellent. To be able to bike and see these animals while also hiking down through hells gate is nothing short of extraordinary. It was a wonderful experience and Gomez was especially knowledgeable about all of the history and science. Stephen was a very kind and flexible driver. Word to the wise, when they drop you off at a restaurant to eat at the buffet, you can also not do the buffet and just order something quickly off the menu which will be cheaper and probably better tasting.

Great experience getting a view of the African rift valley with all the breathtaking scenery. The standout two moments were cycling (electric bikes) through a heard of zebra in Hells Gate and boating with hippos on Lake Naivasha. Guides were brilliant, had a blast chatting to them.

We booked a one day trip to Hell's Gate and Lake Naivasha on August 2026. We were one mis 60'a couple on our own but willing to join others. We left Nairobi at 0700 from our hotel promptly with no issues. Booking was online through Tripadvisor with payment through Tripadvisor. There were no issues with payment methods but as a bit of advice for those staying in Kenya, make sure you get a SafariCom eSIM ans the M-PESA app. Almost every business transaction you make in Kenya will use M-PESA. I was a little surprised when a decent Toyota Sedan pulled up and it was just the two of us on the tour. That said, it made for a very personable experience, with our exceptional driver Patrick, Awesome Hell's Gate Guide Gomez and Lake Naivasha Guide David "The Sea Eagle Caller". The drive from Nairobi was very unique in an exciting sort of way. The day was full and we were glad we picked both the ebike option and the boat tour. The road through the plain enroute the Hell's Gate canyon is a long, dirty and dusty experience and with a regular bike, you may struggle at times. The road is 8km downhill on the way there and the same uphill on the way back. The boat tour was a great ads in as we saw Sea Eagles, Pelicans of various types, Marabou, Hippopotamus (mother and baby) and many, many other birds and sea life. Lunch was very well organised as was the timings for the day. Very highly recommended

I enjoyed the Tour. My Guide Patrick drove savely on challenging roads and was on time. The Bike Guide was nice and patient, so that I could take pictures of the animals. I can recommend the optional boat Tour. The boat Guide David showed me various birds and how they hunt fish.

This was an amazing experience! Patrick was on time picking us up, explaining the day, and was there the entire day. Fredrick was our tour guide in Hells Gate. He was thorough, patient and even helped my son bike back from the hike. He was so kind! At the lake, Kevin was very patient to ensure that we saw all of the wild life. What an amazing experience!

I had an amazing time cycling with my awesome guide Javan while my wife took the easy ATV haha. Javan is knowledgeable of Hell’s gate. This couldn’t have happened without David being punctual, great conservationist, knowledgeable of the entire tour and country as a whole. I think our experience was better because of David and Javan.

This 1-day trip was fantastic! Cycling through Hell’s Gate National Park was such a unique experience – riding among zebras and giraffes with the cliffs in the background was unforgettable. After that, the optional boat ride on Lake Naivasha to see hippos and birds was the perfect way to relax. The guide was friendly, professional, and made sure everything ran smoothly. Great value for money and highly recommended for anyone looking for adventure close to Nairobi!

Al great were very keen on taking lots of photos and our tour took a lot longer than expected, but he was super patient and made sure we still filled the itinerary. What a great Day! Exhausting, but worth it. Pick up and drop off by Stephen were as easy as could be considering Nairobi traffic! We went to Hell's Gate and biked around towards the gorge and back. 3 hours with our excellent guide Gomez - informative and chatty - it was a real pleasure to get to know him and his wisdom in Hell's Gate - the Rock Hyrax was a highlight (oh and the zebras). We then went to Naivasha, a boat ride on the lake, a relaxing way to see the amazing birdlife of Nairvasha (oh and the Hippos)! I can highly recommend this trip for the price and what you see when you go - a tip, pack some travel snacks, and the sun is hot in Hell's gate - we forgot our sun cream. A hat wouldn't go amiss. Thanks to the driver/tour guide - I will be back! Simon

We really loved our experience during this day trip to hells gate and visit to lake Naivasha. We really liked our guide Gomez at Hells gate. He was very kind and interesting and made sure everyone in our group was okay. He adapted very well to the need of the group! Higly recomend the visit with him! If you're looking for a day trip from Nairobi, book this one. Seriously. We chose the Hell's Gate + Lake Naivasha tour, with the cycling option in Hell's Gate, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Kenya. We had already been on a traditional safari, which was incredible, but cycling through Hell's Gate was something completely different. Riding a bike surrounded by such striking landscapes, while watching zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and buffalo roaming freely in their natural habitat, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It makes you feel very small, but in the best possible way. Being there is a beautiful reminder of the wisdom, balance, and grandeur of nature. After all that adventure and exercise, Lake Naivasha was the perfect contrast. The boat ride was peaceful and relaxing, and we loved seeing so many different bird species, as well as entire families of hippos popping their heads above the water and wiggling their little ears. It was simply magical. The real stars of the day, however, were our two guides: Stephen and Gomez. Stephen was responsible for getting us everywhere safely and making sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout the day. Although his main role was driving, he went far beyond that. He is genuinely kind, thoughtful, incredibly patient, and also funny and charismatic, especially considering the absolutely wild traffic we encountered. Gomez, our guide in Hell's Gate, could not have been better. Warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about the park, he answered every question we had and shared so much fascinating information. Beyond that, he is simply someone you can have great conversations with about life. He made the entire experience even more memorable. Together, Stephen and Gomez are an A1+++++++ team. This was the perfect day trip from Nairobi. How often do you get to bike in a national park surrounded by giraffes, zebras, and impalas? Our driver, David, was prompt and very friendly, and our guide at Hells Gate, Fred, was patient and informative. He even switched bikes with me at one point when I was struggling uphill. The boat trip on Naivasha was also very enjoyable, and we saw so many different birds, as well as hippos, and many animals as we cruised around Crescent Island. I can highly recommend this day trip with African Beast Tours and Safaris!

Hells Gate National Park and Lake Navaisha is an excellent choice for a different kind of safari experience. First Jane our driver was wonderful! She arrived early and was a great driver and overall tour guide. She even gave some great advice foe our Safari for the next day. The E Bike tour in Hells Gate is special. The park has hills, canyons, animals, and trails. It's an underrated park since it doesn't have as many animals as the other parks. But to be able to bike past zebras, giraffes, and baboons is something different. This is a great experience because it allows you to actually get out and walk, hike, and bike. Other National parks in Kenya require you to stay in the truck for the tour. But in Hells Gate you can get out. The site has a powerful back story. It even has a Lion King connection. Our park tour guide Fredrick was outstanding. He was very patient and really just help make it a wonderful experience. He knew the history, where to take the best photos, where the animals were, and what to be careful about when we hiked. Do not miss Lake Navaisha! It's about a 45 min option. Our baot guide was grest and It was nice to ride on the cool lake seeing hundreds of birds, hippos, and other animals. We spotted gazelles and giraffes from the boat feed on a nearby island. Just a unique and solid and on experience. Highly recommend!

What a great day. It was fun to use the electric bikes in the park! Leki was patient as we learned and provided great info. He was a lot of fun too. David was a great guide and made sure we got places safe. Our group took extra time in one place making us late in the day. He ended up working late for us due to rush hour but never complained - gracious throughout! Also knowledgeable and generous in answering questions

This was such an awesome day! David (driver, guide, coordinator extraordinaire) was very organized, reached out the night before to confirm pick up time, a great conversationalist, and provided helpful advice for the rest of my time in Kenya. Leki (guide at Hell's Gate) had great energy and went out of his way to make the bike ride and walk to the gorge a special experience. At the lake, got to see hippos, a giraffe, and more birds than I can count. Highly recommend as an easy day trip from Nairobi where you don't have to worry about a thing!

We had an amazing day with them. The communication was excellent. Our pick up was prompt. Our guide was fun and knowledgeable, and took his time to show us all the interesting things about the park. I love deer and learned a lot about the different kinds. They accommodated our tight schedule and got us everywhere we needed to be promptly. I would definitely do another tour with them in future!

Patrick (the assigned driver) took very good care of me throughout the trip. I didn’t manage to rent a bike from the city like I was recommended by some locals, but Patrick managed to coordinate a nice bike for me in hells gate through Reagan, who took me through hells gate. Reagan was a super nice guy that fully matched my energy throughout the ride (even took a longer route much harder and longer as I wanted to see a little more). Nixon, my boat guy in lake naivasha did the same with answering all my questions about the wildlife there. Patrick even was very nice to allow me a longer detour to pick something up and drop it off. All in all, great experience and wonderful people that really care for their work and customers. A big thank you again to Patrick.

Great ebike adventure through Hells Gate!

This was exactly the safari experience I wanted. Having lived in Southern Africa I have done many Safaris but the thing that made it special was biking and being outside, out of a safari truck. Patrick picked me up exactly on time and was knowledgeable, friendly and curious. Reagan, who lead the biking and gorge walk, was also very impressive. I learned many things and was certainly enamored by the experience. I loved the boating on lake Nevada, regretfully, I missed the boat operator’s name but he lead a fantastic tour. Really great!

The day was fantastic overall. Hells Gate was wonderful, the rocks were beautiful, the biking was hard work (especially on the way back). We got to see zebra, gazelle, and impala. The lake ride was also amazing, we saw so many different birds, hippos, and even giraffes! The only downsides were the following: The drive was a little long (there was some traffic), we ended up spending more than expected. After already having paid for the activity, we were brought to a very touristy souvenir shop, we had a different guide for the bike tour so we paid tip there, another guide for the boat tour, more tip there and then tip for our driver.

I was lucky to have a fantastic driver, David. We engaged in lively conversation that helped me understand current day Kenya, and the history that informs it. He connected me with Frederick, for a bicycle tour of Hell's Gate, an experience I will always remember. Frederick was incredibly well-informed about the history, geology and wildlife of this area, and shared his warmth and knowledge of traditions from his cultural heritage. His patience and courteous nature made the day flow seamlessly. The boat tour of Lake Naivasha was delightful and a beautiful way to end the day. Altogether, it was a truly inspiring and unforgettable day!

This was an amazing excursion. Hells Gate is about a two hour drive from Nairobi and so worth it to take a day trip. We opted to do the bikes, and it’s 8km one way. It’s not too bad but bring enough water and dress appropriately. The scenery is beautiful and you can see zebras, warthogs, giraffe, as well as other animals. We had Reagan as our guide and he was great. At the end of the 8km, he took us into the Gorge. The bike ride back was a bit harder as it’s uphill but it’s worth it. Patrick was our driver and he was so friendly, kind, and able to accommodate to some last minute things we wanted to do. He took us to the optional boat ride at Lake Naivasha which I also recommend. We decided last minute to do Crescent island and I’m so glad we did as you are able to walk among the wildlife. It was very Jurassic park. Victor was our guide there and he was so great and answered all our questions regarding the animals. If you’re looking for a great day trip from Nairobi, do this, you will not regret it.
