It was fantastic. Amazing the water in between the rocks. And after the hot walk was swimming very welcome. The lunch was very good and the sinkhole with the ‘fish-feet-wellness’ was a nice end of the trip. The guide was patient and helpful when people had troubles with hiking and he was very friendly. I had a good and intensive day.

Bimmah Sinkhole is a water-filled depression, structurally a sinkhole, in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. A lake of turquoise waters, it is 50 m by 70 m wide and approximately 20 m deep. It is only about 600 m away from the sea, between the coastal towns of Ḑibāb and Bimmah. The sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to dissolution of the underlying limestone. However, locals believe that it was created by a meteorite, ‘Hawaiyat Najm’, which translates to ‘The Falling Star’ in Arabic, and hence the name. To preserve the sinkhole, the local municipality developed a park, Hawiyat Najm Park , around it, along with a stairway leading down to the lake.

The trip was incredible! Our guide, Salim, was a wonderful person—attentive, caring, and thoughtful. Although our English isn’t very strong, he explained everything so clearly and accessibly that we had no trouble at all. We also really appreciated that he doubled as our driver; it was incredibly convenient—something we hadn’t experienced on previous trips. The route itself and the swimming were absolutely delightful! The gorge is stunningly beautiful, and the swim was incredibly relaxing. There were quite a few people in the cave—it would have been nicer with fewer crowds, but that’s to be expected given how popular the spot is. For those planning to go: the trek—which involves walking over rocks under the sun—takes about 40 minutes each way. It might be challenging for someone who isn’t physically prepared, doesn’t get much exercise, or tires easily. Be sure to bring water shoes; they make walking on rocks and entering the water much easier. If you don’t have a pair, Salim can stop at a shop where you can buy some. Also, definitely get a waterproof phone case—we didn’t bring one and ended up regretting it! Lunch at a local café was great, too—the chicken was delicious. At the final stop, we decided not to head down; while the location is beautiful and worth seeing, it was a bit less impressive in person than it looked in the photos. I recommend this trip 100%! Just be prepared for the walk, bring water shoes and a waterproof phone case, and you’re in for an amazing experience.
Gear up for this wadi adventure - totally fun and engaging. Everything was smooth from pickup to dropoff
We liked this trip. The Wadi Shab and the scenery around is very beautiful. You can buy or rent shoes and life vest for 1 or 3 Oman rial. The lunch was simple but authentic food. The sink hole is nice to see. The guide Abdullah also made a very good job and was very friendly.
The entire trip was like something out of a dream! I had an amazing time. Mahmood (the guide) was great and very "easy on the eyes" if you know what I mean ladies! However, I must warn others... this hike was VERY advanced and does requires some level of physical fitness to complete. Also no matter how great of a swimmer you are, I still recommend the life vest when swimming to the cave. The meal after the excursion was so delicious and you WILL work up an appetite prior to getting to the restaurant. The sinkhole was beautiful also! This trip was so worth it and I am so happy I booked it.
I had a lot of fun this trip. It was my favorite adventure in Oman so far. Abdullah our guide, led us on a great tour, fun adventure, good food, comfortable drive. Definitely get the life jackets even if u can swim. I got tired at the end 😅...
It is a very long day travelling on a bus. The walk took longer than the advised 45 minutes and it was much more difficult than we were advised as well. We knew there would be walking but not climbing over large rocks.
I just want to say how much I enjoyed the Wadi Shab & Bimmah Sinkhole full day tour 🩵. We had a great guide, Muhannad who explained everything so well and really took care of us throughout the day, making sure everyone felt safe and comfortable along the way. It was such a great experience and definitely a day I’ll remember. I would recommend hiring a life jacket, even if you’re a confident swimmer, as it really helps save your energy especially on a particularly hot day. Also, make sure you bring plenty of water and wear shoes with a good grip as you’ll definitely need both. Wadi Shab was challenging at times but completely worth it and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. This will be a great memory for me from my time in Oman. Thank you so much Muhannad for making the day such an enjoyable experience ☺️ !
It was a must do activity when U visit Muscat. I would highly recommend this company. Qais, our guide is extremely informative, helpful and professional. Really nice van, ice water and very delicious lunch are provided!
One of the best experiences of our Oman trip! We booked the Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole tour through Viator, and our guide Abdullah was incredible. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. We started the hike around 10am and finished around 1:30–2pm. It was incredibly hot, but Abdullah made sure we took plenty of water breaks and never felt rushed. The hike itself was beautiful, but spending time swimming in the water and exploring the caves at the end made it completely worth it! We also really appreciated the smaller group size, which made the experience feel much more personal and relaxed. Abdullah did a great job of keeping everyone together, explaining things along the way, and making sure we were comfortable throughout the day. The transportation was also very comfortable, which was definitely appreciated after the hike! By far one of the highlights of our trip to Oman and something I would highly, highly recommend. Wadi Shab is absolutely worth experiencing, and having a great guide like Abdullah made it even better!
So the tour actually canceled but I decided to leave a 5-star review because of how well the company communicated. They also pushed me into renting my own vehicle and my trip to Oman turned out better than it would have without the car!
We did the Wadi Shab + Bimmah sink hole tour with our exceptional guide Qais who had great knowledge and exceptional enthusiasm for his work. He gave us spot on information about what to expect during the hike - it was quite hot which made the hike even more challenging but Qais made sure his group was comfortable, well hydrated and well looked after. Bonus, he has an amazing sense of humour :) The pick up was smooth, perfect communication from Qais, who also dropped off an item I had forgotten in his van. Thank you so much Qais, your tour was the highlight of our trip.
The tour guide was soo very helpful as I booked this trip for my parents and they said they loved it. He looked after them very well and they said the area was beautiful and tour guide explain the history of each part in a lot of detail which was great. I would recommend this guide to anyone who is coming to Oman as you won't regret it
Very interesting and fun tour with hicking and swimming into the pools! Abdullah our guide was very attentive and supported us throughout all the trip
The hike is not long but is uneven and rocky terrain. You should be able to handle 1.5 hours of this. The valley is stunning and the water is clear and beautiful. The swim into the cave is such a thrill. Our guide Mohammad was delightful. He took such good care of us and shared history of the region as well as personal stories to help us understand and appreciate Omani culture. The highlight of my trip to Oman.
One of the most amazing experiences in my life. Our tour guide Qais honestly he was a gem. يعطيك العافية يا قيس صراحة ما قصرت معي شكرا
Abdurahram the tour guide was vey pleasant & a great guide.Throughly enjoyed the day - Well worth the money spent
It was a fantastic experience. We had a great day full of adventurous. The trip was much better than we had expected. I would definitely recommend it! The meeting point was at a convenient location where we were able to leave our car for the day for free. Our guide - Mohammed Aldighaishi, was such a nice, friendly and helpful guy. He looked after our group so well, making sure everyone was safe and happy. Thanks to Mohammed we have learned a lot of interesting things about Oman. If I could add one more thing I would suggest that perhaps you could highlight there is a possibility of renting or buying the water shoes, waterproof bags and phone cases for a small amount of money at the site.
We had an incredible time hiking through the valley and then swimming along the natural pools till we reach an amazing cave. Our guide Mohammed took very good care of all of us and was so nice and friendly. Thanks for a wonderful day we’ll always treasure in our memories! Alhamdulillah!
Quite physically taxing. 1 hour each way of hiking and then a lot of swimming but it was so worth it. What a beautiful place on Earth to experience. Thank you to our tour guide Mohammed Aldighaishi who was so lovely and really took care of us. I’d highly recommend this experience
A fantastic day - amazing hike into valley and great swimming and cave experience. Sink hole fun too. Lovely lunch at a local Omani restaurant. Group of 11 people in minibus and a professional, helpful guide. Thoroughly recommend this trip and company!
From the very start, our tour guide Abdullah was absolutely fantastic. He arrived on time, clearly explained the agenda for the day, and set the tone for a smooth and enjoyable experience. Throughout the tour, he was incredibly patient and attentive, making sure everyone in the group felt comfortable and well taken care of at all times. His knowledge of the area was impressive, and he shared information in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow. On top of that, his warm personality and positive energy truly elevated the entire experience. If you’re planning a trip to Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole, I highly recommend requesting Abdullah as your guide. He was exceptional and made the day unforgettable.
We enjoyed a wonderful Full day tour to the Wadi Shab and thr Bimmah sinkhole with an awesome guide Mohammed Aldigaishi. What a wonderful surprise Oman gave to us. Mohammed was alaways super attentive and made of our tour a great experience. We will definitely come back and discover more about this lovely country and its people.
The trip to Wadi Shab was excellent with Mahmood being a very good guide. At times, I felt he was aloof from the guests and we were often found alone as a group wondering where he was. Fortunately, we were all sensible adults and looked after ourselves. Wadi Shab is not for the faint hearted and is quite a trek and VERY slippery in places, so extreme care has to be taken. Our lunch stop was very poor with below standard food served. The tables were dirty and If you like a dozen cats at your feet, this is the place to come. The toilets were no better. Overall, the trip was made by getting to Wadi Shab in one piece amongst a group of fellow travellers that made the day very special. I didn't enjoy Bimmah Sinkhole so much and was glad that we were only there for 40 minutes. The toilets there were disgusting.
We loved the experience, guide Abdullah very helpful and friendly. We had an amazing time at Wadi Shab.
Wadi Shab was the best experience we had during our stay at Oman.. Our tour guide Qais ensured that we had a very smooth experience and made it enjoyable. I and my wife were no pro swimmers. Yet , Qais encouraged , Motivated and helped us complete the swim using life jackets. Will highly recommend this experience with this tour provider to everyone.
Get ready for a action packet, fun filled adventure. The hiking is awesome and the surroundings where off the chain. I highly recommend you book this excursion.
Really really fantastic. I'm not usually a huge swimmer so I was unsure how much I would enjoy this, but I ended up absolutely loving it. The landscape and the hike and the water are all so beautiful, and the cave at the end was one of the most amazing things I've seen. Definitely rent the water shoes and the life jacket, even if you're a fairly solid swimmer these will make the experience much more relaxing and enjoyable. Must do!!
If you plan to explore cave at wadi shab, i 5000% recommend to rent a life jacket otherwise the swim can be dangerous and tiring
Bit of a trek on some rough ground to get to the pools. Worth the effort once you get there. Don’t carry too much baggage. If you’re a poor swimmer have the life jacket to feel comfortable in the cave at the end.
A great trip to get out of the city. A fun hike to a swimming pool and a pretty decent swim if you go all the way to the cave and the small waterfall.
The visit to the Wadi was very enjoyable and worthwhile. The hike to the wadi is mostly walking over pebbles and stones and so you do need good walking shoes or comfortable trainers. When you do reach the wadi it can be busy but not too much that you cannot get in. We hired life jackets and it made the swim easier and less tiring. However, if you are a strong swimmer then you don’t need one. Several people in our group hired one but then left them because they felt they could get a better swim. Wet shoes are recommended as you do continue to go over stones and over large slippery boulders which are in the water. Going to the cave is the main part of the swim and getting there is exciting. Then onto the sinkhole - and if you can jump in then have a swim. Again I would recommend wet shoes as there is a stones and boulders waterline. Overall a great day with fantastic guide - Omar who looked after everyone and made sure they were safe.
It was exactly as explained. We could enjoy swimming in Wadi Shaab water for a long time, enjoying the cool water and the beautiful nature. Said, our guide, was extremely kind and gentle
The hike was beautiful, slightly hard due to the path being rugged, but Omar the guide made sure everyone was ok and was always alert, actually, he held the hand of the oldest lady in our group the entire time to ensure she could make it through! Great man. At the end of the 45 minute hike to the swimming area, you will need to swim/ walk on pebbles and rocks for 15 minutes to reach a cave that has a waterfall. Again, Omar acted as a defacto life guard and ensured everyone was safe in our group and others. Life jacket recommend to make it more relaxing, water shoes recommended if you don't have feet of steel like Omar, who also carried 8kg of water for everyone the whole way. You will get great pictures and memories on the way through Wadi Shab.
Mohammed was an absolutely fantastic guide in Wadi Shab. From start to finish, he was full of laughter and humour, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. He took his time throughout the trail and always made health and safety his top priority, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and well looked after. The trip itself was amazing overall, and the hike isn’t too difficult, making it suitable for most people. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Oman — especially if you’re lucky enough to have Mohammed as your guide. He truly made the day unforgettable.
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Oman and I would recommend it to anyone interested in visiting Wadi Shab. Our guide and driver Abdullah drove us to and from Wadi Shab and Bimmah safely and in good time, and guided us along the hike through the wadi and to the pools. It is a breath taking place and our guide helped us get ahead of the crowds so we could experience it with fewer people. The lunch in the local family home was more than sufficient and much needed after the hike. Overall, this was a fun day and a really good experience.
The guide was great, the driver was nice and the whole day was really fun seeing such a beautiful spot. Highly recommend to tourists wanting outdoor activities.
Had the best time on this Wadi Shab tour. Got to swim all through the wadi and to the cave at the end. Once in a lifetime opportunity for sure! Our guide Mohammed Aldighaishi was super knowledgeable and did a great job telling us about the local area. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!
Had such a great time with this experience. Reminded me of Wadi Rum tour in Jordan with swimming through caves, different pools, and the ability to jump off rocks. Lunch was great too and we had lots of water to spare. Would recommend requesting Mohammed Aldighaishi - such a great tour guide! Very informative, kind, and funny.
I joined a Wadi Shab and Sinkhole tour in Oman in January 2025, traveling with a group of about 20 people who were complete strangers at the start. It turned out to be one of the best experiences of my trip. The scenery throughout the tour was absolutely stunning. The hike through the wadi was well worth it, with dramatic canyon views and clear turquoise water along the way. The walk to the end takes around 45 minutes, but it is manageable and enjoyable, especially with several scenic spots to stop and rest. Reaching the final pool was the highlight. Swimming through the water to the small waterfall inside the cave was an unforgettable experience and made the hike completely worthwhile. The Sinkhole visit was also impressive and offered a unique natural contrast to the wadi. The group atmosphere was friendly, and the tour was well organized, making it easy to relax and enjoy the day. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oman who enjoys nature, hiking, and unique landscapes.
A great excursion from the city into the mountains. The scenery was stunning, we had plenty of time to explore and to take photos and then to swim in beautiful pools at the top of the gorge. The final entrance to the last cave was a bit tight and scary but well worth it for the waterfall inside. Excellently organised and safe, with a good mix of fellow travellers.
Absolutely outstanding trip, the sights were incredible and left feeling absolutely amazing. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Made all the more incredible by our outstanding tour guide Mohammed Aldighaishi. He was an absolute legend gave in great insights into the history of the area and all around elevated the trip to a brilliant level. If you’re booking a trip in Oman THIS IS THE GUY YOU WANT! Such a nice bloke. Can’t reccomend Gidoman and Mohammed Aldighaishi enough. Incredible!
Marhaba Oman arranged a very well-organized and seamless trip for me and my team. Their planning, coordination, and attention to detail were excellent. Mr. Ahmed and his drivers were highly knowledgeable, professional, and ensured safe and comfortable journeys throughout. We had a wonderful time exploring Oman — it truly wouldn’t have been possible without Marhaba Oman. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience with omar wpuld recommend everyone to book it with them also amazing food we had thru the tour
We had a wonderful full-day trip to Wadi Shab and the Bimmah Sinkhole from Muscat. The hike through Wadi Shab was absolutely beautiful, with stunning mountain scenery and crystal-clear water. We then visited the Bimmah Sinkhole, which was truly impressive, and ended the day relaxing at a lovely beach nearby. Our tour guide Omar was friendly and very helpful, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Oman!
Loved the hike but the pools were a bit of insta vs reality. The final cave was way too busy for anyone to enjoy. Still worth seeing the beautiful mountains just be mindful it will be busy
The nature was absolutely breathtaking — unreal landscapes and crystal-clear water. The tour was very well organized from start to finish. All the necessary information about what to bring was sent in advance, which was very helpful. Even if you don’t have something with you, it’s not a problem — you can buy everything on site, like water shoes and a waterproof phone case. The lunch was very tasty and authentic — delicious local Omani cuisine. Our driver Rashid was very polite, friendly, and cheerful, and made the trip even more enjoyable. Everything went smoothly. Big thanks to the team for the great organization.🫶🏽 Highly recommended if you are visiting Muscat!
We were met at our hotel and joined the other 7 guests on a drive to Wadi Shab. Our driver/guide informed us of how the day was going to run and what to expect. We stopped at a store to purchase swimming shoes which were totally well recommended and needed to be safe and enjoy the swimming. The trek was through the valley walking alongside the stream, until 50 minutes we reached the pools. The pools were warmed than expected and due to our drivers schedule - picking us up early, we were able to enjoy them before too may people came into the area. We were escorted through the various pools and everyone was well looked after. I can totally recommend the visit and the time spent with our guide. Afterwards we were taken for some delicious lunch before going to the sink hole and then stop to see a Frankensese tree.
Very cool. Can get a bit busy, but well worth it. Go with the water shoes and life jacket. A spectacular setting.
It was breathtaking we never thought that Oman had this beautiful side to it. Highly recommend doing this tour but be cautious that it is quite adventurous. You would be required to swim three different pools which would take about 45 minutes to get through and then finally enter the cave to see the mesmerising waterfall. Highly recommended if you’re up for the adventure. Beautiful Rocky Mountains welcome you into the wadi!
