We had a really good day from start to finish. Communication beforehand was good and the tour was well organised from start to finish. The van was new, comfortable and we appreciated the cold water available throughout the day. We liked that the tour covered important historical sites in Oman. Our guide, Mohammed Aldighaishi, made for a memorable day. He was friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. We really enjoyed the day and his efforts. Thank you

Itinerary
Exploring the Nizwa Souq is one of the top things to do in Oman. It is one of the oldest markets in the country and you will find fruit, meat, sweets, pottery, souvenirs and antiques... There is a lot to discover as you stroll through in the middle of the locals. Below is my guide to help you plan your visit.
The fort in Nizwa dates from the 17th century, during the Al Ya’rubi dynasty, and was built on top of the ruins of a 9th-century castle. The massive structure has been nicely restored, with many rooms set up to look as they did when the fort was in use; you'll see interesting historic tidbits offered in various displays in many rooms. Be sure to check out the prisoner room and read about the wartime use for the local dates, which were turned into a deadly weapon in the form of a cauldron of boiling date syrup. The views from the central tower are spectacular and worth the climb.
This quirky museum is more open house than historical display. Three ladies accompany guests around their traditional house in the aged and crumbling village of Al Hamra. They demonstrate the culinary arts of juniper-oil production, Omani bread-making and coffee-bean grinding, and there's an opportunity for a photo shoot in traditional regional costume. Sitting cross-legged in the majlis (reception room), surrounded by photos of local sheikhs, sampling coffee and dates, and exchanging sign language with the ladies is an experience not to be missed.

Mohamed A. was our tour guide for the Friday Nizwa program. We haven’t met such a well-prepared guide in a long time. He shared a great deal of information with us and talked extensively about the country and the sights throughout the entire tour. He was attentive to the group and remained cheerful and positive the whole time. Thank you for this wonderful day – we highly recommend him to everyone!!
I had the most amazing tour today with Muhammed Aldighaishi. There were just 3 of us on the tour, and his enthusiasm shon through from the moment he picked us up. He gave us full information on what the itinerary was. Our first stop was Nizwa Souq, seeing and tasting the different dates, and smelling Francansence. Nizwa Fort showing all the different rooms and views. Lunch in Nizwa was delicious, followed by Jabreen Castle and finally Bahla Fort A truelly memorable day
(We actually went on The Nizwa Fort + Grand Canyon Trip as the original trip did not meet the number of participants) This experience was very good and intuitive, our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, giving us plenty of time to explore (Thank you Mr. Abdul Hamid), we had our itinerary texted to us with what was required and what to expect, which was very useful. The experience itself was amazing, the grand canyon was a marvelous scene, and the main food and drinks were covered by our wonderful guide. Please be aware that although it is stated that the trip is around 10 hours, it is most likely going to last longer than this, the trip from muscat to the fort and then Nizwa is close to 4/5 hours itself, two ways means that it would be around 9/10 hours. Due to extra traffic on the way back meant it was a total of 13 hours to return to our hotel. Also be prepared for a bumpy ride and comfortable of high heights (for the canyon) Regardless of this, it was still worth the experience fully. With a public setting you are likely to meet other outgoing people. In addition - the team very helpful contacting via WhatsApp the night before with all the information needed and as mentioned our plans were changed, although there is a price difference I was not charged extra for the change.
First of all a big thanks to our amazing guide Mohammed! He Was perfectly prepared, kind, professional and also very funny. The tour is really intresting and we learnt many things. So reccomended!
If you’re visiting Oman then be sure to take this tour, especially if you’re fortunate to have Mohammed Aldighaishi as your guide! We covered everything in the itinerary and more, along the way you’ll try local dates and coffees and sweet treats. Lunch was excellent, the visits timed really well, with time to see everything and we were sad when we all had to say good bye. A really excellent day ! Thank you!
Mohammed was a really good guide: knowledgeable and with a great sense of humor. The tour was comfortably arranged and the sites are interesting. The diner in a beautiful restaurant was excellent.
Great experience. Muhammad is a very good guide with wealth of knowledge and a safe driver. Loved his humor!! Lunch was really good.
We had a great experience on the Nizwa and Jebel Shams tour. Everything was well organized and the itinerary was really interesting. Our guide Mohammed was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day very enjoyable without being rushed. Highly recommended if you want to explore the interior of Oman in a relaxed way.
It was a great tour with a very kind, friendly and trustworthy guide (Mohamed) who took great care of our group and went above and beyond to make this experience as enjoyable as possible to each of us. I liked that we traveled in a small group (9 people) and had time to stop at different spots and try local food as well!
A wonderful very comprehensive heritage tour of Nizwa . Very good value, comes with a delicious lunch. Mohamed is a very knowledgeable, patient and gracious guide.
Very informative and interesting. Quite a lot of steps and walking. Good stop for lunch with tasty food. Long journey but car/cab was very comfortable
I was super happy Mohammed Aldighaishi as our guide to Nizwa, Bahla Fort and Jabreen Castle. He was very informative and enthusiastic about his work. It was a long day full of movement and information. The group was tired by the end of the day, but Mohammed showed no sign of tiredness - I really sympathise with him. He provided so many details about everything we saw and beyond, on the spot and on the road, all day long. Thank you so much Mohammed for your amazing work. I hope I get you as my guide with my next tour.
Mohammed Aldighaishi is such an amazing tour guide, everything is well planned and he always makes sure that we are well taken cared of. I highly recommend him as your tour guide if you ever come to Oman!
Mohammed Abdullah is tge best tour guide from giboman he is helpfull and one gem of a person it was fun tour with him
It’s a long day, but you see alot. The lunch was in a local restaurant, very authentic and tasty food.
This was a really interesting day trip learning more about Omani culture and history. Saif was an excellent tour guide- full of interesting information and great conversation. All in all a very worthwhile excursion. Thank you Saif
A wonderful way to see the old city. Abdullah was a great driver, friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. He was very attentive & went out of his way to answer any questions we had about the souq & Fort. The museum was stunning. I would highly recommend this tour.
Thoroughly disappointing experience, as I’d booked this hoping to see the UNESCO heritage site of Bahla Fort. The tour operator cancelled very last minute (the evening before the tour) due to the fact the group tour wasn’t full. This meant it was too late to book on another tour, as bookings had closed for the next day by that point. They then, somewhat laughably, offered me the option of a private tour for an additional $250, on top of the £60+ I had already paid. This is way above the private tour prices advertised through other agencies, and well above the prices I’d paid for the two private tours I did whilst in Oman, for arguably much more impressive sites. I’ve essentially lost a day of my trip as a result. Very poor service - better off booking a private tour with a more reputable agency who won’t cancel last minute then try to price gouge.
It was a Great trip and nice place to visit. Time management is perfect. Everything is on time. Excellent
Great guide, lots of information about the country and its people and history. Nizwa and Janeen are both very interesting and the market is fun.
We did a private tour for 8 days and for that 8 days it was an amazing experience in Oman. No joke! Best service with my whole family. We are lucky to our tour guide Hamood! He is the best! He take care of us like a family! We are lucky to have him. He is so Knowledgeable and he will answer all your tour questions. I wish all the tour guide are like him. All the best!
The tour was excellente in particular Nizwa city and fort, the landsapes, the mountains. Misfat al Abriyeen is a wonderful village on slopes of the mountains with a beautiful farm. Our guide / driver was very profissional, excellente. He provided us with a lot of information and good advise. We became good friends during the tour. I will be very happy to work with him when returning to Oman.
We did tour of Nizwa and Al Hamra on 2 February. Our guide Mohammed came to pick up us to our hotel at precise time. The vehicle was in excellent condition.First we visited Nizwa animal market which was full of frantic buying and selling of different animals like goats, calves, sheep etc Since it was Friday there was heavy rush and it was difficult to get parking place and move freely. At the same place we visited Dates market, pottery markets and fruit and vegetable markets. Our guide Mohammed showed us all places and gave detailed information of each location. Mr Mohammed was very knowledgeable and helpful guide .We enjoyed visiting Nizwa fort and palace and exhibits displayed there. Our visit to Old Al Hamra was very informative. The ground plus three story old house was very interesting.
The best tour we had in Oman! Jamal is an exceptional tour guide, kind and helpful with a ton of interesting info to tell. We learned a lot, we laught a lot, we saw extraordinary places and we add a beautiful memory in our life. We highly recommend it!

After a meal on the road towards Jebel Shams, the great canyon of Arabia... beautiful.. and this tour in oetit group by car this is great. Thanks to Ahmed the super guide
