Thank you for your kind response. I enjoyed my stay at Centara Muscat Hotel. However, I would highly recommend providing designated smoking rooms, as this would make the hotel more convenient and accommodating for smoking guests. I hope you will consider this suggestion. Best regards, Qusay
As-salamu alaykum, thank you to Malak and the front of house staff who made our short stay here even more enjoyable. We arrived as strangers and left as friends. Good location, surprisingly large room with an enormous super king bed. Very clean and quiet, although a little bit rowdy during the World Cup Soccer Final! Easy to organise a taxi, sightseeing pickup and airport transfers. Breakfast was expansive with something to suit all tastes. Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to return to beautiful Oman, a countrt of friendly people and welcoming smiles.
We had unfortunately a very disappointing experience at this hotel, mainly because of how our complaints were handled. We arrived very early in the morning after a long flight. Since we wanted to get some rest and still enjoy our first day in Muscat, we intentionally booked and paid for the previous night so that our room would be available immediately upon arrival. However, the room we were assigned was directly underneath the pool, where major construction work was taking place. The noise was so loud that we literally had to shout to hear each other inside the room. This was clearly not an unexpected issue, as we later noticed signs around the pool announcing the construction over several days. The hotel therefore knew in advance that these rooms would be heavily affected. Despite several complaints and multiple visits to the reception, it took around 90 minutes before we were finally moved to another room. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. About 10 minutes after finally lying down to sleep in the new room, other guests entered the room without warning, apparently because the room had been assigned to multiple parties. By the time everything was sorted out, we had lost around 3–4 hours, and our entire first day in Muscat was essentially wasted. Before checking out, we raised these issues again and asked whether the hotel could offer any form of compensation. At first, our concerns were largely brushed aside until we eventually spoke with the manager. The manager, Nasser, acknowledged the situation and assured us that he would prepare a "good report" supporting reimbursement for the first night. We were specifically instructed to submit the request through Booking.com and were given the clear impression that the matter would be resolved accordingly. What followed was by far the most disappointing part of the entire experience. After months of correspondence with Booking.com, we were informed that the hotel had declined the reimbursement request. We then contacted the hotel directly, referring to the assurances given by the manager. That email never received a response. A follow-up message sent more than six weeks later likewise remains unanswered. Mistakes can happen, and construction work is sometimes unavoidable. What matters is how a hotel deals with the situation afterwards. In our case, the hotel acknowledged the problem, promised to support a reimbursement request, directed us towards a specific process, and then stopped responding altogether. Throughout our stay, staff acted polite and friendly. Unfortunately, this friendliness often felt superficial. We experienced far more enthusiasm when we were offered room upgrades than when we were seeking assistance with a legitimate complaint. Had the hotel simply responded honestly and transparently, we would likely have viewed the matter very differently. Instead, we were left with the impression that our concerns were taken seriously only until we walked out of the door.
We visited the spa for a couples massage and overall had a good experience. The massage room was very clean and nicely prepared, and the therapists were excellent. Both of them were very skilled and made the massage very relaxing and enjoyable. However, there were a few small things that could improve the experience. Some relaxing background music would have made a big difference, as we could hear a vacuum cleaner and people talking outside the room, which interrupted the relaxing atmosphere a bit. Another point is that after the massage we had to go to a different room to take a shower, walking through the hallway in our gowns. Luckily no one was there at the time, but it felt a little uncomfortable as people could have seen us. It would also have been helpful to have slippers available for walking outside the room. Finally, adding some scented candles or a subtle aroma in the room would really enhance the relaxing spa ambiance. Overall, the massage itself was excellent thanks to the therapists, and with a few small improvements to the atmosphere and facilities, the experience could be even better.
