I stay for one night at the hotel, I was really surprised as was very clean and the service at the check in was pretty good, I will just recommend that if the receptionist is attending one person to secure to be in touch with this even when attending other clients as per moment I was not understanding what is happening on my check in process, the room really clean love it, very comfortable, the hotel is quited and that’s is the most important for me on my stays, breakfast not so many options but tasty, must to fix the coffee machine , lunch I decided to lunch at the same restaurant just because Issues of time enough to visit others I ordered a butterfly shrimps, the presentation really good the amount of shrimps as well, but and this is the only reason why I give 4 stars instead of 5 they was not properly cleaned and I hurt my tongue when eating, For the first I just inform the waitress but I found 3 of them with the same issue making impossible to finish my dish, the chef apologize for the inconvenience and I appreciate but as a hospitality industry worker, Need to remark that this more than nothing can be really dangerous as if I swallow and hurts my throat can complicate things. The staff at the restaurant very professional and great service!

Reviews
I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The rooms themselves are good, but initially we were given a very small room that felt cramped. After we complained, we were moved to a more decent-sized room, which I was much happier with. However, the rest of the experience was quite mediocre. The breakfast was decent, but the dinner was inedible. Although we paid for half board, we ended up eating out most days. When we raised this concern, we were told they have set menus and that the chef would be informed, but nothing improved. I would only consider staying here again if I were on a tight budget and planning to rent a car as there not much going on around the hotel. The food is a major downside of this hotel and I regret opting for half board. Overall, the experience was just okay. Joseph in the health centre was amazing!
Al Falaj Hotel is one of those long-established hotels in Muscat that continues to attract travellers because of its balance between affordability, central location, and practical facilities rather than modern luxury. After reviewing the overall guest sentiment and recurring Google Maps review patterns, the hotel appears especially popular among business travellers, short-stay visitors, sports groups, and travellers seeking a reliable mid-range hotel in Muscat. One of the most common themes in reviews is the hotel’s convenient location in Ruwi, offering relatively easy access to Mutrah, Port Sultan Qaboos, central Muscat, government offices, and commercial districts. For visitors needing a functional base rather than a resort-style escape, its location is ideal. Guests often highlight: • Spacious rooms compared to many city hotels • Good sports and recreation facilities • Swimming pool, gym, sauna, and badminton court access • Friendly and professional staff • Reasonable pricing for a 4-star hotel in Muscat • Comfort for business stays and family visits The hotel also retains a somewhat nostalgic character. Many travellers describe it as a “classic Muscat hotel”—a property with history and familiarity rather than ultra-modern design. There’s a sense that the hotel prioritises practicality and consistent service over trendy luxury aesthetics. However, review patterns also reveal some recurring concerns that visitors should realistically consider: • Parts of the property seem outdated • Some rooms may need refurbishment • Wi-Fi quality can be inconsistent in certain areas • Peak-hour breakfast service may become crowded • Traffic around Ruwi can affect convenience during busy hours Emotionally, Al Falaj Hotel feels like a place where travellers return because it is dependable. After a long day exploring Muscat’s business districts or visiting Mutrah and Old Muscat, the hotel offers a calm and familiar atmosphere rather than an overwhelming luxury experience. For travellers searching: “Business hotel in Muscat,” “Affordable 4-star hotel in Ruwi,” “Hotel near Mutrah Muscat,” or “Family-friendly hotel with pool in Muscat,” Al Falaj Hotel remains a practical and recognisable choice in the city. Best advice before booking: • Ideal for business trips and short city stays • Suitable for travellers wanting sports and leisure facilities • Request refurbished rooms if available • Offers a good balance between price, location, and facilities • Less suitable for travellers seeking ultra-modern luxury resort experiences Overall, Al Falaj Hotel remains a respected and dependable mid-range hotel in Muscat with solid facilities, a strategic location, and a long-standing reputation among regional travellers. While some areas reflect the age of the property, the overall experience still provides practical value, comfort, and convenience for visitors exploring the capital of Oman.
After checking quite a few hotels online, we decided to go with Al Falaj Hotel, and it turned out to be better than we expected. The first impression was very good, right from entering the parking area. The lobby and reception felt welcoming, smelled great, and the staff at check in were polite and efficient. We had requested a higher floor, and they kindly upgraded us to a room with nice city and mountain views, plus a slight view of the sea in the distance, which was a lovely bonus. The room itself was compact but very well designed and cozy. As someone from a design background, I really appreciated the finishes, lighting, and how well the space was planned. It felt comfortable and thoughtfully done. The only downside was the bathroom shower, where the water pressure was low, so we mostly had to use it as a hand shower. The windows also did not open, which was a bit disappointing, especially because the weather outside was lovely and it would have been nice to let some fresh air in. All the staff we interacted with during the stay were kind and respectful. Room service was a bit slow at times, but the menu had plenty of options, including a good number of vegetarian choices, and prices were reasonable. Breakfast was definitely a highlight. There were fresh live counters, good variety, and different Indian dishes each morning across the three days, which we really liked. The food quality overall was very good. The pool area was also nice and seemed quite popular with guests. The location worked very well for us too, with Mutrah Corniche, Al Alam Palace, and Qantab village all within a short drive. Overall, it was a comfortable stay, good value, and definitely a better experience than we had anticipated.
Oldest hotel of Muscat, but still maintaining its charm. Staff like khamis is very generous and gentle. Even though Al falaj restaurant incharge didn't allowed me to just warm my food in their microwave, the stupid excuse is given, its against our policy. Next day for sore throat i asked them for ginger piece and salt for gargle, but they didn't provided it. Beside this stay was good pleasant, and Room were good, cleaning staff was great.
