An absolute highlight of our trip! The excursion was well-organized, the views were breathtaking, and the guide (Charlie) was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Everything went smoothly from start to finish. Highly recommended!

Itinerary
We’ll meet at 8:45 a.m. at Sonnenstrasse 1, 80331 Munich. There you’ll find a tour bus marked “Mentor Reisen,” and our friendly driver and guide will welcome you as you check in. We’ll depart at 9:00 a.m. and drive past several Munich landmarks (which the guide will explain) on our way to the grounds of Linderhof Palace and the Venus Grotto. From April 15 until October 15 we depart at 8:30 am and meet at 8:15 am!
You will arrive at Linderhof Palace parking lot around 10 a.m. After the guide picks up the tickets at the ticket center, you will walk together to the Venus Grotto. The path is slightly uphill and takes about 20 minutes. The guided tour of the artificially created grotto with a lake lasts about 15 minutes and is conducted live in English. You will be fascinated by the play of colors and the interior design. After 10 years of authentic restoration, the grotto reopened to visitors in 2025. Attention: Only in summertime available from May 1st until October 15th.
Around 11 a.m., you will leave the grotto and head to Linderhof Palace, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2025. Explore the gardens surrounding the palace on your own and then make your way to the palace entrance. The smallest, fully furnished, palace was built in the 19th century in the French Rococo and Baroque styles. The Palace of Versailles influenced both the architectural style and the gardens. The guided tour takes place live in English at 11:40 a.m. and lasts about 30 minutes. The tour bus departs at 12:30 p.m.
On the route between Linderhof Palace and the village of Hohenschwangau, below Neuschwanstein Castle, lies the artists’ village of Oberammergau. It is known for its facade painting (known as Lüftl-Malerei) and woodcarving. The Passion Plays, which take place there every 10 years, have also become world-famous. They depict the last week of Jesus’ life, from Palm Sunday to Easter. You’ll take a tour of the town by coach, as this allows you to see much more than a brief stop would.
After a drive of about 50 minutes, we arrive in the village of Hohenschwangau. Once the guide has picked up the tickets for the castle at the ticket office, you’ll have some free time. We definitely recommend visiting the Marienbridge. The "Marienbridge" was built in 1845 and still features original elements on its railing. From there, the view of Neuschwanstein Castle is truly unique. You absolutely must take the opportunity to snap a photo from there!
You can reach Neuschwanstein Castle on foot (about a 30-40 minute uphill walk), by shuttle bus/by horse-drawn carriage for a fee. Your guide will provide you with the exact details. The guided tour of Neuschwanstein Castle begins shortly before 4:00 PM and lasts approximately 25 minutes with an audio guide. Afterward, please return directly to the tour bus. The return trip to Munich departs at 5:30 PM

I enjoyed the day and Charlie was a great guide, informative but not intrusive, and made sure everyone had a clear understanding of pick up places and times. The castle tours themselves were pretty whirlwind but was due to the time constraints on the castle guides to move people through in their alloted time slot.
We loved the tour and our tour guide was wonderful. He was very engaging and explained things in a way that was easy to understand. I also liked how he told us a little bit more of the story as we went. It kept my attention completely Instructions for meeting at each stop were very clear, which was helpful.
Definitely worth the money!!! Thanks to Charlie, best tour guide
Charlie was amazing! Super friendly, very patient and extremely knowledgeable. He was able to give background and fill in gaps of info left out by the tour guides/audio guides from the palace/castle. He really made the whole experience.
Charlie did a tremendous job explaining the history and making the whole day a fun experience. 10/10 would recommend
Customer service and an amazing tour guide made our day special, memorable, and everything we could’ve asked for out of a day trip visit to two Bavarian castles. I would highly recommend this tour company and guide, Gerta. Danke Gerta!
Very good esperience the tour guide was excellent
This felt like a VIP experience. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, and provided a ton of interesting information. The schedule was clear and followed and the ride was very comfortable.
Stephanie our guide was very nice and knowledgeable. Also took all our questions with exact answers and you could tell how much she enjoys her job,
Tour guide was so sweet and so informative. You can tell she loves what she does.
We had a wonderful experience on the full day VIP Daytrip Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Grotto from Munich. The tour bus was very comfortable and provided an easy way to see the Bavarian forests and explore the picturesque palace and castles. It was helpful that the tour included snacks and beverages for the ride since it is a long day. One of the highlights of this tour was the visit to the Venus Grotto on the grounds of the Linderhof Palace where we experienced the colorful effects of lights and reflections on the water. During our stop at Neuschwanstein Castle, we felt that we had plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely lunch and make the trek up the hill to the castle for the scheduled tour time. The walk up the hill from the commercial area to Neuschwanstein Castle takes visitors along a beautiful, though steep road through the forest, but there are also options to ride most of the way in horse-drawn carriages or shuttle buses. It is important for visitors to know that the options to ride up the hill require cash payment in Euros. Our tour guide Marcus was very congenial and knowledgeable. He explained what we saw as we drove through the hills from Munich and provided stories about the history of the landmark sites and the people that constructed them. He handled all the tour tickets and both he and his assistant looked out for the welfare of the group at each stop.
Awesome tour. Guide Sapina is good guide, she explained very well. It’s very hood tour from Munich
Sabine is an extremely professional, knowledgable, responsible and helpful guide. Throughout the tour, she was extremely helpful in any problems we had, she also provided us with Bavarian history which made the tour very interesting. There was also ample time given, Sabine gave us very clear instructions which made our entire experience enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour with her!
Sabine what a wonderful tour guide was very welcoming for the start and throughout the trip. We got an upgrade, which was a very nice treat.!! would book again!
Had a trip in Oct 2026 with Sabine and it was excellent. She was engaging and explaining the history of the region. They also allow enough time to walk around to the bridge for a photo. 100% recommend
Roomy bus with only a small group of passengers. Excellent driver and guide. Miniature candy bars, bags of chips and pretzels, bottled water, coffee and assorted drinks provided. Beautiful countryside views, castles lovely. 200+ step staircases (200 Up and then 200 back down)in Ludwig’s largest castle and a bit of a hike uphill (and back down) so those with any mobility issues should reconsider. Overall excellent trip.
Terrific bus, knowledgeable tour guide and great castles! Could have been a lot clearer as to exact pick up location and drop off time. Also, there was a decent amount of walking, which I liked, but was difficult for some.
A wonderful day through the Bavarian countryside with Sabine, our knowledgeable and friendly guide! This trip exceeded our expectations: the castles have to be seen to be believed. We clocked over 10,000 steps, few of which were on the flat! Highly recommend!
Sabine, was our tour guide and was 10/10 very knowledgeable and helpful. With a castle that gets more than 8k visitors a day we were in line and touring in no time. Highly recommend and worth every penny.
Sabine was wonderful guide explaining everything we saw explaining everything in detail
Sabine was our guide and she was awesome! We had a great time learning about the Bavarian history and the castles were amazing to visit. Highly recommend.
The sites were awesome, but we did have fog, which is to be expected this time of year. Our Guide, Sabine, made good recommendations, was concise with her talking points, and made it easy to spot her at our meeting areas with her bright pink coat! Our driver was extremely good at navigating the winding mountain roads and tight city streets. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Sabine was outstanding. The tour was well organized and went off perfectly. I highly recommend this tour.
Great tour both castles were outstanding great information
It’s a long day and a lot of uphill walking so you need to be in shape and up for it. Annette was a fabulous guide. The experience of both castles and a brief stop in Oberammagau was well worth it. Must do when near Munich.
It was my lifetime dream to see this Sleeping Beauty castle. It was a lot of good information, and the right amount of time to stay at the two palaces and the grotto. It was nice having free snacks and beer on the bus, but I’m really glad we brought our own lunch so that we could spend more time hiking and looking around instead of at a restaurant.
Lucy was very knowledgeable and shared lots of information, hints and tips. Rexhep was a fantastic driver and drove very slowly through Oberamergau for us to see everything. He made excellent coffee too!! Highly recommend the tour we managed to see everything and do everything!
Everything was wonderful despite the rain. Actually we got some really awesome pictures of the castles with the rain and fog. Our guide Dimitri and our driver Quendro were INCREDIBLE. They are both fantastic people.
Our tour guide was amazing! Sabine, was fun and informative, and even let us use her charger! Great experience!
Sabine was amazing! Worth every penny. Thank you so much!
What a wonderful excursion! It was a very full day but very well presented by our guide Sabine. She was exceptional in every way and guided the entire group through all of our stops. The snacks and beverages on the bus were a huge bonus. It is a long day, and that castle hike is tough on the knees but we would do it again in a minute!
Sabine was a great tour guide. Bavaria is beautiful. Tour was well organized.
Sabine and our bus driver did a fantastic job with our group all day. It was safe, easy to navigate, and I learned a lot while having fun. Definitely worth the time and money for the memories that will last a lifetime.
Best day trip! Well looked after and fed with snacks and drinks on board a luxury bus. Informative and fun. Well organised. Highly recommend this tour. Sabine was great.
Excellent tour and Guide. Castle was beautiful and Sabina was very informative
Sabine was a terrific guide for this tour! She provides so many little extra tips and information that made the trip extra special! I would highly recommend.
Bruh the guide was lit. Charlie was awesome! 10/10 would do again. I needed to bring more snacks though. But that’s on me. Charlie did say we were talking too much but that’s also our bad. He’s a chill dude though. Super funny! Kept switching his accent from a British accent to American accent. His stories were so good and he was a genuinely great person! 10/10 Charlie deserves a raise.
We had a great experience with our tour guide, Charlie, who was very knowledgeable and kept us informed of what to expect throughout the day. A full day well spent in Bavaria!
We had a lovely time visiting the castles. Thank you Charlie and the Mentor Reisen.
Charlie was a fantastic guide. He made himself available and was able to answer questions with ease. He never hid like some guides do sometimes. The tour itself is so worth it! Absolutely fascinating and 100% recommended, even if you’re not a history person. It’s for everyone. —Tommy
Definitely, a very engaging guide, had a good sense of humour and knowledgable with German history. Interaction with the public was great and tried to keep the schedule on time.
A great tour if you want to save time. Our guide is Charlie, who also gave us s lot of background of the castle and the stories. Highly recommend!
Great tour! Charlie is so nice and professional! Definitely recommend this tour!
Tour was relaxed and enjoyable. A fair bit of walking on the second half of the tour. Our guide was friendly, funny and informative. It was well organized with no issues.
Went on the Neuschwanstein Castle/Linderhoff Palace tour with Charlie - the tour was well organized, and Charlie was very knowledable, and did a fantastic job and making sure the group made it to where we needed to go.
Our guide, Charlie, was very knowledgeable about the history of the castles and the royal family that built them. The castles themselves are beautiful and absolutely worth seeing.
We enjoyed our trip to Neuschwanstein Castle and our other stops with our guide Charlie! Excellent way to see these sights from Munich. Instructions were clear and the stories were told in an engaging and funny way.
It was an enjoyable day for me and my family. Christine served as an excellent, well-informed guide who kept the tour well organized. Our driver performed double duty as a barista and driver, handling the route to each site and the return to Munich with skill. I highly recommend this day tour.
Had a wonderful experience on this tour with tour guide Christine and driver Qendrim. The castles were beautiful, the history lessons were fantastic, and the transportation was a breeze. 10/10 recommend!
