Third Reich Walking Tour Munich

I recently took the Third Reich walking tour in Munich as a solo traveler, and it was easily one of the highlights of my trip, especially because I had Sam as my guide. Since Munich is where the Nazi movement started, being right there on the ground made exploring this dark history an unforgettable experience. Sam was incredibly knowledgeable and provided deep historical context for every single sight we stopped at. A major moment for me was standing inside the Hofbräuhaus, where Sam brilliantly explained its significance as the birthplace of the Nazi Party where Hitler first laid out his 25-point program. Rather than just listing off dry facts, he did a fantastic job breaking down the complex background events and the political climate that allowed the Nazi regime to rise to power. He was truly like a walking cliff notes version of Hitler and the era, turning dense history into fascinating, easy-to-understand insights. The tour covers a 2.5-mile walk, which was a great way to see the city. While I found it absolutely perfect as a history buff looking for deep context, I could easily see this being appropriate for families too—even with kids around age 128—because Sam keeps the narrative so engaging and accessible without being overwhelming. One piece of advice: definitely wear comfortable shoes, as we walked over uneven surfaces, cobblestones, and stairs along the way.

Took the 3pm 2.5 hour Third Reich Walking Tour our 1st day arriving in Munich from NYC. We were tired and jet lagged but really enjoyed the tour. Saw many sights and learned tons of information we would have never found on our own. Our guide Anuschka was very informative and spoke perfect English. She took the time to answer questions at each stop. Personal highlight for me was seeing the "secret" 3rd floor Festsaal at Hofbräuhaus. Although heavily damaged during WWII, It was the location for several NSDAP meetings and speeches in the 1920's - 30's. Overall an interesting and super informative historical tour. Great way to begin your visit to Munich.

Scott was an excellent guide. He really knew his subject matter and was willing to go into other related topics which added to the tour. It’s a great way to see parts of Munich that you might not see otherwise. He had a lot of information to share but when some one is speaking quickly it may be harder for some people to hear correctly.

Very enjoyable tour. Started at 8:30 in the morning which at first seemed too early but was actually the best time as finished in time for lunch etc. Our guide, Michael, was very well informed, had great historical and local knowledge and was very entertaining.

His ability to explain such a complex and dark chapter of history with clarity, sensitivity, and fascinating historical details made the entire experience truly memorable. Curt brought history to life as we explored the places connected to the rise of the Third Reich, sharing stories and insights that went far beyond what you would find in a history book. What impressed me most was his storytelling and his ability to keep everyone interested throughout the tour while treating such a serious subject with the respect it deserves. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Munich, especially those interested in history!

Excellent tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and interactive. So many relevant locations in Munich where Hitler came to power. It was an early morning tour and cold but the guide adjusted accordingly. I would have liked to also attend the Dachau tour the guide also conducts.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. She was open to us asking questions and the tour did not feel in any way rushed. Her personality was perfect for this and we would recommend it to others.

Tour was very informative. Guide was very efficient. Loved the way he talked about the history and details with a lot of passion. He could have walked slightly slower to accommodate the old people in the group and could have allowed a few moments for pictures. the guide being 'very dry' was the main reason this tour is not getting a 5 star.

If you are interested in learning about how the Nazis came to power, and you enjoy learning about history in general, then this is a good tour for you. Our guide Sam did a great job of taking a rather serious subject and making it interesting and informative, while we visited a number of locations with key historical importance to the Nazi movement. The parallels between the political movements in the 1920s and 1930s, and our modern times are striking. The tour covers about 2 1/2 miles so be prepared to walk and to keep up. Also be prepared for the weather, since it rained on and off the whole time of our tour. Sam did a nice job, would definitely recommend taking this tour with him.

Sam was a fantastic guide. He is very knowledgeable on the birth of the Nazi party in Munich. We covered a lot of ground in under 3 hours and thoroughly examined and discussed important material that is fading as the years go by. The meeting location is easy to find and the tour ended in Marienplatz which was perfect. We highly recommend taking this tour as the material is relevant today.

Excellent tour with outstanding tour guide. We were given a full explanation about the start of the Third Reich and Hitler’s rise. It was fascinating to learn about the history of the buildings which we’d previously walked past without knowing anything about their significance. Highly recommended.

This is a very informative tour and I recommend it for a true history buff. Our guide was wonderful! The tour company was so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Our international flight was cancelled last minute which caused us to miss our tour on our initial tour date. I emailed them as soon as I received the cancelled flight notification. They were so nice to move my tour to the next day and I did not miss this wonderful tour!

Iain, our guide, made munich's role in the formation of the third Reich come alive. Visiting the locations where key events occurred increased my understanding of how the ultimate disaster for mankind evolved.

A well presented review of events in WWII Munich, including relevant historical context. A lot of information (talking), so would not recommend for children.

This walking tour was worth every penny. Our guide Dan was a wealth of knowledge regarding the history of the Third Reich, and he brought his personal family history into the tour which gave us an interesting perspective from both sides. Very informative, sobering tour. Aileen was an excellent guide. She shared an enormous amount of information and gave us time to return to exhibits that interested us in each location. This is a WALKING tour. Some public transportation is used and the pace was pretty quick.

I was really looking forward to this tour, however, the tour guide (Peter) was difficult to hear and understand. He often looked down and would mumble while doing so. We left the tour early.

Great morning tour in Munich. Radius Tour start location was not easy to find but give yourself 15 minutes extra and you can walk around the block. Coffee shop nearby. Grab a water or bring water bottle!

Sarah was a fabulous guide! We really felt like we learned a lot and the stories were so interesting. We really appreciated her sharing her personal perspective growing up in Munich and as a sociologist.

Sarah showed around the city of Munich and got all the highlights from the beginning or rose of the Nazi Party. She was quite knowledgeable and interesting, especially considering the emotional heaviness of the topic. As a sociologist, I appreciated Sarah attention to the explanation of how Hitler came to power because of the circumstances surrounding Germany at the time, and how certain aspects of our current political state seem to mimic those of Nazi times.

Met our guide Jake who was English speaking. The tour took about two and a half hours . Our guide Jake was very informative and willing to answer any questions. Jake kept everyone engaged with humour and there was a good atmosphere throughout. Highly recommend this tour.
