In 1919, Germany was emerging from World War I as a defeated and humiliated nation with Munich in the grips of hyperinflation and Bavaria dominated by revolution and assassination. Out of this fertile soil of chaos rose the Nazi movement and one of history’s most powerful dictators, Adolf Hitler. Join us to explore the dark side of Munich’s history as the birth place of Nazism. Follow the growth of the movement from its first mass meeting at the Hofbräuhaus, to its failed attempt to seize power at the Feldherrnhalle. We take you to the site of mass party rallies at Königsplatz and stop in the Hofgarten to talk about The White Rose resistance movement. The tour covers all important facts and sites that played a role in the origin of this dark chapter, that ended with the beautiful city of Munich in ruins.

Very interesting look at WWII history, our guide Ulrich was knowledgeable and friendly. Wear comfortable foot wear, about half of the tour is walking from point to point. There was only a couple of stops where you could sit. Not a vigorous pace for most people.
This was a terrific and eye-opening tour. Josh was our guide, and his thoroughly researched presentation of information about the Third Reich’s development and later, a world at war, was extensive and sobering — but necessary in these times. Highly recommended.
The tour guide, Joshua, was not very nice. He was knowledgeable. However, it appeared that the tour was a waste of his time and he didn't want to be there. There was a tone in his voice and he treated the adults like there were disrespectful children. In addition, the tour was 3 hours without any comfort breaks. Finally, pictures were limited because he didn't want to be captured in anybody's photos. I have been on many tours and I am a retired school teacher. However, I have never encountered anything like this. There was just no respect to anyone in our tour group. What a disappointment.

Our tour guide, Josh, was fantastic! He was passionate about the history of the Third Reich. Josh provided information that only a person from Munich could share. He made comparisons between the Nazi government and present day without judgement. I would highly recommend this tour with Josh. Also, if you are going to Dachau, take this tour first. It gives you great background information.

Josh was extremely knowledgeable about his WW2 history. He took us to the most iconic areas of Munich for such history and provided photos of exact places from the war era which was very interesting. I would definitely recommend going with Josh if you want to know the darker side of Munich’s history.

The tour led by Josh was so informative and insightful. Josh not only delved deep into the history of the "how" the Third Reich came to power and how the Allied forces ultimately defeated them, he added color to the time that was very helpful in understanding "why" the Nazis seized power during a turbulent era. By dissecting the way in which the Nazis used the three Ms (manpower, marketing and money) of the authoritarian playbook, Josh provides insight into what is happening to so many democracies today. That makes this not only a history tour, but an essential lesson in trying to protect ourselves in today's world from these forces. If you are in Munich, book this tour. You will come away better for it.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable but the overall experience was not pleasant. We walked VERY fast from one location to the next. Then the group stood and listened for a long time, then off again at full throttle. No sitting or water breaks for 2.5 hours. Other tour groups in our vicinity were seated on benches and listened to the guide. I learned a lot but overall an unpleasant experience.

This was a very good tour of the history of the third reich. Josh had a wealth of knowledge and passionate about it all. It was a very interesting tour. We ran out of time to go Konigsplatz though which was a place I was really interested in.
Steve was absolutely wonderful, far exceeding our expectations. There were lots of reviews mentioning “Josh,” but I cannot imagine why there are not just as many about Steve. He was friendly, considerate and his knowledge and storytelling were just outstanding. I was a history major and my husband is a history fan, so we especially enjoyed Steve and this fantastic tour. We learned so much; it made our trip to Munich great!
