THE bus ride takes you through beautiful German countryside. Lovely old town, clean and well maintained. Nice parks. Good restaurants and shops.
An excellent and very well-organised tour! We loved all the places we visited, and Rothenburg certainly lived up to our expectations. Sven was a fantastic tour guide – incredibly knowledgeable, informative and engaging. He shared so much interesting information along the way. Highly recommend this tour!
It was a fabulous place to spend part of a day. Wish we had a lot more time to spend there! The walk along the wall was very peaceful and serene.
This is a trip worth the money. Together, they offered a memorable journey through history, culture and architecture—a reminder that some places allow us not merely to observe the past, but to feel as though we have stepped right into it. Ms. Felicia, the guide and Mr Dragon behind the wheel were phenomenal. I particularly observed that Ms. Felicia went the extra mile to make sure everyone in the group benefited from the experience.
While the overall trip was good. I have a question as to why we charged 12 euros to visit Harburg Castle on the bus by the tour guide while the official site said the visit with guide would be less than that?
Just enough time to visit both places Very charming medieval town of Rothenburg and interesting castle. Our tour guide Felicia is knowledgable, friendly, helpful and kind. Our driver Dragon is also very good & keep us safe
We could not recommend this trip enough. Rothenburg and Harburg castle are fantastic places to visit - very picturesque and full of history. Felicia and our driver Dragon were both terrific. Felicia guided us brilliantly and made the trip both fun and educational. Great, safe driving from Dragon.
Great day trip from Munich. Rothenburg is a beautiful little town with great food a interesting sights.
This is a wonderful trip if you have a day to spare Rothenburg is amazing! The castle is a good midway stop but nothing spectacular
We had a very rainy cold day, but it still was an enjoyable day. Our guide had a sweetest voice and was very informative.
My husband and I had great time. Everything was perfect. The tour guide was very organized and pleasant. He made arrangements to have lunch as soon as we arrived to Ruthenburg. The food was delicious. The bus was clean and warm. We just loved this trip. ❤️
Great trip and Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a must see Barvarian town. It was what storybooks are made of.
What an amazing day we had! Dimitri was our guide and Martko was our driver. As we drove out of Munich into the Harburg Castle, Dimitri gave us an overview of the area and explain some of the historyof Bavaria. This helped to put the things we were seeing into perspective. The castle tour itself was really great, Taryn was our guide. After the castle, it was another one hour and 30 minute drive to Rothenberg. Dimitri gave us an overview of the area and highlighted some places to eat at his suggestion. We ate lunch at the Baumeister house. It was delicious and we had great quick service. The town of Rothenberg is just beautiful. We took a tour of one of the churches and just wandered the beautiful hilly cobblestone streets and felt like we were in another time. The tour was seamless and well executed. I would highly recommend!
Rothenburg is the cutest little town! This was a fun day spent touring the medieval Harburg castle and the medieval town of Rothenburg. The castle was interesting, and I'm glad we had the chance to tour, especially because photos were allowed and it was a nice contrast to some newer castles we toured later in our trip. But my favorite part of the day was Rothenburg! The buildings and flowers are so colorful and picturesque that you might recognize the main street from popular puzzles! We happened to visit on a German holiday (Unity Day), so there was a band playing in the square and lots of kids dressed in traditional German clothing. And lots of people! (I assume it is not as crowded during the week) The backstreets were not as busy and it was fun to explore the little town. We went inside the church, a few shops, had lunch at Baumeisterhaus, and took lots of photos. We would have loved even an extra half an hour here, but I know it's a tight schedule already. Dmitri (our guide) and Draagon (our driver) were friendly and professional. So glad we took this tour!
We completed the tour today and I am completely satisfied and believe we received well more than we paid for. Our guide, Irmgard, was very informative and well spoken. Everything was on time and went smoothly compared to tours we’ve done in other countries. We really enjoyed ourselves. My only downside was the meeting point was not where the app/email we received stated it would be. It was across the street which wasn’t that big of a deal but it was a bit confusing since there were also tour buses where we originally went.
Patrizia, our guide, and Dragan, our driver, were both fabulous. Patrizia was engaging, knowledgeable, clear and fun. Dragan was an excellent driver even when the winds got high and it was pouring with rain! The castle was interesting and the town very scenic. Be aware the prices in the town are much higher than in Munich! You can buy drinks for cash on the bus much cheaper than in town. I’m glad we went to explore the outer reaches of Bavaria. Thank you Patrizia and Dragan for making it a fun day :)
This is a very long day, but well worth the trip. Rothenburg is a magical city, think Disney beautiful. I was a bit disappointed by the Romanic Road; along with the small villages that you see along the there is also light manufacturing and storage facilities. I would say it detracts from the "romantic". The Harburg castle is worth the stop as well. Our guide Patricia and driver Dragon were exceptional.
Good excursion. long day which we were aware of. I thought we were seeing two castles. we saw one castle then explored a cute little town. comfortable ride on the bus.
Comfortable bus, Patricia was a very enthusiastic and good guide, explained what to do in the time avaible in Rothenberg wirh a map. Draga( i hope I got the name right) was an excellent driver. Gorgeous scenery on the way. Rothenberg is lovely though chockablock with tourists .
Amazing day with our guides Patricia and Draagon. Patricia was very knowledgeable and made the whole experience fun.
Lovely little town but its a very long day, especially if it's raining. The castle isn't really worth seeing and the tour, though professional, has little of interest to tell
Has wonderful with Patricia she good at the tour and stuff and it was a nice day to goes see thing there
This was a great tour and a wonderful experience! Our guide, Patrizia, was fantastic, very friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. She was a great speaker and made the tour both fun and informative. We really enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend this tour!
Beautiful medieval Town with history and great shopping. We travelled the Romantic Road to get there and may come back to discover er other towns along the road.
We enjoyed our trip with our driver, Dragan, and our tour guide, Hanae. It was an interesting tour at a leisurely pace.
We’ve been traveling a lot and booked through Viator on most of our excursions but this time was a very bad experience! Demitri our tour guy took us to Rothenburg for Romaric road and for lunch he took us to Baumeisterhaus restaurant where we waited for 30 mins before they took our orders then we sat there watched other people who came after us got their food, ate and left. When we asked about our orders they said to wait. Our tour guide didn't care checking up on us when we told him we still didn’t get our food he said to go handle the issue with the waiters ourself . And Demitri recommended this restaurant .At this time 45 mins later, all the people from our tour bus have eaten and left the restaurant. Still didn't get our drinks or food , we left the restaurant to go to a different restaurant. We were supposted to have 3hrs at Rothenburg, after our lunch we only had 15 mins to visit the town. We felt like this could have been better if we had a better and more caring tour guide. We didn’t see much of Rothenburg, felt like this tour was incomplete bécause we didn’t have time to see much of the beautiful town ! We are very disappointed to have travel so far just to have 15 mins rushed thru town.
Have a good idea before you go what you want to see, do, eat, and where places are located, especially in Rothenburg. It's such a beautiful town with so much to see and eat!
Definitely worth seeing. Bus ride was comfortable, guide was entertaining and what a wonder experience to see one the oldest preserved German town. Countryside is beautiful.
Not enough time to to explore Rothenberg, also they charged us 12 euros per person for the castle entrance fee and when we arrived at the castle we seen the entrance fee was way less. Overpriced and had to rush thrue the town I suggest if you decide to do it don't eat lunch and pay your own entrance at castle
The experience is calm, informative, and beautiful. I highly recommend it! The tour guides are awesome and the driver is impressive.
Rothenburg is such a quaint and beautiful town! Only wish I could have stayed longer. Our guide Patrizia was amazing and so friendly.
This trip was well planned. The tour guide, Patricia , was a wealth of historical knowledge about the event as well as the history of the Munich area that we were passing on the bus.
Perfect for a day away from the city without the stress of coordinating trains and taxis. Well worth the money.
A great experience with your loved ones. Wish we had more time there but was still absolutely amazing to see the town! We had Patriza and she was knowledgeable and so kind!
It was a really great day trip. The guide Patrizia was friendly and helpful had lots of interesting info and stories.
Great trip but needed more time in Rothenburg and less at the castle. We could have skipped that completely
This was a great tour . Rothenburg is a city right out of a movie. Lots of history on the tour Plus you get to drive on the AUTOBAHN. Ride home is 3 hours back to Munich
We had a wonderful day trip to Harburg Castle and Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Harburg Castle was fascinating and full of history, while Rothenburg was absolutely charming. One of the highlights of the tour was the free time in Rothenburg. It gave us the perfect opportunity to wander through the beautiful medieval streets, browse the unique shops, explore at our own pace, and soak up the atmosphere of this picturesque town.A special thank you to Hanae and Dragan, who were both fantastic throughout the day. This was an excellent day trip that offered a great mix of history, sightseeing, and independent exploration. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience the beauty and character of Bavaria.
We took the tour with Felicia and our driver Voldemor. The castle and the town were beautiful. So glad we did it!
Harburg is a must-go if you are a fan to medieval architecture. Rothenburg is more commercial than last time I was here, but still worth coming. The guide, Felicia delivered nice and detailed introductions during the tour. Overall a pleasant experience.
Our guide, Felicia, was very attentive to us, even though we aren't fluent in English. The townscape of Rothenburg and the Christmas shops were also absolutely beautiful.
Directions to the meeting point were terrible, Google Maps didn’t get the right location and I got no response from Viator after multiple messages. I hope they refund us the money but the worst part was losing the day to tour this town.
This is a great day adventure complete with a detailed castle tour and time to eat lunch and then explore an adorable town. Transportation was a comfortable, enclosed double decker bus with air conditioning and the meet up point was easy to find. Our tour guide Melanie was full of great information throughout the ride and again when we got to town. She even arranged reservations for us at a great local restaurant. If you’re looking to see something outside of Munich, this is a good option.
The tour guide was very friendly and gave a lot of good information regarding surroundings and general information that is not general part of the tourists knowledge
This tour to Rothenburg and Harburg Castle was worth the time and money. Rothenburg looks like it's out of a fairytale book. It is a good day trip. The only complaint that we would have is that we wish we could have had more time there. The tour gave us 3 hours to check out the town. We spent a little over an hour at the Harburg castle which was enough time. The drive from Munich is 3 hours each way. This tour is a full day. The tour guide Felicia was very informative and pleasant.
A fun experience but I would have been content to just spend the time in Rothenberg as opposed to going to both locations. When in Rothenberg, the guide offered to make a reservation at a restaurant for us. I accepted but, looking back, I would have rather just explored on my own rather than using our limited time on a sit-down lunch. The food, however, was very good. Our guide was great, gave great information, and was eager to answer all our questions. Overall, I would recommend the tour but advise to skip the sit down lunch if offered and explore Rothenberg more.
If you're not familiar with this part of Germany, you will enjoy learning about the history and visiting an amazing preserved castle and a Medieval city. Every step presents a photo opportunity. Beautiful.
Felicia and our driver were great. Very organized and on time. Harzburg castle was very cool and Rotenburg was an amazing place. So glad we made the trip and was able to enjoy these areas outside Munich
Although the castle was very interesting, by the time we got to Rothenburg, I was ready for lunch. Even though we went to a restaurant that was very quick, it didn't leave much time for shopping. I only had time for two stores. I would suggest either taking your lunch and eating on the bus so you have more time in the town. Or, perhaps the company could think about doing a different trip that doesn't include the castle and just goes right to Rothenburg.
