Trip was more of a private driver to these locations. It was not a guided trip. Locations were pleasant to visit but it was a rainy day so visibility was limited. This trip on a sunny day with a knowledgeable guide would be great. Vehicle was spacious and nice. Driver was nice guy but spoke very little English. I would say this was a trip that Misaligned on expectations.

The Eagle's Nest or Kehlsteinhaus was built in 1937-1938 as a gift for Hitler's 50th birthday. The building is an architectural masterpiece with fantastic views, rising on a narrow rocky ridge at an altitude of 1,834 metres in the middle of the Bavarian Alps near the Alpine town of Berchtesgaden. A visit to the Eagle's Nest is fascinating, your private English-speaking driver will take you to the car park, where a local bus will take you along a steep 6.5km long path carved into the rock. In 15 minutes you'll climb 700 metres. But that's not all. When you reach the upper car park, you'll have to walk through a marble-lined tunnel and then take a luxurious period lift up another 124 metres. There, you'll find not only the interior of the once-famous villa, but also the restaurant and, of course, stunning panoramic views of the Alps.
Don't miss the opportunity to take a boat trip and enjoy the peace and quiet of the national park. A breathtaking panorama of waterfalls and towering cliffs awaits you. The emerald green Königssee lies at the foot of the eastern face of the Watzmann in the heart of the Berchtesgaden National Park. At 190 metres deep, it is the deepest lake in Germany. The boat trip across the lake stops at the famous St Bartholomew's Church. The 17th century church is one of the most photogenic spots on the lake. There is a kiosk and restaurant nearby. Interestingly, the lake only freezes over once every 10 years on average. It takes unusually cold weather and no wind. A cruise on the lake is therefore an experience at any time of the year.
When you've had enough of the beauty Königsee, a comfortable private transfer awaits you to the next gem. The imposing Fortress Hohensalzburg is the largest surviving fortress in Central Europe and offers breathtaking 360° panoramic views. Originally built in 1077 by Archbishop Gebhard as a defensive fortress, it sits atop the Festungsberg hill. It still occupies a dominant position today, overlooking the city of Salzburg as its eternal guardian. Inside the castle there are several museum exhibitions. On the third floor are the original rooms, including the Princes' Hall, the Golden Chamber and the Golden Hall. The furnishings in these rooms are original and have remained unchanged since 1501/1502. The historic city centre is also beautiful, where you can visit the filming locations of the iconic musical The Sound of Music.

This experience was written up like you are able to do all the things it describes....that isn't possible given the timing. If you actually want to enjoy your experience, you're going to have to pick activities. Our van was late to our initial pick up (traffic) but we left around 8:15am and returned around 7pm. Adding Salzburg would have made it a VERY long day. My group was a high energy, active group, but it would have been too fast for us to enjoy if we tried to cram it all. We dropped Salzburg and stayed with Eagles Nest followed by a boat ride on Lake Konigssee to the 1/2 way point of St. Bartholomew where we had a relaxing lunch, explored a little, and did some quick shopping when we made our way back to the van. There's probably a more appropriate tour for scaling back, otherwise, cramming it all looks like you show up at each spot, take a picture and get back in the van.
Great trip and our driver guide was very pleasent and accommadating.
This tour was really good. You have options on where you want to go. The tour guide gave us options and places to visit.
John went above and beyond for us! I cannot say enough good. The Eagles nest was well worth the time! If you’re looking for more Salzburg city time - watch your time at Königssee. If you’re looking for more nature - the boat ride in konigssee is a good option. Again We couldn’t be happier with John making sure we were comfortable and happy. We left a couple items in his car by accident and made a special trip to drop back to us. I can’t repay or thank him enough.
Excellent all around. Pre-trip communication was great, I had a lot of questions about tickets to buy/times and they always answered quickly and spot on. Driver was friendly, knew the tour route very well, and even remained after hours thanks to traffic. Vehicle was very nice on the inside, practically brand new Mercedes van, spacious for numerous adults. I would not hesitate to book with them again, and even ask for the same driver.
Amir did an excellent job. He is prompt, friendly, and shared his knowledge of the area. He even parked and took us on foot to some difficult to find attractions in Salzburg. I can't thank you enough for a great day!
Nothing “it was excellent “ the drive was very informative and enjoyed a joke or two The vechicle as a-perfect size and comfortable
Jan, our driver, was a great guy and took us to all the stops on the itinerary we wanted to go to. He was super helpful in finding a good pharmacy we needed to visit urgently. On the whole a very enjoyable day made even better in the company of a good, kind-hearted and accommodating driver.
Ian, our driver, was a great guy and took us to all the places we wanted to go to on the tour. He was very accommodating and went out of his way to help us as we had to get to a pharmacy urgently. On the whole a very enjoyable day made even better in the company of a good, kind-hearted and accommodating driver.
Tomas was an exceptional guide. He customized our pickup and we spent extra time at places we wanted to and less time where we didn’t need as much. It was the fullest day of touting I can remember. I would definitely have Tomas take us on another tour. He provided history, context, and was tremendously personable.
The eagles nest was a disappointment as it had no historical value, however Martin was the best part of the whole experience. He took us everywhere we wanted to go and more; he was super nice and made us feel incredibly comfortable.
Our guide Abir was very kind. It was the perfect day in 3 great locations. It is nice to do research ahead of time so you have an idea of things you want to see in your free time once you get to the locations.
This was an all-day tour covering 3 locations. I thought I was in shape, but realized how the altitude at Konigssee and Eagle Nest can change that assessment! We were fortunate to have an experienced tour guide in Tomas Vacir. He was proactive in telling us when we need to buy tickets (the lift at Konigssee, the bus up to Eagle's Nest). If it had not been for him, we would not have been able get into Eagle's Nest, as it happened to be a holiday and the morning slots had already been taken. We adapted by going to Konigssee first, taking in Eagle's Nest in the afternoon and finishing the day in Salzburg. Tomas was very prompt to greet us after each visit and get us to our next destination. He even provided us map location to our phone of sites to visit in Salzburg.
It's a great area to travel and great stops along the way. Our driver Tomas was friendly and informative.
We had a great day! Martin was our driver and took us to some great places, very knowledgeable about the areas we were visiting and great communication along the way
Thomas was an amazing guide! He was very knowledgeable, informative, friendly and accommodating! I recommend this tour!
After a long drive, the tour had been closed due to weather. Had we been informed of this, alternative plans would have been made. The driver we had however, was fantastic and we made the best of it.
We enjoyed an entire day with Tomas. He is fluent in English and we had enjoyable conversations the whole day. He loves history and shared a lot of information, so if Tomas is your driver please ask about the history for each spot visited. We loved how this private tour is completely catered to what you want to do and for how long. We were able to communicate with Tomas using WhatsApp to modify how long we wanted to stay at each place. He was quick to respond and pick us up promptly. Tomas really made this tour fun and enjoyable as it takes an entire day. A couple of suggestions: get to Eagles Nest early as the large tour groups show up around 10:30 am and be sure to contact The Europe Journey Team and request the links to purchase the tickets for the bus at Eagle Nest and the boat ride at Lake Königssee before you go. The Europe Journey Team was also very quick to respond using WhatsApp. They sent me our driver Tomas’ contact information the day before so I was able to touch base about the pickup time. Munich’s weather can change quickly so pack for both rain and sunshine. Overall we enjoyed each spot visited. Munich is a beautiful city with lots to see 💕
It was a great experience to have our own drive who was very knowledgeable, courteous, punctual and fun. Thomas should be acknowledged on his professionalism. We had a great day thanks Thomas
Our Driver Tomas was outstanding. Very well informed and shared plenty of history about the area. I would definitely tour with him again.
Leave at 08.00am to have a full day. Tour guide Martin was very accommodating and friendly. Eagles Nest is more impressive than can be imagined
Wonderful experience! Frank was a great driver & also knowledgeable about the area. The Eagles Nest & the Documentation Center were so good & informative. Ate lunch on top. Need couple of hours for museum. Bunkers really neat. Spent so much time there that we didn’t have time for Lake Konigssee (boat rides all sold out by lunch so buy tix early!). Salzburg Fortress was neat but kind of confusing to see/tour. We chose to stay in Salzburg rather than return to Munich. Definitely recommend Frank & this experience!
The tour was nice our driver Frank gave us great recommendations and was always on time thanks for everything it was cloudy on the day went but Noone can control mother nature
Frank was an amazing driver. We arrived safely and timely at all of our destinations. He had great suggestions for things to see and where to eat. We were dropped off at easily accessible entrances and he was waiting to pick us up when we were done. Would definitely recommend this experience and Frank.
Highly recommend this tour. The driver Tomas was very friendly and helpful. He was also very knowledgeable and attentive to our schedule. The tour is at your own pace which we thouroughly enjoyed. Lots of time to explore and shop at our leisure. No rushing, drama or stress. Tomas is an excellent driver.
This was a wonderful adventure. Our driver Tomas Vacir was excellent. He went above and beyond to meet our needs and requests. His English and manners were so friendly.
The tour was what we expected and similar to others. I have done before for both sites. Peter, our driver, did a wonderful job with providing information and the guides inside of the sites were also informative and very professional. My only critique would be that when offering the option for a box lunch it would be important to note that there is limited options for lunch outside of that, based on the schedule and facilities. Had we known we would not be given an actual lunch break we would have bought the box lunches, and instead, our only real option was the vending machine. Additionally, we paid for a tour with a hotel pick up and unlike other options that instantly noted that our hotel was outside of their pick up zone this tour accepted our hotel as a pick up/drop off option and we were not informed that we would need to meet at a pick up point instead until the evening before our tour.
The driver did not even acknowledge our presence, he was quiet the whole time, he drove us to the koniigssee and we had no idea where the eagles nest was which WE DID NOT visit or see he pointed it out in the distance. Then he picked us up and dropped us in another location, again NO WORDS, gave us some google map links and drove off. Ridiculous for the amount of money we paid for 5 people. He literally behaved like we were doing him a favour! An Uber driver would have been soon much more polite and helpful for the amount of money we paid.
This is not the tour that is explained on the website. The driver was from Prague and had to drive through the night to meet us in Munich for a full day driving tour. We were disappointed that we did not do what the "tour" stated. And we requested a partial refund and were denied. DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR
We were disappointed that the Eagles Nest was closed for the winter but our driver did recommend a mountain top where we were able to see it from and also enjoy a great sunset and views from above the clouds. He additionally recommended a great little restaurant in Salzburg which we all enjoyed.
We cannot express enough gratitude to our guide Tomas. The trip was magical. Great experience. Absolutely recommend it for those that would like to spend a day sightseeing.
We cannot express enough gratitude to our guide Thomas. All the sights we visited were absolutely amazing. The palace at Chiemsee, the Bavarian Alps and finally Salzburg were magical. Once again, thank you Tomas for unforgettable day. I highly recommend this trip if you want to see things and spend a day in great company and see places.
The driver was professional and very experienced. Due to the Eagle's Nest being closed a trip to the Hallein Salt Mine was substituted and it was great.
Great trip to salt mines, Königssee and Salzburg. The flexibility of the private driver was great! The salt mine tour was fun and different. Loved the calm boat ride at Königssee and the shops around there. Salzburg had many options for dinner and many historical sites to visit.
My husband and I were driven and escorted a little by Marie from Munich to the Eagles nest area, and then Salzburg Austria. She was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable.
Our tour guide was GREAT!!! He took us to so many memorable places and made the entire experience exceptional. I would highly recommend you checking it out
Our driver Martin was the best. Very friendly, prompt at picking us up at all stops, his car was spotless and he drove very well. And the 3 locations are great spots and very doable if you go into it with a plan (which you need to have as they are simply getting you from point A to point B). For us, the day was challenging due to torrential downpours that lasted the entire day, but we made the best of it and were able to get a unique experience out of it. Because of the rain, the view at Eagles Nest was completely covered in clouds which was beyond disappointing (but certainly out of everyone’s control) - but we did get to experience it in the snow which made for a unique and beautiful view in a different way. Lake Konigssee was stunning - we chose not to ride the boat and make this a quick stop with all the rain, but definitely worth the stop and a spot I would have liked more time. Salzburg was a bit more challenging - my phone wasn’t picking up a signal so we missed some of the sights we wanted to see as things weren’t well labeled and maps weren’t readily available (and the wet conditions made a paper map a no-go). We spent most of our time in the Fortress which is definitely a must see and where we spent most of our time - views are stunning and the history fascinating. The day and locations will be what you make of it - and you have the flexibility to make changes in the fly - but I can’t find fault with the service provided or the locations!
Too bad it was a bleak, rainy day. Too cool the way the clouds tried to hide Eagles Nest. Konigsee is the prettiest gem we’ve seen since we arrived 10 days ago. Marie guided us expertly through the day and helped make it a great experience. Thanks, Mike
Our driver, Tomas, was the best! He had great insight into the area and history of the places we travelled to, and he was very accommodating to any changes in our itinerary. Every sight was beautiful and/or interesting. Would highly recommend!
What an incredible day! Sphendi was the best! He made everything special for the four of us! He drove careful, knew lots of details and made sure we had the most memorable trip. Eagles nest drive up was breathtaking! The boat ride was wonderful- the turn around time is long so make sure you have enough time. Salzburg is just wow!!
Very nice driver, great places to visit despite weather! However, we were expecting more guidance from tour guide/driver. No info about Salzburg at all.
Thomas was wonderful and out in a lot of effort to ensure our comfort. He drove well and was knowledgeable about the areas we traveled to and took us to a few extra spots. The trip was expensive but worth every penny!
This was a different experience for me. Usually I am with my wife and we are being shuttled around from point to point. But because I was running solo, it was more like two guys seeking good travel and great conversation about any topics. And Jan says he is a bad communicator. Hahahahaa. He was honest and straight forward about expectations at each destination. Always asking do you want this or that. He knows the areas well so that knowledge quickly tailors to your desires. Maybe we will meet up again in another country my guide/friend. Wishing you the best.
The driver provided water and umbrellas for us. We had an excellent tour to the Eagles Nest but did not have time to see the Documentation Center. The stop at Konigsee was also fast, but beautiful. Our driver gave us several recommendations for places to eat in Salzburg, and when we were done seeing the city with time to spare, the driver took us to Mirabell Gardens as a bonus stop. The driver was very fast and aggressive, which was uncomfortable for us but might be more of a cultural difference since we don't have unlimited speed limits in the USA. At one point I had to remind him there were children in the car and to please stop the hard braking, otherwise my children would throw up. It affected his tip in the end. Overall still a wonderful trip and worth the money.
A great day on the outskirts of Munich and also experiencing a taste of Austria! Very friendly driver and the sightseeing was amazing!
we are so luck to find the private tour the last minute. it's not cheap, but I can save lots of time and visit 3 places in a day. Eagle's nest is amazing, fantastic view, and can see King's see from the mountain. King's see is also very beautiful along the lake sidel
Los 3 lugares muy bonitos e interesantes. la atención de nuestra chofer muy buena y atenta. Flexible
