Iain was so knowledgeable and friendly. Such a historian. He did an amazing job creating a great experience for my partner, who is legally blind. We cannot recommend him more!

The guide will meet you at your hotel. Transportation to the site is by public transit. Not a problem. Just worth knowing in advance. Anushka , our guide, was knowledgeable, organized, responsive to questions, and very cordial.
Carlotta was amazing!!! Very informative and thorough. Very smooth transfer from our hotel. So glad went my with her!
Scott was a highly knowledgeable expert guide who guided us with the sensitivities needed for visiting this site.
The tour was fine, but for the price, the guide did not check in with me in advance and showed up at the wrong hotel. Viator customer service, long a pain point with this service, could not reach the tour operator. I could have Ubered to the site for a fraction of the cost and read the well-marked signage and taken the self-guided audio tour.
Excellent tour! I am very picky about tours, but Ian may be the best tour guide I have ever had. He was so well informed on all stages of history. He explained cause and effect brilliantly! He knew the answer to every question we asked him. Personable, helpful and friendly. You could not ask for a better experience!
Our tour guide was incredible. So knowledgeable about such an important site. Highly recommend booking this private tour to get the details and attention it needs.
Our tour guide Patricia was excellent and made sure we were on time for transportation and memorial. Tour company provided excellent communication and was flexible adding more guests to our party.
Markus was our guide. He did an exceptional job of explaining the history of the region as well as all that happened in Dachau. He answered all our questions and got us from our hotel to the memorial site and back. We both appreciated his approach and how well he knows the history of Dachau. Highly recommend Markus.
Great tour! Markus was reliable, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He went well beyond just the basics of a tour. He helped us understand not just WHAT happened but also the HOW and WHY regarding this important and somber part of German history
Scott was so knowledgeable of Dachau and the war and even Munich history. Really enjoyed our experience despite how somber a place. Not to miss!
While It’s certainly not a “feel good” experience, it is nonetheless an enlightening, historical, somber experience. Be reverent, be respectful. Our guide, Matt, was excellent. His knowledge about the site and the events that surround it are impeccable, as well as his knowledge of the time period and the world perspective at the time.
Interesting history, guide was excellent. Not for the faint of heart. Sobering experience. A must see.
It was incredibly detailed and brought out points of history and his historical significance that was previously unbeknownst to us. The guided tour was done in a very thoughtful and meaningful way and revealed things about Munich, Germany and world events you don’t get in US history textbooks. Fast paced and feels like reading a Dan Brown novel.
I cannot recommend Markus enough, he was a wonderful, knowledgeable, and well spoke guide. He did a great job driving a thought provoking conversation on a very difficult topic and our group will never forget this trip.
Incredible experience. Marcus, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable. He works directly in the camp archives and has personally interviewed survivors. He is also a professor on the subject, literally teaching this history. He did an outstanding job explaining every detail and providing deep historical context throughout the tour. It was just my wife and me, which made the experience even more meaningful. He met us at our hotel and we rode the train together to the site, which added a very personal touch
Phenomal guide. Very knowledgeable. Shared the facts of the site but also their significance for today. As an American I appreciated a different view on standard narrative of WWII, how we got involved and why. My sons who was 15 appreciated how he engaged him and how knowledgeable he was. Highly recommended!
Excellent tour. Our guide Emmet was fantastic and provided a great insight. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend this tour.
This is a good tour. But understand what you are about to see. It was a “work” concentration camp. Many died here but not by gas chamber
Lots of history and information by our guide Emmet that we did not know before the tour. I would really recommend this for anyone wanting to know the history of world war 2 and these camps. I highly recommend..
Scott was very knowledgeable and full of information. He made the tour easy for us to navigate. Highly recommend.
Great tour. Scott was very knowledgeable. Hard tour to take in and emotional, He did a great job in explaining history and leaving time for pause and reflection.
This was a truly sobering but also fascinating and educational experience. Sam met us at the train station and helped us board to get to Dachau (easiest by train). He gave us a brief rundown on the area en route, and once we got there gave us a lot more information about the history of the camp. He did an amazing job of knowing when to provide guidance and information, and when to let us just absorb the horror and see all that happened there. He was extremely knowledgeable and clearly cared a lot about the material. Absolute must if you're in Munich and we recommend this tour completely.
Mat provided an excellent understanding of Dachau, its major significance and the part it played in the wider context of WWII history. His knowledge of events leading up to the opening of the camp, its use in the various stages of the war and who the major personalities involved gave his tour depth and perspective. As a student of history I found the experience to be interesting and engaging. Mat’s knowledge of history, culture and local customs gave the tour a very personal touch. Highly recommend Mat for those interested in gaining a wider understanding of a complex issue.
Keith was extremely knowledgable and took great care of us. The grounds were in excellent condition and respectfully presented.
Nic was a fantastic tour guide. He did a great job explaining the horrific and tragic events that occured in Dachau and the history behind them.
Our tour guide did an amazing job on our trip to Dachau, He was impressively informed and easy to speak to. Not a single question went unanswered. Highly recommend.
This really IS a private tour! Mat met us at our hotel, and steered us deftly via public transit to Dachau in pouring rain. His depth of understanding of the camp, the town, and world circumstances that all led to the horrific tragedy of WWII and the network of concentration camps is vast. We’re old enough that we had friends growing up who were holocaust survivors, and have visited holocaust memorials in several countries in Europe, so we had some working context ourselves. The beauty of this sort of truly personal experience is that your guide isn’t just talking all the time, really it’s a conversation that goes places you’d never anticipate. We were fortunate to be there one day after the 80th anniversary of the liberation. Somehow the rain and cold only served to reinforce our understanding of the brutal conditions experienced by the prisoners. It was heartening to see huge crowds of school groups there (teens, which made sense to us). It’s going to take a while to truly process all we’ve learned in a few short hours. We can’t recommend this tour and Mat highly enough!
Visiting Dachau Concentration Camp was a profoundly sobering experience, but one we believe is essential for anyone seeking to understand this pivotal chapter of history. Mat, our tour guide, went beyond simply showing us the site—he provided an in-depth history lesson that contextualized the events leading up to what we were witnessing. His knowledge, empathy, and ability to convey the gravity of the subject made the experience even more impactful. We highly recommend taking this tour and, if possible, having Mat as your guide. Mat was an excellent guide. On time at the hotel and navigated the train and bus for us both to and from. Extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. We both learned a lot about this important part of history. Thank you Mat!
Matt was absolutely amazing - so knowledgable and well studied, with fascinating information!! Highly recommend this historical tour!
Informative tour, with an excellent guide. Mat was engaging, and had answers for almost every question we posed. He led us through all parts of the Camp, explaining the unique setting, along with the historical and psychological pieces woven in.
My guide Mat was definitely a walking encyclopedia of this very unfortunate chapter in Germany's history. Not a clockwatcher for sure. Patiently and passionately elaborated on the exhibits and key features at the memorial site. Was most generous in sharing his insights and interesting nuggets of historical information. Done in the most respectful and solemn manner in honour of the victims of Dachau Definitely learned a great deal from this tour. So much sorrow in this place and a grim reminder that we should never ever allow such atrocities to happen again. Will highly recommend P.S. Mat even knows exactly where to wait at the bus stop, so that you'll be right smack where the door is for easy hop on to the crowded buses. And ask him for recommendations for the best Munich pub grub and brew at the end of the tour
Our tour guide was Mat, he was on time and accommodated us with our meeting place. He escorted us to the tour site. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. It was a very informative tour that is a must see. Very heavy on your heart, but something every human should do. Thank you May for your time with us!
Our guide, Nick, was very polite and informative about the memorial site. He chose his words with care and sensitivity.
Matt was an excellent guide. His knowledge on WWII and Dachau gave us a very clear picture of what took place at the Camp during the war, when it was liberated, and in the years after. Matt was by far the best guide we had in Munich!
I highly recommend this tour with Mat. He was engaging and so knowledgeable. The concentration camp is definitely a heavy subject and I feel our family got more out of the experience going with Mat versus going on our own. His passion for WWII history was clear and he did an amazing job with our three teens. Don’t hesitate in booking this tour.
Request Keith! He is an amazing guide with an exceptional amount of knowledge. He provided a great tour for me while also catering the messaging appropriately for my 14 year old daughter. This is a moving experience and I am very glad we leveraged a guided tour for it. We would have missed so much had we gone-at-it-alone. Highly recommend
a very respectful, informative and emotional day. Our guide was clearly well educated and articulate (perfect English) Everyone should see this (or one of the others) and understand “never again”
Mat was an excellent guide, creating a deeply personal and moving experience for our family. He was incredibly knowledgeable about every facet of the day - and started our experience from the moment we met up. He never rushed us and was willing to focus on the details we were interested in. Don’t hesitate to book this day if you are seeking the personal touch.
Our guide, Matt, was awesome. He was very friendly and explained what we were going to do. We were able to see everything that we wanted to. He listened to what we were interested in and designed the tour accordingly. His knowledge of the site, the history and people involved was excellent. He also knows the area of Munich very well as he was able to get us back to our hotel in a timely manner when there was a shut down of the train system. It was the best!
Excellent! Private guide was worth every penny. Heard and learned things I never heard anywhere before. Plan to bring the rest of the family back next time.
