For those of you who choose not to do the walking tour with us, the bus will drop you off in the city Center - 2 min walk from the Marienplatz.

Great tour! Tyler was our guide today and he was fantastic. Knowledgeable and informative of the history. We would highly recommend this tour and ask for Tyler.
A great tour that covered a lot of scenic, mountain Germany. Tyler shared lots of great history and took good care of us. Would recommend seeing this castle this way.
Tour guide (sorry forgot the name but the one born in the Philippines too) was genuinely friendly and accommodating. I love it that he started the tour by getting to know us and us getting to know the other participants as well. It was a small effort but truly shows how he wanted to connect with us and how he wanted us to have a really good experience. We didn’t feel rushed. We had maximised our time outside and inside the castle. The walking tour was also very informative. Definitely recommends Mike’s Bike Tours when you visit Munich!
Tyson is a great fella and did an excellent job of guiding us on the tour. Very knowledgeable and the ran the tour very smoothly. Also the bus driver was very friendly & the bus was clean & comfy 😀 Was great being able to purchase beverages on the bus also!
We had a great time with the organized day trip to the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. Tyler was a great tour guide. He gave us all of the information needed on a timely manner. He explained the history in the right amount of detail.
Tyler was a great guide. Although it was too late for the Christmas markets when I attended, he pivoted to show us other great locations. He was funny, very informative and clear on all instructions that kept the whole group together and made sure we enjoyed our time.
Tyler was very knowledgeable about the points of interest on the tour as well as information on the surrounding area.
Tyler was our guide and was very attentive, organized, and knowledgeable. The bus was comfortable overall, and was pretty full (December is a popular time to visit). It's important to be on time when your guide tells you what time to meet up again; we had to wait a bit to depart the site as some folks were quite late (Tyler had to reach out to them by phone). The experience is well-planned, with a stop at Hohenschwangau first, where we explored that castle. At Neuschwanstein, we opted to take the shuttle (bring cash - I believe it was €3.50 each one-way up) up to the bridge viewpoint, which was quick and easy - we were lucky the bridge was open as we were told it is often closed in the winter. We're glad we took the shuttle too, as there is plenty of walking uphill from there and also within the castle. After reading some reviews online about the castle being unfinished and not having that much to look at, we contemplated skipping going inside, but decided we might as well since we had come all this way. I'm really glad we did, as the inside guided tour was fantastic and the castle history was fascinating to hear and see (no photos allowed). We also enjoyed the Christmas Market tour afterwards and Tyler took us to sites we might have otherwise missed on our own. We enjoyed hearing some interesting history about the area as well. The market tour is fairly fast-paced (~15 minutes at each market, remember to be on time) but you can always return on your own if you want to spend more time there after the tour. Overall, this was a well-organized, informative, and enjoyable experience which we'd recommend to our friends and family.
Absolutely fantastic experience and a highlight of our Munich trip! The Neuschwanstein Castle plus Christmas Market tour was perfectly organized, with a super easy bus ride and prompt timing—10/10. Our guide, Tyler, was outstanding: incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and full of interesting history mixed with a few cheeky stories that made the day even more fun. Neuschwanstein was breathtaking, and the Christmas market walk was the perfect addition. A must-do if you’re visiting Munich—highly recommend!
We had a great tour with Tyler today. Wonderful recommendations, very informative and friendly. My whole family enjoyed our day. Would highly recommend.
Tyler was a great guide with excellent energy, sharing not only castle history but also interesting insights about Munich. The bus was comfortable with drinks available on board to purchase. If the tour is nearly full, try to board early to sit with family or friends and bring cash to purchase castle tour tickets. The hike up to the castle is good exercise, with a bus or horse option available—wear good walking shoes and pack light. The castle tour was incredible, with fascinating interiors (no photos allowed). Back in Munich, we visited three Christmas markets and learned more about the city—don’t skip this, especially if you enjoy learning about history. This tour is best done early in your Munich trip or on a Sunday (most of retail and shops are shut), and it’s an easy, social, and informative way to see the castle and get to know Munich.
Very large group with mostly young participants. The group leader moved very quickly with only rare looks behind to see who was following. We broke off at the end since trying to follow a splintered group in a Christmas market was impossible. The information on the bus was helpful and castle and environs were spectacular.
It was a fantastic trip and Tyler was the best. He was very knowledgeable and made the whole trip fun, so much so that my children were actually paying attention to him. We had a history lesson and work out at the same time. Thanks Ty.
Terrific trip apart from how naturally beautiful the region and castle is I can’t think of how it could be improved Tyler I think is the perfect guide Informative knowledgeable but most importantly just the right touch with people of warmth and humour very genuine Aaron sebo Melbourne Australia
Tyler was very sweet and made sure that we had the best time possible. There was plenty of time to choose your own adventure while also having Tyler’s excellent recommendations.
Tyler was amazing! He mixed a strong sense of history and knowledge with a great sense of humor. Thanks for a great tour and experience!
Whilst the operator of the tour was professional and had good knowledge of the history etc. The bus was clean and had a toilet on it. There was complimentary wifi as well. It was a whole day event. - drive took 1.5 to 2 hours to get there. we had very limited time for lunch. We the did a hike up quite a steep hill to get to some good views from a bridge. The castle tour was like a commercial conveyor belt. enter at your designated time with your group. If your group is large, you can't fit all individuals in the smaller rooms so you wait outside the room. As there is a time pressure from oncoming groups you get moved quickly from one room to another. There is no time to ask questions (one of our group tried and got told to wait but didn't bother at the end). my husband got chased out of a room that we were leaving (as he wanted to look at the mosaic floor without people standing on it). My kids were more excited by the icy snow on the street sides than the castle (8 & 5). The Christmas market tour was rushed as well as it was 5-6ish when we were doing this. The value of this isn't great. We come from Australia and the Aus dollar is not great but it cost us $573 aus without the tickets for the tour! had to buy these in cash on the bus. another 60 euros (I think it was 3.50euro for each kid). so a total of A$679 + tip.
Ziggy was a great guide, entertaining and knowledgeable Need 100 characters sssssssssssssssssssssssss
The tour was efficiently organized. Tour guide Sigmund was great taking care of us navigating and sharing adequate info about Munich and Bavaria whole day. Of course the scenery of fhe castle was magical. On the way back the swift navigation through the markets in the streets of Munich was nice. Would recommend this tour operator and guide to friends. Thanks.
This tour definitely made Munchen Neuschwanstein Castle day trip memorable. Sigmund was informative and funny. He kept us well informed and entertained for the whole 10-11 hours trip. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Munich. Phong from Virginia US
Be on time. It helps everyone. Everything was very organized and the guide and driver were very helpful.
Ziggy-guide and Nahim (sp?)-driver were wonderful hosts for a day out in the Bavarian countryside. After overhearing another tour group guides speaking to their group like they were children, I had an extra appreciation for how wonderfully informal, unstuffy and educational this tour was. The transfer bus was running to the bridge so I chose to take that over the mildly intense trek up, but I overheard Ziggy being the hype man for all the hikers who chose to get their sweat on. The castle itself is a well oiled machine with its own guide and was interesting to see what the finished parts of the palace look like even if it's a fairly quick and dirty overview with no time to browse at your own pace (which has nothing to do with the bus tour). I'm glad I booked this tour instead of taking public transport on my own.
Had a great time on the trip and tour of the castle! Tyler was fun and entertaining with lots of great information about the castle and its history. The views were incredible!
Tyler was excellent!!! Very knowledgeable of the history of the castle and surrounding areas. Excellent tour guide throughout the day. Christmas tour very enjoyable!!! Made everyone engaged and took care of everyone. Always checked one everyone's well being throughout the day. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Make sure to check the weather. Wear appropriate shoes and warm coat etc. In the winter. There is alot of walking uphill involved.
We took a short scenic bus ride up to the Neuschwanstein Castle. Tyler was engaging and gave us a brief history of the castle and area. We had time to explore the town and grab a bite to eat before walking up to the castle. Part of our group opted for the horse and carriage rides that were available that day. The castle is beautifully preserved and the artwork is breathtaking. A magical place to include on your trip to Germany!
really great time! guide spoke perfect English and was very knowledgeable. we went to 3 different Christmas markets
Fantastic day with Tyler! He’s very knowledgeable and gave clear instructions throughout. The onboard beer/drink service was a lovely touch. The Christmas markets were extremely busy and the stops were brief, but we appreciated getting to see all three within the tour time. Five stars!
This is a great tour. Tyler is an awesome host and very knowledgeable! Seeing the town and castles on the hills is beautiful. Seeing inside Neuschwanstein was incredible mixed with the history of the family. Tyler showed us the best view in Germany from the balcony of the castle. Bus ride was comfortable with drinks to purchase if wanted. Christmas market and city walk was also very interesting and fun- although the markets were crazy crowed on a December Saturday night. Tyler was great in directing us to food and things to see at each market. Great time and a perfect day trip. Thanks so much!
The castle is beautiful, especially in the winter. Quite an uphill walk but totally worth it. The quick tour around Munich was also very nice! Even though it was short, it was nice to know some fun facts about the city.
Our day trip to Neuchenstein Castle was perfect. We rode a very comfortable coach with Martin at the wheel. Our guide Ziggy was very funny and entertaining. The scenic drive to the castle was spectacular. We were fortunate to have a clear day and a light dusting of snow which enhanced the beautiful castle grounds. On our return trip home we made a brief stop in Oberammergua which was very pretty. Would definitely recommend.
Great beer onboard and fun for all. Ziggy had us laughing and the time flew by. I recommend this tour 100%
This experience made my entire trip. Our guide was wonderful, very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. We got so lucky with the weather and got to experience the castle in its full winter glory.
We did the Neuschwanstein/Christmas Market your. Tyler was our guide - he was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the region and the castle. Also incredibly funny.
The castle was beautiful! The walk to the top was a bit steeper than expected but we made it in plenty of time. Tyler was awesome. He was very friendly, was extremely knowledgeable, and kept everyone informed. Definitely recommend!
Tyler was a great guide and although it was a foggy day we made the most of it. We’ll likely go back in future but may wait to purchase ticket until day before or day of to hopefully have better chance of sun.
The palace was beautiful same as the small village, highly recommended tour!! The tour of the Xmas markets after the castle tour was a nice plus.
We had an amazing experience with Tyler as our guide. The tour is very well organized and everything communicated very well. Initially we were unable to get tickets to enter the castle as they were sold out when we tried, but thankfully this tour reserves a bunch of tickets in advance that you can pay for on the day of your trip. This is very helpful because tickets sell out months in advance. Tyler our guide was really kind and provided us with lots of good information. He was very helpful and great to have on the day trip. We also really enjoyed the walk through the city/Christmas markets after. Overall, this is definitely worth the money!
This tour was absolutely wonderful. Our tour guide Tyler was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was fun getting little bits on this history of the castle and the Christmas markets. The bus ride was beautiful and this tour made the whole process very simple. My only critique is that there were 2 address on the meet up sight so that was a little confusing. But they weren’t far from each other so not terrible hard to figure it out. We were only in Munich for a few days and this excursion was definitely the highlight.
Our tour guide Tyler was incredibly informative and gave us a lot of context of the castle and King Ludwig II. Highly recommend this tour. Our only issue was that we would have liked an extra hour at the castle but due to the days being short its understandable since we got back to Munich at around sunset. Overall, we highly recommend this tour especially to those who aren't staying at Munich for very long.
My daughter and I turned up at the meeting point and was met by our guide David. After checking us in David advised us where the nearest cash machine was and the nearest place to get something for breakfast and use of toilets, he told us what time to be back at the meeting point then he could carry out a head count and brief us on what the trip entails. Before going to the coach, we had a little wait as another couple that was booked on the trip had a problem in finding the meeting point, David was on his mobile a few times trying to explain where the meeting point was but unfortunately, they were heading in the wrong direct and ended up too far away to wait for them. We then walked to the coach which was only a minute or two away. The coach driver was friendly, and the coach was nice and clean and had toilet facilities. When enroute David told us a bit about himself and then went round us all to see where we had travelled from. David was knowledgeable and gave information on the different areas whilst on our way to Neuschwanstein Castle. Once we arrived at the castle David was very clear on the meeting points and times, he also put on a pink hat, so he was noticeable in a crowd. Before going up to the castle we had time to take some photos and look around the gift shops we also had a bite to eat. My daughter and I enjoyed the castle, it was a hike getting up there, but it was worth it, you could book to go on a horse and carriage but there is a waiting time, possibly 30 mins or so. In the castle you were given a listening device so you could hear the castles tour operator and lots more steps to go up… again, worth it. On leaving the Castle we both headed down the hill to have one last look around the shops before going back to the nice warm coach then headed back to Munich where we left the coach. David and those who wanted to look around the Christmas Markets headed off to the Markets and whilst on route David pointed out different buildings of interest and added a bit of history regarding them, Joanne and I really liked the Theatine Church, very beautiful inside. We enjoyed looking around the Markets, there was a lovely atmosphere, and they were very busy, thank God for Davids pink hat…hahaha We really enjoyed the trip, it was excellent, we would really recommend it, David also made it a very enjoyable and an informative experience.
I had a great experience at this wonderful place! The guide was incredibly insightful and friendly, providing us with a detailed and analytical view of everything. It truly made the experience even more enjoyable. The entire visit was fantastic, and I couldn’t have asked for a better time. Highly recommend
Bring cash for tipping (deserved) and also for vendors at neuschwanstein village. Bring your own food and drink if you want it cheaper still although they do sell reasonably priced drinks on the bus
Very smooth trip, took a nice coach bus and got some history of the area and King Ludwig on the way to the castle. Got some great pictures before hiking up and taking part in the castle tour itself. Took the bus back and then Tyler gave us a walking tour of Munich where we got some more insight into the area. Also gave me a great dinner and beer recommendation that I really enjoyed after the tour!
Absolutely amazing tour! Tyler was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable. The castle is stunning in winter, and the hike isn't too challenging. Another great aspect is that the bus isn't filled to its full capacity.
All around it was an exceptional experience. Tyler, our tour guide, did a stellar job. Never time I would probably opt for the carriage ride up the mountain, though. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is planning on visiting Neuschwanstein-Castle.
A great experience overall! It was such a smooth excursion and Tyler was a really well-informed and friendly guide. He was very knowledgeable and also told us the best tips about foods to try at the Christmas Markets, photo spots at the castle and historical facts about the area and royal lineage.
Fantastic experience! Tyler was a great tour guy, funny, knowledgeable and professional. I wish we had more time to check out other various tours with Mikes Bikes! The meet up was easy. Right in the heart of Munich. It was a quick walk to the bus. The bus was very comfortable, climate controlled and had a toilet. The tour of the castle was great! We had about an hour to walk around town, grab a bite to eat or find gifts. The walk was 1 mile up a moderate hill. It was easily accomplished by all ages. However, there d a horse drawn carriage for those who want assistance or the experience! I wish Tyler could have given us the castle tour, but the tour was giving by a state employee (who was still really good)! The castle was beautiful but I will let you experience it for yourself! Unfortunately my wife and I had to catch a train so we didn’t get to do the Munich walking tour at the end of tour. Although I have been told times vary slightly, we were back in Munich at 5:00. Again, Tyler was great! Absolutely made the experience perfect!
Lovely tour. Highly recommend. Our guide Tyler was great! He even gave us an option for a quick detour to add a stop to see a beautiful Church nearby. His insight was knowledgeable and loved that he added some humor into the day. The castle and village were beautiful. Great day trip!!
