The tour was so well done! Prompt, well planned and organized, it exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the smooth ride in a large Mercedes bus. Our guide, Kristine, was gracious, knowledgeable and compassionate in introducing us to the people, history and places regarding our trip. Agron was a deft, smooth and expert driver. Viator had been highly recommended by friends and we concur. We highly recommend this tour!

Itinerary
We’ll meet at 8:40 a.m. at Sonnenstrasse 1, 80331 Munich. There you’ll find a tour bus marked “Mentor Reisen,” and our friendly driver and guide will welcome you as you check in. We’ll depart on time and drive past several Munich landmarks (which the guide will explain) on our way to the first stopp Linderhof Palace. (option "Neuschwanstein, NO LINDERHOF" drives NOT to Linderhof Palace!)
At around 10:45 a.m., you will reach the parking lot at Linderhof Palace. Explore the gardens surrounding the palace on your own and then make your way to the palace entrance. The smallest, fully furnished, palace was built in the 19th century in the French Rococo and Baroque styles. The Palace of Versailles influenced both the architectural style and the gardens. The guided tour takes place live in English at about 11:10 a.m. and lasts about 30 minutes. The tour bus departs at 12:00 p.m. (not for option "Neuschwanstein, NO Linderhof!)
On the route between Linderhof Palace and the village of Hohenschwangau, below Neuschwanstein Castle, lies the artists’ village of Oberammergau. It is known for its facade painting (known as Lüftl-Malerei) and woodcarving. The Passion Plays, which take place there every 10 years, have also become world-famous. They depict the last week of Jesus’ life, from Palm Sunday to Easter. You’ll take a tour of the town by coach, as this allows you to see much more than a brief stop would. (Not for option "Neuschwanstein, NO LINDERHOF")
The "Marienbrücke" was built in 1845 and still features original elements on its railing. From there, the view of Neuschwanstein Castle is truly unique. You absolutely must take the opportunity to snap a photo from there!
At the village of Hohenschwangau the guide will pick up (skip-the-line) tickets for the tour of Neuschwanstein Castle. Afterward, you’ll have free time to have lunch at one of the many restaurants, take a walk to Hohenschwangau Castle, or stroll along the Alpsee. And you can make your way to the Marienbridge (as described Nr. 4) You can reach Neuschwanstein Castle on foot (about a 30-40 minute uphill walk), by shuttle bus/by horse-drawn carriage for a fee. Your guide will provide you with the exact details. The guided tour of Neuschwanstein Castle begins shortly before 4:00 PM and lasts approximately 25 minutes with an audio guide. Afterward, please return directly to the tour bus. The return trip to Munich departs at about 5:30 PM.
After a ride of just under two hours in the comfortable coach, you’ll arrive back in downtown Munich and get off at the meeting point.

Beautiful locations and very knowledgeable guide Elisabeth. Got there and it was very foggy so we were worried we wouldn’t be able to see anything but it cleared up as soon as we got there. Most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.
My time on this trip was (in one word) magical! The bus ride was comfortable and took us through very picturesque areas around both castles. While there was a lot to fit in during the day, I felt that the time we were given was more than enough to fit in what we needed (me and my partner are in our 20s and active). Nothing could prepare us for the beauty of Neushwanstein when we arrived, absolutely breathtaking! We were also given free reign to do what we wanted in both locations which worked much better for us as travellers. Our guide Elisabeth was a delight and she spun stories on the coach ride which made the trip feel more immersive and fun. Overall a wonderful experience and I would recommend this trip, just be sure you have the stamina to fit in everything you need!
Fantastic tour, Elizabeth makes great use of storytelling to keep her audience engaged and she is very joyful and approachable. Everything was communicated extensively and we had a great time. Would highly recommend this tour, especially with Elizabeth as the tour guide.
An excellent opportunity to make the most of your time in Munich! I enjoyed every moment of this beautiful day trip. Both Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace were absolutely worth visiting and exceeded my expectations. A big thank you to the organizers for putting together such a wonderful experience. Special thanks to Elisabeth for sharing the fascinating history of both places and patiently answering questions. Her knowledge and explanations made the trip even more enjoyable. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Munich! A truly memorable experience!
Great experience and amazing guide!
Elizabeth was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and kept us on task. Lindehof Castle was incredible on the inside. Neuschwanstein castle was covered in clouds for the first hour but soon she broke out and was incredible to see. The tour was very well organized
10/10 experience! Elisabeth was amazing! Cannot recommend her enough!
We very much enjoyed the trip. Charlie, the guide was pleasant and knowledgeable, and I highly recommend him. He gave us good insight into Bavarian history and culture outside the immediate scope of the trip, which provided good context and general interest. The trip was punctual, and all information provided beforehand. It's a long day, and I appreciate the time pressures, however the Linderhof Grotto would have been good to mention (though this might result in some rogue tourists). Charlie gave us some good recommendations for follow-up activities for the remainder of our holiday, which was very much appreciated.
Long day to and from Munich steep hikes up and down hill, can be crowded even in off season. Have fun and enjoy!
We absolutely enjoyed the scenery on the drive to and from the castles. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kept things interesting throughout the day. Plenty of free time to wander and enjoy the areas around each location. Ignore the reviews saying Neuschwanstein castle is a waste of time. The intricate detail and history behind the castle is worth the time.
Marlee did an amazing job, was very friendly and attentive to questions. Also very knowledgeable and interacted with whole Tour group.
I absolutely loved our tour with Christine and driver Agron. The whole journey was smooth and comfortable! I learned more listening to Christine talk about King Ludwig the 2nd than I did at either of the attractions actually. Which is only to say that she’s a great speaker, highly knowledgeable, and a wonderful host. And native to Bavaria! If you’re visiting the Bayern you should certainly book this tour. The castles and palaces are beautiful (do be sure to go inside the castles, however they do not appear to be wheelchair accessible).
Very long ride, I thought the description said we were stopping in town before the castle, we did not. 10 hours for 5 minute view. Beautiful view, less than stellar tour through castle. Nice tour guide but unless you just have to, id skip.
A wonderful tour if you are willing to see both the Neuschwanstein castle and the Linderhof palace, the guide suggested multiple ways to reach the castle itself after reaching the village as well as provided other useful recommendations for this trip and for the future. The time you spend at the place won’t be excessive though - still enough to have a lunch, walk through the palace and the castle, enjoy the scenery from the Marienbrücke and get souvenirs at local shops. All in all, I have really enjoyed the trip.
Amazing, absolutely amazing. Christine and Agarr we both sweet, informative, and helpful. Beautiful castles and scenery. 100% recommended!
Christine and Akron were incredible as our driver and guide. I would recommend this trip to anyone. Don’t pay attention to the reviews saying Nueschwanstein isn’t worth it.
Christine did a great job! Would definitely recommend coming here with a day tour package.
Our guide christine was very helpful and enthusiastic. The entire trip was well planned with enough time given for both castles with guided tour and clear instructions along with a map. I would like to thank the entire team for making this trip so beautiful and hassle free.
It was easy pickup and drop off spots all day, and we got plenty of time to roam around and explore both castles and towns. Christine and Akron the driver were great and very knowledgeable
Great experience with Christine as our guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Smooth driving thanks to our driver Akron.
Christina was a wonderful guide. She suggested restaurants and the best routes to walk and see the most of everything. Our driver Akron was terrific. This was a great tour. We would highly recommend it!
Great experience!! Right on time. Christine was our guide and she guided with great detail. Totally recommend the tour !!
Amazing, I went solo with my cane and I was able to do everything. I personally took the shuttle up the castle and back.
Be prepared to do "alot" of stairs and uphill and down hill walking. Winding stairs many flights at a time.
A most informative and enthralling tour. The guide’s local knowledge was outstanding. Of particular note was Pedro’s care for people in the group. He made sure none were left behind and took the trouble to phone them. 😊
Very well organized, Pedro our guide was very good. We had a good time.
The castle is absolutely stunning and filled with rich history. Definitely recommend setting a full day apart to do this and just enjoy the stunning views of the Bavarian mountains.
It was a good experience. It has been my dream to visit the castle and being able to visit Linderhof palace was a great bonus for us. Marleen was an amazing tour guide. She made sure we knew what we are going to do and timely as well. It was wet and foggy on the day of our tour, however, it made the castle looked gorgeous in between the fog and cloud. It felt magical to me. Definitely tick my bucket list !
Interesting and fun day trip! We enjoyed every part of it. Our knowledgeable tour guide (Marleen) has a great sense of humor and she —along with our talented bus driver (Minter) made us feel relaxed and well taken care of. We would definitely enjoy taking the tour again sometime if we are ever able to visit Germany again in the future.
Marleen and the driver were fantastisch! We felt very safe in the drivers hands and it was such a smooth ride, even with tricky windy roads. Marleen was so informative, patient, funny, and enthusiastic. She did such a great job as a guide with a big group of people. I will probably book this tour again when my family come to visit.
Awesome experience! Adorable for the budget and what you get out of the trip, Marlee our guide was amazing 10/10. No one got lost, instructions were very clear! Worth a day trip experience.
Marleen has been fantastic guide!! Driver drives safely too!! Overall experience is awesome!!
Marleen was Fantastic! Very fun and knowledgeable! Thanks Marleen and Mentor busing! Our driver was a pro!
Marleen was our tour guide and it was a great experience and worth the money. My wife and I loved the sight seeing, history, and bavarian culture.
Fantastic tour with Marleen. Ran like clockwork and Neuschweinstein Castle was absolutely beautiful. Like a fairy tale. Thoroughly recommended
Marleen was an excellent guide. Friendly and knowledgeable and kept a good schedule. Our driver Menter did an excellent job as well.
Marlene was an excellent tour guide. Very informative.
super nice. marleen (guide) knew a lot about bavaria, learned a lot.
I loved the warm atmosphere created by the guide and really enjoyed the trek up the mountain to the top of the castle.
Guide was the best , Marleeb !!
The trip was well organized, down to the last detail with maps and suggestions as well as local and historical information. We were luck to have great weather. The trip is both magical and stunning views. We had a super tour guide call Marleen and a great driver. You felt they wanted you to have a great experience on their trip and we sure did.
Overall, a good experience. The most important thing was a safe drive, since part of the route was a winding road in foggy conditions / in a darker condition. Our driver (Kushner) was amazing, and our guide, Marleen, was also very kind! One suggestion: please display the guide's phone number at the front of the coach in case of an emergency.
Great places to visit both beautiful castles in Bavaria Germany. Tour Leader Marleen did a fantastic job, Driver is nice and drive safely . I will recommend Local Tour Mentor Risen to all my Friends and our family and relatives.
The Linderoff Palace stop could've been longer to provide enough to time to see the interior and walk through the beautiful gardens. Too much time was set aside for Neuschwanstein. Our tour guide Marlene tried to dissuade guest to take the horse-drawn carriage up the castle (she recommended taking the shuttle bus instead). The horse-drawn carriage ride up the hill surrounded by the forest was one of the highlights of the tour in addition to the castle itself. Do yourself a favor and take the horse-drawn carriage going up to the castle; you won't be disappointed.
Neuschwanstein Castle has become one of the most recognisable castles in the world. Its towers, mountain setting and romantic silhouette have captured the heart of the great Walt Disney himself. This UNESCO World Heritage site continues to stand high above the Bavarian mountains, reminding us that sometimes the most extraordinary legacies are left behind by people who never quite belonged to their own time. The Linderhoff palace was Ludwig's personal retreat and showcased luxury, and his creativity . Ms. Franciska, the guide mixed humor with her rich knowledge and had a pleasant way to deliver the information. Mr. Basking behind the wheel was excellent in weaving the tour through the chaotic traffic.
Great tour! Got plenty of time to spend at both Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. Amazing views from both spots and along the bus drive. Marleen was a very informative guide, giving lots of history about Bavaria, th castles and Ludwig II. Definitely worth going inside both the palace and the castle. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Our tour guide Marlene was great!! The tour was the perfect length and plenty of time to see inside and outside of both castles.
Well organised trip by Marleen who was really knowledgeable and friendly with enough time at each location to enjoy the visit
Excellent tour. Wonderful scenery. Marleen was a great guide. The driver did a wonderful job navigating narrow and curvy roads.
